Oddly enough, Magnemite did have ears, although scientists have always wondered where. Sadly, that's a bit beside the point now. As Chin let off a Supersonic screech, Magnex started spinning around/through Supersonic. Sadly, you had forgotten a minor detail...Such fast spinning made Magnex slightly dizzy!

Dazed, your magnet tried to remember phase two of your orders. As the force of Thunder Wave touched him, he tried to absorb it. Successful, he then used the electrical force to rocket himself towards Chin with Tackle. Sadly, his dizziness caused him to miss Chin completely and run into the dock where the old fisherman was situated.

"Ya can't best Chin that easily!" the old man said, smiling. "You can go first this time; it'll even things out more. I may be old, but I know my stuff when it comes to battling!" Perhaps he was right there, but you could try to prove to him that you weren't some run-off-the-mill trainer.

So...Ready for round two? Magnex sure was, even though he was slightly dazed. More than anything, both of you were ready to take down this troublesome Chinchou.

Shocked that his pokémon actually got dazed from spinning, Neo recoiled back a bit. I've always thought dizziness was caused by the disruption of fluids in the brain... Last time I checked, Magnex was a robot of sorts... Logical thinking aside, Neo needed to order his pokémon either way. "Magnex, you need to focus. The disruption may be causing you slight confusion, but we're in it to win it! Dive straight toward Chinchou, use Body Slam!"

Magnex turned back, flying backwards a bit. He needed to build up even more speed than he already had. Using a tactful agility, Magnex to a bee line straight toward the enemy pokémon. He'd locked on, and there was only a slight chance he'd miss this one. His speed was basically tripled, the odds were more or less in his favor right now. I'm in it to win it!

Neo assembled himself. I've been through worse, getting here was just like this fight. I had the advantage, but they could easily make it their own advantage. The young boy's jade eyes focused in on the water. He'd seen something. Something that reminded him about his life. Grandpa...I'm sorry... Apparently, there's more to Neo than meets the eye.

Hmm...Perhaps evidence of dizziness suggested that Magnemite did indeed have a sort of brain? You weren't a Pokémon researcher, so you couldn't really confirm that. Yet, let's stick to the present situation, shall we?

As the speeding Magnemite headed towards Chin, the old man smiled. "Chin, use Bubble on yourself to cushion the Body Slam a little, and then do both of us a favor and shake that Magnemite off with a Psybeam!" Psybeam? Really, these Egg Moves were starting to get very troublesome.

Magnex was moving in for the kill when Chin started spurting out bubbles. Using his sac-like feelers, he distributed the bubbles all over his body until he looked more like a mass of bubbles with tentacle-like things. True, he damaged himself slightly by doing this, but it also had the intended effect of cushioning the impact ever so slightly; naturally, the Bubbles also killed Magnex's momentum and damaged him a little.

At this point, Chin used the feelers on his head to throw Magnex off of himself. Instantly, he charged up a Psybeam and sent it at the unlucky magnet. Yet, since Magnex had enough speed to back him up, he narrowly dodged the move.

"Yer thinkin' outside of the box now, laddie!" the old man yelled to you, and then waited for the next round. At least you'd managed to damage the Chinchou that time.

With a long enough wait, Neo and his Pokémon were both ready to get on with their journey. Apprehensive about his Pokémon actually losing this, Neo buckled under the fear of that actually happening. It'd be the third battle in a row that would end in a trip to the Pokémon center, and Lucas didn't want that. Then again, he didn't want to be rude. Trying to decide into what to do, Neo started out to the scene.

By this time, Magnex was fast as heck, but the foe was already charging an attack that could, and would most likely enable his Pokémon partner's doom. "Magnex, don't flinch. You need to continue on. Use the boost, it's our hope. Collide directly into that fish-thing," Neo commanded, with much faith in his Pokémon.

Magnex's initial response to its trainer's plan was "Why does he hate me?" But after moving a bit, realizing the speed it built up, it understood what its trainer's plan was. "Alright, Neo needs to smash it head on, but recent observations makes that a risky plot. Perhaps I should crash into the sides, they seem to be the weaker plots in this Pokémon's body.

"That's all you have, laddie?" the fisherman commented, looking a little disappointed. "Unless...Well, ya seem smarter than you look, fer sure. Chin, whatever happens, use another Bubble to cushion the impact, and hopefully cause some damage with them while you're at it!"

With another chirp, the Chinchou surrounded himself with a shower of Bubbles. Most of them attached to the thing's skin, covering most of its body. Yet, its two antennae-like things were still sticking out. Naturally, Magnex took advantage of this.

Buckling his magnetic body for a Tackle, Magnex smashed into one of Chin's antennae, sending it spinning. This action damaged the Chinchou a little, but it also dislodged some of the Bubbles, which therefore hit Magnex. Yet, this wasn't enough to phase the Magnemite too much, and he Tackled the other side. The bubbles caused even less damage this time, since there were so little of them.

You still had speed on your side, but this battle was starting to drag. This weird old fisherman was stronger and smarter than you thought. He was definitely posing a challenge to you; yet, you knew that you and Magnex could prevail, right? At the moment, the scale of controlling this battle was starting to tip towards you.

Neo was shrouded in disappointment. This didn't stop Magnex, however. It'd found what seemed to be a viable weak point, and was going to execute smashing into that for now. Magnex focused itself. Even if its trainer had lost faith in it, and in the battle, it was still opting to win this thing. Learning that the point he had collided with was actually what seemed to be the source of power in the fish-Pokémon, Magnex conjured up a plan to execute.

Latching on with his movable magnets, the small metalized sphere tried to drain the Pokémon of his electrical energy. Magnex was a steel type, but it was also more or less a battery. Harnessing this energy within its magnets would be more than useful. The plan was to use Thunderbolt...

Depending on how much Magnex is actually able to drain, it'll try and absorb enough to unleash it in the form of a Thunderbolt, directly aimed at the enemy's head area, or, Magnex will retreat back into the sky, using its superior speed to outwit the out, it would strike the Pokémon once on his left, and then once on his right, retreating back into the sky. Unleashing Thunderbolt seems like a viable plan, but Magnex hasn't mastered it. The Tackle combo might result in failure, however. All hopes were set on Magnex's ability at this time.

Observing his Pokémon's plan, Neo turned a new light. He shot a smiling nod toward Magnex, declaring he's proud that his Pokémon new what to do in this case. Neo figured it's best to let Magnex carry out his plan. Unlatching the pokeball at his side, Neo released his Corpish, Talael, onto the pier. "Hey, Talael." With a happily snap of his pincers, Talael greeted his trainer, Neo. Neo handed off a Pokémon Treat to his Pokémon.

"Well sir, I suppose that's all I have. But that's not close to all my Pokémon can do."
With a grin, Neo's eyes darted right to his Pokémon. "You can do this, Magnex, we both have faith in you." Talael, although eating, let out a sound of agreement. "Coffff-" Neo gave a stern look to him. "Chew your food," he declared, like a mother or something. Talael gave his trainer a mocking action using his claws, Neo laughed at his Pokémon.

"Well, at least you can still humor me. I would never want to be come like your mother! Oh god. If I became what I loathe the most..." Talael patted his trainer on the back with his pincer. "Alright, let's put our confidence into Magnex!"

The opposing seaman blinked confusedly as his eyes took on a "O.o" appearance. "Ye ain't gonna give yur pokemanz no comandz?" He questioned, before smirking and moving on, "well, it be yur funeral, lad." He said as he then turned to his Chinchou and devised a rather intelligent plot. "Chin, I want ye to use yur strongest Thunder Wave on that there magnet, and when ye get the chance, get in them waters and use yur Psybeam!" The old sailor man ordered as he smirked towards you with his old, chipped, and dirty sailor's teeth.

With that, the round started again... and Magnex had no commands to speak of... not that it could speak... being a magnet and such. That doesn't matter though! Because the battle was on, and Magnex was looking a bit... silly as he spun around and around wondering what might be coming his way. Chinchou haulted his wait though, and released a high voltage Thunder Wave out towards Magnex, and Thunder Wave that Magnex attracted into his magnet 'arms' as he spun around, and charged himself up for another electric-attack to Chinchou.

With a loud metalic sound from Magnex, a powerful bolt of energy charged towards Chinchou as it struck him right in the Antennaes. "Chin..." The Pokémon chimed, not taking damage from the direct electric-attack as he had now activated his Volt Absorb ability, and was changing the electricity into health as soon enough, he expelled the electric attack and watched as Magnex continued to spin around and around.

"CHINCHOU!" The Pokémon called as it charged up a powerful beam in its antennaes, watching as they changed from one color to the next in seconds, almost like they could give you a seizure if you stared at them long enough. "Chin!" Chinchou released the powerful ray outwards towards Magnex, who was able to spin more rapidly them before and sort of, used that speed to deflect the beam off of his metallic 'skin' meaning he took only about half of the damage he normally would have taken, what came next though, was rather unexpected.

During the final few rays of the attack, Magnex started spinning in the OPPOSITE direction, causing the rays to twist backwards, and eventually, be sent back towards Chinchou sending the Pokémon back towards a chunk of rock that was popping out of the ground randomly.

Enthralled by the result of the round the last round, Neo called out to his Pokémon. "Great performance, here's this rounds plan:" Magnex was already headed right toward the foe who was literally splatted against the rock, but Neo felt like adding some advice. "Your speed is more than high enough to strike into the enemy before it's even able to regain itself from the strike."

Magnex was charging directly toward the enemy, Neo actually felt like he'd done something productive. Talael was snapping his claws, happy that his trainer had given out orders to make this round semi-productive. The Pokémon was happy to see the fight, but also ready to move on with their journey. Neo had talked about teaching Talael some stronger moves, and he was ready to learn them. Waiting for Magnex to finish this up was kinda of digging under his skin...

Neo made eye contact with the older timer who seemed to be seasoned with knowledge. "More than an amazing battle, sir. May the best man win," he said. Neo hoped to win this, but wasn't exactly looking forward to his Magikarp prize. Perhaps he'd just auction it off for some cold, hard cash.

Magnex's high speed was enough to do what you wanted. As Chin staggered to his feet from growing exhaustion, he was knocked back down by the charging Magnemite. With a small, pained chirp, the thing was knocked back into the chunk of rock. It was then sent sliding down onto the sand, where it struggled to regain its footing.

"Glad ya like this, laddie," the old fisherman said with a wink. "You've got my blood boiling higher than its been in years. I like that! That Magikarp will be well-earned, mate!...If you win, that is. Chin, since that thing's still next to you, use a Flail!"

Slapping at Magnex in fury, Flail would've caused some decent damage if Magnemite hadn't had a speed boost on him. Yet, both Pokémon were obviously getting pretty tired. Someone would have to deliver the final blow, and that someone appeared to be you. The Chinchou was trying his best, but his strength was failing more than Magnex's at the moment.

End it, why don't you? "Just end it," the fisherman said, giving you a sad smile. "I knew I'd found a good 'un to battle!"

Neo placed his hand behind his head. Magnex was clearly a tad warn out from the facade of battle, but had really pulled through. Then again, it wasn't over quite yet. "One last assault, smash into the enemy head on!" Magnex twirled around, quickly charging for the enemy pokémon. Neo was proud that his little warrior had brought up so much effort in such little time.

Talael fluttered about; clearly the battle was a bit boring for him. Neo shrugged. "Everything's not always about you, ya know." The little lobster rejected his trainer's efforts of making everything seem fair. Neo did realize that he was giving a better effort into training Magnex than an equal plane for Talael. "Alright, let's try and earn you a move, then!" Talael was a bit excited, "learning a move! Yippie!"

After a brief moment of scanning his Poké Tech, Neo was already to plan out the move Talael would be learning, Magnex needed some sort of rest, anyways. Neo waited silently for his pokémon to finish the battle as he clicked away at the different buttons of his wrist-watch device. Talael grew impatient, and snipped at his trainer a slight bit. "Alright, alright," Neo implied. He needed to find a way to teach his pokémon how to use his own claws in a way of offense.

"This move's name is Vicegrip. Apparently it's the use of your claws to snap something around them. Clearly you should be able to perform this move already, but it's probably the speed that's involved in the movement that's holding you back."

Neo scanned the surrounding dock with his eyes. There's got to be something...ah, maybe on the beach.. Neo turned to his pokémon. "Alright, for now, you need to practice pinching. Not me, of course, but perhaps the air. It's a formidable training dummy." Talael nodded, and began to snap at the air. Neo observed, curiously. It's not like Talael was using a bunch of effort, he's really only snapping at the air. At this point, Talael probably wouldn't be consuming that much energy anyways.

Obviously, the old man had conceded to you already. There was just that little matter called Chin to bother you now. Yes, the Chinchou had to be knocked out before Magnex could benefit from the battle in any way. Charging towards the very exhausted Chinchou as fast as his battered body would allow, the Magnemite slammed it into the retreating surf of the beach. Thank God, that persistent Pokémon was finally down for the count.

Magnex gained 117 :exp and jumped to Level 8!

"Nice one, lad," the old fisherman once again chuckled, recalling Chin. "I say again, I knew ya were a nice 'catch' to battle against! Here's your reward for yer efforts." Pulling out a Pokeball, he pitched it in your direction. Catching the ball, something let itself out and started swimming in the shallows before popping its head up for a look at you.

"Karp?" it seemed to inquire, looking around for the old man. But the old-timer had already started walking off to lord-knows-where, whistling an unfamiliar tune. He didn't seem at all bothered that he had lost. Yet, you shouldn't be too disappointed...you landed a free Magikarp out of the deal, correct? He seemed pretty feisty, as well.

:magikarp :male Lv. 12

Now, on to Talael's move tutoring. Following your instructions, the impatient lobster started tentatively pinching the air with his claws, trying to get a feel of his true power. He flexed them in this way for a few minutes, until he became bored and scuttled over to a twig that the tide had dragged in.

Reaching down, he picked up the twig and pinched it cleanly in two. Pleased, he then tried it with a small, wet rock, but to no avail. Frustrated, the Corphish squeezed it harder and harder until...It slid out of his claws, rocketed through the air, and came down on your left shin. Ow.

Not a bad start, and Talael seemed to almost have the move. Yet, he needed to learn now to keep a longer hold on things, no matter what kind of surface they had.

Magnex slowly made its way back to Neo. With a smile, Neo pulled out the pokémon's poké ball. "Nice battle, I like the effort put forth." Neo silently called his pokémon back to the safe haven which it could rest while he trained up the others. Noticing the left behind prize of sorts, a lone Magikarp. Not exactly an interest, Neo decided to just scoop it up into the pokeball it came from.

Talael practice was going quite swimmingly. He'd almost perfected the move at hand without even using that much effort. "Awesome," Neo commented. Talael, however, was not happy with himself- the rock got away. Figuring he needed to just put more effort into it, the little pokémon snapped into the support pillar of the pier, which shocked Neo. "Oh god, please, don't do that. Try something else..like that rock!"

Neo ran straight toward the rock, eventually climbing atop it. It wasn't too big, but still, he could be at least eye-level with people now. "Attention! Attention! Here I have for sale a ripe, rich, ready Magikarp! All he needs is a good home, and a good trainer! We'll start the bidding at $100." What in the world was the child doing? Trying to sell of his Magikarp...

Taking no mind to his loony trainer, Talael continued to pinch onto the rock, he was clearly trying to perfect the move he was almost one hundred percent on. Just a bit more...just a bit more... Putting much effort into it, the little lobster tried a second time to maintain a grip on a strange surface. Neo quickly noticed his Pokémon's attack. He didn't want to disrupt it, but Talael had a bunch of learning opportunities here, and Neo didn't want them to go to waste.

(Yes, yes, I want to learn a few moves, but let's just go with Vicegrip for now. Rock Smash, Harden, and Metal Claw are to come.)

Talael continued snapping away at the rock, getting madder and madder as the rock slipped out of its grasp. It just couldn’t seem to get a grip on the darned thing. Talael sighed as the Pokémon continued snapping at the rock. Eventually he got tired of the rock and decided maybe it would be best to focus and think before he moved.

Talael stopped and focused on its claws, focused on the shape of them, as well as the shape of the rock. After about 5 minutes Talael slowly reached its claw out again and formed it around the rock. This time it fit a little better, but still to no avail. The rock slipped harmlessly out of the Pokémons claws, landing with a dull thud as it hit the sand.

Talael quickly grew angry at the rock and started trying again, failing each time as he forgot to relax and think before trying. Eventually the poor Pokémon got tired and had to take a break.

This turned out to be a helpful thing as it gave it time to think. As he sat there trying to regain its breath and energy he discovered that if he turned his claws a certain angle he could get a better grip on the rock. He reached out slowly and turned his claw, finally grasping the rock perfectly.

Talael grinned in happiness and started tossing the rock from claw to claw, careful to form his claws in the certain angle to catch the rock. He looked up at you for praise, and found you watching him. He scuttled up to you and looked up at you, beaming in happiness as he tossed the rock from claw to claw. Congratulations, your Corphish successfully learned Vice Grip. Now he was looking for praise, were you going to give it?

Neo happily smiled to his Pokémon in praise. "Seasoned just right. Perfection, as I see it!" Bending down, the young trainer gave a slight nuzzle to the calming Talael. Although he'd just used force and frustration to master a move about four levels above him, the small ruffin seemed to be returning to that cool state Neo most frequently knows him in. Collecting some will power, the Pokémon brings up another concern.

His hatred of the rock.

Clearly, something had to be done to it, or about it. Neo found this not only a way to praise his Pokémon, but to also sneak in some last resort training he desperately needed to perform. Setting up the rock against another rock, Neo stepped out of the blood-range of his little Pokémon. "Your goal here is to make the rock smash. I'm not exactly sure on how you feel comfortable with it, so try and crack it with pressure for your claws, or maybe by smashing it with your claw, like a hammer or sorts."

Stepping up to the plate, Talael first nudged the rock, inspecting its strong points, locating its weak points. Overall, it seemed like a hardy opponent. Really, it's a rock that could be broken with some effort, and that's all Neo was looking for from his Pokémon. Talael was clearly still ready to go, and really, he had a score to settle with this piece of earth. Lifting his larger claw, the Pokémon drove down on the rock hard- there's no way his claw could possibly take damage, perhaps it would just be a slight scratch or two. Nothing that would stop him now.

Neo coaxed on, trying to help his Pokémon hit just the right spot in the rock. That's what this set of the training was all about: precision. Talael had proven he could pinch, which is natural, but could he break? Clearly those pincers should be able to naturally smite the stone, but is it that easy for Talael?

Cocking his head, Talael started nudging his claw around, checking for weaker spots on the rock. Yet, this was a little hard, considering the fact that it was moist from the ocean's spray. Finally believing that he'd found a decent spot, the Corphish brought his right claw down on it hard. Still, even with all of that power, he only succeeded in batting the rock away from himself.

Blowing some small bubbles out in frustration, Talael scuttled after the elusive rock. This time, he gripped it firmly between his right pincer (which was quite a "pinch-full") and applied pressure to it. This time, a few visible cracks appeared in the rock, and after a moment, it shattered. Yet, the fragments were still fairly large, so the Corphish definitely needed more work with this problem.

Still, Talael was ticked enough at the rock to grind it into a fine dust. Soon, that troublesome rock was just a memory. Looking around, he tried to locate a bigger rock to practice on. Spotting a peculiar pink and white one, he tried smashing it with his claw.

"Cor?" the rock said, and then batted him away with one of its branch-like coral projections. "Corsola Cor!" she said angrily, scuttling into the water with an "I'm very offended" look on her face. Luckily for you, she only seemed interested in relaxing in peace. Blushing, Talael located a bigger and genuine rock further up the beach, and waited for you to give him some more instructions.
