((Shouldn't Heracross have +1 speed? And then after this +2?)) Well, things were looking really good for Vince. Heracross managed to get four hits on Houndour without a scratch. Bronzor also managed to severely injure Gastly without a mark. Despite his one of his Pokémon being far weaker and the other being at a type disadvantage, the battle was extremely positive. Both of his opponent's Pokémon had at least one status ailment, making the battle even simpler for Vince. Ignoring his opponent's friends until after the battle, Vince turned to Heracross. "Heracross, use Agility and then Aerial Ace on Houndour, repeatedly. Watch for fires, but since he is paralyzed, it shouldn't be much trouble." Heracross nodded and flew into the air, increasing his speed again and eventually diving towards the dark dog. Turning to Bronzor, Vince began a new set of instructions, beginning with a word of approval. "Great job, Bronzor. Now, go in and use Confusion on Gastly again. This time, try to put him to sleep while you're in his head, and slowly sap away his health. Got it?" The creature bobbed and moved to invade the ghost's mind and put it to sleep with Hypnosis while at the same time taking away health. Vince stretched out and said, "So, kid. Still so confident?" |

Your Heracross had gotten lucky, its not very often a Houndour misses that badly, and you could be assured luck did not always go your way. Fortunately for you this was still a lucky time. Your Heracross boosted his speed with agility, flying around in a circle a few feet above the Houndour. His sped started increasing to such heights that the only reason you could tell were he was is by the back draft of wind left as he moved. The sound of his wings beating thrummed through the air, a loud sonorous noise that shook you to your very core. As your Heracross started moving even faster you look over to the other trainer. His mouth is wide open as he stares at the whirlwind created by your Heracross. All of a sudden your Heracross decides its time to use aerial ace and instantly vanishes from view. The Houndour stares around, his ears perking up as he smells the air trying hard to find the Heracross. “Were did he go? Houndour find him and finish this off wie…”The trainer never got a chance to finish the command, as out of no-were your Heracross appears and slams the mostly defenseless Houndour. Heracross hits the in the exact middle of the Houndour, and sends him launching do to a mixture of using his horn and also his heightened speed. The Houndour flies through the air, sailing up and over both the Gastly and your Bronzor, finally hitting the ground 7 feet from were he started, and began rolling for a bit. All in all he moved about 11 feet before coming to a complete stop, and complete it was. The Houndour tried moving a few times, his body shaking as the Pokémon tried desperately to fight off the pain as it coursed through his body. You gape at the attack, not sure exactly what happened to cause such damage even though neither type was very effective against Houndour. Well my friend, that’s what happens when you match super speed and an attack like that, add into the mix a critical and you have a very deadly attack there. “You failed me again!?! Not again you useless Pokémon, you failed me a second time, that’s unacceptable!!” The trainer yelled, rage and disgust showing in his eyes, flowing from his voice, even emanating from his very posture as he glared at the Houndour. “You failed me again and that’s not gonna work, your useless and I don’t need a useless Pokémon,” He said and took the Pokeball that was used for Houndour and broke it. You stare in disbelief at the completely insane actions of the trainer. Who would treat a Pokémon like that? But what’s this, your Bronzor is still attacking the Gastly. You look over and find the two staring at each other, obviously a battle of the wills as the Bronzor tries putting the ghost Pokémon to sleep using hypnosis, and the Gastly tries keeping himself awake. Right as the yelling starts, though, the Gastly flinches slightly and loses concentration and starts to drift back off to sleep. The trainer quickly shifts focus from the Houndour and looks at the Gastly. “Gastly, come on snap out of it, wake up and use nightshade.” The man yelled and broke your Bronzors concentration long enough for the Gastly to shake off some of the sleep effects and use nightshade. The attack hit Bronzor and caused a bit of damage, nothing to horribly special, but still if it could keep itself awake that Ghost Pokémon was going to be a problem. What are you going to do, you only have one opponent to face left, a Houndour that is in desperate need of medical attention, and the annoying trainer to deal with. What’s your first move? Vince watched the battle impassively, nodding to himself as his Pokémon succeeded in pulling off their moves flawlessly. Heracross had tossed Houndour across the road and sent him rolling to a stop, almost 4 yards away. Damn, Heracross was strong. However, things took a turn for the worst as the Houndour struggled to stand up. The trainer exclaimed in fury how Houndour had failed him again. Then, the bastard broke the Pokeball holding Houndour. Vince might not be the nicest guy on the block, but Pokémon are useful tools and there was no way that he was going to allow such insanity to take place. Releasing Abra, Vince informed him of his plan. Take a Pokeball to Houndour and convince it to go with you. He needs healing. Perhaps you can convince him to come with us. Go. Abra left a fleeting image about how the team didn't need a weak Pokémon, but Vince's glare sent Abra running to do his job. Of course, that didn't mean that he wouldn't sabotage anything. Regardless, now was not the time to be confronting Vince Roden. Returning his attention to the battle, Vince said, "Heracross, use Night Slash on Gastly. Bronzor, use Confusion." Then, Vince stopped paying attention altogether. He knew his Pokémon were well enough to still be able to take on Gastly, especially two against one. He began to walk across the playing field to his opponent and called, "What the F*** is wrong with you? Losing and failure are not reasons to abandon your Pokémon. You better have a good reason because now is not the time to be messing with me. I suggest that you leave your Pokémon with me and leave." Vince drew his final two Pokeballs and held them ready in his hands. He had no qualms about using them on the idiots in front of him. They had better do what Vince asked because otherwise, there could be problems involving a lot of pain. And by a lot, I mean potential death. |

The boy stopped and stared at you in shock as you yelled and screamed at him, and started taking steps backwards until he hit the wall of the Pokémon center. All three Pokémon stopped fighting and looked directly at both of you, the Houndour tried his best to watch but he was in a bit too much pain to move. The boy nodded and held out a Pokeball. “That’s G…G….Gastlys ball, take it man, just don’t hurt me.” The guy said and his friends started laughing at him, that was until you glared up at them. All the boys started running away, leaving the Pokeball and the two Pokémon in a means to try and keep you from hurting them. You turned and saw the Gastly staring at you, an uncertain expression on its face as it tried to comprehend what was going on. It assumed you were the new person to obey and came towards you. It cringed a bit as it got close to you, as if it had been mentally and emotionally abused by the other trainer. You nod and pas the Pokémon, heading towards the Houndour that was being a pain and refusing to enter the Pokeball, or even listen to Abra. You better see about that Houndour soon, its bleeding and needs to be healed. Even if you have toy have Abra put it to sleep or knock it out, either was now would be as good a time as ever to act. |

Vince watched the kid completely wimp out and smiled. His mind screamed at him to laugh, but that might be a bit too much. The kids laughed at their 'friend' and Vince turned to look at them. Immediately, they ran in fear, just like the trainer. On the ground lay Gastly's Pokeball, left as a peace offering. Vince shook his head in amazement that the kid could be so weak. Well, Vince now had a new Pokémon and a nearly dead Pokémon over there. Gastly came over to Vince and Vince patted it affectionately. "Hey, buddy," he whispered. "With me, I'll treat you right. Failure is not accepted, but I won't abandon you. You'll always have a place with me. Understand?" The gas ball nodded its body and waited around. Vince picked up Gastly's Pokeball and moved on to Houndour. Kneeling next to Abra, he whispered, "Look. I don't know if you want to come with me or not. To be honest, I don't care. However, I will not allow you to die. Therefore, you're coming with me to the Pokémon Center. You can decide what to do there. Okay?" Vince waited for Houndour to respond. He would give the dog one choice before giving it a double dose of Hypnosis to force it to come to the Pokémon Center. When there, he would heal his Pokémon, check out that box and get out of Wayford because he still was kinda a wanted man. Dual robbery doesn't win fame contests. |

Houndour sat and thought for a minute, debating whether or not he was interested in joining you, and decided that he was. He wanted to become stronger, felt that with power comes greatness and with the ease in which you beat him and scared his trainer or in this case his last trainer that you were the one to travel with. He stood up and started limping towards the Pokémon center, trying not to show his pain as he moved towards the door, and then up to the counter to wait patiently for Nurse Joy to heal him. “Excuse, me, it would be much easier if your Pokémon were in a Pokeball. It would make healing faster and easier for both me and the Pokémon.” Nurse joy said as she walked out from behind the desk. “So, if you would please put your Pokémon in its ball we could speed this up. Houndour glared at the Pokeball; still not sure whether he would like the idea of being stuck inside a tiny little contraption like that. As you approached the Houndour with a Pokeball he backed up slowly, not quite trying to escape, more like he was waiting for something before he joined officially. “Hmm, this isn’t the first time I’ve seen a Pokémon act like that, normally they don’t have any problems joining you, and they just want confirmation before they join. Usually with most Pokémon it’s a promise that you’ll take care of them. With Pokémon like Houndour though, it’s more likely that he wants to have a regular battle with you, one that can prove to him that you’re going to make him better then he is now.” Nurse joy said as she looked at you. Well, look at that, this Houndour wants to battle you on its own terms this time, wants to find out if you’re really as good as it thinks or if it was just dumb luck that you won last time. You up for its challenge? Or were you going to just forget about this Pokémon and be on your merry way? Vince watched the hound limp willfully to the center. Upon reaching the desk, Houndour was Nurse Joy recommended to enter his Pokeball. Vince grinned because this forced Houndour to make a choice. Yet Houndour still refused to enter because apparently he wanted a fight. "A fight? I can deal with that." He took a Pokeball from his belt and released a small orange lizard. "This is Charmander, Houndour. Charmander meet Houndour." Charmander smiled a big toothy grin. "You two will be fighting at Houndour's request," said Vince. Nodding to Houndoru, Vince beckoned for Charmander to follow him outside. "Meet us outside when you're ready, Houndour." Vince and Charmander exited the building. Speaking to the lizard quickly, Vince said, "Let Houndour come out, but use Ancient Power at my command as soon as he starts to attack. Got it, little one?" Charmander nodded and began to store energy in his little body waiting for the command. ((Just say that Vince said it.)) |

Houndour sat in the Pokémon center for a minute or two, calming himself and regrouping his energy. A second later he came walking out of the Center, his shoulders back and head held high as he acted like he was perfectly fine. He stopped about 5 feet from you and Charmander and sat down. He stared at your Charmander for a few seconds, trying to gauge how good he was. A split second later he was running towards your Charmander. He instantly sped up as he used Agility and was quickly followed by Roar. You told Charmander to attack and he did so. He started glowing bright yellow as he focused the attack, and then quickly shot out a beam of energy. The energy slammed into the side of Houndour and sent him sprawling. After a few seconds he stood up and glared at your Charmander. He immediately started running again, this time making circles around your Charmander. As he shortened the size of the circle he opened hi mouth and let out a large purple colored fog that started drifting towards your Charmander from all sides. Houndour kept this up for a few more circles and then jumped back out of the circle. He stared as the smoke started making smaller and smaller circles as it closed more and more onto your Charmander. Oh, well that sucks, circled on all sides but up by a wall of poison. That makes things a bit more difficult don’t they? Your Charmander is in a bind and for all it knows an attack could come from any sides. On the flip side, though, you’re Pokémon looked a bit stronger then it had a second ago. Maybe things didn’t turn out that bad in the end. Lv. 6 37/37 89%(all stats +1) Lv. 9 19/43 81%(speed +2) |

Vince watched his plan get executed flawlessly, like always. Somehow, everything seemed to go his way, for the most part. Charmander managed to score a direct hit on Houndour, sending the dog backwards and simply angering the dog. At least the attack seemed to do some decent damage. However, Houndour began to run around in a circle around Charmander, enclosing the lizard in a ring of smog. Vince thought for a few minutes before informing Charmander, "Okay, Charmander, I want you to use Agility and then run as fast as you can through the smog. Once you're through use Ancient Power on Houndour as you see him. Try to gather the energy you need as you exit the ring." Charmander called out in his shrill voice, "CHAR!" Vince smiled, knowing that the lizard had understood and was beginning to execute the plan immediately. All that was left was for |

Charmander started moving quickly and made its way successfully out of the ring of smog with no problems. He slowed down a little once on the other side and started looking for that darned Houndour. He looked both ways to see if he was coming, but after not spotting him Charmander decided to go look for the darned dog. As Charmander rounded the turn of the smog he noticed Houndour sitting on the ground about 15 feet away. Obviously he was taking a quick break to catch his breath. Unfortunately for the Houndour he didn’t spot your Charmander in return. Charmander moved back out of site and started powering up his attack, ready to turn and unleash it at the other Pokémon. Charmander grinned as he turned the corner and was getting ready to take aim at the Houndour. Much to both of their surprise Houndour had decided it would be safe to move his resting spot to the other side of the smog back. He had assumed incorrectly, for as he reached the corner your Charmander jumped, seemingly from out of no-where. Houndour instinctively ducked, narrowly avoiding the blast from the ancient power that was fired in to much haste to get a good target lock. He quickly followed the duck with his own special attack. Houndour opened its jaws wide and lunged for the Charmander, its fangs glowing bright yellow as he struck. Suddenly your Charmander began to shake in pain as electric energy danced across its body from the thunder fang attack. As the attack ended Houndour jumped back a bit, ready to use the attack again. Unfortunately this didn’t happen. As the Houndour let go Charmander was powering up another ancient power, using the excess electric energy left in its body as more fuel for more power. He quickly released the attack and it struck the Houndour in the chest and head. Houndour stood there for a moment, disbelief showing on its face, then its legs shifted and he fell on his face, knocked unconscious from the damage. Hmm, I’d say that he did a pretty good job in that fight, but that’s just me. He’s obviously a powerful, and smart, Pokémon. What were you going to do now? Vince watched Charmander exit the ring of smog and turn to find Houndour. The lizard looked around frantically, trying to avoid a surprise attack while trying to land one of his own. Luckily for Charmander, Houndour was not the brightest bulb in the bunch. The hound came around the 'corner' and Charmander attacked. Sadly, the lizard was a little rash and missed his initial attack. Houndour used Thunder Fang on Charmander, sending the little lizard shaking with the power running though him. Houndour finished his assault and leapt back to try again. Unluckily for him, Charmander used the energy from the electrical attack to fuel another Ancient Power attack. Unleashing his fury on the hound, the dog went down for the count. Charmander leapt up and down excitedly. He had just won. Vince walked over to Charmander and said, "Great job, little one. But a word of advice. Always take your time. You could have come out of this fight unscathed if you hadn't been hasty. Keep that in mind. But excellent work." Vince went over to Houndour and lifted him up. Walking easily into the center, he told Nurse Joy, "If you could heal Houndour a bit so that he can join my squad, I would be grateful. Also..." Here Vince turned to see Charmander powering up his new Ember attack. Vince called, "Charmander, no. Return." And before the fires were unleashed, Charmander re-entered his Pokeball. Turning back to Nurse Joy, Vince said, "Sorry. Could you also heal Charmander?" Vince stood with a ready Pokeball, waiting for Houndour to be revived. He wanted to have the dog wake up with Vince staring him down, showing the hound his determination that he, Vince, would make him a better fighter. |

Nurse joy nodded and went behind the counter. “I watched the battle, that’s a pretty smart Houndour you got there, never seen one use a Smog attack like that before. Either that or he is just really lucky.” Nurse joy said and pulled out a revive and a potion. She used the revive on the Houndour, quickly followed by a potion. “There, good as new,” she said and took your Charmander for the same treatment. Houndour shook its head as he regained consciousness, and then looked up at you. He saw the look of intensity in your eyes and sat there for a few seconds. Houndour sighed and taped the Pokeball you were holding with its nose, getting it drawn into the Pokeball without a struggle. Houndour considered you its new master for now. He hoped you wouldn’t treat him as bad as the last trainer he had, but it was a risk he was willing to take. “Here’s your Charmander, as good as new. Now that Houndour deserves to be treated nice, you will do that wont you?” Nurse joy asked, making sure you weren’t lying to her when you said yeah. Well, you would treat it nice wouldn’t you? |

Vince nodded as he listened to the nurse's kind compliment. It looked like somehow that dumbass of a trainer who had fought Vince earlier was the lucky one. Houndour and Gastly appeared to be quite powerful Pokémon and their trainer appeared to suck at more than just Pokémon, namely life. Well, enough about the loser that Vince just scared the crap out of. It was time to move on in his own journey. He had to find a new way to finish his team of robbers. Soon, his team would be perfect. He had need of only one more creature to fulfill his dream, yet this Pokémon was elusive and difficult to obtain. Vince shook his head to clear his thoughts. He had vaguely heard Nurse Joy's question and responeded to what he heard, which was more or less the same thing. "Ma'am, Houndour will be treated like royalty on my squad because that is what he deserves. No Pokémon deserves any less. If I treat him badly, I would be heartbroken and hurt by the pain that would be caused." Vince nodded a good-bye to the nurse and turned away. He smiled subtlely as he walked out the door, thinking of the stupidity of what he had just said. He would definitely treat the Pokémon as best he could, but he would never be heartbroken. He was too far above the rest of humanity for that. Before exiting the building, an idea struck Vince and he turned around. He walked back up to the nurse and said, "Nurse Joy, I was wondering. A long time ago, I heard of an elusive Pokémon that could transform itself into any shape. It was called Ditta or something. Such a Pokémon would be an excellent asset to any team. Now, I was wondering if you knew of any such Pokémon's whereabouts. I have searched high and low to find one, yet never have I gotten a hint. Do you have any advice for catching such a Pokémon?" Vince steeled his eyes in a kind yet resolved manner, showing concern for Pokémon that enter his team, yet also a deathly strong resolve to capture the Pokémon known as Ditto. |

Ah, yes...Playing innocent, eh? You had actually stolen a Pokémon or two, but we aren't counting that just now. Still, even you must know that obtaining a Ditto wasn't going to be easy; these things were ever-changing, and could be hiding from you in plain sight. Tread carefully. Nurse Joy answered your question after contemplating things for a moment. "Ditto can be found in urban areas, although they are very rare. You'd definitely have to travel to either Tohea or Wayford from here to find one. Even if you do find one, you may not recognize it; an experience Ditto can change its appearance at will to match that of a person, Pokémon, or an object. "This doesn't always work, especially in the cases of living things, but some Ditto are rather ticklish. If you suspect an object to be a Ditto, try tickling it. Often, the said object will giggle slightly. Ditto dealers also exist. These people are breeders of Ditto, but are logically very rare. "I wish you luck in your search," she finished, hurrying off to help more Pokémon and trainers. Well, there you had it, the best scoop that you could get on Ditto. She had been specific as possible, but was a little frustratingly vague to you. No matter...like Captain Ahab, you were fully willing to sail to the ends of the earth for Moby Dick...figuratively. Then again, you hadn't been in a book written by Herman Melville either. Now...which way will you go? |

((OOC: I moved me back to Wayford because that's where I officially am. Also, I am now switching to first person.)) I thanked the Nurse and left the building. A ticklish object, eh? Well, that doesn't help much. I mean how weird would it look if I went around tickling random objects. I'd look like a profound fool and after that I'd be unable to find the Ditto I need. Plus, if I wanted to do this right, my plan would have to include secrecy because the fewer people who recognize me as out of the ordinary, the better. Which brings us to another reason why I need a Ditto. The Ditto could be my face for the crowd, making me not have to appear to do anything. It would be great. That is, if I ever found a Ditto. Well, the Nurse told me to search the cities. The best place for information in a city is always the alleyways. There, one can try to scare the crap out of people to get the information you need. Its free, easy, and simple. Thus, I set off to go to the alleyways. And that was the first step into a new world. I would need to set up a system of contacts in the underworld eventually, so today was as good a day as any to begin. I entered the alleyways and searched for someone who looked like they might know where one could find hard to find items. |
