The man laughed at your question and grabbed a pokeball off his belt, "Ninetales, use Heat Wave to warm him up." He commanded as the pokeball erupted and revealed a majestic ninetales that released a powerful waves of energy out towards you and your Pokémon, almost instantly drying you off before she walked back over to her trainer, sitting down behind him with her tails wrapped around him as a blanket. "Come on, I'll explain it all." The man said as he started walking towards cabin you hadn't noticed until just now. Though, was it smart to follow him? You didn't know, but it seemed as though Pichu wanted to go while he quickly started running that way, probably trying to escape a second coming of that 'dance.' So as you, Pichu, and Pidgey headed into the man's cabin to find it incredibly warm in there, the man waved you over to a couple of chairs in the kitchen. He smiled at you three and started speaking. "See, every few days Mantine and Mantyke swim up over here to the shores of Wayford. They always follow the same pattern of movements, but change direction constantly, that's what you saw a little while ago. See, they jump out of the water, and if you notice they use their psychic powers to eminate an energy that allows them to glow, and if you look at the waters, the glowing energy end up looking like humans dancing." He explained, then smiled and started walking about. "See Mantyke and Mantine are Mantaray Pokémon, and are supposed to be incredibly hard to find around here. Only a few people ever stick around for the dance, because only a few people even know about it. There is always a little Mantyke by the docks, releasing energy so that people can come see the dance, but few pay it any attention. Supposedly, anyone who sees the Pokémon's dance is blessed by them, and will recieve a sort of... special power." The man said, then looked over to his Ninetales as she came back over to him. "I myself was blessed with my beloved ninetales, and thank the Mantyke and Mantine every time they come around, always wishing that someone else will be blessed like I was." He smirked, and looked at his Ninetales, who was now walking down the hall of the cabin into a room. "Well, I dunno if you all believe me or not, but it's something that shouldn't be taken lightly. If you like, the dance should continue for the next few hours, or you could stick around here for the night, we have a spare room for you." He said, almost as if he had especially designed this entire encounter, just for you. So, what would you do? Stick around? Go outside? What? |

Kenneth shut his eyes tightly as the blast of heat washed over him, drying him off rather quickly. Relieved to be warm again, he opened his eyes, smiled weakly, and nodded to the Ninetales out of appreciation. He took a look at both of his Pokémon to ensure that they were doing well also. Once he had confirmed this, his attention turned back to the strange old man, who invited the young trainer into his home. The boy was rather wary of the stranger because the man had seemingly appeared out of nowhere (as had the cabin that he was now approaching). But, since his Pichu was already following, he decided that there couldn't be too much harm in hearing what the guy had to say. It was rather warm inside of the old geezer's cabin, but not uncomfortably so. Kenny looked around to survey the structure and found that it was a rather simple place. That was to be expected of a place so small and secluded that one could not usually notice it from the coastline. With Pidgey still on his shoulder, he followed the man into the kitchen and took a seat in one of the offered chairs while Pichu jumped up onto the table. He bore and expression of curious interest in the explanation that the old guy was giving. It seemed that he'd happened upon a rather rare occurence that few were able to witness. What an honor. "Heh heh. First that crazy Meowth incident, and now this." Kenny muttered after the man had finished, wearing a smirk upon his face. "I don't know how I missed all this action growing up around here. Now that I'm ready to leave, it seems like all the fun is here in Wayford." He certainly wasn't upset about all the action he was getting already; on the contrary, he saw the events as good omens for his coming journey. It was going well before he'd even left the city, so chances were that it would continue to go quite swimmingly once he finally got out of the city. Then again, things had a habit of going wrong just when one thought that they should go well. In any case, the choice to make was clear; who the hell would refuse the opportunity to view a rarely-seen occurence. Not Kenny. "Thanks for the breakdown, Mister." He said with a smile and a nod. "I think I wanna watch the 'Ray's Dance.' Hopefully, I won't get so drenched this time, though." With that said, the kid got to his feet and waited for his old host to lead him back out to the Mantaray Pokémon. He wasn't sure how much stock he placed in this "blessing" or the "special abilities" that he might get, but when it came to Pokémon, stranger truths had been confirmed. And, with a new world opening up to him and a long journey ahead of him, Kenneth felt the need to take all the help that he could get. |

The man nodded as he walked you out and smiled, "Good luck out there." He said as he closed the door once you exited and shut off the lights in his little cabin for the night, leaving you outside in the dark with Pichu and Pidgey. While the three of you stood outside in the dark, the only light coming from the Mantyke and Mantine dancing over the waters, it seemed as though something was looking at you from a nearby 'dock' made of stone and coral. As the three of you made your way over to the dock, the image of a small blue Pokémon made itself visible to you, only to start glowing a faint purple after a while. Lv. 8 (Using Mirror Coat)"Man..." The little Mantyke said as it looked up at you, and jumped out of the water a little only to land in it a little while later. This continued for a while, until the Mantyke started using a bubble attack to leave letters in the water. If you'd been paying attention, you could see that the letters formed words, and eventually when she was done, the words would read: Take me with you. Hm... was there more to this little Mantyke then meets the eye? Was she a transformer!? Well, there was only one way to figure it out, {{Whichever one you choose, you'll still need to request me xD}} |

Kenneth turned around rather quickly when he heard the door shut behind him. He'd expected the old man to come out and watch the dance with him before going through with his offer to allow the boy to stay in his house. Apparently, he had only been given the option of choosing one thing or the other, not booth. "Eh. Oh well." Kenneth thought in the silence of the dark night. "At least I have those Pokémon and my own to keep me company." So, he continued forward with his two friends to watch the Water Pokémon dance the Ray's Dance. He could see the Mantaray Pokémon moving gracefully into and out of the water from a distance, but did not reach them before he was distracted by a significant interruption. A Mantaray Pokémon that was separated from the others caught his eye, but it didn't seem to be separated by accident. It seemed to have captured the trainer's attention rather deliberately, and the glowing effect that it currently displayed certainly did not detract from this theory. As if doing its own dance of sorts, the creature began to jump into and out of the water. A smile smile came across Kenny's case as he watched; it seemed as if this particular Pokémon wanted to dance just for him. The event grew more interesting when the Mantaray Pokémon (a Mantyke, according to a quick review by Kenny's Poketech) began shooting bubbles out. The action itself was rather unassuming, but upon closer inspection it could be seen that the bubbles formed a pattern. The trainer squinted his eyes and drew a bit nearer to the bubbles in an attempt to discern the pattern. Was it a picture? A message? A random assortment of bubbles that were far less significant than Kenny was making them out to be? As he looked more closely, their nature became clear. "Take...me...with...you?" He straightened up after deciphering the message, raising an eyebrow as he looked upon the Mantyke that had made it. In part, he was sizing it up. It was a young and unevolved creature obviously, and likely very open to new training. The fact that it offered itself to him so easily most likely meant that it was quite friendly, but possibly not all that strong. That didn't matter, though, as Kenny was the type to believe that just about any Pokémon could be strong with the correct training (though some stronger than others). The trainer had two more Pokeballs to spare. He pulled one of them off of his belt and enlarged it, looking at his potential new companion with a smirk. "I hope I read that right." He said. "If I did, you couldn't of chosen a better team. You're in for a real adventure. Believe that." The trainer threw his enlarged Pokeball at the target and waited for the effects to take place. Once this was done, he'd have caught two Pokémon in one day without breaking a sweat (excluding the sweating from running back and forth between the good and bad parts of Wayford, but that didn't count). Pretty good for a trainer who had yet to leave his hometown. |

So you had seen the words then, very good. "Man..." The Pokémon's voice chimed through the water as it jumped up into the air and tapped the pokeball you threw out of it as the red sphere landed in the water and started to shake back and forth with the waves that came in until -DING!- the pokeball rang and Mantyke had been caught. Though, the ball was going out into the ocean out of your reach unless you wanted to get wet. "Pidgey!" Your pidgey called as it quickly jumped up into the air, and over to the pokeball where it started to flap its wings rapidly and created a gust which pulled up a semi-large wave, causing the pokeball to go back to shore. Once the wave cleared, Pidgey looked at you and smiled, and then blinked, finally ending with a look of "Oops" on his face, he started flapping his wings rapidly. Why? Because the wave he had conjured splashed all over you and left your drenched, but atleast the pokeball had found itself a nice little hole to rest in, your mouth! Well, atleast you had your third Pokémon I suppose. "Mantyke..." The little mantaray burst from its pokeball as it rested in the water again, just relaxing in its natural habitat until you were ready to go. So, are you ready to go? Or did you want to stay and watch the show a little while longer? |

"Oomph!" Exclaimed Kenneth as the Pokeball entered his mouth. The wave that carried it pushed him back onto his rear end. He spat the Pokeball out into his hand and turned his eyes upon the Pokémon that had caused the incident. "Nice, Pidgey." He said with a sarcastic smile and some light laughter before climbing to his feet. As had been the case with all Pidgey, this new catch did not seem to want to remain in its ball at the present time. It burst forth in the characteristic white flash and appeared in the water. With a chuckle, Kenny said "Welcome to the group, Mantyke." He placed its Pokeball on his belt, for he was not yet ready to leave the place. "Come on. Let's go watch the rest of the Ray's Dance." Kenneth said. "I don't wanna miss out on any of the magic. Besides, I might as well now that I'm thoroughly soaked." An event so rare as the dance probably needed to be viewed in its entirety to get the full effect of it, and Kenny wanted it all. Perhaps this Mantyke, which could seemingly comprehend and produce human writing, was a blessing from the dance. Perhaps there was more to gain. If so, the newbie trainer wasn't about to miss out. Pichu stayed on his shoulder, Pidgey flew up above, and Mantyke swam along as the group continued on to the end of the dock to view the rest of the dance. |

Taking a seat on the dock -since it was wobbly, it wasn't very safe to stand- you continued to watch the dance. Watching as Mantyke and Mantine alike leapt from the water, glowing brightly with their psychic energies eminating off of them. Soon enough, you noticed as the Pokémon that leapt from the water became less frequent, and soon enough they wern't even coming up anymore. Though, there were a few Mantine and Mantyke just laying about relaxing, your Poketech taking it upon itself to gather information on then. "Maaann..." You heard one of the Mantine call from afar as it made a final leap into the sky, its body seeming to go OVER the moon, leaving an arch of light pinkish energy behind it as it leapt. "Tyke..." Your Mantyke said as it swam out a bit further, and notified its parents that it'd be going along with you. Soon enough, Mantyke returned and waved off to the others as they swam away, leaving him behind with you. As you got up, knowing the dance was over, you looked at your poketech for a moment before noticing it going crazy, flickering on and off between different screens. Wondering what was up, you looked out at the water to see if something out there was causing the interruption. You noticed something coming your way and sighed, it was only a Mantine. Turning your back to the Pokémon as you began walking away, you bowed your head slightly. "KYO!" A sound came as a loud splash was heard behind you, and quickly you turned to see a sort of cut up tail going into the water only a few meters out. And thus, your Poketech started to work once more as the Pokémon went out further, and further. |

Kenneth removed the Pokeballs belonging to Mantyke and Pidgey from his belt and aimed them at their respective Pokémon. "Return." He ordered, activating the red beam that drew in his companions. He allowed Pichu to remain free for the time being. So, he had seen the whole Ray's Dance, which might give him some sort of boon for his journey. It was a rare opportunity, and he derived a certain sense of pride from the knowledge that he might never encounter another trainer who had seen what he had seen. He hadn't even left his hometown, and already he was ahead of the game...in some respects, anyway. Still, the fact remained that Kenny needed to get moving. If he was going to get any stronger or any better, he needed to get out of Wayford and start the adventure in earnest. Now that the dance was over, it was about that time. "Let's get outta here, Pichu." He said with a gentle smile, eliciting a quick and enthusiastic cry from his chosen starter. They began to walk side-by-side down the dock. Their destination this time: the road that led out of Wayford. They had places to go and people to see. Hopefully, nothing would compel them to stay any longer this time. |

Why do Pokémon trainers go on their journeys? Some because they want to get powerful, others because they enjoy the experience, some because they have revenge to fulfill, and one even does it to search for a way to return to his own world, but you wouldn't know about him. There are also people Kenneth, he is a trainer who searches for power, and probably enjoys the experience along the way. Now with your newly acquired Mantyke, you are on your way with 3 Pokémon under your belt. Kenneth walked along the dirt road, enjoying the sunlight and the trees, Pokémon calls all around though they stay away from you or you only catch glimpses of them. A Pidgeotta flying off with two Pidgey, a Caterpie in its grasp. You have a couple guesses of whats going to happen to that Caterpie.. but suddenly a series of silver blades flies at the group, Pidgeotto releasing the Caterpie to be caught by a female Butterfree, who shoots off a beam of Psychic energy at them, forcing them to disperse before they get beaten badly. Unfortunatly for you, you are unable to catch any of them, as they are high above you and your Pokémon cannot reach. But, as you sigh and continue on, you notice an Oran Tree next to the road. Now, the Oran tree had very few berries left on it, but what caught your attention were the two Pokémon battling, it seemed, under it. Two Scyther were exchanging blows. But, on closer inspection, they were sparring, not a real battle. You also notice a Taillow munching on berries in the tree, and a Vulpix sleeping next to the tree. What will you do? If you try to fight the Scyther, you'll get both of the to deal with, but whoever you challenge, you'll probably lose the others. Lv. 6 ![]() Lv. 7 ![]() Lv. 9 ![]() Lv. 6

Kenny looked up at the sky as he walked along, basking in the warmth of the sunlight. He had always loved the sun. How could he not? He was a kid raised in a city by the beach, after all. The glowing ball in the sky could not keep his full attention, however, as he noticed a gathering of Pokémon in front of him. His eyes grew a bit wider as he looked at them, raising his Poketech for some more detailed information. He was looking at two Scythers, a Vulpix, and a Tailow. As his Poketech rattled off the hard facts, he began to marvel at his luck. As he understood it, Scyther and Vulpix were rather rare finds. "Looks like that blessing is already starting to kick in." He said with a smirk. The only problem was that he had to choose. If he attacked either one of the dueling Scythers, the Vulpix would wake up and dart off while both of the Scythers rushed him. If he attacked the Vulpix, the Scythers would take their duel elsewhere while he fought the six-tailed creature. Then, a thought hit him: he had three capable Pokémon. Couldn't he take on all three of the Pokémon at once? It sounded like a plan to him. He would take all three of them on and capture the ones he managed to knock out. His faith in his Pokémon led him to believe that he would be able to leave with both a Scyther and a Vulpix in tow. "I'm goin' for it." Kenny murmured. He then knelt down before his Pichu and gave it specific instructions. "Pichu, standby and wait for my cue. When I say 'now,' I want you to fire a Thundershock at one of the Scythers." As Pichu moved to carry out his orders, the trainer removed two Pokeballs from his belt and summoned Mantyke and Pidgey forth from them. "All right you two, it's time for our first battle together. Pidgey, I want you to hit the Scyther that Pichu doesn't shock hard and fast with a flying Tackle. Mantyke, I need you to hit the Vulpix with Bubble." With the plan all laid out, it was time for action. "All together guys, and on my mark. Don't you guys let your targets escape. Ready...NOW!" The three Pokémon sprung into action. A bird flew forth, a shot of electricity was fired, and a number of bubbles sped towards their target. |

Seeing that you had not targeted it, the Taillow flew away, disappearing into the deep blue sky. The remaining three were not prepared for your attacks, and were struck by each one. The Scyther that was closest to Pichu was struck hard by the electrical ball, feeling his arms go numb. Your Pidgey struck next, hitting the other Scyther’s head. It moved back due to the blow, and counter-attacked with a swipe of its bladed arms. Pidgey was hit, but just barely. Finally, Mantyke’s Bubble attack exploded in a small area around Vulpix, also catching the Scyther that had been hit by Pidgey. The three Pokémon were quite angry now, and launched their own attacks. The two Scyther darted towards your Pichu, preparing to hit it with a dual Quick-Attack. Luckily, Pidgey knocked one of the Scyther off balance, Pichu only getting hit by one. Unfortunately, the attacker was quite a bit bigger that Pichu, and it was thrown into the air, landing on her back. Vulpix jumped back and fired off a large number of fiery pellets, hitting Pidgey. It seemed as though the poor bird had been burned slightly. Well, this seems to be going your way so far, but things could quickly be turned around. What’s your next move? Kenneth couldn't help but to smirk a little bit. Things seemed to have gone fairly well, though each of his Pokémon had taken a hit. Now that he had the attention of his targets, though, he could move on to his next plan of attack. "Pidgey, Pichu, get behind Mantyke!" He ordered. He was sure that this would cause the three enemy combatants to converge upon the trio almost in unison. That was just what he needed. "Mantyke, Supersonic!" He called. "Target all three of those Wild ones! Then, hit Vulpix with Bubble again! Pichu, you hit one of those Scythers with another Thundershock! Stay on your toes!" With Kenneth having given two battle orders to Mantyke and one to Pichu, Pidgey was the only one of his Pokémon left out of the loop. Since it seemed to have taken the heaviest hit at the hands of the Vulpix, he decided to let it sit out a round. Hopefully, his attacks would be successful and it wouldn't come to further harm before he felt safe giving it another order. Otherwise, the unfortunate creature might find itself in some trouble. Your Pokémon lined up in a triangle formation, just as you had ordered. Mantyke took the lead, while Pichu fell in behind her, and just to the left. Pidgey landed behind her, and to the right. With your commands given, Mantyke used Supersonic. Strange sounds emanated from your Pokémon as a wave of energy sweeping forward to her foes. The attack caught the Scyther with the paralyzed arms, and the Vulpix, who wasn’t ready for the attack. The other Scyther however, was ready for the attack. He leapt out of the way, landing in a fighting stance. Scyther rushed forward using Quick Attack. His shoulder connected with Pichu’s smaller body. Once again, Pichu was sent sprawling across the grass. Pichu had been charging up her Thundershock attack. But getting hit, she released the attack at a wild angle. She didn’t hit the Scyther that had attacked her, but did manage to zap the same one she had previously hit. Mantyke reared her head back and released another bout of bubbles. Vulpix wasn’t in any condition to defend herself. She stumbled left and right, as the bubbles surrounded her. They popped and sizzled against the Vulpix’s hot fur. The Scyther with the numb arms stood behind the Confused Vulpix, using her as a shield now. Though his arms were numb, he flexed his muscles. With his energy focused, he stared down Pichu. Murder was in his eyes as he Leered at the electric Pokémon. Numb Scyther’s partner was still on the attack. Now that Pichu’s defenses were down, he struck again. He Tackled the Pichu, smashing her against a tree. “Pichu!!!!!” She yelled in pain. It seemed that no one had attacked your Pidgey after all. It looked to Kenneth as though the battle could go either way at that point. He winced as he saw the things that were happening to his Pichu, who was taking the brunt of all of the attacks. "Pichu, pull back!" Called the trainer, hoping to give the yellow rodent a short break. To cover the creature's backside while it made its hasty retreat, Kenny gave orders to Mantyke. "Supersonic again, Mantyke!" He called just as soon as Pichu was out of the line of fire. He hoped to get all of the Pokémon confused enough to start bashing on themselves and on each other. That would make everything easier. Knowing that there was no time to waste, he continued to give orders as Mantyke carried out its own. "Pidgey, use Sand Attack on that Scyther!" The boy pointed at the paralyzed Scyther, hoping to take it out and cut down the numbers of his enemies. "Then, go in for a flying Tackle!" His next order was directed at Mantyke, intended to be carried out once the Supersonic attack was complete. "Bubble!" He called, pointing this time at the Vulpix in order to take full advantage of its weakness to Water-type attacks. Pichu received no orders; it was meant to relax for just a moment and catch its breath while its companions launched their assaults. Kenneth's heart raced as the battle went on. He found himself completely lost in the moment. Nothing but his Pokémon and the battle mattered to him at that time. The experience was exhilerating and made it clear to him that the life of a trainer was the life for him. Still just a newbie on the road to adventure and glory, he knew that he had a long way to go. But, if every battle would be as exciting as this one, he was going to enjoy every step of the way. |

Your three-on-three match had been going well so far, using the types to your advantage and rotating out your Pokémon in the most efficient means necessary. The Pichu was a little under the weather, but far from out, and your Mantyke was still going the strongest. If you could keep this battle stratagem going, you'd have two more Pokémon in no time, with possibly even a third, if all went perfectly. Catching two Scythers might not make sense for your team, but come on. Who doesn't want a Scyther? As your Pokémon begin to carry out your commands, the wild three are beginning to realize, (well all except for the poor confused Vupix,) that perhaps they should've attempted to pull off some teamwork from the get-go. The two Scythers had done some fancy double techs, but had left the Vulpix in the dust, which may have led to their downfall. Your Mantyke released another burst of the sonic waves, aimed at each of the three wild Pokémon, while Pidgey let loose with its wings, kicking up dust into the Numb Scyther's eyes. The sudden sand in its face caused it to forget about the sonic waves, which caused its eyes to glaze over as it tried to process just where it was. Once more, though, its companion managed to avoid them, using its wings to fly high out of their reach. The Vulpix seemed to have a moment of clarity, and several small balls of flame appeared in its mouth as it prepared to launch them at your Pokémon. It was about that time, though, that your Pidgey crashed into the confused Scyther, which had moved out from behind the safety of the fiery fox. The sudden change in direction caused it to trip and fall directly into the path of the ember attack, saving your Pokémon and doing damage to an opponent. The still, mostly healthy Scyther realized that things were going to go downhill if it didn't act quickly, and used its speed to crash into your Mantyke with a Quick Attack, causing the Bubble barrage to go wide, missing the Vulpix completely, who seemed to be shaking off the confusion. As it leapt back, it leered angrily at the Mantyke, showing ferocious intent to save itself. The fraction of a second of confusion left by the leer allowed the Vulpix up, using its tails to weaken your Mantyke's defenses further. Now, a bit of teamwork was being used. But would it be enough? ------------------------- Lv.5 15/35 90%(-1 Defense) Lv.6 26/37 86%(Burned) Lv.8 36/41 83%(-2 Defense) ----------VS------------- Lv.6 5/37 79%(Arms Paralyzed) (Confused) (+1 to Crit from Focus Energy) Lv.7 29/39 75% Lv.9 28/41 83%
