"I do not think there is any thrill that can go through the human heart like that felt by the inventor as he sees some creation of the brain unfolding to success... such emotions make a man forget food, sleep, friends, love, everything." - Nikola Tesla

I noted that the girl seemed to be relatively nice to me after I seemed to wait for a while patiently, or so it must have appeared to her. I smiled back, deciding that I would spare her the pain, but I would still hate her guts. And so I smiled knowing that if she did anything stupid again, I would seriously have to make an example of her. But for now, everything was okay. She showed me to a room with Dr. M. I'll just call him that because I don't care what his name is. Anyways, I didn't bother to sit down in the chair he offered to me. Instead, I opened my jacket and threw the wings onto the desk. "These are why I am here. I managed to kill one of them and I am interested in biology. I figured here would be a good place to have them examined. I found it interesting that the blood dripping from them is blue, unlike that more commonly found on other creatures. If these wings could be examined, it might be the breakthrough of the century. Also, I've noticed that during my travels, the wings have changed pigmentation. However, this is not like Kecleon's because it appears to be dependent on the time of year." After explaining these things, I sat down in the chair and waited. As I did so, I examined my clothes and noted that I would need to get a new jacket because the inside of this one was covered in blue ichor. Sighing, I pulled a Pokeball out of my jacket pocket and let Captain out. I kept him by my side, knowing that he hated confined spaces. Though this office was relatively small, it was better than his Pokeball. I hoped that Dr. M would be interested. If not, I could always blow up the building... |

Dr. Matiglia also stood up upon seeing the wings, and his eyes widened in what appeared to be disbelief. Looking at you, he shook his head, speechless, and quickly went into the room attached to this one you're in now. When he came back, you saw that he had a tray and some paper towels, which he used to pick up the wings. He headed toward the room again, but looked back at you and nodded for you to come with him as well. Obviously he wanted you in the room with him as he examined the wings, probably to ask you a few questions or make sure a few things were right. Anyhow, in the room, he set the tray upon a table that had plenty of tools about it, and he pointed at a chair where you could sit if you chose to do so. "This is amazing," the doctor said. "I never would have thought that I'd actually have something like this to study, now that the Pokémon have been named and considered to be okay for trainers to have. As a matter of fact, they're considered one of a kind and extremely rare, since they seem to have gone away back to their world. This could also lead to a breakthrough in finding out where all of the wild Pokémon have gone to, since they started disappearing about the time they left. Of course that could merely be coincidental, but I tend to disbelieve that anything is a coincidence." When he stopped talking, the whole building shook as a loud thunder rang out, and you heard a downpour begin outside. Dr. Matiglia drew back the curtains, and you could see that the sky was as dark as night, even though it was only three in the afternoon. But that's not all, as you could see very large forms in the sky fighting, appearing to be Pokémon fighting over this very world. Horrified, the doctor drew the blinds again and looked at you with a blank panic, not sure what he should do. Then he rushed over to the phone and started to call people, pushing you out of the room, probably so you couldn't hear everything. He told you to wait just a moment though. After two minutes, he opened the door to his laboratory and pulled you back in, shaking and pacing back and forth. "I'm afraid that something is happening up above us, and nobody can figure out exactly what it is, although right now..." He faded off and you could see the lump in his throat go up and back down as he swallowed. "They're thinking that this could very well be the apocalypse, although I've never thought that it would come like this." Going back to the wings, he sighed. "But I can't let this hamper our discovery here. I'll tell you what, why don't you go out and try to find out what's going on up above or whatever and come back later? But first go to the secretary, I'm going to call her up and tell her to write you out a check. I hope $2,000 is enough for this right now. You'll probably get more later on too." Well... that's quite a bit of money, don't you think, what with people not usually having a lot in Tohea. So will you take it and leave for the time being, or are you going to stay right here? |

I waited as Dr. M explained to me that he was just as interested as I expected. I smiled to myself because this was going to work just as planned. Of course, it should have until everything got all f---ed up. I listened as the 'good' Doctor babbled on and on. When he finished, I began to stand, but I fell back into my chair as the entire building shook and everything went south. First, Dr. M opened the curtains to a pitch black afternoon. It was an interesting sight. As I admired the scene and tried to calculate the uses of it, Dr. M shoved me rudely out of the room and made various phone calls or something like that. I shrugged as I returned a reluctant Captain to his Pokeball. I waited for a few minutes listening to the sound of my breathing. Just as I considered leaving, Dr. M opened the door and spoke to me again. Telling me all about what he had just learned, I wondered why he had bothered to kick me out in the first place. When he mentioned $2,000, I ignored that and just smiled in understanding. $2,000 wasn't a lot, but it wasn't petty change either. I finished listening and nodded to him. I said, "Sir, I would be glad to check out the situation outside. We're both scientific men who want to know what's going on, so I have an interest anyways. Let me go outside and check everything out. Then, I'll be back." After, that, I took my leave. I stopped once to speak with the secretary and receive my $2,000, but after that, I left the building. Upon exiting, I noticed that the world was definitely pitch black, but my watch told me it was only 3:03. This was turning out to be an interesting day. |

Both scientific men looking for answers to the world, is that what you're trying to tell me and the doctor? He might be willing to buy that, but I certainly don't, but instead believe that you're just looking for some money. I'm thinking a lot of money too, judging by the comment of $2,000 not being enough for the wings you brought him. Perhaps you didn't consider this, but what would he do if he found out that these wings weren't from the Cthooloo like you had claimed? Now I know that they are, and you know that they are, but the doctor still has to check them over to make sure for himself. Also, you should take into consideration the amount of money the average Tohean carries on themselves. Once you do that, I think you'll find that the sum of money you have been given thus far was very gracious indeed. Ms. Cartwright was actually on a break, or seeming to be anyways when you got to her desk, since she was eating. Seeing that it was you, she held up a finger for you to wait a moment as she brushed off her mouth and started picking things up off of her desk. After a few moments she finally found what she was looking for and handed it to you, it obviously being the check. Before you could just go off, however, she again held up her finger and started rummaging around her purse, looking for yet something else. With a sound of what you could assume to be triumph, she handed you some extra money and started giving you directions. "Now I know you're not an errand boy or anything, but I really need you to do me a huge favor. Could you please go to Earl's Photos and find a man named Pete? He says that he has enhanced pictures of what's up in that sky, and if you can get them and bring them to me that'd be great. It could seriously help everyone out if you know what I mean. Don't worry about giving him money, he's already been paid, that's for you for doing this for me. Thank you so much!" Grinning, she started eating again, leaving you to your devices, and letting you finally get out of the building without another interruption. Looking at your watch, you saw that it was only a little after three, and yet the sky was pitch black. People were screaming and running in all directions, and you saw some Pokémon appearing and grabbing some of the maniacs before leaving again. You could see Earl's Photos just down the street a ways, and it wouldn't take you long to get those pictures back here. Then again, you could just take the money and run, even take those pictures and go somewhere else to sell them to somebody different. Counting the money, you saw that she gave you $350, which may not be a lot when you consider who she's working for. But remember to think about how much someone would usually get for running such a simple errand. I shall add your $2,350 right now and leave you to decide what it is that you want to do. |

I got the check from the bitch secretary as she smiled and finished her lunch. She also gave me some money as payment to run off and grab some pictures of the things in the sky. She didn't have to pay me for this. I would gladly do that for free. Of course, I needed money for my plans, so I wasn't going to tell her that. $350 was not much, but it helped. As I walked down the street to the picture store, I looked around, sometimes at people, but mainly in the sky. It was interesting, but I wasn't sure how to explain it. I let Caligula out of his Pokeball and told him to tell me what he felt of the emotions and basic power of the entire place. I reached the store and walked in. Informing him that I was sent from the Institute, I took the pictures and left the building. I returned to the Institute slowly, examining the pictures and comparing them to the sky. It was a rather interesting comparison. When I arrived at the Institute, I showed the pictures to the girl and waited for a response. I waited calmly, but wondered in the process if she was able to read minds and my thoughts of her demise. |

When released upon the chaos of the city, Caligula looked around and didn't seem to like what he was feeling. In so little words, he told you that people were in a panic and fear, though of course he didn't suppose that's who you were referring to. So he began to describe the beings above as angry and controlling, power hungry even. As if being power hungry wasn't bad enough, he told you that whoever they were, they were very powerful. To top it all off, he also decided to tell you that if he could make a guess about anything, he'd say that it was the end of the world. You got the pictures without a problem, and the guy didn't even say anything or ask anything of you. The pictures were hard to say if they were actually comparable, although you couldn't say that they weren't. Ms. Cartwright looked at them curiously before smiling and telling you that it was a great help and that Dr. Matiglia would like to see you again. So you just went about your way to the scientist's office, with the pictures as Ms. Cartwright had asked. When you handed them over, he immediately stopped doing anything else and began to look them over carefully. Muttering an "oh my God," the scientist ran into the lab and put them up on a photo display thing and began to trace over the images with a finger. Finally he looked up at you. "This doesn't look good for us at all. I think that what we have in the sky is a bunch of Pokémon Gods fighting over the world. For some reason they got into a fight over it, and now we could all very well end up dead!" Well that's not very good, is it, although the money you got for the wings was. After examining them, and thinking that he might be able to connect things, the doctor here decided to give you another $8,000, to bring the total amount of money you got for the wings up to $10,000. Looks like you were right about getting more money. What say you? |

I got to Dr. M's room, and he took the pictures from me. He took on look at them and began running around like a maniac. He threw them up onto a viewing board and pointed frantically at them. He explained how some really powerful Pokémon were up in the sky fighting. Apparently they were considered to be gods. Whatever idiots that believed in gods should be dead anyways. The 'good' doctor gave me $8,000 more, and continued babbling. I looked at him and nodded. Then, I took my leave. Walking out into the foyer, I stopped for a minute, pensively. I glanced at the receptionist, wondering if it was a good idea to carry out my plan. I shrugged and changed my mind. The 'Pokémon gods' in the sky were more interesting. Exiting the building, I studied the sky for a while, watching the fight up above. It was interesting, to say the least. As I stood there, I wondered why they were fighting. (OOC: Move me. I'm done here.) |
