Jeremy's eyes found the moron in the car, who happened to be rummaging for something. More than likely, it was something that he shouldn't really possess. He barely had any time to process what the guy was looking for before he felt cold metal at his throat; had the girl pulled a knife on him? Perhaps he had calculated all wrong, and this was a conspiracy by them both to rob him...or worse. For a moment, his fears seemed confirmed as the idiot in the car drew a pistol and pointed it at him. At times like this, your life flashes before your eyes...but Jeremy had been through worse than this from Darkrai...all in his head. Anyway, the other kid was stepping out of the car and carefully walking towards him. In what seemed to simultaneously be in both slow and fast motion, the knife left his throat and slashed into the other dude's arm. Dropping the gun, the guy fell and lay there screaming as, undoubtedly, his lifeblood started to appear from his arm. Then, the girl looked at him and said, "We need to get out of here. He's called the police on us because he lost. I'm fed up with him and so we'll need to go now. Are you coming with me?" Personally, Jeremy would be fed up with the other tightwad if he had also been a girl. Even worse, what a loser; who in their right mind called the police just to make up a trumped-up charge from just losing? Then again, the other kid didn't seem to have a right mind. He wouldn't mind going along with the girl to avoid being unfairly arrested on practically nothing, but the knife that the girl had in her possession slightly scared him. Still, he assumed that, if it came to it, standing off against one person would be better than facing the whole police squad. Nodding at her question, he ran after her, recalling Ridge as he did so. Hopefully, the razor-wielding princess had an idea of what to do, because he was pretty well stumped by now. |

Honestly, I think it would've been better to stay and wait for the cops. You could have stayed out of this whole conflict and just got away free, but now you were on the run from the law. Which was better? I'd say the former. But you decided to run and now we need to see what happens. The two of you headed back towards Wayford City. As you ran, the girl explained who she was. She was the daughter of an ambassador from Kanto which wanted to support Wayford in the potential conflict. However, the Wayford mayor's son wouldn't stop pursuing her, so she eventually decided to go on a drive with him. They had just left the city when they met you, but she claimed that the five minutes in the car with him was bad enough. So, to spite him and his pursuing him, she had come to you, but also, you were her kind of man. You were strong in Pokémon battles, mind, and body. So after her explaining her situation and complaining about it, then flattering you, the two of you reentered Wayford. You came to a large house and the girl informed you that this was the house Wayford's government had given to her and her father. Now she motioned for you to go in before her. You could either stick with the insanely powerful yet insanely crazy girl and maybe find some answers to things. Or you could just run like hell and get out of this crazy conflict. Temptations are high and the world is opening itself to you. What will you do? |

Despite everything that Jeremy had been taught, he had run off from the law. Yes, that was bad, but going to jail for some trumped-up charge was worse in his book. Sure, like he was up to moldering away in a cell for twenty years. He definitely had better things to do than to spend half of his life in prison. Like finding where he had come from, for instance. He said nothing as they ran off, merely nodding as he listened to the girl's story, trying to conserve his breath for running. She was a maniac, yes, but a smart one at that. Her father sounded equally as powerful, so maybe he could've avoided trouble with the cops. But still...maybe she didn't have as much authority since she was foreign. Heck, he was foreign...but still, the girl didn't look half bad.... Focus Jeremy, you're not here to spend your life with girls, he scolded inwardly, trying to soothe his burning lungs. Soon, the girl led him to her temporary home, and he did feel safe for the time being. The idiot probably couldn't remember half of his appearance, and anyway, his given name had been completely false. It was probably wise to lay low for a bit, though. Stepping into the place, the general smells of a wealthy person reached his nose, most of which he didn't really recognize at first. Perhaps his mind could fathom that soon...but for now, he was content just to be safe. Speaking of which, maybe this girl would know something about his past, or, since her father was an ambassador of sorts, she would recognize the thing on his arm. Casually, he slid the sleeve of his left shoulder up some while pretending to swipe at an itch on his neck. The tattoo was somewhat visible, so hopefully the girl would wonder about it and ask. If not, well, he'd come to that bridge when it came. He was a guest in her home, so he didn't want to intrude by barging into any of the rooms without her guidance. That was the polite thing to do, after all. |

((Sorry it took me so long. I've had the time, but not the drive. Work is a bitch and I've got problems dealing with my ex.)) So, you decided to enter the crazy girl's house? Considering that she saved your life, I'd say it wasn't too awful of an idea. But, I wouldn't get too comfortable. I mean, what happens when her dad finds out that she brought a random kid home? For all he knew you could be a dangerous criminal because the cops were after you. Did you trust that girl and that she'd tell the truth to her family? Well, too late for that. You swiped at your neck when the girl was looking and she noticed the tattoo. "Ooo. What's that? Looks like a Marrowak. Why'd you get a tattoo of Marowak on your arm? If I were you, I'd get a cooler Pokémon like Charizard." Seems like you're plan went awry, she had no idea what it was. But, well, if you told her a story, she might still know where to look. But before you begin the long confusing story that is your past, maybe you should deal with this. Looking at a clock on the wall, the girl gasped. "My daddy's gonna be home in 15 minutes. I'm not supposed to have any guests. Oh, what I going to do? I completely forgot." She began to run around in circles and seemed to be in a complete panic. Might be wise to fix that problem before you get in a LOT of trouble. |

(No problem) When the girl had gotten a glimpse of his tattoo, Jeremy could immediately tell by her reaction that she had no clue about it. He hadn't really expected her to know, but it was a slight let-down all the same. He had no clue how to remove such a thing, and he didn't even know if it could be removed. Perhaps if he told her his life's story...well, not the whole story, just the significant parts that involved the tattoo. Before he could say anything, however, the girl looked at a nearby clock and started to panic. "My daddy's gonna be home in 15 minutes. I'm not supposed to have any guests. Oh, what I going to do? I completely forgot." Then she completely lost it and started running around in circles like a maniac. On a weirdness scale of one to ten, this definitely hit a seven. Jeremy assumed that he should take control, even though he had no clue how to navigate the house. "Look," he said, trying to get through her panic fit. "Why don't you...I dunno...hide me or something? Isn't there a place in this house that's well-concealed, and that your dad won't go to or can't get to easily?" He didn't exactly live here, and he assumed that the girl knew more about the house than he did. All the same, if she kept up with her panic attack, he was ready to bolt and throw caution to the winds at any moment. How quaint, he was a wanted man. This was definitely NOT something that he had bargained for. He had three magnificent Pokémon to back him up, but one was a weaker baby who he'd prefer not to get in trouble. He didn't want to be a bad influence, after all. Another Pokémon would be nice, although he didn't exactly have enough time to go looking for one. His fate was to the gods now. |

((Damn. I'm so sorry this took so long. Time is really not my best friend these days.)) Well, taking control was the right thing to do. When you spoke to her, it seemed like nothing happened. She continued to run around in absolute panic, flailing her arms, and looking like a moron. Soon, she started to act crazy by muttering to herself and giggling at that, too. This went on for about five minutes before she stopped. She continued muttering to herself and giggled one more time. Then, she turned and looked at you with a creepy glint in her eye. This was going to be fun for you. She took your hand and dragged you to the door, and the two of you left the house. She told you to hide in the hedges surrounding the house. The girl reached into her purse and pulled out a cellphone. Why she didn't do that before, I don't know. She dialed a number and held it to her ear. She began speaking and you heard half of a conversation. "Hey, Daddy...Yeah, everything's fine....I met someone today, and he needs a place to stay for the night... ..... .....I know, but I forgot....Okay. Thanks Daddy....Bye." She hung up the phone and motioned for you to come out of the hedge. She explained to you that you were going to stay here for the night to keep your cover. Plus, by morning, you wouldn't be on the run from the police anymore. "So," she said. "Before my dad gets here, maybe we should start over. My name is Clarisse. I told you about me and myself. What about you?" She stuck out her hand to shake. |

(No problem, I've also been busy. Do you still want this?) ...Okay, trying to talk some sense into her hadn't exactly gone that well. Regardless of what Jeremy had said to her, she still continued to run around like a loon. Occasionally she'd mutter something incoherent to herself and giggle like a moron. This was making Jeremy more uneasy by the minute, and he was about ready to just leave and try to get to Tohea again. Even though she was nice (sort of), she was making him feel extremely uncomfortable. He hadn't exactly marked her as a crazy person at first, but she was pushing the line with this behavior. He was about to politely excuse himself when she turned to him with a strange, almost mad glint in her eyes. Resisting the urge to ask whether she had Multiple Personality Disorder, he pretended to ignore the strangeness in the glare. Quite before he could gather himself, she took him by the hand and dragged him outside. Telling him to hide in the hedge surrounding the house, the girl then took out a cellphone from her purse and dialed a number as he obliged to her instructions. Needless to say, he heard half of the following conversation. "Hey, Daddy...Yeah, everything's fine....I met someone today, and he needs a place to stay for the night... ..... .....I know, but I forgot....Okay. Thanks Daddy....Bye." Well, it sounded like she had secured something, at any rate. She then went on to explain that he could stay here for the night. Well, that was one problem off of his mind, at the least. That, and he probably wouldn't have to worry about the police anymore. "So," she started. "Before my dad gets here, maybe we should start over. My name is Clarisse. I told you about me and myself. What about you?" Well, this was a certain change of events. One minute she was acting all psycho, the next minute she was calm. Trying to overlook this, Jeremy decided to explain himself. "I'm Jeremy," he said with a smile, returning her handshake. "Jeremy Goldwen. You definitely know that I'm a trainer, and I suppose my main purpose is to become a powerful one. You see..." Okay, now it was time to let on a bit about what he was really looking for. "I'm looking for someone, like maybe a group or a person who uses this symbol." Brandishing his lovely little Marowak skull tattoo again in her full view, he added, "I'm trying to find where I really came from. I have a foster family, but I'm not related to them by blood." For the most part, he was dreading a bad reaction from her. Hopefully she didn't think that he was some sort of convict. |

(Alright. I'm still gonna do this.) The girl in front of you looked at you quizzically and said, "I didn't know what it was before, but then I was kinda just about to panic." She smiled a beautiful smile that made you wonder what you were doing. It made you think of...things I'm not supposed to talk about with children here. Anyways, she continued despite your teenage emotions. "But my daddy used to work with gangs and troubled kids before he was an ambassador. Maybe he'll be able to help. But promise me you'll keep that to yourself for a little while?" She smiled at you with a pleading face that made it nigh impossible to refuse. After listening to your answer, she shrugged and and changed the subject. "What did you like to do as a kid?" Looks like she's trying to get a little closer to you. Maybe that act in the forest wasn't so much of an act as real attraction. Of course, now that has to be backed up by attraction to the spirit. So, were you willing to go on with this little party. You have a few minutes before her dad comes home. It might be nice to get to know her in the meantime. As she asked you about yourself with a continuous stream of questions: your favorite color, your favorite Pokémon, etc, she moved close enough to you that she could wrap her arm around your waist and hold you tight. From her end, it looks like there was some real attraction going on. Did you feel the same? (Make up any questions from her to you and vice versa. I'll respond in turn and then daddy comes home at the end.) One other thing: Ridge GAINED 48 :exp! Ridge GREW TO LEVEL 3! Ridge HAS 28 REMAINING!Ridge LEARNED SAND-ATTACK! |

(Works) At Clarisse's words, Jeremy realized that perhaps she did know something about the symbol. Hmm...it would be very interesting to learn as much as he could about the symbol on his arm and, maybe, wherever it had come from. Maybe she was the one that would help him through this mess. She had already done a lot for him already, and to think that this had begun with a snobbish brat who was stupider than a troll. "Don't worry, I won't say anything," Jeremy said, smiling as she commented about what her dad used to do. Normally the good little boy in him would report the guy straight off, but he didn't have any proof and, anyway, the girl and her dad were practically saving his butt for the time being. By how she was behaving, though, maybe that act on Route 2 hadn't been acting at all...A funny fluttering feeling in his throat caught him by surprise, and he realized that maybe he did like her...But that was for later. He had more important stuff to worry about now. "Well, I don't really have a favorite Pokémon, although I'm fond of dragon and dark types," he said, trying to answer her stream of questions. "My childhood wasn't bad at all. My favorite color's blue, I've never dated before, I'm almost seventeen...." On and on he answered her questions, sensing full well that she wanted to know him better for more reasons than one. He felt some attraction to her, but her mentality scared her a bit. She didn't exactly handle tough situations very well...and she had creeped him out a bit earlier. "So...how was your childhood?" Jeremy finally ventured when he was finished answering her tirade of stuff. "Do you even own any Pokémon? And...I suppose I should ask what your favorite one is, what your favorite color is, and so forth." He wasn't about to ask her what it was like to be rich, as that would sound rather rude. His family hadn't ever been dirt-poor, but they weren't exactly wealthy either. He wondered what riches were like from another's perspective. Jeremy knew money wasn't everything, but it was still intriguing to learn about "the other side" so to speak. |

Clarisse answered your questions calmly. She claimed that her favorite Pokémon was Dragonite. Her favorite color was orange. She had a Dratini up in her room. She kept answering all of your questions, but it was blatantly obvious that she was avoiding one of the questions. She said that she was going to be 18 in three days, and that she was going to have a big party. A lot of important people would be there. She didn't say it, but it was obvious that she was implying that someone might know about his tattoo. Still, the one question she was avoiding really bothered you. It seemed that she wasn't going to talk about her childhood very readily. Maybe there was more to her childhood than was previously explained. She took a deep breath and seemed to be working up the courage to tell you what she wanted, but at that moment, a limo drove into the driveway stopped so that the passenger door was right next to you and Clarisse. It sat there for a few long moments, and Clarisse looked nervous. She lashed out and grabbed your hand instinctively. After a while, a tall, lanky man stepped out of the driver's seat. He walked around the hood of the car and opened the door that was right next to you. Looks like its time to meet Daddy, eh? The door opened up and a tall, powerfully built man stepped out of the car. He towered over you, standing at least 6'4 and weighing in at 250 pounds of sheer muscle. I think you might have reason to fear Clarisse's dad. Wait. Someone else is exiting the car. Seems like that man isn't her dad, just his bodyguard. The girl's father was actually just about the same height as you. In fact, he looked remarkably like you. There were obvious differences, like the colors of your hair and the colors of your eyes. But still the resemblance was remarkable. The man came over to you and said in a powerful voice that belied his stature, "Hello there, boy. You must be the boy my girl was talking about. What's your name?" If you were to glance over at Clarisse, her face was racked with surprise at how similar the two of you looked. |

Jeremy merely nodded as Clarisse spilled her guts to her. (figuratively) Her favorite Pokémon was apparently Dragonite, had a Dratini up in her room, and she loved the color orange. However, he couldn't help but sense that she seemed to be dogging around talking about her childhood. This left him fairly curious, but he wasn't about to be rude and egg her on about it; mainly because her half-kindness and spunkiness was getting him somewhere in his quest. She seemed to be implying that the party she was holding in a couple of days for her eighteenth birthday would yield some results of his tattoo's origins from one of the guests. It may be false hope, but it was better than nothing. Then he noticed that she took a deep breath and was about to tell him something, but a limo appearing in the driveway interrupted her. Jeremy felt his breath catch in his throat slightly, and he knew that this meant that her father was home. He hoped the guy wouldn't be too imposing....Still, he was going to suck it up and take whatever fate and luck gave him. He even noticed that Clarisse took his hand in a protective manner, so he knew that perhaps she shared similar thoughts. Maybe this was a sort of warning bell about her dad? Jeremy's breath seemed to catch in his throat as he saw the lanky driver leave his seat. The guy then walked to the door that was in front of Jeremy and opened it with little fanfare. A powerfully-built guy that must've worked out a t least ten times a week stepped out of the car, and for a moment Jeremy thought that this was Clarisse's father. He was proven wrong, however, as her actual dad exited the car behind who he now assumed was a sort of bodyguard. However, his shock didn't fully register until he noticed that this guy looked a lot like him. He was the same height as he, and except for the hair color and eyes, they sort of looked alike. How's that for creepy? Oddly enough, he could sense that Clarisse was reacting in nearly the same way. "Hello there, boy. You must be the boy my girl was talking about. What's your name?" the man asked him in a voice that well suited his status. It was the sort of voice that wouldn't allow miscreants, he assumed. Hopefully this guy didn't think that he was hitting on Clarisse. "My name's Jeremy Goldwen," he replied politely, bowing a little out of respect. "I'm a Pokémon trainer that's recently traveled to this wonderful region." Hopefully he sounded formal enough...He was starting to feel slightly sweaty already. OOC: Like where I'm going? xD (So many awkward situations...;))Sorry it takes so long, but 3 AP's + college = no time at all. If you want, you can request other people. It will likely take me about a week to get each ref done (well, 10 mins every week) "Jeremy, eh? Well, come on in." He threw his arm over your shoulder and walked you right into the house. Clarisse followed you timidly, having reluctantly given up your hand as he led you into the house. The bodyguard seemed to vanish into thin air, which was odd because of his massive size. Anyways, you went into the house with your strange look-alike and your possible girlfriend (?) close behind. Inside the house, he introduced himself to you as Kevin Gunther. He was ambassador from the Kanto government. He was in town to discuss the possiblility of a war on the Tohean Islands. "You aren't really supposed to know about that kind of thing, but no harm done, right?" His tone became threatening as he said that, forcing you to remember that such a topic was not to be made into small talk in any way. Then, Mr. Gunther took you into a dimly lit room. He said, "I always figured that a Pokémon battle is the best way to judge character. Do you agree? Ah, who cares. Let's see how well you do battling my daughter." He turned to look for Clarisse, but no one was there. Suddenly, the lights came on and Clarisse stood on the other side with an UltraBall in hand. Looks like Clarisse wanted to fight you pretty badly. Maybe she wanted to test you herself. She threw the ball onto the ground, saying, "GO DRAGON!" The ball exploded in red light and in place of the light, a small snake appeared, namely that Dratini Clarisse had told you about. Level 11"Are you ready, Jememy?" called Mr. Gunther. "Begin!" He looked really excited. You had better give him a show. Go to it. (Good luck.) |

(I'll consult Shad about it) Jeremy held his breath slightly as he followed Clarisse and her dad. His mind was, in fact, still spinning from his recent encounter with her dad. How could they look so much alike?...He had at least two theories, but he hoped that one of them was very wrong. Mainly because he liked Clarisse, of course. He was highly doubtful that Clarisse's dad was his own father, but still...the chance still remained. Hopefully the circumstances were beyond something that his calculating mind could project. Once inside, Clarisse's dad introduced himself. He was Kevin Gunther, an ambassador from Kanto trying to discuss the possibilities of war among the Tohean islands. Of course, Jeremy had heard such rumors before coming to the region, but the only hostility of any sort that he had found had been from Mr. Genius a few hours before...and he wasn't exactly a bright egg. "You aren't really supposed to know about that kind of thing, but no harm done, right?" His tone seemed somewhat threatening as he inserted this, but Jeremy had no intentions of breaking this sort of thing out to the public...so he kept his silence with a nod. Following Mr. Gunther into a dimly lit room, the man said, "I always figured that a Pokémon battle is the best way to judge character. Do you agree? Ah, who cares. Let's see how well you do battling my daughter." Personally, Jeremy agreed, but he felt that there were other ways to show such a thing. Meh, no matter...wait, where did Clarisse go? Suddenly, the lights came on and Clarisse stood on the other end of the room with an Ultra Ball within her grasp. Being a gentleman, Jeremy would rather battle her father than a lady, but who was he to refuse the invitation? It would be impolite to not battle, and he didn't want to be made out as a coward. Besides, he was itching to battle.... "GO DRAGON!" Clarisse yelled, throwing the Ultra Ball to reveal her Dratini that she had spoken of earlier. Jeremy could think of better names for it, but he kept his mouth shut as it wasn't his Pokémon. Besides, a lot of people named their Pokémon odd names. Who was he to complain about something as simple as a nickname? "Are you ready, Jememy?" called Mr. Gunther from the sidelines. "Begin!" Oddly enough, the guy seemed excited...maybe Clarisse was a crackerjack battler. Well, there was only one way to find out....He'd have to test her himself. Going through his options, he decided which of his Pokémon was best for the job. "Exo, you're up!" he exclaimed, releasing the Aron in a burst of light. "Start off with an Agility to raise your speed, and then when you find an opening, unseat it with a Tackle. Try to keep away from any crippling or offensive moves as you go." That was all he had to offer for now. He stood expectantly, wondering how this little strategy would play out. |

(Sorry if I am like... off on this ref, didn't really have a chance to read back very far.) Looks like there is a semi Love-Hate relationship here? Maybe? Maybe Not? Would this be what triggers a war in Tohea? Some girl who happens to lose -or win- against you, deciding that the other Tohean's are weak and deciding to engage in mortal combat?! Okay, so maybe I'm being over-dramatic... but a kid can dream... right? As you released Exo onto the field against Clarisse's Dratini -the one with a horribly unoriginal name- you watched her eyes as they looked at Exo's hard skeletal structure. Though, as she heard you command your iron rat to actually do something, she immediately got serious once again and pointed outwards towards Exo. "Dragon, hurry and charge up #13, then follow up with Twister" She hurriedly commanded as she watched Exo dart off with his first move, Agility. As Exo moved left to right across the room -occasionally slipping on the slippery floors- Clarisse followed him perfectly with her eyes, only taking a glance here-and-there to Dragon in order to see how his attack was progressing. Dragon was creating a small, light-bluish White orb in the small area around its mouth, calling his names in a low chant-like as he too tracked Exo's movements with his head bowed. Once he noticed Exo's immediate alteration in direction, and charge for him though, Dragon immediately released the orb of blue energy. As the orb flew towards Exo, the iron mouse thing hurriedly moved himself out of the way with seconds to spare as the orb hit the ground beside him a good two yards away. Feeling comfident that he'd successfully avoided the attack, Exo continued on towards Dragon with his enhanced speed as he ATTEMPTED to pull away towards the Dratini, only to find his legs immobile! As you and Exo looked to see what had caused the immobilization you both noted that Exo's hind-legs had been encased in a thick, elivated chunk of ice. Both of you looked to see where the ice had come from, but before either of you could get a proper answer Exo was knocked back through the air -his legs now unstuck- by a powerful burst of spinning air, also known as TWISTER! Maybe there was more to this girl than you expected, aye? Lv. 7 29/39 91%[[Speed +2]] Lv. 11 47/47 84%

OOC: Educate yourself more in your spare time. =P Anyway, someone needs to introduce my Magby soon. Damn! That was a little unexpected..., Jeremy thought privately to himself. It wasn't that he didn't think that Clarisse was any good, it was just that he hadn't expected that much from a Dratini. Obviously a TM move was involved for it to use Ice Beam. That definitely didn't do Exo any favors...especially when he looked at the rock/steel type that made up his little guy's exterior. Yet, he wouldn't allow this to unseat him already. After all, weren't things always ever-changing and altering in battle? He had to adjust himself to surprising situations. "Shake it off buddy! I know you can do it!" he said to Exo encouragingly, smiling as he did so. Turning to Clarisse, he said nicely, "Nice opening move. I honestly wasn't expecting anything like that. But if you expect me to lie on the floor with you, you have another thing coming." He would have to do something about Exo's back legs...but what? Agility would no longer be effective with frozen legs...Hmm...Wait, ice was slick, and the floor was made of tiling, so....Suddenly, that gave Jeremy a decent idea. "Exo, I know that your legs are frozen, but use the ice to your advantage. Using your front legs, propel yourself around a little bit. Try getting used to it while dodging anything that's thrown at you. Once you think you're used to it, use any speed that you build up to move towards your opponent with an enhanced Tackle. Once that's done, use Harden to raise your defense for more powerful blows in the future," Jeremy finished, hoping that the little guy understood everything. Usually his orders weren't as long...or complicated. Basically, he was working with what he had here. Excalibur burped a reply before preparing himself. This ranked pretty high on the craziness scale, but he couldn't help but appreciate his resourcefulness. OOC: If I find out Exo is also cemented to the floor, I will KEEL you....<_< |
