Losing energy before a battle even started would be a bit of a challenge, but if Magnex is able to get the Corphish into a spot where he could attack it would be much easier. Neo surveyed the battle some more. "Great performance, Magnex! You're just going to need to hang in there a bit more. Dodging right now is important to us, remember that. Still, you're almost good at using ThunderShock so I want you to continue a bit with that. Feel free to send currents into the water, that's where they'll intensify, making your move a little more successful!" Of course, not every action could be understood: Neo was a novice when it came to Pokémon training. Magnex, tired from training, hovered about trying to contemplate what its trainer had shot out. Well, Neo needs me to rest as much as I do, however, I'm going to need to lure this guy into the water. Once I do that my electrical moves should be enhanced enough for me to give him a good surge. Although no commands were given, Neo intended on his Pokémon to use anything it needed to to dodge oncoming attacks, but still needed to shot the offensive itself. Thundershock was close to be learned, level wise, but still had a bit to go in the current situation. Thunderbolt seemed far-fetched, but Neo did still plan on having his Pokémon master; probably not until this battle wides down a bit. |

Magnex would be panting if he had a mouth and a tongue. He shook himself off to try and revive his focus. Okay, just work on Thundershock. That wouldn't be so hard. He could do that. Corphish gurgled but really didn't mind the water. If that was the best the little magnet had, he wasn't afraid to come into the water. He scuttled on in, snapping his claws threateningly. Magnex buzzed and began to spin once again to draw in the energy from the air. His little screwtop sparked violently. Corphish had other plans and again fired a Bubble at the spinning Pokémon. A few bubbles struck him but most evaporated from the heat. The Thundershock was stronger this time. It wasn't as impressive as the Thunderbolt had been at first but the sparks still flew. Corphish made a strange noise in surprise as he tried to scuttled out of the way. The electricity struck him and the water, sending the sparks coursing through the waves. Oh wait, you're in the water too. Uh oh. The attack wasn't as strong as it could be and that was probably good news for you. A sudden pain shot through your legs as the sparks came within your position. It felt like your legs had gone numb more than anything. Corphish gurgled angrily and shot more bubbles before shooting forward. He didn't look too happy. He leaped out and his claws fastened on Magnex. The Magnemite squealed as he lost a bit altitude. The lobster hung on, determined to drag the Electric-type into the water. Magnex let a couple of sparks go to try and dislodge him but he hung on tight. This wasn't good. As of right now, the entire battle was looking bad for Neo and Magnex. They were down a significant level of energy, and still needed to learn a move before it was possible for them to win the battle. Magnex leeched off electrical currents in the atmosphere for energy. It tried to even drain the Corpfish of any type of electromagnetic energy it might contain, but of course it wasn't a robo-Pokémon, so no electricity is inevitable. Neo had made it out of the water before his Pokémon launched its attack. Prior planning lead to a use of the mind, for once. Neo scurried out of the water and onto the shock-resistant beach. The battle in the water continued on. Magnex was barely hanging on, and with Corpfish holding it down, it was even harder. The young Magnemite was still able to rip energy from the air to use against Corpfish, but not much energy was generated. The plan B it needed was to use the ocean as a direct power-source. At an astonishing rate, Magnex allowed the wild Pokémon to pull it directly above the ocean, magnets and bolts skimming the surface of the ocean. Neo hoped for rain, thunder, and lighting right about now, but there's no say what the weather will do today. Magnex scurried up some more energy, and released it into the ocean. Hopefully the shock will be enough to phase the wild crab, removing Magnex from his tight clutch. Neo had seen his Pokémon's logic and decided to throw his part of it into the ring. "Great idea, Mag, but now all you have to do is fire off another Thundershock into water. But, if you feel something giving you energy, don't refrain from using ThunderBolt!" Magnex mechanically agreed as it was still being pulled at by the Corpfish. "You're really annoying, you know that? Magnex asked the Pokémon in some sort of foreign language only Pokémon could understand. |

Magnex, rotating like a high-speed windmill, started collecting energy from the atmosphere as tiny sparks started collecting around the magnets of his body. "Cor..." The crawfish like Pokémon said as it looked at Magnex, then noticed as the water underneath the big metal was actually picking up out of the water, crashing into itself, creating more and more energy as it did so. "Phish!" The Pokémon said as quickly, with both claws, it released random arrays of bubbles at the magnetic Pokémon. Ignoring the bubbles as they came towards him, Magnex only continued rotating, faster and faster. It was amazing that he hadn't gotten confused by this point. But as he spun and spun, the electricity he was gathering in his body, and the electricity that was being created by the crashing waters, caused the bubbles to completely burst before getting within a foot of him. Magnex -no longer spinning, but covered in electricity- lowered his body downwards, tilting his magnets into the water. "Magne..." He said as the electricity that covered his body was slowly being channeled into his magnet. The corphish looked around, trying to find a place where he could hide. "Cor..." He said, releasing another stream of bubbles towards Magnex, hoping to distract the Pokémon from attacking. "MITE!" Magnex finished his call as the electricity in his magnets was released in two bolts in the water, shining gold as they charged towards the Corphish. Half way towards the fish, the two bolts became one as it struck the area in which the Corphish was located, Corphish, with not way to escape, was shocked when he was stricken by the thunderbolt -no pun intended. It seemed as though the immense power of the attack had stricken the fish even INSIDE its shell, and if it would've been a normal crawfish, you would've had yourself dinner! Once the electricity from the attack trailed off from the area, Corphish was left in the water, face-down as he started floating off with the waves. "Cor..." You heard a smalle call from the crawfish, before it's eyes took on a "X_X" appearance, and it had been KO'd with that one move. Magnex, happy that he had won the battle, spun around in excitement until his own eye took on a "@" Appearance, and he fell onto the water in complete and utter fatigue, having lost MUCH energy, there was no way he could continue without going to the Pokémon center. ![]() 24/35 12%MAGNEX WON HIS MATCH! Magnex's astonishing power that was able to knock out the wild Pokémon shocked Neo, but not literally. Neo pulled a pokeball from his backpack, waiting for his chance to capture the Pokémon Magnex had been fighting against. Magnex's last shot of energy was more than enough for Neo to be proud of. His Pokémon, even though it was low on power, was able to beat down an enemy that was running on full vitality. As soon as the Corphish fell to the beach, Neo took his chance and launched the pokeball, capturing the Pokémon in a single shake. Neo smiled happily as he scooped up the red and white sphere that lay in the sand of the beach. "Awesome work, Magnex! ... Magnex?" Neo's Pokémon was no longer in sight...where could it have gone? Neo ran over to where he previously say his steel-typed Pokémon battling. Magnex was being bashed around by the calm waves of the ocean. Neo sighed, pulling out the Magnemite's sphere, returning him to it. "Good work.." He told the Pokémon as he lowered the arm holding the pokeball, clicking the center button to shrink it, then slipping it in his pocket. Neo did the same with Corphish's pokeball. Walking along the beach for a bit, Neo decided it was in his best interest to get up to shore, and get his Pokémon healed. He'd go along the same path he used to get down to the beach from the Pokémon center, stopping in to get healed once again. Neo wouldn't object to anything* the nurse did, the * noting that it has to be healing-related. Figuring it was late, Neo would also look for a bunk within the Pokémon center he could sleep in for the night. Neo was contempt with his new partner. A Corphish is actually a pretty cool water type, and does evolve into a strong dark type, so to him, the waste of time wasn't a waste at all. On the other side of today's events, learning ThunderShock was a good idea, especially now that it could help Neo perfect his Pokémon using ThunderBolt. |

So...It hadn't been such a bad first day at all, had it? Magnex had learned Thundershock and you had battled and captured a new Corphish. True, you had nearly lost part of your face to the little lobster, but loyal Magnex had taken care of that problem. Thus was the life of a new trainer...Or any trainer, for that matter. Either way, you would have plenty of ups and downs. After about half an hour of walking, you returned to the Pokémon Center. Since it was almost dusk, it wasn't quite as busy as it would be in the daytime. Still, Chansey were scrambling all over the place, and Nurse Joy could be seen from time to time behind the counter treating the worse-off Pokémon. Immediately, a Chansey popped up in front of you and whisked away your Pokeballs to a healing machine. You only had to wait a few minutes (in one of the comfy chairs, mind you) for your Pokémon to be returned to you. The same Chansey then brought you a room key and pointed to a stairwell that led up to the trainer rooms. Obviously she had sensed your need for bed rest ASAP. Going up the old (yet grand) wooden stairs, you came to your room for the night (Room 5). Inserting the key into the lock, you revealed a fairly simple room with a window on the far wall, two bunk beds on the opposite sides of the room where you were standing (right and left), and some small sets of drawers for each trainer. The cheaper rooms were shared, but the private room would cost money. Well...This wouldn't be too bad, right? Anyway, some public bathrooms for each gender were across the hall...And didn't you see a sign somewhere about an all-you-can-eat, FREE cafeteria at the far end of the hall? |

Neo was happy with the hospitality that the staff at the Pokémon center was able to provide. Although he was shocked at the fact that Pokémon, rather than humans, were providing care to him, but it really didn't matter that much to him anyways. He happily accepted the room, and made no time to settle in. Both Magnex, and his newly captured Corphish appeared in a double shimmer of blue light. Neo checked out some information of his PokeTech, checking mainly the information on a Corphish. 'Its hardy vitality enables it to adapt to any environment. Its pincers will never release prey.' Neo silently read the information to himself as Magnex and the new partner got acquainted. Neo began to recall some of the names he'd studied when in school, but nothing appealed to him. Thinking about it some more, a light bulb suddenly went off in Neo's head. "Talael! Talael it is! Corphish, your new nickname is now Talael!" Corphish seemed to like the new name. "Well then, let's check your moves..." Neo trailed off as he inspected the move list for Corphish his Poketech provided. Nothing was close, but Neo did take interest in Vicegrip. This sort of attack appealed to him, and he'd like to see Talael master it. Someday. As for now, Neo was focused on getting some rest. The next morning, Neo fed his Pokémon (well, Talael at least,) some Pokémon food he always carried with him in his bag. Neo was ready to start a new day, full of new things. He silently wandered out of his lodging, retracing his steps to the main lobby. There he'd pay his respects by actually donating $10, before slipping out the doors. Once Neo was out and about the town, he's going to make a quick stop at the Pokémon. Permitted he locates it without any run-ins, Neo is going to stop in to pick up some supplies he needs. Seeing how much the potions cost, and how little they only heal a small amount, Neo didn't find it necessary to waste his cash. 'That's why we sleep' He murrmered to himself, avoiding the temptations to purchase the items. He figured that stocking up with two pokeballs was more than enough. 'I could tinker with their effects...' Neo happily chucked up the required amount of cash as he paid for the wanted items. If everything that was mentioned above goes swell, Neo will most likely wander back into town to search for an exit. He wanted to get to the nearest route he could to begin searching for a rock and or flying type to make battle with. |

Awaking the following day, you fed your Corphish some Pokémon food before calling it back into it's pokeball and heading downstairs. Upon reaching the lobby, you looked around and secretly placed 10$ in the donation jar of the Pokémon center before walking out onto the streets with Magnext close behind you, spinning about entertaining himself. Walking down the streets of Tohea, you could see trainers swarming in, just as they had the previous day. New trainers, new Pokémon, new adventures started everywhere it seemed, but that really didn't matter to you. So, as you walked onwards towards the Pokémart, Magnex just played about happily. Soon enough, you found yourself standing infront of the Pokémon, staring in through the glass windows as you noticed the preices of certain items, and their effects. Quickly, you waltzed right into the building and searched through the aisles, noticing the various types of items that were aligned in the store. Poitons, pokeballs, repels, and many other items caught your eye, but as you picked up items to see what they could do, you wern't too impressed. Finally, you came to the decision that you'd only purchase two pokeballs, as they were more then enough for now. Walking up to the cashier, you set the pokeballs down onto the counter and pulled out your wallet while the man rang up the two items. "That'll be 120$ kid," The cashiers words came out in clear-pronunciation. Placing the money on the counter, grabbing the two pokeballs, and then tossing them into your bag, you walked right out of the store and stood outside with Magnex. Soon enough, you got back to walking about the city, not too much was happening today it seemed, as high above you the sun shone brightly over the city, not a cloud in the sky. Suddenly, a girl came up to you and looked into your eyes as she smiled. "Hello there sir, would you be interested in--" She spoke, but your mind just trailed off as you noticed that behind the woman was a man chasing after a Pokémon. So, did you want to stay and talk to the woman? Chase after the man and Pokémon? Or just ignore them both and continued onwards! |

Neo wasn't about to stop his journey for anyone. He pushed of the women, carrying on his way. Neo wasn't exactly the charismatic type, and especially in a city that was completely new to him, he figured he didn't need to make friends with anyone but his own Pokémon. "Sorry, miss, but I have to gain a certain prowess on another frontier," Neo stated before emotionless-ly moving on. Neo was happy that the sun was shining bright above him, but wasn't thrilled with it. Being that it's sunny, it might actually be harder for Magnex to use his Thunder Bolt, and that wasn't what Neo had planned. After thinking about it for a bit, Neo decided that Magnex should really have a chance at learning this move. Once again, he took toward the beach area. Once on the beach, Neo would seek out trainers, particularly ones who are fishing, or training their water typed Pokémon. Magnex followed silently behind Neo the entire time. Talael was soundly resting in his pokeball, undisturbed by anything that was going on in the outside world. |

The woman's face took on a bit of a frown as you pushed onward, but that wasn't any of your business, right? Sure, you were pretty heartless, but nobody seemed to deeply care. Likewise, the man chasing after the Pokémon didn't really catch your attention, either. Be warned, as you may lose some great opportunities if you're too ignorant. For now, you were just set on finding a trainer with a water Pokémon so that you could train Magnex. Thunderbolt was a powerful move, but it would take a lot of concentration from Magnex, and some great ingenuity from you to make this whole training exercise work. Walking down to the beach where you had found your dear Corphish the day before, you found a few fishermen fishing off of some nearby docks. One especially fat old guy wearing a fisherman's hat was bagging Magikarp by the dozens. "And another one...and another one...and yet another one!" he was saying softly, giggling like a maniac. Being a sensible person, you wisely passed him by. No need to get buried in the market of stinking fish now. Suddenly, a decent-sized Wailmer surfaced a few yards away from the shore. A kid about your age in swimming trunks was riding on top of the hulking thing. In fact, they were even doing tricks. As the Wailmer spouted some water out of his blowhole, the kid was able to stand on top of the forceful exhaled water and keep his balance. Lv. 8So...Wish to challenge him? |

Neo was feeling let down right now. He pondered it, and that person could have possibly offered a great quest for him to do, most likely with some juicy rewards. Neo sighed as he regrettably walked toward the beach. He noticed some men fishing, which Neo was fascinated with. Neo's eyes darted to a man who pulled up at least five Magikarp. Neo approached the man, but then noticed something off the shore line. He noticed a Wailmer. At first, Neo didn't notice anyone riding it, but he wasn't exactly interested anyways. Once Neo spotted the boy, however, he kind of got a little bit of an aggressive rush, "Perhaps I should battle him," the young trainer thought to himself. Magnex hovered behind, watching the man bag those Magikarp like they were nothing, and to the metal Pokémon, they were noting. Magnex hovered down, tapping Neo on his shoulder. "Sup?" Neo asked his Pokémon. Magnex turned, pointing with his magnet toward the man. Neo nodded, "Yeah, I saw. He seems like he's hott stuff, eh?" Magnex reacted with a '^^' facial expression, noting a form of laughter. "Maaagnooomitte" Neo wasn't exactly keen on understanding the communication that Magnex tried to use, but he took it into his own words. "Competitive, eh?" Magnex swirled, admitting to Neo's accusation. "Well, he's got a lot of those fish, think you could fry 'em?" Magnex made a '>>' face, signaling that they'd be nothing short of easy. Neo shrugged, turning his head to the man, then approaching. "Wow, sure are bagging a lot today, huh?" Neo was going to wait for the man's answer, and no matter what he'd say, most likely answer with "Cool." Neo searched the man for pokeballs with his eyes. He'd saw all the Magikarp the trainer was bringing up, but did he have anymore Pokémon that Neo would have to battle against? Either way, Neo will propose a battle. "Hey, do you want to battle? One on one sound good?" He'd wait for the trainer's response, Magnex idly hovering overhead. |

"Yup! I've been baggin' a lot o' these things since I was a pup!" the old man said, lifting up his hat a little to see you better as he turned towards you. "Thar good for the fish market downtown, and to sell to trainers who want to try fer a Gyarados!" Standing up, you could see that he was wearing old-fashioned orange swimming trunks and...nothing. In fact, he was letting it all hang out...and he didn't exactly shave...at all. Most sensible people would've worn a shirt, but it wasn't your realm to judge the guy. "Sure I'll battle ya," he said after a moment. "I reckon I've pretty well exhausted meself for such a huge catch." He indicated a net tied to the dock where at least two dozen Magikarp were bobbing in the water within the object's confines. "But not with those. They ain't legally mine unless I confine 'em in a ball. "This little critter," he started, throwing a pokeball into the water. "Is mine." The Pokeball opened up with a flash of light and dumped something into the water. The thing was under the surface, and didn't come up right away until... "Chinchou!" Lv. 9"This here's Chin, and he's been my fishing buddy for at least three years!" the old guy boasted proudly. "If you win, you get a bonus Magikarp as payment; you can do whatever you want with it. If I win, you have to fish with me for a day." He was really driving a bargain with Chin, considering that the thing was a partial electric Pokémon. No wonder he was good at bagging fish so easily! So...Are you going to take the bet? |

Neo silently listened to the man's explaining. He expressed his feelings with a "Cool." Neo nodded in agreement to mostly everything the man had said. After the burly character had agreed to the battle, added his own terms, and sending out his Pokémon, Neo's offer remained unchanged, he didn't care what he was going to battle, and winning or losing both have some pretty cool sides to them. Jade eyes darted to the water. A Pokémon with luminous ears rose to the surface after being released in a flash of blue light. Neo was astonished at the Pokémon, it was more or less Magnex and Talael combined into one fish. Neo clicked the pokedex function on his poketech. After scanning over the Pokémon, he noticed that it was somewhat resistant to electric type attacks, but being at the low level it was, didn't have any powerful ones of its own yet. Magnex hovered silently behind Neo, focusing in on the poketech's data. Filtering through it, both trainer and Pokémon had gotten quite a good understanding of the Chinchou that sawn in the ocean below them. Neo grabbed up Talael's pokeball, but Magnex insisted that he didn't. With a sigh, the young trainer took the advice motioned by his Pokémon and placed the sphere back. Neo inspected the information that was displayed on his poketech once more. After he'd gazed over it quickly, the young trainer looked up at Magnex, who seemed to be ready to battle. "Alright, sir, your offer is fair!" Magnex twirled in the sky, emoting happiness on his trainer's actions. The Magnemite silently hovered over to were the Chinchou was, Neo began to dish out a battle plan. "Alright, Magnex, let's get a good battle strategy read. We need to make sure that he have enough inertia for a straight up tackle. Use your height to aim out a perfect trajectory, the harder you hit, the better. Before you release yourself to attack, make sure you've built up speed, don't be afraid to use agility." Neo wasn't going to command until his challenger had made his call. |

"Aye lad, I'll get your blood boiling," the old man said with a wink, and then started to laugh like a half-crazed loon. (No jab at a certain Admin there) It was a wonder how anyone could put up with him; more than likely, most people couldn't. If you kept your head screwed on straight, this battle would be yours. "Dearest Chin," the old man began, "Use your grace to prevail in this battle! Such a Magnemite will pay for challenging your ever-flowing beauty!" ...Yeah, this guy was off the cliff. Way off. "Chin, start off with a Thunder Wave at that speeding Magnex or whatever it's called..." Here, he pointed at Magnex as he maneuvered with Agility "and then confuse the thing with Supersonic so that it can't tell north from south!" "Chinchou..." the thing said, and then moved off to do its duty. This was your chance; call out some new orders before you had to deal with a messed-up Pokémon. Magnex tensed up, its target was about to shoot his attack at it. Neo noticed the freezing on his Pokémon, he quickly thought of something to disable the fate that Chinchou was trying to project. 'Well, Magnex doesn't have any earns, so it's more than logically impossible for Supersonic to even phase him, and seeing as he's partially an electric type himself, paralysis wasn't exactly something to worry about... Magnex saw that his trainer was tensed up in thinking. Releasing his thoughts, Neo called out to Magnex. "Spin straight through Supersonic! Use the boost from agility to move yourself out of the sound." Neo gulped, he hoped that his pokémon could understand his orders. "After you've made sure that Supersonic is no longer a threat, I want you to absorb that Thunderwave." Magnex blinked as it readied to throw itself straight toward an enemy attack. Its faith was in Neo's reasoning, but it wasn't so sure it wanted to be dependent on its trainer right now. "Using the energy that Thunderwave shoots out, project yourself straight into the Chinchou with a Tackle. Your magnets should make fine electricity absorbers, right?" Magnex blinked the second before it began to move. 'Neo's right...' |
