Relief. Sybil’s tensed muscles relaxed as the battle came to an end. She realized she didn’t feel as bad for the abra as she thought she would, which was a kind of scary thought. But perhaps it had to do with Miles’ smile and the compliment she just received. Well-fought. Sybil found herself grinning. “Thanks… you too, of course.” Wow. She won. Of course, so much luck was involved that it could hardly be called winning, but that was hardly the point. She- and Koda- won. “Yeah, I’ll head up there too…” As Miles walked away, Sybil looked down at the money he left in her hand. That was a nice sum right there. She closed her hand around the $50 and watched Miles leave. Koda was ready to collapse, but he struggled against it and staggered over to Sybil, who quickly knelt down and embraced the Pokémon. Koda reddened fiercely and abruptly reversed, struggling to get away… but he was too weak, and secretly didn’t mind just leaning against Sybil. “You were great,” Sybil said proudly. “Now… let’s get to that Center. You need to be healed, and you can’t argue with that.” Sybil stood up and, before Koda could argue, she recalled him to the pokeball. He was too big to carry all the way, and she was afraid it would be asking too much to make him walk… even if he wanted to. Right then, it hit her how she had completely forgotten about her original goal. To look for Jordan. But how would she even begin to search for him? And looking for Pokémon for her party was starting to sound appealing… Characteristically, Sybil rubbed the back of her neck as she headed towards the Poke Center. As she thought about it, it dawned on her that her brother probably was pursuing his own journey as a trainer. It had always been a huge interest for him, and was usually what got him in trouble… Maybe she’d hear about him if she became a trainer too. Maybe she’d find him. He’d be heading to the gyms sooner or later, in any case… Jordan had more drive for this sort of thing, and his skarmory already had plenty of experience. The more she thought about it, the more Sybil was convinced that this was what he was doing. She picked up her step, anxious to get to the Center quickly so she could really start her own journey. Sybil had a path to follow. |

Alright! You had now won your first battle on the Tohean Islands. Congrats. But that wasn't an easy battle, because Koda was now both weak and tired. To add a little misery to your luck, it had just begun to rain. It was probably time to get to the Pokémon Center. As you walked along the road, people had to scamper out of your way. Thinking and planning as one walks down a busy street wasn't the best plan, but you were so deep in thought that it didn't matter who got in your way. So anyways, you finally arrived at the Pokémon Center, soaking wet from the rain. As you walked up to the desk, the nurse took your Koda and taking him to the back began to use all the fancy gizmos to patch him up and put him in tip-top shape. As you waited, a young man covered in dirt and mud and soaked to the bone slid to a stop outside the door. Stalking angrily inside, he walked right up to you and said, "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR? YOU BIG JERK!" His muddy clothes were dripping all over you. And that water on your face, was it rain water or spit? Either way, you had definitely pissed this guy off. You would do well to figure out why. ((If you could, request me. I have ideas for this. xD)) |

Sybil did have the poor habit of thinking too intently while walking. I guess multi-tasking just wasn’t her strong point. When the rain hit, Sybil jumped a little and pulled her hat down further to shield her eyes. Shiver. She wasn’t exactly prepared for this kind of weather. What the hell… It’s supposed to be summer. Sybil shivered again and started to walk faster, continuing her old line of thought. It felt kind of strange walking without Koda, as Sybil never before had to use his pokeball… She was grateful when she finally burst into the Poke Center and handed the shiny, new-looking pokeball to the nurse. At least she’d have Koda back soon; he was her guardian, in a way, since she was usually terrible at standing up for herself. If it was someone else in trouble, her naturally maternal side kicked in so she could step up, but when it came to herself… Sybil could hold herself with dignity, but really she needed her smeargle. Coincidentally, at that moment some guy even more sopping wet and dirty than her stalked into the Center. Sybil’s eyes widened in astonishment at his pissed-off outburst. Oh… crap. What did I do?? Crap, I can’t remember! Funny that instead of thinking he was crazy, the first thing she thought was that she must have been thinking too hard and not noticed whatever she had done…This time her shaking was from more than just the cold. She backed up a few steps and wiped her face off with two hands, grossed out as well as freaked out. Another scene. She was here one day, and already creating another scene… Years of training built up a paranoia in the back of her head that shouted at her to fix this before they drew a crowd. “Er… I’m sorry, I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Sybil said calmly, straightening up. Now that I think about it, she would probably be a great poker player. Somehow she kept a straight face no matter how nervous, embarrassed, or unsure she felt. “Can you please… calm down?” She asked, thinking that was probably a useless question. “What did I do?” Whatever she did, it looked like it got him both dirty and very, very angry…. and there was actually something funny about a young man calling her a ‘big jerk’, but Sybil really couldn’t see the humor in it right now. Now would be a really good time to get Koda back… |

The young man stared at you open mouthed. You didn't know what you had done? His face told the story. He thought you were the biggest ass in the entire world. Now, I think he was overreacting, but we don't know his side of the story yet. "YOU DON'T KNOW? GOD! WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE THESE DAYS!" he cried in an outrage. Nurse Joy walked over to the pair of you and putting her hand on his shoulder said, "Sir, please be calm. There are injured Pokémon here who need their rest. Do I make myself clear?" Turning to you, she handed you Koda's Pokeball and began to walk away. The young man began to yell again, exclaiming, "DO YOU...." He never got further than that. Nurse Joy turned around and gave him the most evil death glare you'd ever seen and he stopped dead. Brightening, she smiled, nodded, and went her merry way. Talking much more quietly now, the kid turned to you. He said, "You ruined my deal. I was so close to succeeding and then you came along and knocked me into the mud. When I looked up again, my customers were gone. You are going to pay so much for that." He then grabbed you by the arm and dragged you out of the center and into the street. After dragging you to an alley, he knocked in a strange pattern on a green door. It was opened by an enormous man and you were led in to a bright room. All across the walls, pictures and paintings were everywhere. Then, the young man said to you, "Welcome to the Tohea Exclusive Art Gallery. Here, we buy and sell art to any who want it. Much of what we have is exotic and unwanted. So, I have trouble finding buyers. Feel free to look around while I talk to my associate about how you'll pay for making us lose that sale." He turned to the large man and they began to talk in low tones. So, you had just hit on a huge secret art gallery. With all this art, why was it secret? Seems suspicious to me. ((Feel free to describe the art and things like that. But don't worry there's a lot more than what you see. Request me again, please.)) |

Wow. Sybil never thought she’d be so relieved to see Nurse Joy. She gave the nurse a half smile as she took Koda’s pokeball back. Now things would be set straight, and she wasn’t alone. Sybil looked at the kid again, realizing she probably had knocked him over… Oops. “I’m sorry, I had no idea…” She started, wondering what was so important about one deal. Shrugging to herself, she got a better grip on the pokeball to release Koda, but never got the chance. The kid grabbed her and led her to some green door. Crap, again. She didn’t have time to let Koda out… And what was with the secret knock and all? In the middle of an alley? Freaky… What if he had taken her to some underground thug headquarters? What if they threw her in a cell and let her die there?? Cr— Well, you all know how that would’ve ended. But before Sybil’s imagination completely ran away with her, the door opened. And as far as she could tell, it wasn’t an underground thug society (of course, it still could be, but the thought immediately left her mind in any case). “Oh my god…” Sybil gasped, looking around at the walls of art. It. Was. Beautiful. “Oh my god, I have to show Koda.” That was supposed to have been thought rather than spoken, but Sybil was quickly becoming excited despite her predicament. “Yeah, okay…” Sybil replied absently to the guy. As soon as she had the chance, she released Koda from his pokeball. The smeargle shook himself and looked around. You could tell that he was disoriented momentarily. He had no idea where they were or why they were, and he wasn’t sure if he should be on guard or give in to the awe of art. Art won. “Smeargle!” Koda exclaimed, turning towards Sybil. “I know!” The two moved quickly to the closest wall, which mostly held paintings of natural scenes. Sybil tried to take in all the minute details one certain painting held, awed by the realistic style with subtle nuances to a fantasy world. Koda was at a different painting, holding his tail in one hand and his chin with the other, as if contemplating how to get the dramatic shading the painting had achieved. “Beautiful, aren’t they?” Nevermind how suspicious it all was- the pair could hardly be bothered to think of something like that at the moment. In fact- Sybil had completely forgotten why they were there. Koda hadn’t even known in the first place. It would be interesting to see how this went. Edited by Sybil, Jun 20 2008, 02:15 PM.

As the two men conversed, the young one who had brought you here kept looking over suspiciously. He had a creepy gin on his face, but you and Koda were so engulfed in the paintings that you didn't even notice. If you had seen the face, you might have known to run as fast as you could, but you were TOO busy. Finally, the two men finished talking about your 'punishment' and the younger, smaller one walked over to where you and Koda were standing. Still completely engulfed in the paintings, you didn't hear him coming. As you looked at a painting of a young girl, you accidentally moved the bottom left corner of it. In any other gallery with any other picture, it wouldn't matter. However, this was no ordinary gallery. That moved frame flipped a little switch that lifted the wall completely off the ground. You stood staring at the awning with confusion until the man shoved you into the hole and down a dank tunnel. As you walked along with the man prodding you in the back the whole way, you accidentally stepped on a blob of purple goo. The goo attacked you with a cry of "GRIMER!" The young man looked at you and said, "Go on. Get rid of it. We need to get to the end of this tunnel, and this tunnel can't have an infestation." Looked like he wasn't going to help much. What would you do? Level 6(You can request anyone until the battle is over if you'd like. After its over, I need to finish this plotline.) |

Just as Sybil was really starting to appreciate the painting of the little girl, one little touch of the corner sent the wall into the ceiling. Considering that was just a little more than unexpected, Sybil stepped back in shock… only to be pushed forward roughly by the young man who had dragged her here in the first place. She stumbled forward then glared at him indignantly. Neither she nor Koda took lightly to being interrupted while engulfed with art. Koda, with no idea as to what was going on, jumped forward and growled threateningly at the guy. “Smeeeaarrr!” He snapped, and Sybil had to grab the brown ruff around his neck before he attacked. “Koda, not yet.” She whispered. Despite her growing apprehension, and annoyance at being taken away from the beautiful gallery, she knew they wouldn’t stand a chance where they were… Especially since Koda only knew two moves: Sketch and Thunderpunch. (Not counting global attacks, of course). With one last growl, Koda reluctantly turned away. Every once in a while he would shoot a death glare back at their abductor, but other than that he behaved rather obediently for a dark, aggressive smeargle. Apparently he was waiting for the perfect moment as well. Sybil appreciated that. With one hand lightly on Koda’s shoulder, they walked down the dark tunnel. “So aren’t you even going to tell me where you’re taking us? I think I deserve to know what my punishment is for accidentally knocking you over.” The demand contained an insinuation that the man must be pretty weak to fall over because of her… she hardly had any muscle to speak of, and was 5’6” and 120 lbs. Smeargle weighed more than she did. In fact, Koda snickered at the comment and suddenly wondered to himself if he could take the guy on… who needed a Pokémon vs. Pokémon battle? But by the time he realized this, Sybil had stepped on a grimer. Great job. Wonderful. Anyway, Sybil jumped back a few feet and concentrated on not shivering from disgust. There were a couple Pokémon she just did not like: the main two being Grimer and Tangela. “…. Fine, then, I’ll take care of the silly little grimer...” She muttered. Ok, first pulling her away from an art gallery, and now forcing her to fight a grimer which he could probably do himself. Sybil had a slow temper and all, but this was really starting to get on her nerves… Although I suppose most people would have hit freak-out level the moment they were brought into a secret room by some pissed-off guy. “Koda, use Agility and hit it with a Thunderpunch from behind. If you can, aim it at the wall of the tunnel to do some extra damage. Try to do it before the Grimer can get an attack in, especially a poison one…” Sybil may not know exactly what attacks a Grimer would have, like Poison Gas, for instance, but she did know it would have something of the sort. It was a disgusting blob Pokémon, after all. “If it does use a poison attack, just don’t breathe in the poison, and get out of range as quickly as possible.” Luckily, Grimers were pretty slow and the one thing Smeargle’s had going for them was their speed. That should play a nice advantage for Koda, even if Sybil was still learning battle tactic’s. Not to mention Koda was already royally P.O.’d. |

"Get rid of that troublesome Grimer," the kid jeered again, his eyes gleaming with malice. "Unless you and your dearest Smeargle are too chicken." Oooh, what was UP with this kid? He was driving both of you insane...and so was the smell of that nasty Grimer. Immediately, the Grimer started off by exhaling a cloud of purplish gas. Thinking quickly through his anger, Koda proceeded to hold his breath and get away from the slowly spreading cloud with Agility. Taking a few deep breaths in a cleaner part of the room, he held his breath again and sped towards the living mass of stink. Then, while Koda's right fist sizzled with electrical power, the Grimer hit the same hand away with a Pound. True, the Grimer had hurt herself a bit by the Thunderpunch, but had dodged the full brunt of it by using a Pound to deflect the attack. Yet, she was paying for her impudence there. Why? Simple: She had just risked a case of paralysis as a result. Even though Grimer literally didn't have skeletons, her movements were still a little impaired. Now, the Grimer was even slower, and didn't have as much of a chance to attack. That was lucky for you, but how long would good luck still be at your disposal? Arceus knows. I’m going to slug him if he doesn’t shut up. Sybil thought, seething. But her face was smooth, and she watched the first round in the battle calmly. It went pretty well, considering the anger that Koda must be experiencing. Thank goodness for his intuitiveness for fighting. Grimer was now basically stone-slow and Koda had accelerated speed. It was too bad that Grimer didn’t have any good moves to sketch. But at least this would be over rather quick. Hopefully. Sybil realized she was very anxious to see what was at the end of the tunnel, and she also feared that this battle would wear Koda out. What if she needed him when they got to the end? Better make some good decisions. “Great job, Koda! She’s paralyzed now. This should be simple. All you have to do is charge her from behind and use Thunderpunch, aiming for the wall like I asked before.” Sybil observed the situation again, wondering if there was any better advice to give. “Then, if that works use Body Slam to pin her against the wall. If it somehow doesn’t work, just find another opening and use Body Slam.” No point in overdoing the Thunderpunch. “And don’t forget my advice about the poison…” Poison gas. That’s what that was called, Sybil remembered. A small smile tugged at the corners of her lips, despite her attempt to keep a straight face. She would need to brush up on all these things when she had the chance… |

The Grimer struggled to make a move, but her paralysis was hindering her to the extreme. This made Koda's first job rather easy; he had no problem getting behind the blob of stink and lobbing in another accurate Thunderpunch. The Grimer let out another croak of pain as she hit the same wall, but was almost powerless to move much of anywhere. Smirking, Koda moved onto phase two. While the Grimer was trying to back her sludgy mass away from the wall, Koda fell on top of her. Yet, the attack didn't have the intended effect; while Koda did land on top of her, the Grimer spread out her mass until she was basically a puddle of toxic sludge. With practically zero weight under Koda, hardly any damage was dealt to the Grimer. Then, before Koda could fully recover from his surprise, Grimer reformed and, finding some mobility in her limbs, slapped your Smeargle away with Pound. Croaking angrily, the invertebrate started slithering towards Koda, but once again lost mobility. Koda narrowed his eyes, now knowing that using Body Slam on an almost-living puddle of sludge wouldn't do any good. Neither of you had been aware of that, so some more strategy was in order...And this Grimer was getting angry. Lv. 6 22/37 77%(Paralyzed) VS Lv. 6 27/37 74%(Speed +2) |

O_O <-- Sybil’s face as the Grimer spread out into a toxic puddle. This time she didn’t suppress the shiver that ran down her spine. Eeeeewww… Ew. Ew. Sybil grimaced as she glanced at the Thing again. Ugghh… Just kill it, Koda. She thought, averting her eyes to observe their captor for a moment. What a jerk- he was just going to stand there while Koda took care of this? He probably had a Pokémon that could deal with it pretty easy. Or maybe he didn’t… and he was completely vulnerable, here with her and Koda. “Er… OK, so no more Body Slamming, huh? Let’s stick with the tried and the true: But this time, Growl first to lower her defense, then Charge the Thing from behind again and use Thunderpunch,…” Sybil was a little anxious that the Grimer might have caught on by now, but put her faith in the fact that it was paralyzed… … Although, paralysis could obviously be broken through every once in a while. Sybil had seen it happen a few times. “… And if that doesn’t work, at least get the Growl in, and find an opening for the Thunderpunch. Also, watch out for that silly Pound. Your speed is accelerated; you should be able to dodge her attacks if you pay attention for them.” Sybil thought over her directions and nodded slowly. It sounded like it would work out well, but she wished she had more moves to work with. Ah well, there would be plenty of time to work on that later. If there was a later. I’ve gotta stop psyching myself out. |

Your Smeargle nodded as it received your orders and started out with the growl. It lowered its body a bit to make eye contact and let out as horrifying a growl as it could. Fortunately for you the Grimer had been paying attention when Smeargle started growling. The Grimer shivered for a moment, trying to get out of the paralyzed state so it could finally attack, but do to both the paralysis and the effects of a frighteningly effective growl it wasn’t able to move. Your Smeargle took full advantage of this and ran around behind the Grimer, thunderpunch already crackling as he charged the attack. He closed in with the Grimer just as the Grimer got a bit of its mobility back and swung around to meet your Smeargle with a hit of its own. It swung and tried striking with a pound attack just as Smeargle was launching its thunderpunch. Amazingly both attacks passed each other but connected with the other Pokémon. So while Smeargle make have been hit, he wasn’t as affected because his attack sent the Grimer flying backwards again, into another wall. The Grimer slid down the wall and laid there for a few seconds, as if it were completely unable to move. After a few seconds it started moving again, trying to regain its senses back, but could only make partial movements. Your Smeargle, on the other hand, was perfectly fine were it stood; it looked up at you for further instructions. Now the moment of truth, will you have your Smeargle lay down the law on this Grimer and show it whose boss, or are you going to capture it? Either way you better make your decision fast, the guy behind you seemed a bit annoyed at how long this was taking and was likely to make that fact known any second now. This round went pretty well. And with the Grimer’s attack lowered, there wasn’t much of a chance to lose this. Sybil realized she could catch this Grimer if she wanted and add another member to her party, which would be a great help in a fight… But she was pretty quick in vetoing that thought. There was just no way she would be able to work with a Grimer. Okay, so that sounded completely prejudiced—however… well, yeah, that’s exactly what it was. Grimer Prejudice. “This should be pretty simple, Koda. And I don’t want you using all of your energy, since we don’t know what’s coming up…” Sybil could feel the annoyance from the guy behind her. This was kind of a stressful situation to be working under. “Let’s just finish this. Careful for any attacks, but aim another Thunderpunch at the Grimer. If one Thunderpunch doesn’t knock her out, then go in for a second… Two Thunderpunches should finish her off, I believe. And make them count so you don’t have to use too much energy.” Sybil was pretty concerned about that. She didn’t want him on the verge of fainting. Koda breathed heavily for a moment or two to catch his breath. His anger had been channeled at the Grimer, but with his opponent about to faint his mind started to return to their situation. The smeargle hopped from foot to foot as he received his directions, eager to finish this and turn on the guy instead. So maybe Sybil wouldn’t allow that, but he could dream. (( Sorry these past posts have pretty much sucked- I’m not sure what to put in battle posts ^-^; )) |

((Don't worry. They're fine.)) Grimer and Koda's fight was taking a bit too long for the man behind you. Sadly for you and Koda, he was perhaps too lazy or too impatient to bother to help by sending out his own Pokémon. Besides, it'd all be too late now. Koda was seconds away from winning. He ran up to Grimer one last time and aimed an electrifying punch at the ball of slime. Koda was determined to win this with one shot and Grimer was in no position to protest. Koda connected solidly (or as solidly as one can with a creature that has no form) and Grimer just appeared to give up. There was no way that it could win and the blob just collapsed. Koda's fighting attitude made for a great scare tactic. Lv.6 0/37 70%(paralyzed) (attack -1) Lv.6 21/37 58%(speed +2) KODA WON THE BATTLE KODA GAINED 60 EXP KODA GREW TO LEVEL 7 Great. Now the art gallery manager led you further down the corridor into a brightly lit room. Here it looked like an art studio rather than a gallery. The man motioned you to stay put while he went off and did something. Well, you could do that, or you could mess around with some paints and pencils and other art supplies. Perhaps some good art would lessen your 'punishment.' Either way, an entire art studio was before you. Look around, have some fun. Just don't break anything. You're in enough trouble already. ((Same as the gallery, describe what you'd like. I'm not much of an artist, so I'm describing as little of that stuff as possible.)) |

Woohoo, second battle won! Koda was exhausted, but his triumph fueled him enough to stand straight and continue walking. With a satisfied grin, he eyed the fainted Grimer as he followed the two humans down the corridor. His pride was growing with his wins… and, the astonished Sybil noticed, so was his thirst for a fight. He used to be pretty calm, for the most part, but since they had arrived in Tohea his interest for battling had doubled-- maybe tripled. In a way it was unnerving. But at the same time, he hadn’t done anything wrong and he kept his aggressions directed at the right person. Sybil waited for Koda to start walking, then followed beside him. Both of them were quiet. There was really nothing to say; Koda knew Sybil was happy with the win and she was nervous about what they were headed towards, and Sybil knew that Koda was tensed and ready to fight. The two shared one knowing glance before they entered the room. At least they weren’t alone. Koda entered first, and his abrupt stop caused Sybil to nearly run into him. She recovered quickly and looked up to see what was so surprising. Suddenly, the offense of being dragged away from the gallery was lessened. Although there was a difference between appreciating art and making art, when Sybil and Koda worked together they weren’t half bad. They had actually won a contest or two back home. And this nice, huge, private studio was not what they had expected at the end of the corridor. Perhaps they had died and gone to heaven? Holy sh**. Sybil gently moved Koda aside so they could both scavenge the place while the man was gone. What was with him leaving them like this, anyway? He had let them look at the paintings back at the gallery, and now he left them, alone, with this entire studio. First of all, who was to say they wouldn’t try to escape? Fat f***ing chance. She thought with a chuckle, glancing cautiously over her shoulder before picking up a beautiful sable haired brush. It was questionable why she and Koda would decide to stay purely for the sake of painting, but they did… My vote says their just crazy. With the man gone, Koda felt entirely free to drag out a canvas and set it up on an easel. Using his own tail he began to paint an abstract picture. It was fun, until the idea to vandalize the place crossed his mind. That would be even more fun, heheh… I mean, what wasn’t fun about expressing your dislike of something through art on someone else’s walls? With a shifty glance at Sybil, who had grabbed a large flat brush to splatter paint on the canvas with (We can just call that abstract, eh?), Koda snatched his own large flat brush and dipped it in a neon green paint. This was probably not the best idea—however, Koda couldn’t care less. By the time Sybil realized what Koda was doing, it was too late. One whole wall was covered in an intense, neon-green design. Ahhhhhhhhh!!! Koda, what the hell?? “Ahhhhhhhhh! Koda, what the heck?” So, she censors herself. But now’s not the time to think about that, so stop! Sybil stared wide-eyed at the wall. “…What were you thinking? They’re going to kill us!” Koda stepped back to examine his work. He didn’t seem worried in the least. He had the same, satisfied grin that he had when the Grimer fainted. “Sme? Smear smeargle mear mear sme.” Basically translated: What? It’s my best piece so far. And Sybil had to admit that from a non-biased outlook, it was rather beautiful. Intricate and shocking. Definitely shocking. But somehow she didn’t think their captors would see it the same way… Although, here’s hoping. |
