Kenneth approached the now-occupied Pokeball and picked it up off the ground. He'd prepared a special catchphrase to say when he captured a new Pokémon, but this wasn't the time to use it. This was a ruse; a trick to fool a meat man. This Meowth wasn't his partner, and he wasn't its trainer. So, there was no need for celebration. He was just going to move on. He approached the place where the Meowth kittens were located and bent over in front of it. "Umm...Hi." He said, not sure if infant Pokémon were able to understand and communicate with humans. "I'm borrowing your mother for a short time, but she'll be right back. Just sit tight where you are, and don't come out for anything at all until we're back, 'kay?" The warning was meant to dissuade the young creatures from letting curiosity get the better of them. The trainer wasn't sure if the place was a dangerous as it looked, but he didn't want those kittens taking any chances. Having said that, Kenny straightened up, secured the Pokeball containing the Meowth on his belt, and exited the room the same way he'd entered with Pichu going ahead of him. He gestured at the Pokémon again, prompting it to leap onto his shoulder for the climb back down. Though he still moved slowly and carefully, he was a bit less aware than he had been going up; the safe journey on the way had eased his nerves. He intended to take off at a speedy jog once he got to the ground so as to get back to Lumiere's Pork Restaurant as fast as possible. The trip back to the store was about to begin, and Kenneth was hoping against hope that the streets would be just a teeny bit less crowded this time. |

The infant kittens had heard you, although they cringed a little from your face. Having been cooped up in this room for most of their short lives, they weren't really used to humans. Mostly, all you heard was their aimless mewing. They probably stayed down in this space under the floor until their mother summoned them for a meal. More than likely, they wouldn't run into any problems unless another street Pokémon decided to come along. Having finished your business here for the time being, your Pichu gladly leaped up onto your shoulder and happily rode on you the whole way down the old fire escape. Upon coming back to the street, it wasn't any less crowded. Well, what did you expect? It was rush hour, after all. People practically crowded the street, and it was enough to make anyone feel a little claustrophobic. All of the honking and chatter was enough to make anyone's ears bleed. Finally, you made your way to the fancy front of Lumiere's, but Mr. Pork-a-lot wasn't there to greet you. According to the sign that displayed the hours, the place opened in about an hour. (Eleven A.M.) The man you were looking for was probably inside performing his job. The problem is, the front door is currently locked. Never fear! There was a back door on the place to a side alley, which was just big enough for a food truck to squeeze into. The back door was open to let air in, but a lone sentry also sat there sleeping. More than likely, she was placed there to discourage any further theft, and probably belonged to the meat man. :Female Lv. 6 Hearing you, she lifted her head up and blinked a few times, before sniffing in your direction expectantly. You weren't what she had been expecting, but she didn't lower her guard down. Proceed with caution. |

Going through the crowded streets twice had made for one unfavorable journey, and Kenny was not looking forward to walking them again. He was going to have to, and he knew it. Maybe he'd take his time the next time around and see if that didn't make the trip a little more bearable. Regardless, he had reached his destination only to find that the guy who had his money wasn't hanging around. Apparently, the shop that he'd been running wasn't even open yet. That was just great. How did that guy expect to deliver payment if he was in a closed shop? Or, did he intend to pay at all? Whether or not the man wanted to pay was irrelevant; Kenneth had held up his end of the bargain, and he deserved some cash for it. In search of another way to get into the building, Kenneth walked around it. He was hoping to find an open side door, back door, or window that he could get in through. He was already behind on his real trainer journey thanks to this little escapade, and he didn't have an hour to spend just sitting and waiting for that man to come out. Fortunately, he did find another entrance: a door in the back where truck drivers apparently entered to deliver their goods. In front of the door sat a Houndour, which at first excited the trainer because he thought it might be wild. But, he then considered how logical it would be for a Wild Pokémon to just sit in front of a door where a bunch of humans might tread. He decided that the creature must belong to someone inside the establishment, possibly left there to guard the entrance. That being the case, he wasn't sure how he was going to get by. "Umm...HELLO?!" Kenny said, deciding that shouting into the door might yield some results. "HEY! IT'S THE KID FROM BEFORE! I'M HERE FOR MY FIFTY DOLLARS!" Unless the meat dude was doing some loud work or was located fairly deep into the shop, the trainer figured that he would hear his shouts. He hope so at least, for it was the only way he was gonna talk to that man without having to fight with that Houndour. A battle wouldn't be a totally unfavorable option, of course, but he was sure that beating up on an employees Pokémon would affect his reward. After all the work he was going through to get it, he didn't want it to be spoiled now. |

Perhaps "I'm here for my fifty dollars!" hadn't been the best choice of words, as for a moment, you had aroused the Houndour's attention enough to get her to growl at you. Apparently she had assumed that you were threatening the employees within. The dark dog stiffened in your direction, daring you to take a step closer. However, your yell had also yielded fruit. The cook from earlier that had wielded meat at the Meowth appeared, mopping his brow as he did so. Seeing that you had some difficulties with his Houndour, he called her off at once. "It's okay Samus, down girl," he cooed to the dog for a moment, at which she put herself in a sitting position to watch this exchange with interest. "So...Did you dispose of the cat somehow?" the guy grunted at you impatiently. "Sorry if I seem a little...grumpy, but that stupid kitty put me in a bad mood, and now I'm running behind." Well, technically, that was his own fault. He didn't have to pursue the cat....But then again, if she hadn't been stealing from him in the first place, none of this would have happened. "Before I give you anything, I need solid proof that she's gone," the guy continued while he rooted in one of his pockets for some cash. This was the moment you had carefully been preparing for, so why not brandish your "captured" kitty right now? |

Kenny's attention snapped to the Houndour as soon as the small creature tensed up. He was ready to jump, dodge, or run if he needed to; he definitely didn't want any part of his body to get caught in those jaws. Pichu, on the other hand, was ready for a fight. She growled at her potential opponent, but her small size and cute features made her seem rather benign. It was just a good thing that the guy came out when he did because Kenneth still had no desire to do battle with what could have been his Houndour. And, apparently, it was. It certainly responded to him like a Pokémon would to its master, calming down just as soon as the meat man told him to. "Thank you, sir." Said Kenneth, letting down his guard. "It looked like we were about to have a little problem. But, threat avoided and mission accomplished!" He let the man talk and understood his issue. If someone had stolen something from him, he would be in a bad mood, too. "Yes sir, I did. That Meowth won't be bothering you anymore." Kenneth reached for the second Pokeball on his belt as he spoke. Once he held it in his hand, he brought it in front of his chest, enlarged it, and tossed it lightly into the air. It released a brilliant white light that took the form of the culprit upon making contact with the ground. There was the emaciated Meowth, now face to face with her hopefully-former adversary. "I won't be hangin' around in this city much longer." Kenneth explained. "After I tie up a few loose ends, I'm hittin' the road. When I go, this Meowth comes with me. She won't be bothering you anymore. You can count on that." The trainer spoke with all seriousness and managed to avoid telling an actual lie in his explanation. The Meowth would be leaving that location with him, but not the whole city altogether. And, it would be out of the meat man's hair, but it might start stealing from someone else (hopefully, somewhere far away from Lumiere's). Those minor details didn't matter, though. Kenny had caught the Meowth and ensured that it would no longer trouble that establishment. He'd held up his end of the bargain, so it was time for him to get some green. |

(Sorry that it took so long...The weather wasn't cooperating before I left (thunderstorms), so no Computer usage, and as mentioned elsewhere, I left for a trip) Once the slightly wasted female Meowth appeared, she hissed slightly at Mr. Meat. However, she wasn't stupid enough to start a fight and returned to your side immediately, behaving as though she was bound to you as a trainer. She played the part pretty well; Perhaps she had been exposed to training at some point? Well, that info shouldn't really matter to you at this point. As the cook listened to your lie, his features behaved like that of Clayface. First he was his original grumpy self, and gradually he took on a happier look. "You're going to take that cat with you? She'll make a fine and crafty Persian, provided that she doesn't steal and drag you into another one of your messes." As he said this, he handed you what was due to you: $50. Now, that hadn't been too bad, had it? "Well, just see to it that she behaves herself," he said finally. "I thank you for taking care of the little pestilence." With that, he ducked around the sleeping Houndour and returned to whatever he was doing beyond the back door. As long as he was assured of the disappearance of the troublesome Meowth, this guy would rest and be...well, merry. Now...Didn't you have another end of a deal to hold up? Those kittens are probably getting hungry again. (Request me one more time, if you don't mind. I should be around for a while now. ;) ) |

((I forgive you. I had plenty to do elsewhere to keep me occupied :) )) The deal was settled, and Kenneth felt quite relieved and proud of himself. He had settled the matter like a true hero, coming out on top and ensuring that all whom he had helped would no longer suffer from the problems that they'd brought before him. He took the money from the meat man with a smile, took a quick look at it so as to be sure of the amount, and placed it in his pocket. The man's words about the Meowth's worth after its evolution were interesting, but Kenny didn't really consider them too much. He'd go from hero to villain real quick-like if he started breaking promises this early on in his journey. That Meowth was going back to its home even though the third trip through the city was probably going to be every bit as unpleasant as the previous two. "Yes sir. She'll be a good one for sure." Said Kenny. He then saluted the man one more time as he had before. "Glad I could help. I appreciate your patronage." He then watched in silence as the guy retreated back into his shop. He hadn't seemed so bad that time, probably because he hadn't had to chase after anything. It was good to talk to him without being spat upon. Now that he was gone, Kenny dropped his saluting hand to his side and looked at the Meowth. He gave the Pokémon a subtle wink before once again holding its temporary Pokeball and calling it in. "Meowth, return." He said. Once the red light had full converted the creature into energy and drawn it in, Kenneth turned away from the shop and went on his way. All that he'd gone through, and he still had yet to even leave his own city, participate in a battle, or really catch a Pokémon. He was behind in those areas, but figured he was probably the only trainer who'd made any extra money thus far. That was something to be proud of, at least. The Pokémon and the battles would come soon. In fact, Kenny still had plans to catch a Pokémon before leaving the city. He had an Electric-type in a place teeming with Water-types and Flying-types. He'd be foolish to leave with three empty Pokeballs. First things first, though; the Meowth had to be taken to its home. "Here we go again." Kenny muttered, inspiring a short giggle from Pichu. |

With your main business transaction now completed, you now had a Meowth to release. Your lie seemed to have worked its magic, and now both you and the Meowth could rest in peace...Unless she was crazy enough to steal from the guy again. (Probably not) Dogging your way through traffic and people again (Boy, this must be tiring by now), you finally returned to the old building structure. It was just as derelict as ever, except for the fact that a Pidgey was sitting on the stairs. "Pidg," it chirped as you approached, and then proceeded to perch on your shoulder. Perhaps it wanted to come with you? Lv. 6As if on cue, the Meowth released herself and, ignoring the Pidgey, ran partially up the stairs of the fire escape before turning to you. "Meowth!" she chimed in a sort of "Thank you!" format before running up the rest of the way to check on her babies. Well, you were done with her for now... If that bird really wants to come with you, why not fill up that now-lonely Pokeball? No doubt he wanted a trainer...Unless he had been abandoned and wanted a less heartless individual? And then, perhaps it had followed you the whole time.... |

"Almost there." Kenneth said as he climbed the steps to the window of the room that the Meowth and her kittens occupied. "This has been quite an adventure, huh Pichu?" His companion gave an exasperated cry, "Piiii-chu," in reply, though she had been required to do minimal walking/running since he had offered her that position on his shoulder. He stopped in his tracks when he saw a Pidgey sitting in his pathway. His first impulse was to cautiously approach the creature and nudge it out of the way, but he was surprised to see it fly up and perch on his unoccupied shoulder. Before he could react to that, a beam of light flew forth from his belt, taking the form of the Meowth that he'd been carrying. Apparently, she wasn't going to wait any longer to be released; the time had come to say goodbye. A proud smile appeared on Kenny's face as he waved at the creature who'd helped him earn 50 dollars. "It was good to meet you and work with you, Meowth. Good luck with your kittens, and remember to stay out of that area, 'kay? See ya around." After he briefly watched the Meowth run the rest of the distance up the stairs, Kenny turned his attention to the Pidgey on his shoulders. He let out a sigh before asking, "Now, what can I do for you?" He didn't remember having directly encountered a Pidgey, so he didn't really see a reason for it to be sitting there on his shoulder. But, if that's where it wanted to be, maybe there was an opportunity for him to take advantage of? "Well, I did want a Flying-type." Kenneth thought. Pidgeotto had been his first choice, but if he was a good enough trainer, that Pidgey would be a Pidgeotto in no time. So, he removed the now-empty Pokeball from his belt and held it up in front of the Pidgey. "If you're comin' with me," he said, "you're gonna need to hang out in this nifty device. Cool?" Without really awaiting a response, he tapped the Bird Pokémon with the ball, drawing it into the object with the red energy. "Looks like I got one for real this time." He said. "But, I'm not quite satisfied yet." With a rather cocky smirk on his face, he turned his eyes to Pichu. "We still need to catch just one more ally. A Water-type." Of course they needed to do that. Wayford City was a city on the shore, and leaving it without at least attempting to get a Pokémon from the sea would be foolish. So, Kenny turned and began to walk down the stairs. This time, his destination was the the beaches of Wayford, where Water-type Pokémon abounded. With Pichu on his side and a new Pidgey in reserve, he was sure to get a good one to aid him on his journey. |

{{Er... You wern't supposed to say that you caught the pidgey. Try not to do it again, but for now that's fine.}} As the pokeball you had trapped the Pidgey in shook a few times in your hands, before releasing a loud ding. With a silent "yes" you had caught Pidgey, who soon came out of his pokeball and perched himself right back on your shoulder. With a sort of whispered coo, he just remained there, waiting. Now, walking off towards the shores of wayford where you might be able to find yourself a water-type, you found yourself back in the surroundings of the brightest buildings you'd ever seen. Shielding your eyes from the buildings, you continued onward through the town, to the shore. After about a nice half-hour's walk across town, you found yourself nested near the beach, looking out as the sun started to set. Some kids near you called out, "Dude, that sucks, alot of the fishes don't show up at night." While another one said, 'Yeah, but they are replaced by some other Pokémon." I wonder what that could've meant, but then again, I guess there are Pokémon who don't like the day, and others who don't like the night. As you walked over by the water, the sun slowly going lower and lower as darkness took over the sky, you found yourself waiting to see if their might be a water Pokémon waiting for a battle. Behind you, street lights turns on and the lights reflected off the building. The new reflectant lights caused the water to shine near the shore, and darken further out, where you could now see the shadows of Pokémon near you. Would you like to stay and see what you can find? Or go to the Pokémon center and call it a night? |

Kenneth took in a deep breath of air once he had reached the shore. He'd always enjoyed the scent of the beach, and the repetitive sound of the water rushing up to the shore and retreating back to the sea was always rather relaxing. Hanging out in that area for long periods of time hadn't been on his list of "favorite things to do," however. Large crowds didn't always bother him, but he didn't like to spend a long time in one. One could usually count on the beach to be crowded in a more favorable time of day. It was getting late now, though, so people were packing it in and heading out. Kenny was rather surprised, actually. He'd lost track of the time, so he hadn't realized just how long he had been out and about helping that meat guy and the Meowth with their issues. He overheard the words that the kids were saying, and was slightly disappointed. "Hm. Looks like we might be too late to catch a Water-type, guys." He said to the Pokémon that sat upon his shoulders. "I say we should hang out here anyway, though. Maybe we can walk away with an even better Pokémon." Kenneth didn't quite wait for a response from his companions before making his decision, though they did not protest anyway. The Pokémon Center might close before they got to it, but he was the only one who needed to be concerned about that; his Pokémon could just rest in their Pokeballs if they got tired. He'd be willing to endure a night awake, which would probably allow him to catch up with the trainers that had gone ahead of him. And, he'd probably have more Pokémon than them, as well. So, his mind made up, Kenny began to walk along the beach, keeping a watchful eye out for any Pokémon of interest that might show up... |

Ah yes, as the night slowly rolled its way in, you could see the beach slowly become absent of human life. Finally though, after a good hour or so, the beach was empty as only You, Pidgey, and Pichu walked the soft sands. Pidgey had know jumped off your shoulder, and was flying beside you, constantly just tilting his body to feel the wind through his feathers. Pichu, like Pidgey, had also gotten off your shoulder, but was walking beside you, sometimes holding onto your leg if he got stuck in the sand. Now that the beach was empty, the sounds of crashing waves seemed louder, more ferocious. Looking out at the dark waters though, something caught your eyes as the tiniest speck of light by a column of rocks not too far off. Of course, this caught your attention as the light seemed to fade after a while, and appeared in a spot near the original spot, before it faded once more. This was a bit strange, Pokémon wern't known to draw attention to themselves, unless they had the statistics to back it up. I wonder why THIS Pokémon was drawing attention... Maybe it was a legend? {Request me Pl0x?} |

"Heh. Kinda creepy out here, eh?" Kenneth said upon noticing that he was the only person left on the beach. "I've pretty much set myself up to star in a horror flick here." He was kidding, of course, but he was a little nervous. The presence of his Pokémon was just about the only comfort he had; without them, he probably would have opted to go back to the Pokémon Center while he'd had the chance. He had little love for the beach at night regardless of how pretty the moon's reflection in the water might look. "Hey...What's that?" Kenny said, noticing some other source of light as he stared out at the moon's reflection. It was difficult to see, but definitely there. Better yet, it wasn't too far away. The newbie trainer was torn between two choices then: give in to his curiosity and go examine the source of the light, or turn tail and get away as fast as his legs would carry him. As he weighed his options, the former choice seemed more and more appealing. Even if something were to happen, he had his two companions to back him up. Together, they could probably handle whatever danger might be out there. "Let's go check it out." He said to both of his Pokémon. He began to walk a little bit faster to the destination, climbing on and over rocks as was necessary with Pichu by his side. Pidgey, serving as the scout for the group, flew a bit higher up and stayed ahead of Kenneth and Pichu by a few feet. The flashing light was growing closer, though its source wasn't becoming much clearer. Just a bit farther... |

As you walked up to where the lights flashed you couldn't help but feel somewhat scared. What if it was Kyogre?! What if it was a portal to another world?! What if... WHAT IF IT WAS SOMEONE'S FLASHLIGHT AFTER THEY DROPPED IT?! Er... *ahem* anyways. Nearing the light, you couldn't help your questions from arising, but soon saw as the lights stopped flashing all together. "Kyo!" A cry came from the nearby distance as the flashing came from much further out, as a large sting-ray looking shadow leapt out of the water and cried out again, it's body glowing with markings. Soon, another shadow leapt from the water, this one MUCH smaller as it just leapt a little bit, seeming to leap over the moon, before diving back into the water without even a single glow on its body. Finally, a third shadow leapt into the sky, this one coming towards you as its body shined a bright purple all over, and you could see the Pokémon's true figure. "MAN!" The Pokémon called as it came towards you, only to dive into the water before you, bringing the waves up as your clothing was soon drenched. A man came up to you and was chuckling heavily, "'ey there sonny," He said with another chuckle, "I suppose ye' experienced the Ray's Dance, aye?" What was this 'Ray's Dance?' Did he mean how all those Pokémon splashed out of the water, and continued to do so as they just leapt through the skies? |

((Sorry it's been so long. I got caught up in all my other RP sites)) Kenny kept glancing around at his Pokémon to make sure they hadn't disappeared. Other than them, he was alone out there: perfect set up for a slasher flick. Young, good-lookin' kid out on the rocks gets brutally slaughtered and tossed into the sea. That wasn't anything new. But, so long as he had his companions, he figured he would be fine. The only problem was that if he was, in fact, in a slasher situation, they could randomly disappear at any time without warning and turn up dead just before Kenny turned around to see his killer. "Geez. Maybe this wasn't the best idea after all?" Kenneth thought to himself, not wanting to rile his Pokémon. For a moment, it appeared as though he was right. A great figure exploded forth from the water, letting out a great cry as it did so. Kenny let out a cry of his own and through up his arms defensively, causing his two companions to take offensive positions. But, when the shadowed creature harmlessly fell back into the water, all three of them dropped their defenses. A second Pokémon performed the same set of movements as the first, followed by a third that came a little too close for comfort and flung water all over Kenneth. "Agh!" He exclaimed. The water was freezing cold, and it certainly wasn't the best thing for the trainer to be exposed to in the nighttime air. He took to shivering immediately after, wondering what the heck had just happened and why those creatures (probably Pokémon of some kind, but he wasn't positive) had seemingly gone bat-crap crazy as soon as he'd gotten too close. Fortunately, he received his answer soon after the event had ended. He whipped around quite quickly after he was addressed by a creepy old man who'd come out of nowhere. "Uuhh...What?" Said Kenneth, still shivering because of the water. His Pidgey came to rest upon his shoulder again, and Pichu drew closer to his ankle. "Ray's Dance? Is that what you call what those Pokémon were doing?" |
