"I do not think there is any thrill that can go through the human heart like that felt by the inventor as he sees some creation of the brain unfolding to success... such emotions make a man forget food, sleep, friends, love, everything." - Nikola Tesla

The rain still poured down into the arena, both Pokémon standing in the arena looking ready to kill. Raichu looked slightly more beat up than Hitmonchan but that was to be expected. Hitmonchan delivered a few short sharp jabs in the air, warming itself up before the fight, it was still staring directly at the small mouse opposite it. The crowd, still oblivious to the rain, were cheering both trainers now. Obviously the challenger had now won the respect of the crowd. Raichu suddenly concentrated on itself again, begin to charge up its small electrical charge. Without waiting to see what would happen Hitmonchan charged in at lightning speed and whacked the small mouse. As it came into contact with the small mouse it seemed to become more solid, turning to a sort of iron, before sending the small mouse flying across the arena and slamming into the walls. It was Raichus' day for colliding with inaminate objects. As Raichu fell to the ground, unconscious, Hitmonchan recoiled and seemed to judder backwards. Hitting an electric mouse when it was all ready charging up power was sure to have some sort of back lash. Juddering backwards the Pokémon seemed to twitch every now and then as electricity coursed through its' body. It would still be able to attack, but it was slower and would probably be disabled at some points as the electricity became to much to bear. The crowd broke into a fit of frenzy, the challenger had managed to beat one of Koga's Pokémon. They knew though that Koga was just getting warmed up, he hadn't even started yet....... Koga's raichu was recalled without any obvious movement by the ninja. A simple flick of the wrist, hidden under his robe and it was returned. "A fighting type, Parasect perhaps?" Koga thought. "It's Hitmonchan, don't forget Fire Punch!" "OH! YES! What would you recommend then?" "Let me go in." "What!? Not this early!" "Don't worry, This should be quick, a fighting type against a strongly psychic moth like me, you don't need to worry, seriously." "Promise me that you'll come straight back if the next round it too much!" "I promise." Throwing his arm backward, Koga released Aerodactyl, who spread his mighty wing over Koga. Koga's venomoth let go of Koga's head and started out onto the field. In the crowd, someone shouted out, "What's with you and keeping yourself dry? Some of us out here are still getting wet you know?" But Koga ignored the plea, his eyes glazed over white like those of his parasect and he could hear nothing except the thoughts of his favorite Pokémon, who had just bravely flown out onto the field. "Good luck, Venomoth." "Don't worry! I'll be fine!" |

Cody saw his Hitmonchan twitch, and was worried. This would not turn out good. But he pumped his fist in the air as he saw the Raichu recalled. The crowd was now cheering them both on. Cody felt exhilarated. He loved the fact that he had earned their respect. Now it was a basic tie. They both lost one Pokémon. Now Koga called out the Venemoth he had been using as an umbrella. Now he was facing a Pokémon that had the type strength over his Pokémon... again. He didn't think strategy would help too much with this one, and none really came to mind right away. He thought of possible moves. But the way that Hitmonchan was twitching, he doubted he would be much help at the moment. So what else did he have? He needed a Pokémon that could take on a Psychic/Bug. Also, Koga had an Aerodactyl, which Cody was more then prepared for. The rain was pouring down Cody's long hair, and he enjoyed every minute. It calmed his mind to help him think. This rain should hinder the flight of Venemoth, and make it hard for him to use powder attacks, so Cody wasn't too worried. The rain was so soothing and... the rain! That was it! He knew exactly who to pick! Cody grabbed his Pokeball, and returned Hitmonchan, getting boos from the crowd. Then Cody silently threw a Pokeball out, revealing a yellow-and-blacked striped humanoid Pokémon who was simply electrified to start battle. |

Having Venomoth on the field, Koga was able to overhear Cody's thoughts. "The fool is using thunder..." Venomoth sent to him. "Well, end the rain!" Koga sent back. "We have the advantage of first strike now, use it." "Yes..." Venomoth responded simply. the moth then flew up higher and higher into the sky and focused his energy on the clouds. A mastery of all weather strategies and all status abnormalities, where at the hands of Koga's eldest friend. His first gym defender had almost ever TM in the book used on her. She was his ultimate. Turning her psychic energies to the clouds, venomoth began to use Sunny Day. "Alright, if he starts to attack before you finish, hit him with a disable to stop him, otherwise fire a powerful PSYCHIC blast directly at him when you are done. Agree?" Koga's thought was sent to Venomoth. "Yes, sounds effective." the psychic bug's thought returned. |

Cody saw Venemoth start to clear the clouds. As if that would help. He had trained his Electabuzz especially. Ever since it was an Elekid, he had worked to boost his Electabuzz to it's full potential. It's range of moves was phenomenal. It had learned many TMs along the days, but also had personal training with Cody. Cody got the TMs from the gyms he had conquered to get to the Elite Four. Also, he often asked for those instead of money when winning a battle, for the sole purpose of training his Electabuzz. Now it was time to really put it to the test. Electabuzz was always his peacemaker. He was the one who always changed the tides of battle for Cody. Time to make a tsunami out of the tides. "Electabuzz, show that bug what you're made of. Use Rain Dance! We need that rain! Then I want you to use Thunder! Then, I want you to follow you up with another Thunder! Put that bug out of commission!" Electabuzz grunted in enthusiasm. "Buzz!" Cody smiled. Koga's little bug was done now. This three move combo could not be defeated, even by the strongest of Pokémon. If it didn't put the bug out of commission, it wouldn't be moving too quickly either way. No way anything could shrug off an attack like that. my three move combo for the match |

The crowd were screaming again as the challenger recalled his Pokémon and sent out Electabuzz. This challenger knew his type differences and what was going to destroy his Pokémon, if only he'd realised it before. Both trainers stood facing each other as their Pokémon sized each other up. Koga stood looking at the challenger, his face twitching ashe gave his commands psychically. Cody shouting his so everyone could hear as the flying bug started to clear the clouds. As the moth flew into the air and started removing the black rain clouds, the electric Pokémon down below began to dance madly in an attempt to bring them back. What would seem to occur was a long battle between the rain or the sun, though this was not to happen. Venomoth paused for only a second and suddenly Electabuzz stopped dancing, frozen on the spot by the psychic moth's disable. The clouds stayed but no longer was it raining. The moth flew back down to ground level, still maintaining serious concentration to keep the elctric Pokémon locked in place. Suddenly Electabuzz was free, the moths concentration broken as it tried to launch a Psychic attack. The Electric Pokémon took no time in firing two beams of electricity directly into the air. They crackled off into the clouds and disappeared. Venomoth correcting itself launched a powerful Psychic at Electabuzz sending him skidding across the floor clutching its' head as its' brain was attacked by the moth. Suddenly, from the clouds came an immense crack as the Thunder burst back through the cover. With the rain no longer channeling the power, the first Thunder missed the moth but sent waves of electricity into it causing it to collapse to the floor. The second bolt didn't miss, it slammed into the moth and sent millions of volts of electricity through the moth. The crowd gasped and waited for the light to fade to see the result of the chaos. Even after being zapped by millions of volts of electricty Venomoth was still able to pick itself up and start flying again, saved by its type being Bug/Poison not Flying. It was also safe from Paralysis by it's Shield Dust preventing move's added effects and it flew back to hover in front of Koga. Electabuzz picked itself off the floor and shook it's head and returned to Cody too. Both Pokémon ready and raring for the next round. Cody looked happy. That Venemoth had hit Electabuzz pretty good with that Psychic, but he had managed to nail it hard with a Thunder attack. Venemoth clearly lost that match-up. It wasn't raining as he had planned though. Mustn't use too many Thunders though, as it could tire his Electabuzz out. Instead, he had to think of the TM's again. What else had he given Electabuzz that could beat a Bug and Poison Pokémon? Oh! He knew now! Let's surprise that Venemoth with a taste of his own medicine. "Ok Electabuzz, make sure that bug can't hit you. Try and throw a Thunderbolt at it, unless it starts to hit first. In that case, use Double Team and dodge it!" Cody then grinned as he was about to give the second order. "Then, I want you to nail it with a Psychic of your own! It will be super effective against a Poison Pokémon!" Electabuzz grunted in agreement, and slammed his fists together, making a flash of electricity around them. Cody grinned at Koga as let the order fall on his ears. |
