Standing on the streets of Tohea you took in the sights, the sounds, the... ew, what the heck was THAT smell?! Oh, right, you were on a beach city, so I guess it was natural for there to be seagulls laying waste from the skies upon unsuspecting by-standers.

Avoiding the poo on the street, you walked about, still looking to see a beach not too far away, somewhere you might be able to find water-type Pokémon I suppose. Though, all around you, activity was stirring as vendors sold their food, pokeballs, potions, little trinkits for your pleasure and enjoyment, etc. So whether you decided to head to the beach or not, I'm sure there was SOMETHING for you to do.

As you stood there, pondering you options, a trainer ran past you looking for his Pokémon. "Hey, have you seen my cubone anywhere?" He asked you impatiently as he tapped his foot.

Suddenly, something caught your eye as a small bone was thrown out of an alley at random, hitting some trainer in the head before a tiny brown dog with its mothers skull on its head hurried over and picked up the bone, then ran back into the alley.

So, what to do?

What a beautiful day, the whole scene is looking. There's probally a ton of Pokémon out and about. So many options that Rex could choose from that it took him a while to choose. "Maybe I should go train or catch some Pokémon or something." As Rex stood there, pondering his options, a trainer ran past him looking for his Pokémon.

Suddenly, something caught your eye as a small bone was thrown out of an alley at random, hitting some trainer in the head before a tiny brown dog with its mothers skull on its head hurried over and picked up the bone, then ran back into the alley. Looking a while from the trainer asking about his Pokémon. Rex didn't really didn't want to be bother with someone else's problems. "That was a little weird, I should go check it out.." Rex said making his way to the alley, when he arrived he saw....

The impatient trainer followed you in interest, wondering if you had indeed seen something, most notably his Cubone. He was probably wondering why you hadn't said anything, but that wasn't on his top priority list at the moment.

Coming into the alley, all you saw were a few metal garbage cans overflowing with refuse. Dang, what did the garbage men do around here, sit and play Poker? The smell was enough to knock anyone's nose senseless, and it was all you could do to keep from gagging.

Sitting inside one of the garbage cans was the Cubone that you had noticed earlier, rolling around in the refuse with a happy facial expression...well, of what you could see of his face. However, this slightly sick sight was broken when the trainer who was following you gave a yell of surprise. "There you are Cubone!"

At this, the Cubone started, looked around, and started scampering down towards the other end of the alley. Whatever the reason, he didn't want to go back to his trainer. The kid, like yourself, did look like a beginner....Perhaps he didn't have control of his Pokémon?

"Come back! Why won't you mind me? You're from my dad's own Marowak!" the boy yelled, chasing after it. Well, whatever the case, the boy would sort that little situation out on his own, right? Anyway, you had a problem of your own at the moment....

Why? Well, out of the garbage can that the Cubone had been rolling around in, a very angry pile of sludge oozed out, obviously having been woken from its slumber. Sighting you, it gave a gloppy groan of sleepiness and anger as it scooted towards you.

:grimer :male Lv. 5

Well, you could stick around and battle....But at the rate that the living pile of gunk was moving towards you, you could flee easily....Especially since it wasn't fully awake yet.

Rex before was a nice loving kid. Now that he has his Pokémon and what not he changed a bit. Not careing about a lot of things right now. Sitting inside one of the garbage cans was the Cubone that Rex had noticed earlier, rolling around in the refuse with a happy facial expression...well, of what Rex could see of his face. However, this slightly sick sight was broken when the trainer who was following you gave a yell of surprise.

"What a cool Pokémon." Rex said taking out his PokeTech, "Cubone, Wears the skull of its deceased mother. Its cries echo inside the skull and come out as a sad melody". Looking at the Pokémon he noded. "I could use a Pokémon like that." Rex said about to walk out of the alley way. Turning around to hear the sound of a thrash falling or something like that he saw a purple thing.

He smiled and used his PokeTech again, "Grimer, Appears in filthy areas. Thrives by sucking up polluted sludge that is pumped out of factories.". Rex some what laughed, "I guess this Pokémon is good enough, all I need another Pokémon." With that he sent a pokeball from his belt flying to the ground. The tip of the pokeball, the botton hit and a beam of a white came out. A male Houndour appeared. "Use ember!" Rex said to his Pokémon as it ran toward the Pokémon.

The boy ran after its Cubone. If you were even interested in the matter of their relationship you would chase after them. But seeing as you decided to battle it has become apparent that you didn't mind that you probably wouldn't even see them ever again, this Grimer seemed to be more important than any of that.

"Cubone! Wait! Why are you running?"

The boy seemed extremely upset. And now with this Grimer in your way as an obstacle there was no way he was going to get near you now.

"Griiiiiimeeeeerrrrr."

Grimer let a poison gas seep out of its mouth as Houndour was running towards it. Houndour breathed in the gas, instantly becoming poisoned. Houndour groaned and sneezed, trying anything not to breathe in any more.

"Grime!"

Grimer hurled a wad of mud into the gas. Houndour yelped, obviously being hit by it. Now was when Houndour decided to use ember, as it was breathing in the poison and didn't know what to do as he was now hurt and confused.

"Grimer!"

Grimer ducked behind its trash can as it saw the oncoming attack. He was tying to dodge the ember more so the explosion that was on its way. There was a large explosion. You were blown back into the street as traffic halted and swerved around you, nearly crashing. Cars beeped and drivers yelled. Houndour came sliding out of the smoke, looking extremely hurt. He was in the middle of the explosion as well as having the poison weakening him.

"Griiimeeerr..."

Grimer groaned form the other side of the smoke. Both Pokémon were severely hurt but neither willing to give in. Houndour was limping back to battle, I'd get out of the street.

Rex saw the kid chase after his Pokémon. Maybe he should of helped him out. "Hey kid!! I could use some help." Rex yelled, if the kid heard him it would be good. While he talked the Grimer let a poison gas seep out of its mouth as Houndour was running towards it. Houndour breathed in the gas, instantly becoming poisoned. Houndour groaned and sneezed, trying anything not to breathe in any more.

Seeing his Pokémon in pain made him think about what he was doing. This was his first real battle and from the looks of it, Houndour was Poisoned. Rex knew he had a lot to learn about Pokémon, he was going to get his Pokémon out of there before anything else went wrong. There was a large explosion. Rex was blown back into the street as traffic halted and swerved around him, nearly crashing. Cars beeped and drivers yelled. Houndour came sliding out of the smoke, looking extremely hurt. He was in the middle of the explosion as well as having the poison weakening him.

Rex got to his feet and limped back to the alley. Taking out a pokeball he put it foward, "Return." The beam shot towards Houndour, the beam sent the dog Pokémon back to it's ball. "You did good, I must catch up with that kid and tell him I'm sorry for not helping him." Rex said looking toward the Grimer. "I'm not sure if you can understand me or not but I'll come back to this alley and battle you and catch you. I'll be training." Rex said running pass Grimer.

The Grimer merely appeared threatening, apparently ignoring your speech. It tried to block your escape, apparently blaming you for awakening it from its slumber. It hurled another ball of mud at you, but it was too slow and you were out of range by this time.

Finally, you were able to catch up with the boy a couple of blocks away. He was clutching his knees and panting, more than likely confused why his Cubone was acting so oddly. He didn't look like the type to abuse his Pokémon, so what could be the problem?

"Cubone, what in the world are you doing?!" the kid yelled at it, suddenly spotting it. The Cubone was a few feet away, attempting to scale the wall of a brick building. The little Skull Pokémon was having some difficulties, although his hands and feet were small enough to fit in between the brick. Finally, he was able to slide himself onto the roof and out of sight.

Had it just been you, or did the little Cubone appear possessed? It's eyes were oddly blank that moment....It definitely hadn't appeared that way in the alley. Naturally, possession belonged in the field of ghost Pokémon, but if a ghost was possessing it, then why? First, you may want to catch that Cubone....

An old wooden ladder was lying in an alley beside the building. It looked pretty unstable, but maybe it'd get you up to the roof without too many problems. If you did run into some problems, the Pokémon Center is (for some odd reason) conveniently located across the street. If you weren't too worried about the Cubone, you could go and heal your Houndour first.

The Grimer was slower than Rex thought it would be. As he ran toward the other trainer he thought about what he did. If he would of helped the trainer out the fisrt time, Houndor wouldn't be poisoned right now. Rex looked at the trainer and his Pokémon.

"Cubone, what in the world are you doing?!"

From the looks of it this Pokémon was going to jump on top of the building. The Cubone's eyes were blank, seeing that remind him of something. Rex could remember the trainers that came back to Pallet Town who told the kids about their adventures. One female trainer told Rex about her first encounter with a ghost Pokémon and how her Jigglypuff was possessed by it.

Wow, things like that creeped him out. Before he was going to help the trainer out he had to heal his Pokémon. Remembering seeing a Pokémon Center before he had enter the alley, he knew that this was the time to heal his Pokémon. "I'll be right back." he dashed across the street to the center. (I'm going to fade a bit) Rex came back and looked around and found a ladder put it up and climbed also making sure it didn't break.

It didn't look like the kid had heard you as he had vanished when you came back. The street was eerily empty as well. The ladder stayed still as you climbed it and thankfully didn't break. A mother Pidgey, guarding her chicks, squawked at you menacingly. She continued to glare at you as you reached the top. Once on the roof, you glanced about but didn't see any sign of the Cubone. However, the strange looking house a few homes away looked promising.

As you leaped across the buildings, a strange nagging feeling tickled your mind. It was like it was telling you not to go anywhere near it. The crooked lightning rod stuck out at an odd angle. There was no way to jump onto the roof of the building as its roof was way too steep to get a footing in. The entire house was dark and looked like the typical scary, haunted house on the haunted hill. Several windows were shattered and many of the shredded curtains were flapping in the wind. You could hear something moving around inside though and the huge eviction notice on the front door meant you didn't really have to obey the breaking and entering laws that much.

There was a fire escape ladder near you that would let you jump over the spiked fence into the creepy house's yard. That is, if you dared go in.

Something was weird, the guy was gone when Rex came back. The street was eerily empty as well. He was glad that the ladder didn't fall or break. If it did, he wouldn't be able to find that Cubone or the trainer. When Rex got on top of the roof he saw a Pidgey, he wasn't going to waste his time again by battling the Pokémon.

Maybe later though. Not to far he saw a house that looked like it was haunted. Two things were going through his mind. One: You could go into the house and find the Cubone. Two: You could leave and never find out what was going on.

Rex of course liked an adventure, so he picked one. He was so close that he could almost reach out and touch it. After a while he realies that there was no way he could jump on the roof. Seeing a fire escape ladder he jump to it and climb just enough to hop over. Right now he was in the creepy house's yard. Right now he felt like Scooby-Doo trying to sovle a mystery.

The yard was exactly like the house; creppy! As you entered, you gazed around, looking at all the wierd statues and fountains this garden possesed. The path was edged with overgrown, thorny hedges, which looked pretty hard to get through without getting a thorn or two stuck in you.

You carried on nevertheless, squeezing through the hedges with your arms up over your head, elbows spread wide, hoping a thorn wouldnt prick you in the face. The bushes wernt long thank god, and you had gotten out of them, a few thorns stuck in your clothes, but it could have been alot worse.

Well, here stood the creepy old house, with the typical gargoyle statues staring down on you, almost as if they were alive. The large doors had a hole in them, there was your opening. You quickly galopped through the whole, knowing if you didnt hurry yourself up, the Cubone would surely get away from you. However, this house was very big, and very bare, all that stoof in this room was a fireplace, some broken chairs and tables, and a few pieces of broken glass scattered. On the left hand side was a rotating staircase. And directly infront of you was another door. Which way to go?

When hopped in the yard he was a little bit scared. The only thing that kepted him from being scared was the fact that this was a perfect place too find some Pokémon. For some odd reason, he didn't see any. When Rex walked in the house he had the whole being watched feeling. With the typical gargoyle statues staring down on him, almost as if they were alive. The large doors had a hole in them, there was Rex's opening. You quickly galopped through the hole.

On the other side of the hole was a fireplace, some broken chairs and tables, and a few pieces of broken glass scattered. On the left hand side was a rotating staircase. And directly infront of you was another door. Rex reached for a pokeball and threw it to the ground, out came his dog Pokémon houndour. "Okay you go through that door, and if you find anything bark." With that the dog Pokémon gave him a cheerful bark and tackle the door down and went through it. Rex turn toward the rotating staircase ran up them.

Your Houndour raced up the stairs, following them up to the second landing of the building. He stopped for a few seconds before starting to feel the skin on the back of his neck stand on edge. He felt a presence that he obviously didn’t like. He immediately started growling and taking the corridor a lot slower then he had been, making sure to try to push open each door to peak inside. Eventually he got to the last room, a room that had the faint sounds of snoring from inside, as well as the sound of an evil malicious laughter.

Houndour growled loudly and broke the door down, his barking ringing through the building as clear as crystal. As you heard him barking you made a mad dash to catch up, until you finally caught up with him. You gasp in surprise as you round the corner and enter the room to find two Gastly right above your Houndour, each one floating and trying to get close to the sleeping Cubone that was apparently asleep on the ground. “Gaaastly gaast,” the ghost Pokémon start saying before finally deciding it was worth the risk and start preparing to attack your Houndour.

The first Gastly closes the distance a good bit and tries to use hypnosis, your Houndour easily throws that effect off, only to find that the other Gastly is coming right at him, its tongue bared for what will undoubtedly be a very nasty experience.

Oh no, ghastly are attacking you, what shall you do know, better think quick because that Gastly looks like it might think your Houndour would taste good and is about to find out.

Rex searched the house for the cubone, but he couldn't find anything. Good thing his Houndour was a dog Pokémon, that way it could smell where the cubone was. After about five minutes, Rex heard the barking of his Pokémon in another room. Rex made a mad dash to catch up, until he finally caught up with him. Rex gasp in surprise as he enter the room to find two Gastly right above your Houndour, each one floating and trying to get close to the sleeping Cubone that was apparently asleep on the ground.

"Wow, so these were the Pokémon that took control of the cubone's mind." Rex thought to himself as he saw the ghost Pokémon. "Use ember on the first Gastly that get's close and follow it up with a howl.... This is our second battle with wild Pokémon, and we're not losing this one like the last time." Rex told his Pokémon. Hopefully the ember will take a lot of damage, seeing these Pokémon are made of out gas.

((Sorry for the wait))

Your Houndour nodded and growled at the two Gastly. The one with its tongue hanging out drifted closer and got a surprising burn as it took the full force of the ember attack. He quickly followed this up with a mighty howl, seeming to shake the very foundation of the building you were in. Both Gastly seemed shaken for a minute, the effects of the howl taking effect. Your Houndour decided this was the perfect opportunity and blasted the same Gastly with another ember. The Gastly focused for a second before both trying another lick, each one coming in for the attack.

Your Houndour danced around them, quickly getting out of the way of the flailing tongues, every once in a while it would look over at you for its next instructions. It seemed a bit hesitant to attack on its own, but it figured if you didn’t hurry and tell it what to do it would have to start attacking on its own. Fortunately for you the Houndour had great trust in your ability to guide and decided to continue to evading while waiting for its next instructions.
