“Oh my…” breathed Bebe when she saw the glowing red gem in the man’s hand. She was in awe. To come across the very stone that could give her starter Pokémon a large boost in power this early in her journey was just astounding. The only thing to stand in her way was a completely ridiculous man (with his obnoxious antics that only served to make him look more foolish than ever) and his not-so-ridiculous Bagon. Now she knew why she felt that fearful presence in her stomach before she entered the park: this Pokémon was ready to battle and it looked quite strong.

It seemed, however, that she was the only one that suffered such reluctance to battle. Gogo’s pokeball was vibrating violently against her waist, although that could just be the presence of the Fire Stone that was causing her reaction. Even Era began to breathe heavily at the mere thought of battle. Bebe deemed it wise to interrupt her before the battle so that she wouldn’t do anything drastic. “Not now, little one. This one is much too tough for you. I wouldn’t want you to get hurt in your first battle,” she whispered to Era. Not only was the Bagon obviously at a higher level than Era, but it was a Bagon! Era wouldn’t have stood much of a chance at all. She did feel bad though when she heard Era sigh. It was very important for Era to prove her worth by battling, Bebe knew that, but what was the point of risking extreme damage by fighting a much more highly-leveled Pokémon?

Besides, what exactly did he mean by this test that might come in handy in the future? Was she to be just some pawn in this smelly man’s game? Well, she didn’t have much of a choice. Fire Stones just didn’t come around very often, and while she would definitely wait to use it on Gogo until she was ready for it, it would be nice for Bebe to not have to worry about finding one later in her career. She couldn’t really do much else but fight this man. As she said before, she walked into it herself and could blame nobody else if something went wrong. Bebe decided to risk it.

“All right you creepy old man. I’ll play along and fight for that stone. But trust me, I won’t go down easily!” said Bebe. She threw Gogo’s still-vibrating pokeball in the air and released the fox Pokémon. Gogo appeared with both eyes completely focused on the Fire Stone in the man’s hand and barked cutely into the air in order to prepare herself for the inevitable battle. She knew what she had to do in order to obtain the Stone, which was the thing that would help her evolve into a majestic Ninetales and fulfill her wish for more power. Eyes narrowed and fiery, Gogo turned to Bebe for guidance on what to do in order to initiate the first move.

Once again, Bebe was startled by the sudden change in her adorable Vulpix, but she pushed that aside in order to direct her. Bebe did have one ace up her sleeve. While she was going through her Poketch, she saw an attack that her Vulpix had capacity to learn that was extremely powerful. Bebe decided that it was time to try to teach it to Gogo. “Gogo! It’s time for drastic measures. I want you to combine Ember and Skull Bash into one attack! Use Ember and shoot the flames straight ahead while using Skull Bash to propel yourself through them in order to engulf yourself in fire before making contact. This attack is called Flare Blitz. It’s a really powerful move, but there is some recoil, so prepare yourself. Okay, let’s go!” Bebe hoped that the time was right for her to be teaching Gogo such a formidable and dangerous move. Both she and Gogo really wanted that prize and she felt that they would both sacrifice whatever in order to obtain it. Era watched intently while Bebe gritted her teeth in preparation for the battle that would take place.

[I hope it's alright for me to try to teach this move. I didn't really see anything in the section that says you can't teach egg moves, but I can change it if you PM me or inform me in some way. I'll just take out the whole thing about teaching Flare Blitz and just have her use Ember and Skull Bash. Thanks.]

{{Tony didn't get this ref because it is a move teaching post. Only Gmods and up can do them.}}

The battle would start off simply now, as the 'hobo' -how Tony so quaintly put it- leaned his back against the tree once more. He closed his eyes cockily as he seemed not to care what you did, and at that point in time is when you gave your first orders to Gogo. "Ryuu, Dragon Dance, then focus up and use Rage." The man ordered in a semi-hushed tone from where he stood, not even opening his eyes to see how things were going.

With the commands now set, both Pokémon were ready for the battle to commence! First off, both Pokémon prepared themselves for their commands; Gogo was supposed to go ahead and use a combination she had NEVER seen, heard of, and especially never practiced, but she hoped not to let you down! With a loud calling of her species' name, Gogo started calling forth flames into her mouth.

Ryuu, the Bagon, on the other side of the field was dancing 'til his heart's content, little did you know that this was a sacred ritual of a dance that was slowly causing Ryuu to become much stronger, faster even. Though, if you would've been paying close enough attention, you could've seen that with every few steps, the dance became much quicker, making it a bit difficult to see his feet after a while.

NOW the true battle began once Gogo started darting towards Bagon, her head enveloped by a clear energy called upon by Skull Bash. With a calling of her name once more, she released the pellets of flame directly ahead of her while she darted, allowing them to bounce off the 'helmet' of energy she has created and making her look like a flaming arrow as she darted towards Bagon. Though, from where you stood, you could see that the combination was working, but not in the way the attack was supposed to work. In truth, Flare Blitz is supposed to be an eruption of flame from the users body, but the flames were hardly even touchin Gogo's body, maybe a simple headbutt would be better next time, aye?

Either way, as Gogo made her way towards Bagon, the little dragon took on a look of sheer anger. Readying itself for the attack as it placed its arms directly ahead of it, prepared to push Gogo back as she came, and soon enough, Gogo slammed right into his hands and continued to push on with immense force, the ember that she constantly released now causing a burn to the Bagon's hands. "Ba..." The Pokémon said, as the fire fueled his Rage attack, while he pulled one arm back and started sliding back from Vulpix's strength. "GON!" The Pokémon called as it clenched its hand into a fist, and knocked on Vulpix's skull as hard as it could.

Luckily enough for Gogo, the Skull Bash energy had protected it slightly, but either way she was sent back pretty far from the attack only to land ahead of you firmly. "Bagon..." The Pokémon said, eyes filled with Rage as it bared its teeth towards the two of you and waited for the next round of battle.

[Tony: I understand now! I will try to fix that problem in the future.]

Ooh. That didn’t go so well for Gogo. The round of battle that had just ensued made Bebe realize that maybe she shouldn’t try to teach such an advanced move to a Pokémon during such a difficult battle. It was obvious that Flare Blitz was a difficult move that required a lot of training in order to pull of effectively. Lots of training that neither Bebe nor Gogo had done before that battle, as seen by Gogo’s failure to complete the attempt.

“That was a good try Gogo, but we’ll work on that move later!” shouted Bebe. She bit her lip while she thought about a strategy to use against the raging Bagon, but nothing came to her. “Era, what should we do?” she whispered to the Pokémon on her shoulder, knowing that Era’s response wouldn’t have been understood. The moral support of Era was appreciated, but it didn’t really help Bebe much in terms of winning that battle.

At that point, the Bagon was in the midst of a powerful Rage attack that didn’t seem likely to stop soon, Gogo had barely hurt her opponent more than she hurt herself with an attack that didn’t work, and Bebe was losing confidence quickly. In fact, the only good thing that came about from Gogo’s failed attack was that Bagon was burned. She thought of a way to use that to her advantage. Using what she knew about Bagon and the attack it was using, Bebe formulated a strategy.

“Gogo! That Bagon is much faster than it was when we started, so use Agility to speed yourself up, and then go for its eyes with Scratch!” Although it was a brutal tactic to use, Bebe figured that Bagon wouldn’t be able to hit Gogo no matter how brutal its rage. She also thought it would also open up more modes of attack in their future. Gogo nodded and began her attack.

Both Pokémon took stand at each other, sustaining to trying to rip each other to shreds. Gogo had enough of the standoff and shot her adrenaline up with a boost from Agility. But two could play at that game; Bagon used his boost of speed from earlier to calm his infuriating outrage but failed to do so and had a hard time maneuvering himself in and out from Gogo's area.

The silent but extraordinary burn from Bagon's wrist made him wince for a mere split-second which gave Gogo an opening to throttle in and make a moderately powerful mark. But Bagon had caught up to her in the act and used his rock-hard skull to bash away poor Gogo with a Pound.

The thing is, now that the Bagon was burned, you could try to taunt with him a bit and dodge as much of his attacks as possible as his burn increases in strength and swallows more of Bagon's health. But that would take too long so you would need to devise a more careful tactic to get by this maddened Pokémon.

[[Sorry about waiting so long to post. FFTA2 is slowly consuming my entire life. Thank you!]]

The circumstances that Bebe and her Pokémon were facing were far from perfect. Her battle hadn’t been going well at all, and she seemed to have failed in every venture she attempted, from a failed eye scratch attack to a botched attempt to teach Gogo a move. It was almost enough to make a girl want to give up and go home.

Bebe actually did kind of want to go home at that moment before she realized what the hell she was thinking. She thought, “What the hell was I just thinking?” She thought, “I was thinking about going home. How dumb of me. I should not be thinking that. Home is not fun, which is why I ran away.” A glazed look came over her face as she pondered the thought processes that occurred within her brain, triggering an outward silence only broken by an insistent cough by Era.

Bebe looked at the Riolu, who was still on her shoulder, still yearning to battle, and still only level 1. It was obvious that she wasn’t to be relied on in this fight. “I wish Era could get a taste of this. Gogo’s not doing so hot and I have nothing else to try. Oh well, I guess I’ll figure something out,” Bebe thought. She only realized that she said it out loud when Era snorted a little and looked at her with narrowed eyes. “Umm, you’re cute?” she tried. Era just looked to the skirmish and ignored her.

And Bebe still couldn’t think of a strategy that could help her take advantage of the Bagon’s burned status. She also couldn’t think of any attacks that Gogo would know that would hit it hard enough to bring it out of its rage, which in Bebe’s mind was the reason that they weren’t doing so well. She supposed that once the thing calmed down it would be far too tired to resist any attacks and automatically give up. At least, that’s what she hoped because Gogo wasn’t getting anywhere very quickly.

Well, there was nothing that Bebe could think of to do, so she decided to stall for ti- let the burn continue on its course of total domination of the Pokémon’s body by taunting it and basically telling Gogo to be a complete ass. Thinking of asses gave Bebe an idea for this course of taunting and evading attacks. Finally snapping out of her trance, Bebe called out her little plan to the vulpine Pokémon.

“Gogo, since I’m having some trouble deciding what we could do right now to win, I just want you to stall by using Agility to speed in a circle around Bagon while stopping periodically to use Tail Whip. And make sure you put some ‘tude in those Tail Whips. Maybe provoking him could make him do something stupid that we can take advantage of.” Gogo smiled (with her eyes, you see) and started to rev her engine.

The irritation in Bagon's palms were only heating up Bagon's Rage like a furnace. The burn singed it's hands once again without ever being merciful which blew Bagon's cap off as he screamed endlessly into the sky. The Firestone-wielding hobo still had that enigmatic stare pounded into his eyes which felt penetrating and unnerving to say the least. His muscles haven't even twitched no matter what the consequences were welled upon his Bagon. He only stood there and stared at you with a frightful consumption of interest.

Gogo was ever more likely to be fast than the stubby legged Bagon who was too deeply sunk into the pain that scourged his flesh while Gogo kept running circles around Bagon. Every few revolutions she sprints out, Gogo would instantly falter he steps and do a fake attack at the Rock Head Pokémon when it guard isn't as tentative as it's on his burning skin.

Bagon growled under his breath but Gogo's speed with unmatched and untraceable so his oral comments and grunts didn't reach Gogo's ears. Bagon jabbed out in a blind fury in an attempt of catching Gogo in the act but failed hopelessly numerous times as she faked her appearance and leaped out of Bagon's range.

First it seemed as if nothing was going to get Gogo, but the banana peel maneuver was something that the Bagon had to conclude with if he wanted to temporarily paralyze the obnoxious Vulpix. At such a sudden rate that Gogo didn't anticipate, Bagon whipped his stubby legs right beneath Gogo's set of paws and tripped her head-first into the ground with him following right behind, nearly plummeting into Gogo.

But fortunately Bagon's burnt hands made him skid as he yelped loudly when the stinging burn arose from his palms yet again, stopping him from putting Gogo into a half-Nelson. Gogo scrambled into a balanced posture and quickly rocketed back to your side before the Bagon made any more surprise attacks. The hobo on the other side simply grunted in response to the round. From the looks of it, your Vulpix is going to evolve into evolve into a Kyuubi soon! Let's just hope you win and that this grimy old man actually kept his word.
