Trainer Name: Theodore “Teddy” Scott Trainer Gender: Male Trainer Age: 16 Trainer Weight: 54 kgs Trainer Biography: Pre-birth Girls with humble lives and not a penny to their name don’t get to live the fairy tale “ball gowns and magical pumpkins” life. Boys born into a prestigious, rich family don’t long for the simple life and swap places with an unsuspecting hobo... But... what happens in a small town, lying out away from civilization, doesn’t always conform to the rules set forth by reality. The small town: Guraina Town, the working class girl: Narianna Centrs, the rich, spoilt boy: Jonathon-Marcus Scott. The perfect set up for a fairy tale ending... A working girl though and through, Narianna Centrs had no aspirations higher than the little bakery her family had owned for generations. Her life consisted of work, work and the occasional daydream about the dashing, young, rich son of the town’s most celebrated, and only, nobleman. Her dreams would go unanswered, though, as she begun to accept that the simple life of the rich and famous would never be hers. When she sat alone at night, abandoned by her own future, no magical, robed, winged woman descended from the sky, waved a sparkler and changed the foundation of reality itself. No, she had to make do with the basic human desire to have money to drive her forwards. She would often sit and think; how unfair it is that I, while first born, will never be given run of the family company. How unfair it is that my younger brother will always be my better. How unfair it is that the object of my eye will never know me. While this would normally be enough to crush any normal girl, Narianna had grown tough in her life. Meanwhile, the ‘object of her affection,’ was riding around in his private horse-pulled carriage. His eyes turned to the window as he gazed out dreamily. In his head, a small tune played, much like elevator music. He seemed to have very few individual thoughts. Now, when the mystical forces of desire, love, dreams and boredom all collide, strange things begin to happen. Gaining a sudden spark of insight, Jonathon jumped from his carriage in true pretty-boy style, landing perfectly on the dusty ground, red cape fluttering around his lower back and his funny hat sitting ever so awkwardly on his bouncy mop of brown hair. As he stepped forwards, he found himself in a bakery. He stepped towards the counter, and met eyes with a young girl, scraggly, unkempt red hair hidden unsuccessfully beneath an olden time hairnet; her features soft as a Meowth’s fur and her skin glowing with a rusty tan. Would it be too much of a cliché to say it was love at first sight? No. In fact, it wouldn’t be enough of a cliché. The second their eyes met, he swept her off her feet, into his carriage, and demanded the driver take them to his mansion. Well, shortly after, they were married. Narianna fell pregnant in the weeks following and, not wanting her child brought up in this little backwards village, suggested to her loving husband, Jonathon, that they move to the nearest city. Again acting on impulse and stupidity, he begged a large sum of money from his father, packed everything he owned, and had them racing down the dirt path outside the village faster than should have been legally allowed. Now, upon arriving in the nearest city, they were overwhelmed. There was so much there, talking phones, strange doors that made whooshing sounds when you got too close to them and people running around gloating about their ‘balls.’ Needless to say, once they could figure out where the residential area was, they were quick to buy up a large, very new age, home, wanting to be submersed in the real world. Well, nine months later, Narianna had her child. He was almost the spitting image of his great-grandfather, but Narianna assumed that was because he was bald with no teeth and a tendency to urinate at, quite frankly, the most inappropriate times. In any case, Narianna got her wish, and her son, Theodore Scott, was listed as a legal resident of Cerulean City. Growing up Theodore, being a happy young boy, was keen to explore his city from the very beginning. Living in a city associated with water, he would often spend his time at the local ponds. His parents would often accompany him, but all they ever did was sit on a bench and kiss. Theodore, not wanting to keep that image with him too long, took to feeding the fish pokémon in the pond. He would often pet the Goldeen when they came up close to eat the bread. He learned quickly to avoid touching their horns. After a while, more fish Pokémon would come to him. They were all pretty common in the surrounding areas, but once a Clampearl came up to the surface. Then things like Mudkip started coming too, even when he wasn’t feeding them. Theodore’s life until school started was directly dependant on coming to see the plethora of Pokémon that lived in the local pond. When he started school, a new idea was introduced to him: Pokémon training. There were classes for it, as well as Pokémon care and other Pokémon based activities. His parents made sure he stayed away from them all. They said there was no future in Pokémon training, and that it was much like the acting or musical professions, they were easy to say you were going to be in, but hard to make a living out of. And so, Theodore had to be happy with going to the pond each day. His life from then until his 16th birthday was pretty much the same. He made lots of friends, and would often take them with him to see the water Pokémon. At first the Pokémon were quite weary of his friends, but soon warmed up to them and begun to act normally around them. His parents began to get worried that their desire to keep him on the academic route, despite his love of Pokémon, would cause him to eventually hate them. 16th Birthday On his 16th birthday, Theodore was told he would be leaving education. His parents had finally realized that they were pushing him in the wrong direction. He was told to come straight home, so they could give him some good news. He decided to stop off at the local pond to give his long-time friends the great news. Recently, a link with another pond had been formed. Now different Pokémon had begun travelling into the previously little pond. When Theodore arrived he was both shocked and horrified to find that, floating belly-up on the pond, was a small, blue Pokémon he hadn’t seen before. It was either a baby, or amazingly small. A group of Pokémon surrounded it, melancholy expressions adorning their faces. Some bore injuries on their bodies, ones that didn’t seem too old. It was obvious something big had attacked them, and the small Pokémon had gotten off very badly. Without thinking, Theodore scopped the small Pokémon up in his hands, and made a mad dash towards the local gym. The Pokémon centre was too far away, and the people in the gym were probably water-Pokémon experts. As he burst through the doors, he was met with three girls, each of them staring at him. Another girl, who was standing in the middle of the lobby, had been talking, but was now questioning why the girls had stopped pretending to listen to her. She slowly turned her head to Theodore. Normally, in this situation, he would feel very embarrassed about the whole ordeal, but the second he began to speak, the red-haired girl ran over to him, scooped up the little Pokémon, and dragged him into a back room. As he waited outside the entrance to the aquarium, one of the girls, with really nice, blond hair, came out to speak to him. Apparently he’d done the right thing as Misty, who he found was the red-haired girl, was very good with water Pokémon. After a few hours, the three girls came out to join them. They told Theodore the young Pokémon, called a Horsea, would soon recover. Overjoyed, he hugged the blond girl he’d been talking to, but quickly realized what he was doing and stepped back. However, yet another surprise was scheduled for Theodore that day. His parents turned up at the gym, asking about him. They were both quite angry when they saw that he really was there, and hadn’t gone home; but when Misty explained the situation to them, they were quite proud of their son. Then they broke the startling news. They had asked Misty, the gym leader, to find Theodore a water Pokémon that he could use as a starting Pokémon, which is why she had gone to the gym. However, when she found that her sisters hadn’t been keeping any baby Pokémon, she begun to lecture them on the importance of helping young trainers. Shocked at the strange turn of events, Theodore turned to Misty, and bowed deeply, thanking Misty from the bottom of his heart, and giving both his parents quick, tight hugs. Misty then stated she had a brilliant idea. Theodore and his parents returned home, making preparations for him to begin his journey. He would be going, by boat, to the Tohea region. Apparently it was a great place for young trainers, especially the place he would be going to... a port town, apparently, and great place for such an avid fan of water Pokémon. Theodore couldn’t believe this was happening. It was all a dream to him. When Misty came to call on him, clutching his pokeball, she began calling him Teddy, forgetting his real name. While his parents weren’t best pleased, Theodore quite liked the name, and decided to adopt it as an alias of sorts. When they arrived at the port, Misty handed him the pokeball, along with a thing she called a pokedex. She didn’t explain anything, but instead indicated the ball, telling him not to let the Pokémon out until he was on the ship, and to release it into the water. He nodded, giving Misty and his parents one last hug. He still felt odd hugging Misty, as did she with him, but she stayed to wave in any case. Teddy had to look away quite quickly to avoid bursting into tears. When he was finally far enough from shore, and his eyes had dried slightly, Teddy released the Pokémon from its ball. He was surprised, yet delighted, to see the small, blue body of Horsea appear from the ball, sitting happily in the pool he had been standing by. Misty had left him with the Horsea he’d found... As his eyes began to well up again, he knelt beside the pool, petting the tiny Pokémon fondly. He looked down on his new partner, and knew... he knew what the little guy had to be called... “Heya... Tiny...” Trainer Appearance: Theodore’s hair is quite messy, and sits atop his head the way a cat would sit curled up on a tree branch. It seems to lack a style together, and when wet and allowed to fall to its full length, it completely blocks out his deep blue eyes. His eyes are always filled with some sort of emotion, and he’s not the kind of person to be able to disguise how he feels about any situation. His eyes are, however, at great indifference to his skin. His skin, while not deathly pale, isn’t as tanned as most other peoples. Most people assume this makes him quite frail, but it simply shows he has quite healthy skin, which is free of blemishes. He’s 5”9’ Theodore has, since leaving home, adopted not only a new name, but also a new look. Shedding himself of the collared shirts and tailored pants, he has gone for a more practical look. His head is left uncovered, down to his neck, at which point a short, white, scarf-like piece of material is wrapped tightly around the base of his neck, one end of which dangles down his back. His shirt is a pale blue colour, a water droplet on the front being the only decoration on the shirt. Its outline is dark blue, but its inside is white. He wears a simple, while belt with a pokeball holster built in. His lower body is covered by a pair of dark blue 3/4 lengths with a surprising number of pockets; white ankle socks and a pair of sneakers/trainers that have light blue soles and are made of dark blue material cover his feet. His backpack is very basic, except it is a mixture of light blue, on the pockets, and a normal blue colour for the main body. Starter Town: Ayer Starter Pokémon: Male Horsea called Tiny =) (Is it ok to have a Pokémon that can only really fight in water right from the start? I'm planning on having a water/ice-Pokémon centric character, if the refs allow it, and Horsea was closer to my favorite water Pokémon than any of the others... I would tell you what it was, but that might ruin my chances of finding it, so I'll keep quiet and hope... (Plus, I couldn't resist getting an Avatar and a Sig with them in... =( ) ^^) Sample RP: (When leaving his parents and Misty at the dock.) As the car slowed to a halt, a strange jolt of exhilaration rushed through Teddy’s body. His heart rate had increased to the point that it could be felt in his throat, and his palms had begun to feel clammy and wet. He feverously wiped his hands on his pant legs, trying to dry the imaginary sweat that now coated them. His skin began to prickle as he raised his head and saw the mighty passenger ship that now loomed above them, casting a great shadow down upon the port. Misty, who had been sitting next to him, reached out a hand slowly to tap his shoulder. As he did so, Teddy leapt up as far as his seatbelt would allow, and came back down staring at Misty, wild-eyed, while pressed against his door. Misty had quickly retracted her hand, and was staring at him in shock. As they all clambered out of the car, Teddy was met with the sudden tangy rush of sea air. It assaulted his nose, and made him blink a few times, but also felt like a godsend on his sweating forehead. Finally managing to calm himself for more than a second, he was able to take in the awesomeness of his predicament. This mighty ship would soon depart, him aboard, for some foreign land, and all he’d have were the bare necessities, and a Pokémon. He turned to the side, and saw his parents looking to him with both pride and fear etched into their features. They were just as scared, as he was... suddenly, Misty’s face loomed into view. Teddy took a surprised step back, and suddenly saw Misty hold out her hands. She nodded to him, a smile on her face, and he held out his hands below both of hers. She nonchalantly unclenched her fists, and allowed the objects to fall into Teddy’s hands. In his right hand, a handheld... something, and in his left, an inactivated, yet still inhabited, pokeball. Misty looked to him as his hands curled up around the objects. She felt an explanation was in order. “The handheld” she said, pointing to Teddy’s right hand, “is a Pokedex. I had one lying around... they tell you what you need to know about... well, everything, really.” She grinned slowly, “and the pokeball is... well, you’ll find out...” Teddy was still in awe of the feel of the pokeball in his hand. It was so tiny, but didn’t feel cold and metallic, like the pokedex... it was more... like something was warming it for them inside. The sudden sounding of a large horn broke his focus. Everyone’s focus immediately turned to the monster of a ship that stood, waiting for the last few passengers to board. His mother stepped towards him, handing him a backpack and quickly embracing him in a fond, heartfelt hug. Teddy heard her sniffle back the tears as she said her goodbyes, and felt his own tears to well in his eyes. A hug from his father was enough to get his eyes watering even more. As he turned to go to the ship, he suddenly turned and embraced Misty, muttering a final thank you. It was awkward for both of them, but Misty played along, patting him on the back and sending him on his way. He turned and began to ascend the plank leading to the ship. As the ship pulled away, Teddy turned back to the port to see his mother embracing his father, both waving with all their might, and Misty offering a parting wave too. Again he felt the floodgates begin to burst, and after a quick, jerky hand motion that may have resembled a wave, he turned from the side of the boat and shakily walked to the pool’s side. He sat down in one of the chairs, head in hands, and finally let himself cry. He cried so much; he thought he was going to sink the ship for sure. As the tears slowly began to subside, he was filled with excitement. He removed his hands from his face, and placed the pokedex he’s pressed into his cheek into his right pocket. Then his full attention turned to the pokeball... what would it be? “Let’s see...” |

Great Job! Your profile has been approved. This means you don't need to make any further changes, and what you've done is acceptable for use in Tohea. Before you can FULLY begin your journey, however, you need to answer these four questions. If you get them all correct, you will be admitted into the RPG. Otherwise, you will be asked another four questions. Be sure to read the rules to find the answers, as you should have done already. [X] What rule allows any Pokémon to use Agility? [X] Can a Pokémon learn a move before it has reached the appropriate level, without the use of TMs? If so, how? [X] Is it permitted to advertise in the CBox? [X] Are Pokémon abilities (Eg Swarm and Pressure) taken into consideration in Tohea? Thank you, Tohea RPG Staff This is an automated message (1) If it wasn't okay to start with a Pokémon only able to fight in water it wouldn't be on the starter list. |

[X] What rule allows any Pokémon to use Agility? Uhm, it’s listed in the Global Attack List. It says it’s because it’s unrealistic for a Pokémon not to be able to use these moves. And low-levelled Pokémon get a bit of variety... or something like that... [X] Can a Pokémon learn a move before it has reached the appropriate level, without the use of TMs? If so, how? Yes, it can. If the move is quite close to the Pokémon’s current level, then all that is required is a semi-detailed and imaginative post based around the trainer aiding the Pokémon to learn the technique. If, however, the attack is one that the Pokémon wouldn’t normally get until very late, or not at all, but is plausible for it to have (based on type, species, gender, etc.) then a(some) thoroughly detailed and extensive open-ended post(s) are required. [X] Is it permitted to advertise in the CBox? Nuuuuuu! You can't advertise in the c-box, or by PM, but advertising is allowed in the advertising forum, located in the OOC boards. You may only advertise if you are an active member of Tohea (with 3 pages to your journey) and have over 100 posts. You may not advertise a site that is a rip-off of Tohea, you may not advertise a site that clashes with Invisionfree's TOS and you may only bump a posted link once a week. [X] Are Pokémon abilities (Eg Swarm and Pressure) taken into consideration in Tohea? Yesh, they are! ^^
Ah, yesh, sorry. I should have worded it better... what I meant to say is, is it a bad idea to start with one that can only fight in water? I mean, will I be able to progress and battle Pokémon while travelling, even if they appear on land? In this situation, would it be plausable to say there was a random pond, or would running be my only option until I found a water Pokémon that could wander around on land? Again, sorry for the bad wording. :unsure |

Elaborate on question 3, where on the forums are you allowed to advertise? And Horsea isn't that bad so you might have it hop around on its tail but you could always get a Mystic Water too. |
