As Jeremy spoke, he couldn't help but notice that Alexander seemed spellbound by his Pidoo. Well, it was pretty rare, after all; despite his studies, Jeremy had never heard of such a Pokémon. In fact, Alexander was so spellbound that...ew...his full mouth was hanging open a little. He hated it when people did that, but he wasn't about to berate the other kid about it. Jeremy's ears perked up when Alex started to speak of his other Pokémon. So, he had a Charmander named Dragon and a Munchlax named Big Blue. Both sounded like intriguing Pokémon, but Alexander then caught him off-guard by offering a trade for Valor. At this, Jeremy nearly spit out his milk. As it was, he had a hard time swallowing it and almost choked. Sure, he'd like a Charmander, at least, but he had worked hard to catch Valor. Thinking of trading his new Pokémon was almost unbearable...but then again, Valor barely knew him. Would it be that mind-scarring? Finally, he made a decision. "I appreciate your offer Alexander, and it sounds tempting," he started, pretending to keep his cool by taking another gulp of milk. "But I'd prefer to keep Valor. He was pretty difficult to catch, and I think he's already taken a liking to me." At this, Valor's eyes made a ^ ^ as he said "Pidoo...". Exo, however, was pretty well oblivious to the situation as he just gorged himself on more bacon. Jeremy waited to see how Alexander would react. Hopefully, the kid was a good sport and would understand the situation. |

Way to go. That poor kid really was spellbound by the Pidoo. He had already had fantasies about showing off to his friends how he now had this really rare and awesome Pokémon. Your refusal just dashed all of those into the dirt. His eyes showed great disappointment in your refusal and he stood up to leave. "Well, thanks anyways. I guess I tried, right? You can't..." At this point, Alexander was just about to walk away, but he collapsed back into his seat, and putting his arms on the table and his head on them, he began to shake. Was he laughing or crying? You couldn't really tell at this point, but from the circumstances, it was probably crying. His voice muffled by his arms, he said something like, "I just...new Pokémon....know? Friends...make fun...lame Pokémon...." Here, he stopped talking all together and it was perfectly audible now that he was crying. Now, I don't know about you, but his Pokémon were pretty cool. However, Alex didn't think so. And his crying was beginning to draw stares because no matter how much they deny it, everyone is nosy. So, you now have a crying kid on your hands. Kids aren't your luck these days are they? |

Jeremy's mind went numb with shock. He hadn't expected the kid to start crying, of all things. Until now, he had kept his cool fairly well. Even Exo and Valor were staring at Alexander with shocked expressions on their faces. And, to Jeremy's dismay, he could also sense the stares of some people. "Look," he stated simply, trying to gently get Alex's attention. "I don't think your Pokémon are lame. Most of them are actually pretty rare, from what I've seen and studied. I mean, you have two fire type starters, of all things. Don't you know how hard it was for me to refuse that trade? It's just that I can't part with Valor." He even tried patting the kid's arm for comfort, and to get rid of some of the stares, Jeremy recalled his own Pokémon. (They had finished eating anyway) Still, he wished that the other people around him wouldn't be so nosy. It wasn't like he could sprout wings and block the other kid from view. "Your Pokémon aren't lame," Jeremy consoled. "If anything, your friends are probably saying that because they're jealous." He didn't know that fact for sure, but it made some sense. |

He continued crying on the table as you spoke to him, and soon enough he sniffed as he tried to hold back tears. Hearing your last statement, about his friends being jealous, he shook his head. "Nu uh! They all have evolved Pokémon! Or really rare Pokémon from this region!" He whined and started crying again. Curling up into a ball in his seat, sitting in the fetal position rocking back and forth while tears stained his jeans, you couldn't help but feel bad for this kid. People continued to stare at you, but some then noticed the kids face and rolled their eyes as they walked away. He looked back up to you and you could see his now red eyes as tears continued to stream down his face like waterfalls as he continued to cry. Okay, this was just getting pathetic, a No was a No right? What part of it was so hard to understand? Little did you know that their was something this kid had yet to tell you, something that he had been keeping a secret since the moment he saw you the night before. |

(WHY must you let this drag on?... -_-' ) "Well...," Jeremy was at a loss here; he was trying to cheer the kid up, but he was just making things worse. Why did this always happen to him? "They may have evolved Pokémon, but size, rarity, and evolution aren't everything. All of it depends on how well you train your Pokémon, how kind you are to it, whether or not it wants to evolve, etc." He hated going all technical, and he sensed that this kid was probably hiding something else. Yet, it wasn't his place to start inquiring about anything. The stares that were coming in their direction was embarrassing Jeremy, but he couldn't do anything about them. Really, this situation had been blown out of control. Whatever happened to the justice of polite refusals? Apparently, they wouldn't work as well in this region. Considering what he had come here for, he hadn't been expecting peaches and cream. But this...was just plain ridiculous. Clutching the spot on his shoulder where the Marowak tattoo was located for a moment, he reminded himself of his true quest: to find out who had given him that permanent mark of darkness, and if that person or persons had any connection to his real family. Still, Pokémon training was an important part of it. "Calm down," Jeremy consoled, lowering his voice and trying to sound calm and controlled. "It's probably not as bad as you think." Could this kid have a worse family puzzle than he did? |

Alex looked up at you, his eyes no longer teary, nor did they appear the same light brown from before. With a mischeivous grin, all time stopped as Alexander continued to grin towards you. "Well then..." He said darkly as he stood up from where he was sitting, his hair becoming very long and white as it trailed behind him as if a fan were blowing on it. "I guess... I'll have to take you away..." He stated before suddenly the two of you were enveloped in darkness, and Alexander's childish form began shifting. Soon, the necklace he wore around his neck became much thicker, and his eyes started shining blue. His dark clothing started to tear apart, trailing to his sides, like his hair had been doing. "Too bad, you could've saved yourself." He said before suddenly his skin burned off and there stood/hovered a being that could only be known by one name. "DARKRAI!" Lv. 66 :genderlessSuddenly, the darkness that surrounded the two of you expanded as you found yourself in a pitch black area. "Welcome..." Darkrai chanted as he appeared beside you, "To" He continued appearing to your other side now. "The NOTHINGNESS!" He said as he appeared before you and vanished once more as he called forth a city forged of darkness, the buildings all made of black material, and the people simply faceless shadows. "See, if you would've just traded with me so that Girantina, Dialga, and Palkia would stop messing with me, you might have been safe!" You heard Darkrai's voice as a shadow of a Pokémon appeared before you, "BUT NO! That wasn't the case now, WAS IT?!" He cried as the shadow expanded to a much larger form. Suddenly, Alex sat up and began speaking. "Well then...I guess...I'll have to take you away..." A creepy look came into his eyes, and Jeremy merely stared at the kid as he began shapeshifting. The kid's hair became white and lengthened, slowly reforming into the shape and being of...Darkrai. The being that was supposedly a myth. "You've got to be kidding me..." Jeremy's voice trailed off. Darkness had surrounded both of them, blocking out everything from the crowded Center cafeteria. Where had his Pokémon gone? Jeremy didn't really have time to think about that much; it was obvious that Darkrai was taking him somewhere... "Too bad, you could've saved yourself. Welcome...To...the Nothingness!" With those cryptic words, the darkness around them expanded to form a strange place of shadows. A city made from darkness slowly materialized, its civilians human-shaped; yet, these "people" were merely faceless shadows drifting in the nothingness. "See, if you would've just traded with me so that Girantina, Dialga, and Palkia would stop messing with me, you might have been safe!" the Darkrai hissed, as a shadowed form appeared in front of Jeremy. "BUT NO! That wasn't the case now, WAS IT?!" With those words, the shadow expanded and materialized into a giant, shadowed Eevee. Naturally, Jeremy was very confused by this point. His world had just been turned upside-down. "What do you want with me? What purpose? Why do you want Valor?! How can he stop the three dragons from 'messing' with you?" he had yelled this out into the Nothingness, wondering if Darkrai could hear. Giving up on yelling for the dark dream-maker, he turned his attention to the Eevee. There was no way that he could battle a thing this powerful and come out on top. Trying to catch it would no doubt prove useless and make his situation worse. Then again, how did he know that this Eevee was actually real? Maybe it was all just a dream...After all, Darkrai could evoke dreams. Either way, all of his options seemed to point to one thing: Jeremy was going to die. "I see this is what they mean by 'staring death in the face'," he stated, turning his form to face the monstrous Eevee. "Yet, if it is indeed my time, then I'll go." Clasping his tattooed Marowak skull in his hand, he realized that he may never find the origins of it. Staring boldly at his furry foe and wondering what it would do, he realized with a slight pang that maybe this was it. Instead of answers, he now had more questions. A lot more. |

In the background you could hear Darkrai laughing at you, but the only thing he said now was something you would've rather not heard. "Oh Valor! Come here!" He called, his voice echoing in the nothingness as Valor escaped his pokeball and floated upwards into the air where Darkrai's form soon reappeared. "Oh, look what I have here." He said as he put one hand on Valor's head, and started using one of his attacks on the Pokémon, an attack that he shouldn't have known. "Dark Pulse," He said as energy poured around Valor in a spherical shape. The little pin cushion didn't cry, nor did he even try to escape as he remained in the darkness of the attack, which he soon absorbed into his body. Causing a war between the Ghostly-energy of Pidoo, and the Psychic-energy, it'd be upto Pidoo which one he would fully waste, so that the other could fully take control. "Pidoooo..." The Pokémon said as he went up ahead of you once more, floating between you and Eevee. "Now Pidoo, show her my power." Darkrai instructed as Pidoo gave a silent nod. "Piii..." He started charging up an attack in his needle, causing it to glow a radiant purple for a while, making it difficult to predict which attack would be released. "DOOOOOOOOOOO!" His cry came out like the sound of a bell being rung off the highest belltower in the world while the confusion burst out like a hyper beam from a Groudon as it quickly crashed into the Eevee and tore the Pokémon to shreds, causing the Pokémon to exert every last bit of psychic energy in its body, converting to the ghost-type he was meant to be. Pidoo then hovered back over to its trainer, but oddly enough, it wasn't you. "Good job, Valor." He said as he placed a hand on Valor's head, watching as the Pokémon quickly evolved not once, but TWICE. "Pi..." He started before his words changed mid-name.. "Adooo.." He stated, as a being stood where Pidoo once was, but was then replaced by another Pokémon. "VOODOOM!" The Pokémon called angrily as if it had been called to clean up trash off the side of the road. "Good Valor," He said as he pet the Voodoom. :voodoom Lv. 40 :typeghost "Now for Exo!" Darkrai called angrily as he pointed his hands out towards you, telling Valor to finish you and take Exo with one powerful swoop. With a nod, Voodoom started to glow brightly for a moment with Metronome until his body was shrouded in pure ghostly energy. "VOOOODOOOOOM!" The Pokémon called as it darted forth, and vanished for a moment while it became pure shadow, then reappeared behind you, as you soon felt a powerful pain in your body, worse then anything you had ever felt before. "SHADOW FORCE!" Voodoom cried aloud, although you hadn't known the Pokémon could speak. He looked back to you, to see if the attack had caused you as much pain as he had intended it to. Jeremy watched as Darkrai summoned his little Pidoo, turning the poor thing into a hideous monster. His mind numbing, he watched as the legendary used Dark Pulse on the little pincushion, who then floated up to the Eevee. With an almighty cry, the Pidoo obliterated the thing in an instant. Strange. Then, Darkrai congratulated the Pokémon and placed its hand on the Pidoo's head, causing it not to evolve once, but twice into...Voodoom, or whatever it now was. Everything now felt so far away...That thing couldn't be Valor, it couldn't...But in this world, what was, and what wasn't? Then, the Voodoom's arms started moving in a familiar pattern that Jeremy recognized as Metronome...He had seen it before, but it had been a taped video recording on the computer; this, however, was the real deal. The Voodoom's body was then shrouded with a ghostly black energy, darted forward, and then vanished...Where had it gone? Jeremy's question was answered as a sudden, unconceivable pain hit his body as the Voodoom appeared behind him. Doubling over, Jeremy gasped for breath as his insides were burning, crawling, wanting a sustenance that could ease the pain...This couldn't be. Yet, he refused to die now. Not when events had turned like this on him. Trying to pass through the agonies that his body was now experiencing, Jeremy slowly tried to work himself to his feet. Whether or not he would make it, he wouldn't know...after all, he was teetering on the brink of unconsciousness. Through his blurring vision, he caught sight of Exo releasing himself from his Pokeball, obviously having heard all of the commotion. With a small burp, the Aron stood by him, vigilant to the very end; they would go through this together. All of this may seem foolish, but yet, these two would stand together in the face of death. |

Darkrai looked unamused as he floated ahead of you, Pidoo behind you restingl on one knee after using Shadow Force to attack you. And as you fell over, Darkrai took a wicked liking to the energy he was slowly draining you of in this world of nothingness. "Voodoom, let's go, we need not waste time on him any longer." Darkrai said before turning his 'back' and floating off into the darkness. Voodoom looked at you, saddened to an extent for reasons unknown, and then looked up at Darkrai and floated up towards the Pokémon looking back at your constantly. "Voo.." He whispered as if blessing you for an odd reason. As Voodoom, Valor, floated over to Darkrai, you stood up weakly, and allowed Exo to escape his pokeball. The sound was enough to ring in Darkrai's 'ears' and caused the pitch-dark Pokémon to turn around to see what it was all about. He noticed you were standing now, and your Aron was beside you, and something instantly came to Darkrai and Voodoom's minds. Ignoring its thoughts, Darkrai quickly lunged towards the two of you as he focused a powerful ghostly-energy into his 'hands' as the energy forged itself into a powerful lance. "NIGHT SH---" Darkrai was about to call out his attack as he was only a few meters away from striking you with his lance, before Voodoom appeared to defend you. "NIGHT SHADE!" The Pokémon called as it released a powerful Night Shade attack in the form of a shield, to protect you from Darkrai's attack. The shield held for a few moments that you used to regain some stamina, but soon enough it broke to the power of Darkrai, who ended up using the attack on Voodoom to completely obliterate the being. Darkrai, disgusted by Voodoom's betrayel yo him, turned back to you and Exo as he readied another lance in his 'hand.' Dashing forward once more, he came towards you with all his might, only to find Exo jumping before you with a powerful Dragon Rush attack, slamming into the lance with his purple energy formed like wings on his back, a trail behind, and just sheer energy in the front. When the two attacks clashed, it seemed as though they were evenly matched until Exo pushed his new 'wings' slightly in order to keep in the air, only giving Darkrai the chance to quickly go under the little steel dog, and slam the lance into his underbelly as Exo too, was finished. "There is nothing stopping me now." Darkrai said, as he decided to try a different method, focusing a powerful Night Shade into the palm of his hand as a dark energy radiated from the orb that was slowly being formed. "Night Shade!" He called, releasing the attack outwards once more as it flung towards you, and eventually slammed into your chest. Though you were able to stand up to the attack, you found yourself in a great deal of pain as you lost control of your breathing, and your chest was now heavily bleeding from the intensity of the ghostly-energy on your physical being. Falling back once the attack was done, your eyes closed and you were suddenly taken by the gri---- "Hey, wake up." You felt someone pushing at your shoulder as you awoke in the Pokémon center, covered in sweat. Sitting up like lightning, you looked over to see, no Alexander, but a female trainer standing beside your bed. Wait, where were you? Hadn't you just been in the nothingness? About to be dead? "You were talking in your sleep, something about the nothigness." She stated with a quiet yawn, "I figured you were having a nightmare. Though, I only came in a couple of minutes ago, and their was this weird black, red, and white thing hovering over your head. I figured it was just my imagination," She said, before checking the time on the clock on the dresser, to see it was only slightly passed midnight. "Anyways, I'm going to sleep. I'll wake you again if you have another Nightmare." She said before tucking herself into bed, knocking herself out. There you were, sitting in your bed after a nightmare that felt so... real. And didn't she say something about a Black, Red, and White thing hovering over you? Darkrai maybe? As you pondered this though, three things came to mind.
Well, either way, as you layed back down into bed, you felt something blocking your cranium as you set it on your pillow. Grabbing the item though, you noticed it was a regular pokeball and a few other random items. Instead of checking it out now though, you simply went back to sleep, only to see the face of Darkrai for a few moments, before it vanished and you were left to sleep for the night. {You'll need to request me one more time ^^ Feel free to have Jeremy wake up.} Edited by Acubenz, Jun 20 2008, 09:35 AM.

"Voodoom, let's go, we need not waste time on him any longer." Darkrai then turned its back on Jeremy and floated off into the darkness. The Voodoom started to follow, and then looked at Jeremy and seemed to bless him. The sound of Exo releasing himself caused Darkrai to wheel around and face Jeremy again. Angered, Darkrai prepared to use a Night Shade in the form of a lance. Jeremy was almost sure of his death, and he shrank back a little, ready for the end. Suddenly, Voodoom phased in front of him and used its own Night Shade in the form of a shield, defending Jeremy until Darkrai's superior attack shattered the shield and obliterated Valor. "Valor..." Jeremy whispered, tears starting to run down his cheeks. He now realized that the being had been completely possessed. In its final moments, his new Pokémon had saved him. The guy really deserved his name after all. Darkrai prepared another shadow lance, and this time, Exo was ready. Jumping forth with a powerful Dragon Rush, the purple energy forming around Exo created purplish wings on his back. Both attacks clashed and seemed to be matched, but a moment later, Darkrai gained the upper hand. Like Valor, Excalibur had been destroyed. "There is nothing stopping me now." Darkrai said, as he again focused a powerful Night Shade into the palm of his hand as a dark energy radiated from the orb that was slowly being formed. "Night Shade!" This time, Jeremy held his breath and felt the attack impale him in the chest. Falling back in seemingly slow motion, Jeremy felt himself hit the shadowy ground. He wasn't really aware of much. The attack had knocked the breath out of him, and he wasn't sure if he could breathe again. Blood poured from his stomach and pooled at his sides, making his clothes wet with its crimson stain. Jeremy couldn't fight the pain anymore. He couldn't believe he was dying like this... ~~~~~~~~~~~ "Hey, wake up." Jeremy shot up in bed, breathing heavily and covered from head to toe in sweat. Regaining his logic and senses, he found himself back in his bed at the Pokémon Center. What had just happened? Looking up, he saw that a female trainer had shoved him awake. God, he was embarrassed... "You were talking in your sleep, something about the nothigness." She stated with a quiet yawn, "I figured you were having a nightmare. Though, I only came in a couple of minutes ago, and their was this weird black, red, and white thing hovering over your head. I figured it was just my imagination." The girl than yawned and looked at the dresser, and Jeremy followed her gaze. It was just past midnight. "Anyways, I'm going to sleep. I'll wake you again if you have another Nightmare," the girl continued, going over to her respective bed and crawling under the covers. Jeremy merely grunted in response, a little confused at what had just happened. That nightmare had been so realistic...and hadn't the girl described the "thing" over his head as the very colors of Darkrai? He was wondering if this had really happened...Come to think of it, where were Exo and Valor? And had Darkrai really been there and evoked a dream, or was it just a figment of Jeremy's imagination? Lying back down, Jeremy became aware of lying down on some items. Picking up one, he found that it was a Pokeball. Confused, his mind finally allowed him to rest, and he drifted off on a fleecy cloud of sleep, never wanting to wake up. Yet, he could've sworn that he saw Darkrai's face... ~~~~~~~~~ The next morning, Jeremy woke up with a yawn. What had happened in the night hours came rushing back to him, and he bolted up again, looking to see the items on his pillow. He wanted to make sure that they were his, and he wished to see if Exo and Valor were still with him. In just a few short hours, his life felt upside-down. |

Awaking in your bedroom in the Pokémon center, you noticed the female had already up and left. So, when you awoke and looked at the items, you had no reason to worry that she might ask questions. While you looked down at the items that had disrupted you for a few moments the night before, you noticed two things on your pillow, the pokeball on the counter by a digital clock, and a note beside the items on your pillow. Picking up the note, you read it to yourself. Jeremy, For causing you the ache last night, I am giving you three rewards. You are officially guarded by the guardian of darkness, Darkrai. Take care, and I'll see you soon. P.S. You know, your mind is like an open book, I knew exactly what to get you. The note read, and your eyes widened in shock before you then set the note down and looked at the items once again. There was a shining disk on the pillow, with a small peice of paper attached to it with "TM-10" and beside the disk lay a blue-foil wrapped candy. What could be in the pokeball though? As if on cue, the pokeball opened up and out came a small blue dragon you recognized as a Gible. "Gib?" The little dragon said as you noticed it seemed to have just been born recently, because it hadn't even had its teeth fully developed yet. Jeremy's eyes shot open, and he sat up in the bed that he had slept in. The familiar smell of the Center wafted into his nostrils as, suddenly, his experience from the night before hit him like a mallet. Thankfully, the girl was gone, so at least he didn't have to answer any questions or explain stuff...Really, he couldn't explain a few things. Another thought hit him, and he drowsily looked down at his pillow. A wrapped-up blue candy thing was on it, as well as a sort of disk-shaped object labeled "TM-10". On the dresser with the Digital clock sat a Pokeball that he didn't recognize. Also, a note was beside the items on his pillow. Picking it up, he read it. Jeremy, For causing you the ache last night, I am giving you three rewards. You are officially guarded by the guardian of darkness, Darkrai. Take care, and I'll see you soon. P.S. You know, your mind is like an open book, I knew exactly what to get you. Jeremy exhaled, and his eyes widened in surprise. Perhaps that dream had been a test....Either way, it had still been weird. He didn't know what to think of the fact that a legendary was watching over him, although it seemed like a good thing. Maybe all of this had something to do with his tattoo...But he didn't really know. Suddenly, the Pokeball burst open, and a little dragonish baby appeared in the room; Jeremy recognized it at once from his various studies as a Gible. "Gib?" he squeaked, blinking his little eyes cutely. He didn't seem to be very old, and that suited Jeremy just fine. He already knew what he was going to call the little Land Shark: Ridge. But now, what of his Pokémon? The dream had still unnerved him a little, and he immediately hopped up, changed his pajamas into his traveling clothes, carefully stowed away the new items in his bag, and proceeded at once to check his Pokeballs. The whole time, Ridge watched him with interest, wondering what the silly human was doing. |

Grabbing the two pokeballs, they instantly erupted into light as Exo and Valor were now on the bed looking at you confused. Seemed as though they didn't know what was going on though, so it is safe to say they didn't have the same nightmare you did. "Gib..." Ridge said looking at Aron and Pidoo for a moment, as tears came to his eyes from fright. "GIIIIIIBBBBB" The Pokémon started to cry loudly as its tears got all over the sheets. Soon enough though, you heard the little baby Pokémon's stomach growl as it hiccuped and stopped crying as badly, though tears still came randomly. "Gib..." He hiccuped again and started giggling as his stomach growled once more. Soon enough, the hiccuping and stomach growling seemed to become contageous as you heard Exo's stomach growl, and saw Pidoo hiccup. Time for food? And praying that your nightmare wouldn't become reality.[/colo]r |

Jeremy sighed with relief as the familiar, normal forms of Exo and Valor appeared on the bed. They didn't seem any different...Perhaps it had been a sort of testing dream after all? Yet, he was convinced that Darkrai had been there....The legendary had been there, but perhaps the elements of the dream hadn't been. Yet, the sudden appearances of Exo and Valor seemed to startle the Gible, who immediately began to cry. Soon, the baby's stomach even started to growl as he started to hiccup. Oddly enough, Ridge then started giggling as his stomach continued to growl. What a strange baby...but cute as well. Oddly enough, the problems of hiccuping and stomach growling seemed to spread among his Pokémon. After a few moments, Exo's stomach growled, and Valor started to hiccup. The older two blushed a little as this happened, but Jeremy was sure that everyone was hungry by now. "Let's hit the cafeteria, guys," he said with a joyous laugh, the kind that comes out when everything's all right. "This is your new friend Ridge, a Gible. He's pretty young, so you two can serve as older brothers. Gible...Ridge, these two are my other Pokémon. The Aron's name is Excalibur, or Exo, and the Pidoo is Valor." Hopefully, everyone would understand each other by now. Picking up the baby Gible and cuddling it in his arms, Jeremy put on his backpack and walked towards the cafeteria. No doubt that they'd have some decent Pokémon food there, besides the plain Pokémon Food that he hauled in his backpack. At this point, Jeremy's mind started to wander. He would really like to train his new baby as soon as possible, but he didn't want to overexert it as well. Being a near infant, Ridge didn't know hardly any attacks...That would change soon, though. |
