"I do not think there is any thrill that can go through the human heart like that felt by the inventor as he sees some creation of the brain unfolding to success... such emotions make a man forget food, sleep, friends, love, everything." - Nikola Tesla

A gentle wind blew past as you stepped in the sunlight. The buildings around you glimmered like stars in the blinding light. People wore sunglasses to fight the glare although several were looking at you now. It might've been your suit or something like that. You heard one boy ask his mother if you were Ironman's wife or something. He was immediately shushed by the mother who hurried him away. Well, this was going to be interesting. As you glanced around, you noticed an old woman shuffling about with a basket full of what could be catnip. She hummed to herself as she strode along, using her walker as a crutch. She finally looked up at you, her thick glasses making her eyes appear huge. Her clothes were covered in cat fur and she blinked owlishly up at you. The old woman seemed to realize you were a trainer and brightened immediately. "Oh, hello dearie. My, my, can I ask you a favor?" Not waiting for your answer, she pulled out her wallet from her huge purse. She shuffled through several old pictures before finally pulling one out to show you. On it was what looked like a Glameow with a certain royal air about her. The cat itself was unremarkable except for the ripped up right ear. "Miss Lucy got out of the house on Friday. I'm so worried. Could you help find her?" Her voice was raspy as though all she did was breathe in cat fur. "I can reward you handsomely for your trouble." Well, who knows what that meant but it shouldn't be too hard to find a cat, right? |

Metallix pondered for a while, wondering whether she should help the old lady. The Pokémon didn't look familiar to her at all. She looked at the pokeball in her hands, containing the Skarmory recently given to her. Then turned back to the lady for a second glance at the picture. Wow. It must be some kind of native Pokémon. Well, she IS an old lady, and she looks like she can't find it by herself. Besides, how hard can it be to find a Pokémon? I got one already! Metallix boldly stood up with her arms folded ready to help out. "Alright maam. I'll find Miss Lucy for you. Where did you last see her?" |

The old woman's wrinkled features flushed with relief. "Thank you, Dearie. I haven't seen Miss Lucy since Friday morning, whenever I put out her tuna. Some of the windows were open, so she may have jumped outside. I've told that lazy butler of mine to keep an eye on her...," the woman trailed off, her voice suddenly a little bitter. "Anyway, she may be playing down near the fish market," the woman said, pointing in the general direction where they were located. "She loves fish. Practically addicted to them, even. She won't eat anything else except for Sweet Poffins." Interesting info, but could you even trust yourself to find the fish market? The old woman hadn't exactly been specific. She had been kind enough, however, to point in the general direction of the place. You were probably also reluctant to even go near fish, considering how bad they smelled. But still...what wouldn't most people do to please an elderly person. "I'm sorry Dearie, but I need to get along with my shopping," the old woman finally said, hobbling off on her walker. "This is my shopping basket" she lifted up the catnip-filled basket here "but I hope to attract Miss Lucy with it. Please find her!" With this last plea, she went into a nearby grocery store, and you could see her shuffling through the produce aisle through the glass windows. She looked a little sad, and you couldn't really blame her. So...Still keen to find her precious kitty? |

Looking around the general location Metallix did seem quite lost. She wasn't even in the right region let alone the right place. Maybe this errand was going to be tougher than she first expected. A swirling mess of confusion seemed to fill her head as she repeatedly looked around her immediate location, but Metallix dared not let it show on the outside. Instead she made it look like she was confidently waiting for someone. Great. Where's the fish market? Is this place even by the sea? Why didn't she give me a picture of the cat? What if I forget what it looks like? I'd much rather do her shopping instead but finding a cat doesn't seem like job for an old lady Then an idea came. To anyone else it would have been the first thing they'd think of doing, but to the cunningly adraft mind of Metallix, it was near the last. Maybe my Pokémon can help me find the cat Metallix grasped her pokeball and threw it, almost imitating the kids she saw now and then releasing Pokémon. "Go Skarmory!" The silver bird appeared in a streak of light. It looked pleased to be freed from its pokeball. Skarmory turned towards Metallix, awaiting his orders. Intimidated by Skarmory's glaring eyes, Metallix searched the mess of confusion in her mind in an attempt to come up with a brilliant way out of this situation. She had received Skarmoy in Tohea, maybe he'd know something about the place. "Okay Skarmory, tell me where the fish market is!" Skarmory simply stared at Metallix with a "you've got to be kidding me" look. Metallix picked up on it and tried a different approach. "Okay....can you tell me where I kind find a Sweet Poffin.....whatever that is" After a moment of silence Skarmory let out an annoyed screech. "Oh I forgot. You can't speak english. Darnit!" Skarmory turned away and let out what sounded like a sigh. Metallix didn't want her Pokémon to dislike her, so she tried to make amends. She put her arm over Skarmory's wing in sympathy. "Look. I'm sorry. I never studied Pokémon okay?" Suddenly the bird took off into the air, leaving Metallix behind in surprise. "Hey!," she shouted pursuing Skarmory on the ground, "That's not a nice way to treat your trainer!" Metallix continued to chase her Pokémon through the city with everyone watching until it eventually landed. Panting from exhaustion, she approached Skarmory and leant on top of him. "Ha! I knew I'd outrun you, you silvery eagle you!" After catching her breath, Metallix looked around, and found she was in a very different area of the city than before. She glared at Skarmory through her shades. "This had better be the fish market or else........or else.......we're lost" |

Unfortunately for you you followed Skarmory in the exact opposite direction that the old lady was nice enough to point towards. You didn't even notice with your lack of sense of direction. Skarmory landed out of his feeling sorry for you chasing after him. He didn't even really know how to treat a trainer like you. He looked more confused than concerned as you caught your breath, screaming about catching up to him. "Hey! You with the goofy suit! Is that your Skarmory?" A boy with brown hair and green eyes was walking up to you while throwing a pokeball up and catching it repeatedly. Without waiting for a reply he released his Pokémon. Out of the white flash came a Geodude. It was a Pokémon made entirely of rock versus your bird made entirely out of metal, for the time being. "I'm challenging you to a battle! As a Pokémon trainer you are technically not allowed to reject, unless you're a big, fat chicken that is!" The boy was dressed in a white T-Shirt and dark blue pants. Around his wrist was an orange poketech. His shiny white shoes had the power to blind you at the right angle with the sun, but your suit glinted off the sun in a much more powerful way. You were kind of looking for a Pokémon, but I'm sure that the woman wouldn't mind considering she might even forget you existed by the time she reached her house. Your choice, Skarmory looked ready to battle though, letting out a loud and high pitched screeching noise. |

(This is getting exciting! Sorry if I godmodded before) It was a bit of a shock to suddenly be challenged to a battle in a strange city, especially when she was preoccupied with the old lady's errand. Accepting a challenge would mean Metallix might have to abandon her duty to the old lady. She looked at Skarmory, bent over in a defensive position, determined to battle. Metallix thought he might even take off again. Hmm. Another sticky situation. Well at least I tried to get the cat back. Even if I fail to rescue Miss Lucy, she'll probably wind up at the pound, or someone else will find her, or the lady might even get a new cat that doesn't run away. What have I got to lose here anyway? Except my reputation, but I'll just change names again. Metallix proudly stepped forward. Her head held high. This was her chance to get the hang of battling. A warrior never turns down a challenge. Wait. Maybe while I'm here I can kill two birds with one stone "Okay kid. I accept your challenge, but if I win, you tell me how to get to the fish market. I'm on an important investigation of which the fate of an innocent life could depend on!" Well a cat's life, but it's still an innocent life right? |

The kid looked at you confused, with a slight hint of hatred. "Your trying to save someone? You couldn't save money if you.. Uhhm.. Had a bank!" He stuttered sarcastically, well it wasn't the best insult ever, but you get the point, this kid is a brat. The Geodude he possesed hovered by the boys side, not moving, not even talking. It didn't seem to have the same attitude as the boy, thats a good thing. The boy didn't seem like he wanted to waste any time whatsoever, he was bounching up and down on his feet. "Ok Geodude, use Mega punch on that oversized chicken!" Not only was this boy not going to wait for you to start, he had screemed in a high pitch voice. God kid, hit puberty already. Despite the kids hormone issues, the Geodude quickly threw himself at your skarmory. Its rocky arms glowed white until the fists were no longer visible as a grey rock. As it got closer to your skarmory, it quickly faked swinging its right fist, and followed through with its left. Hitting skarmory's left wing and knocking it backwards off of its perch. lv.5hp: 35/35 eng: 88% lv.5hp: 30/35 eng: 100% Edited by Ashy, Jun 6 2008, 03:32 AM.

(Okay I hope I'm doing this okay) After being knocked over, Skarmory quickly got back on his feet and let out a piercing squawk, as if to say "Alright, now it's personal!" Metallix tried to remember what she had learnt from observing Pokémon battles in the past. Was there a type advantage or disadvantage to take note of here? What attacks does Skarmory know anyway? In a pirsuit of knowledge, she pointed her poketech at Geodude. :pokedex - "Geodude: A rock type Pokémon. Geodude is impossible to distinguish from rocks. It slams against others in contests of hardness" Hmmm. That's right. Rock Pokémon are hard so they must have high defense, and I heard somewhere they're usually weakened by water......Maybe if Skarmory can lower its defense he might have a chance of winning! With her strategic plan in place, Metallix got ready to deliver her orders to the steel bird. "Skarmory. See if you can gain some altitude! Fly up and use leer!" As soon as the boy heard you command your Pokémon to 'fly' up in the air, he began to look pretty pissed off. "Thats not fair, your breaking my rules!" Again with the high-pitched screaming. Didn't it just make you wanna through something at him? Oh, and hopefully you caught the part of his little outburst that is most important: 'My rules'. Cheeky little kid seemed to like manipulating battles to his advantage. But no matter. Skarmory was high above Geodude now, safe from the opposing trainer's insatiable blood-lust. It seemed obvious that the boy was awaiting an explanation, but Skarmory's leer sent Geodude reeling from his hovering stance.. just above the ground in fact. Perhaps the rock Pokémon was all bark and no bite, just like his trainer? Anyway it seemed as though your attack had completely suceeded.. except that as soon as Skarmory came down to attack, Geodude would be ready to strike. For the first time in the entire battle, the little brat said nothing. Only watched and waited, like a venamous snake stalking its' prey. |

For the first time, Metallix seemed to be required to have some sort of strategy in play. If Skarmory came down to strike, Geodude may just be ready to strike back and take him by surprise. Yet Skarmory couldn't possibly win if he stayed in the air all day. One thing that made this battle difficult was Skarmory's lack of strong attacks. If Skarmory had known that attack called "steel wing" or "metal claw" it would make things a little easier. However Metallix realised she had to make do with what she had. I have to somehow attack where his defense is lowest. Great. Where's the weak point of a rock? Well, there's a first time for everything Having thought a little, yet not very much, Metallix cried to the skies, sending out her next command. "Skarmory. Try to get behind Geodude and use peck!" |

As oyu shouted you commands the little kid screamed at his Geodude, "Geodude look out!" but the Pokémon wasn't listening, you were sure this Pokémon didn't like the trainer anymore than you did. Skarmory flew down, abruptly landing behind the Geodude in a huff, stirring rocks with the grounds impact, the Geodude who had finaly realised what just happened, turned around, just to get a peck right to the face. What an odd thing this was, though the move was flying based, the birds beak was entirely steel, the attack was more effective than you would have thought, as the Geodude retaliated with a couple of improvised, defensive punches. Your Skarmory hardly flinched and took back to the sky before landing again on your side of the field.
