This battle was almost coming to a end. Pidgey had found the two fake Staravia. Pidgey flew back slightly, gathering all three Staravia's in her sight. With a quick few flaps of her wings, the sharp slices of wind cut threw the three Staravia's, making two of them dissapear. Rex started to think about somethings he was planning on doing after the battle. He was going to go to the Pokémon Center and then the Market to get some Pokeballs. Rex also needed a water type to add to the team. So he might check out the beach for some water Pokémon. He then re-focused on the battle. It looked like the Staravia used another Double Team. "Pidgey move out the way and use Peck." Rex was planning on making them hit eachother instead of the Pidgey then she can attack. |

It was true, this battle was almost about to come to a halt. For most of the battle, it seemed as if Pidgey and Rex had the upper hand, (or wing.) but at this point, it seemed to be the total opposite. The opposing bird was fast, powerful, and had a much higher level than Pidgey did, but still, the little bird was able to put up one heck of a fight. Maybe that was just luck. Maybe. "Close in and finish this. Skull Bash." Both of the birds lowered their heads, directing them in the direction where pidgey was standing. Pidgey knew her commands, and they were to move out the way and close in with a peck. The tiny bird took to the air, quickly dashing toward one of the Staravia. Pidgey was going to close in, and hopefully defeat it. The enemy trainer smirked, as if he already knew the out come. "Game, set, and match," he announced, crossing his arms in a rather smug manner. The Staravia that Pidgey was heading for lunged right toward the oncoming bird, but as soon as they made contact, the bird disappeared into nothing. Pidgey was shocked, but she knew what this meant. She knew that she'd lost this one. The enemy Staravia flanked her from the side, sending her rolling about on the ground. Staravia circled about in the air, but returned to its trainer's muscly arm. "Hah! Now, fork over sixty bucks for my win, kid!" The opposing trainer began to approach Rex. It seemed like he wasn't going to let Rex finish him off. This guy looked convincing...convincing enough that he could rip someone's face off with his mind. Best fork over that cash, Rex. |

Rex was angry with Pidgey, he told her to move out of the way and use peck. Instead, the tiny bird took to the air. Quickly dashing toward one of the Staravia. Pidgey was going to close in, and hopefully end the match. With a Skull Bash the Staravia flanked her from the side, sending her rolling about on the ground. This wasn't the fist time he lost a battle, so there wasn't no need to make it a big deal. Rex just digged in his pocket and pulled about $60. Rex walked up to the guy. Before he gave him the money he had one thing to say to him. "You really are a tough trainer, I can see that you raised you Staravia well. Maybe when I come back to Tohea we could battle again." With that said, he handed over the cash. Rex went over to the Pidgey on the ground. He went to it and lifted the little bird up up. "You did good, for a level 3 Pidgey." Rex took the Pidgey's Pokeball and sent it back inside. He was going to make his way to the Pokémon Center, Pokémart and get like four Pokeballs, then head to the beach to get a water Pokémon. {It would be nice if the Ref can do these things for Rex in one post lol}

The guy grabbed the cash that you handed over with a flourish. Grinning, he inclined his head towards your basic "Let's battle again" basic talk before strolling out of sight. No doubt that he had his own business to take care of. Still, he was a brilliant trainer to have thumped you like that. You had done pretty well with a low-level Pidgey, as well. Either way, enough musing. First, you trotted off to the Pokémon Center, where a Chansey immediately catered to your healing needs. The Center surprisingly wasn't too busy at the moment, so perhaps there was an event elsewhere that was happening. This didn't seem to concern you, and soon all of your Pokémon were returned to you in perfect condition. Next, you headed down the street and into the Pokémart. Oddly enough, the only clerk on duty was a Machamp with a sense of humor (he was wearing a pink apron...I wouldn't even ask). As he joked to you good-naturedly (you couldn't understand him, sadly enough) his four arms flurried around, depositing four Pokeballs into a shopping bag for you. Finally, he was able to input the total into the cash register, and you handed over $240 dollar's worth to pay for the Pokeballs. As a bonus, you also received a Potion, on the house as part of an advertising campaign. Leaving from that weird place, you now made your way down to Tohea's beach area. The beach was currently open and a lifeguard was on duty, surveying the swimmers in the water with great care. Many people were lying on towls tanning, or just simply talking, having picnics, and enjoying family time. A dock was nearby, and fishermen were trying to rack in some big catches before the day ended. So many choices...where would you start first? You could always relax, you know. There's a scattering of rocks on the opposite end of the beach, so maybe you'll find something interesting in there...I'm just speculating, of course. |

Though he did give the trainer the money didn't change the fact that he hated him. Rex trotted off to the Pokémon Center, where a Chansey immediately catered to his healing needs. He exited the building and looked at the sky and smiled. Rex reached to his Houndour's Pokeball. "Come out." He said throwing the ball in the air. "Houndour!" Rex then continued to walk down the street with his dog Pokémon walking by his side. First thing he saw when he entered the Mart was Machamp. He also notice it was wearing a pink apron. Instead of asking questions he had better things to do. The beach was currently open and a lifeguard was on duty, surveying the swimmers in the water with great care. Many people were lying on towls tanning, or just simply talking, having picnics, and enjoying family time. A dock was nearby, and fishermen were trying to rack in some big catches before the day ended. Rex returned Houndour back to it's Pokeball. He was going to go swimming in the water for a while and hopefully find a water Pokémon that he would like. He walked over to the dock and looked at the water. Some of the fishermen were looking at him. "Yeah!" He yelled before jumping in. |

The beach was scorching and the water was a great way to cool down, nice idea! It was a perfect settlement, the water was as blue as saphire, and the heat only heightened the beauty. The beach itself wasn't dirty at all. It was just nice, yellow hot sand. With coral rocks here and there. As you swam along, you noticed some sort of star watching you. At the side of the beach was a cliff, and at the bottom of the cliff were coral rocks. Some sort of star Pokémon stood, watching you with its beautifull red gem. What did it want? Maybe it wanted to battle, or maybe it had a crush on you? Behind the Pokémon was another, that lay fainted. A Tentacool to be exact, its red gems had hardly any light left. And its eyes were swirly as it lay unconcious. "HYA!" It sounded as it pointed one of its limbs at you. Almost challenging you to a battle? Well that was wierd, its not every day you get challenged by a wild Pokémon, a good one at that! Were you going to take it? I would if I were you, you wanted a good water Pokémon. And Staryu and its evolution can learn some pretty usefull and powerfull stuff. Lv. 7

Rex loved going to the beach when he was back in Pallet Town. Kanto had some cool beaches with lots of cool water Pokémon. Rex went under the water to see where some of the Pokémon. Looks like there wasn't any close by. Rex came up to the top again. He looked about and saw nothing. At the side of the beach was a cliff, and at the bottom of the cliff were coral rocks. Some sort of star Pokémon stood, watching you with its beautifull red gem. He could also see a fainted Tentacool behind it. Rex let a smirk escape his lips. A Pokeball went into the air and a female Gastly appeared ready for commands. Rex got out the water and went to the nice warm sand. "Use a Tackle." Rex commanded the ghost. |

Right before anything happened to it, the Staryu immediately started out with Harden. Its limbs stiffened, heightening its defense one stage. Then, it stood at the ready as Gastly quickly floated towards it, ready to use Tackle. Oddly enough, the Staryu didn't even want to move. Gastly impacted her opponent without any problem, but Staryu had braced herself and had only been pushed backward a few inches. This was a hardy Pokémon indeed, and it seemed to love fighting. No doubt that it would be a worthy team member if you chose to catch it. Its gem gleamed brighter, and you knew that it was planning something. Since Gastly was in such close range, Staryu wouldn't have a problem attacking it. With a "Hya!" sort of battle cry, it sent Gastly spinning around in the air with Water Gun, pushing the ghost away from it. Poor Gastly was able to get back to you and hovered near your shoulder, slightly dizzy but otherwise fine. The other Pokémon had rattled her a little, but had otherwise not scarred her for life. Such a worthy opponent will receive a worthy battle, right? Perhaps a strategy would be sufficient in this situation. Still, it had only just been the first round. The rest of the battle would go in your favor...correct? Lv. 7 30/39 92%VS :genderless Lv. 7 33/39 87%(Defense +1) |

Rex looked at the battle and how things were going. It was going pretty good, but he forgot the fact that it was only first round. This would be his second battle using Gastly. The first time he used her was in the Tournament of Eternal Flame. They lost but also got better. He then turned his attention back to Staryu. So this wild Pokémon has battled Trainers before. Maybe it wanted someone worthy enough to capture it. It looks like Rex was going to step up to the plate. Rex looked down and laughed. Just now he remembered that he took his clothes off before getting into the water. Now he was having a battle in his boxers. Before he gave his Gaslty commands he point his Poketech toward the star. Staryu the Star water Pokémon: As long as the center section is unharmed, it can grow back fully even if it is chopped to bits. When the stars twinkle at night, it floats up from the sea floor, and its body's center core flickers. "Oh yeah! This water Pokémon will be mine." Rex shouted while pointing. He looked at the Gaslty nex to him and noded. "Gaslty disappear and then use Lick." Rex said with a little grin on his face. |

The Staryu was certainly a lover of the battle. It couldn't wait for you to attack, and as you began listening to your poketch, it had already began spinning through the air. It targetted a tackle for the Gastly by your side, but went straight threw it and landed on the beach, skidding through the sand. The water Pokémon stood up, and shook itself off, knocking the sand off of it. It turned to look at you and Gastly, but only saw you. Suddenly, a shudder befell the starfish Pokémon as Gastly licked from behind. Gastly gave a ghostly laugh as Stayu was now paralyzed. Staryu turned and used water gun, before missing as Gastly had dissapeared again and reappeared behind it. Staryu was quicker this time, and turned releasing water gun at the ghost before it could attack, again pushing the gas Pokémon back towards you. Staryu shivvered still as paralysis began to take its toll. Still, it had been doing more damage, but you had an advantage now. I suggest you start approaching this battle abit more strategically. :genderless Lv. 7 27/39 75%(Paralyzed) (defence +1) Vs. Lv. 7 22/39 87% |

Rex had the upper hand once again. Now he just needed to use it right. He then remembered in the Tournament of Eternal Flame how he had the upper hand. The other trainer had more strategy than Rex though. Now things were going to change when it came to battling. The target targetted a tackle for the Gastly by his side, but it went straight threw it and landed on the beach, skidding through the sand. Rex couldn't help but laugh, for an opponent that loves to battle it was funny to see it now. Since Staryu was now paralyzed, Gastly could attack without that much troube. The puprle ball of gas was floating by Rex's right side waiting for the next command. He put his index finger out and point at the Staryu. "Gastly, keep on tackling it, but also watch out for any attacks." Rex said watching the ghost disappear. |

"Hya...," the Staryu droned off, ready to continue battling. Yet, its zest for battling was slightly killed by the fact that it was paralyzed. Still, it had sufficient defense, and it only increased the said defense by using another Harden. Yay, that would really help your chances out now. At least it didn't have any 1-hit KO moves to make you have a really hard time. In the meantime, Gastly swooped in and rammed the defense-happy Staryu with a well-placed Tackle. Still, this only sent the star skidding back a few feet, and it firmly held its ground; the thing didn't topple over at all. You could feel the tension in the air thicken between both Pokémon, and you knew that they wished the other ill. In short, Staryu didn't seem to like your Gastly at all. Maybe the genderless thing was also female? Alas, we may never know. Gastly then hovered in for a second Tackle, and Staryu immediately posed for a Water Gun. Yet, at hte last second, only a few small harmless spurts of water emerged from Staryu's gem. Frustrated, it tried to move its body, but to no avail. The paralysis had taken control for the time being, and it was the perfect set-up for Gastly to finish her Tackle in peace. A moment too late, Staryu regained mobility and staggered a little, but it was still a deadly opponent. The question was, would this opponent prove to be too deadly for you and your Gastly? She was holding out fairly well, and you had other Pokémon to come to her aid. I wouldn't worry about the outcome of this battle too much now...unless you decided to pull something stupid. :genderless Lv. 7 16/39 67%(Paralyzed) (Defense +2) VS Lv. 7 22/39 70%

Rex saw how helpless the Staryu was. Still though, he wasn't about to cut the star no slack now. Gastly was doing very well in this match. Good thing he battled with her before for, now he knows how she battles. Rex felt confident about catching Staryu. Gastly swooped in and rammed the defense-happy Staryu with a well-placed Tackle. Still, this only sent the star skidding back a few feet, and it firmly held its ground; the thing didn't topple over at all. He could feel the tension in the air thicken between both Pokémon, and Rex knew that they wished the other ill. In short, Staryu didn't seem to like his Gastly at all. Maybe the genderless thing was also female? Well if he was going to catch it now was the right time. Rex took a Pokeball from his backpack. He made the small ball expand, "Your mine now.. Go Pokeball!" Rex said throwing the Pokeball like a baseball. He was hopping he caught the Staryu. {With a normal Pokeball you can catch a Pokémon with 8HP/8% or lower, but since the Pokémon is Paralyzed it's double that which makes it 16HP/16% or lower now} |

The Pokeball struck the impaired Staryu, absorbing it in bright flash. The Pokémon struggled to escape, and despite the paralysis, it put up quite a fight. The technological marvel rolled for a good five minutes before it clicked. Congratulations, you caught yourself a Staryu. Gastly floated over to you a happy expression on her face. Surely she deserved some praise for helping you catch the Staryu. She really seems to like you, you know, and she is quite a good battler. She'd be awfully disappointed if you got rid of her. Well, anyway. It would be best to head to a Pokémon Center immediately, although you do have more Pokémon if you run into another battle. There seems to be something lurking in the shallow water, you could go check that out first. Either way, the choice is yours. The technological marvel rolled for a good five minutes before it clicked. Wow, he just caught his Fourth Pokémon. Rex jumped one time before going to the Pokeball. He smiled as he picked the ball that had just captured the Pokémon. Gaslty floated to his side again with a happy expression on her face. "You did real good Gastly... For our new friend, I shall call it Pearl." Rex said putting the Staryu's Pokeball in his backpack. Rex was about to head to a Pokémon Center until he felt something. It was like something was around him. He looked toward the shallow water to see.... |
