First off, we have some QUESTS. You, lucky little bastard that you are, get to design four (4) quests for four different characters. Keep them interesting and innovative as much as possible, and don't forget to do all the sections of a quest: overall quest, hardships, rewards, and/or whatever else you can think up. Keep in mind that when I say "design a quest," I mean "design a good quest with the outline being about a paragraph long." -Ash Ketchum -Ronald McDonald -Your choice -Your choice |

Ash Ketchum Ash is wandering along one of the many routes in this new fantastic land of Tohea. Murmuring black murder about Prof. Oak and his 'new' Pokémon discoveries, Ash stumbles across a whole pack of wild Poochyena. They chase him up a tree and surround him, looking like they'll never leave. Ash spends two days up the tree before realising he has to do something (as he doesn't have Brock or Misty to tell him what to do). Ash tries climbing down but gets chased back up by the Poochyena so tries to think of a plan. Pikachu is extremly unhelpful and runs off into the forest, tired of Ash's stupidity, leaving him with only a couple of rubbish Pokémon to use. Options Option 1: Take all his clothes off and throw them to the Poochyena to distract them while he tries to escape. Option 2: Battle the Poochyena with his two rubbishy Pokémon and hope he wins. Option 3: Stay where he is and hope they go away. Hardships Outcome of 1: Ash does escape but is arrested as soon as he enters the next town for indecent exposure and loses all his money and Pokémon. Outcome of 2: If he chooses to battle: Wild Poochyena Lvl. 10 x20 Lvl. 15Ash's Pokémon Lvl. 12 Lvl. 4Ash battles the 20 lower levelled Poochyena and then the pack leader without pause. Ronald McDonald Ronald is having a normal day at work encouraging little kids to become obese and inserting subliminal messages into TV shows. A phone call comes in from an irate fat person who is trying to sue him for making them obese. Ronald ignores the call and gets back to work. The next day the fat person on the phone turns up at McDonalds and complains that he is now not "lovin' it" but gets kicked out by security. Later that evening the fat guy turns up at Ronalds mansion and knocks on the door. On his way he passes the Kwik-E-Mart and stops to buy some donuts, while in the store Snake charges in and stages a hold-up. Homer runs out of the store and hides in a dustbin for a couple of hours. Realising he didn't pick up the kids and that Marge would be angry at him he has a few options. Hardships Homer must return home at some point and face Marge's anger. Outcomes Outcome 1: Homer goes to Moe's Tavern and gets extremly drunk returns home and finds Marge even more angry than she would have been and she files a divorce. Outcome 2: Homer returns home straight away, explains himself and Marge forgives him. Outcome 3: Homer goes straight home but tries to sneak in but is caught and Marge shouts at him for hours and he is locked in the house. Rewards If Marge forgives him then he gets a night of wild love-making and the free promotional Pokémon (:wurmple Lvl. 5)that came free in the post. (Hope these are all right :unsure ) |

I love them all. Next up, damage. Tohea's damage starts fairly simple; for a basic attack, divide the move's base power (serebii.net is EXTREMELY useful) by four; say, Tackle (pre-D/P) had 40 base power, so it'd do roughly 10 base damage here. Note the excessive use of "base" and "generally;" we recognize there are about 9 quintillion different things that could be happening to influence the attack. Since you're going to be staff, you'd damn well better be able to use them, too - hence, a (non comprehensive) list. Note that all multipliers... well, multiply. A weather bonus on top of STAB and SE would end up as a whopping 6x total damage, devastating the opponent. -STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus. 1.5x damage if pure-type, 1.25 if dual) -SE (Super Effective, 2x damage) -UE (Ultra Effective, 4x damage. Only applicable on dual-type targets) -NVE (Not Very Effective, 0.5x damage) -Weather (if the weather corresponds to the move's type, 1.5x damage) -Agility (Agility's effect on physical attacks is generally minor, but potentially devastating if used effectively) -Level difference (completely up to the ref, though I personally tend to add 1-3 damage per level, based on the attack's base power) -Species characteristics (Aggron is almost impossible to physically damage due to unpossibly hard exterior; Hoppip is held together by fluff and suck) -Various other stuff, depending on the situation. A downwards Tackle, assisted by gravity's effect, would do more damage than a horizontal one. Keeping all that fun stuffs in mind, have at you with some damage scenarios. All you have to do is figure out roughly how much damage the defending Pokémon (and the attacking Pokémon, if applicable) will take. level 5 uses Vine Whip on level 8 level 25 uses Psybeam on level 18 level 35 uses Fire Punch on level 72 level 50 uses Tackle on level 40 level 12 uses Tackle on level 8 level 7 uses Tackle on level 6 level 14 uses Icicle Spear on level 4

Ok here goes...
Base Damage - 35/4 = 8.75 STAB - 8.75*1.25 = 10.9375 UE - 10.9375*4 = 43.75 Level Difference - 43.75-5 = 38.75 Species Characteristics - 38.75-5 = 33.75 (for whipping a rock) Damage = 34 (maybe a couple to Bellsprout because it is whipping a rock)
Base Damage - 65/4 = 16.25 Level Difference - 16.25+10 = 26.25 Damage = 26
Base Damage - 75/4 = 18.75 STAB - 18.75*1.5 = 28.125 SE - 28.125*2 = 56.25 Level Difference - 56.25-37 = 19.25 Damage = 19 (Plus 40% chance of burn (Fire Punch and Flame Body))
No damage due to Haunter being Ghost and Normal attacks having no effect.
Base Damage - 35/4 = 8.75 NVE - 8.75*0.5 = 4.375 Level Difference - 4.375+6 = 10.375 Damage = 10
Base Damage - 35/4 = 8.75 NVE - 8.75*0.5 = 4.375 Level Difference - 4.375+2 = 6.375 Damage = 6
Base Damage - 10/4 = 2.5 Hits 5 times - 2.5*5 = 12.5 NVE - 12.5*0.5 = 6.25 Level Difference - 6.25+10 = 16.25 Damage = 16 Hope this is right :unsure |

Most we're done correctly. Shelldar's damage was a bit high, but you were close. Also, when Larvitar would hit the Geodude take into account Geodude's hard exterior, it would take minor recoil damage. But it's so bad to prevent you from moving on. Now, battling. Tohea's battle system can be difficult for those without a fair amount of practice, but that's what mod training is here for! For starters, being the ref is a bit different than being reffed in a battle; it depends on the individual ref, but you'll have to decide how the battle went in your head, stacking up the player's strategy against that of an average five year old. In theory it shouldn't be too hard, but there does seem to be a fair amount of "LOL TACKLE ATTACK." So much for faith in humanity. Uh, right, enough depressing speeches. So, to see if you know the basics of reffing battles, We'll give you a few scenarios, and see how you do. Note that there are no "right" and "wrong" ways for each scenario to play out, though major level differences, unless mitigated by flawless strategy, are generally lethal. Player or not, a level 5 Pokémon will usually lose to a level 12 based on the major experience difference. Smaller differences, such as a one or two level disparity, is far more dependent on strategy, though the higher level will still have a minor advantage. The first one of these pairs is the person for whom you're reffing. Follow the attacks ordered or planned below each one, and choosing for yourself how the other reacts/battles, where no order/expectation is applicable. Now, keeping in mind the last section of training, let's see how this goes! level 5 versus wild, rabid level 6Poochyena is ordered by its trainer to use an Agility + Agility + Tackle combination level 12 versus trainer's level 16, in Sunny weatherOddish has been ordered to use Solarbeam x2, whilst Geodude should Mud Sport to hide, then Rollout level 5 versus wild level 5Wild Pokémon RPer, using Scratch twice |

I don't understand, do I have to do this again????? Also Larvitar is a rock Pokémon as well so surely wouldn't take recoil damage???? |

No. That was a mistake on my part, however, Geodude does have a tough exterior, even if Rock, Larvitar would take minor recoil. You don't have to do it over, just this next part, I already updated the post. |

(Ok, thnks) Battle 1 Maybe it wasn't the best option you had to attack the obviously crazed Pokémon, but it can't be that hard can it. The Mankey raised its' fists in rage and charged towards Poochyena its' claws appearing from the closed fist. As it closed on Poochyena it launched itself through the air towards it. Luckily for you Poochyena had heard your command and had sped itself up with Agility and deftly avoided the attack. Picking itself off the ground the Mankey turned again and faced Poochyena. Poochyena charged forward and built up an incredible speed, two Agility's certainly gave it an advantage. The Mankey seemed to ready itself, as a specialist in physical fighting perhaps it did know what it was doing after all. Poochyena continued to race towards the Mankey and making itself as streamlined as possible to build up speed. Collision was inevitable. Just before collision though, in a blur of movement, the Mankey unleashed a Low Kick. Perhaps it wasn't that clever, I mean taking out a charging Pokémons legs as it raced towards you wasn't the best idea. As Poochyena slammed into Mankey, maybe not in the way you wanted, but it would still have done damage. Both Pokémon picked themselves up and faced each other again. Poochyena waited for your commands...... Lv 5 5/35 75% Lv 6 21/37 60%Kind of dazed from having a Pokémon land on top of it Battle 2 I'd say a sunny lakeside battle was just the right place for a Solarbeam or two. I mean it doesn't have to charge up or anything so it's perfect. As Oddish started collecting sunlight through the leaves sprouting from its head the opposing trainer realised what was happening. "Geodude use Mud Sport to hide from the Solarbeam and then Rollout to squash the little weed" Looking around the Geodude puzzled at the command. I mean it was a blistering hot day and there was no mud in sight. As Geodude tried to dig itself into the ground Oddish had collected enough sunshine and was about to release the powerful move. Geodude decided to act against it's trainers commands and just go for the Rollout. Speeding up and spinning violently towards the little weed the Rock Pokémon would obliterate the tiny little Pokémon if it hit. As it neared Oddish the small weed Pokémon finally realised its predicament, it wouldn't be able to get ite move off in time. Amazingly Oddish avoided the attack, one minute it was in the path of the Geodude and the next it was behind it. How could it have achieved that. Chlorophyll. Oddish's ability meant its speed was increased in sunlight and I think this day counted. A burst of light shot from the Oddish's head and smashed into the Rock Pokémon, it had stored the enrgy while avoiding and then just released it. I think it's safe to say that was quite an easy battle.... Lv 12 49/49 85% Lv 16 0/57 80%Fainted and absolutley PWNED Battle 3 An Abra, sleeping in the middle of the path, what a cowardly choice of target. I mean a sleeping Pokémon offers no threat what so ever. You ready your claws and prepared to attack creeping silently upon the Pokémon. Stealthily you approached the Abra but as your attack struck the Abra it disappeared. Maybe it did know you were coming but Teleported just a second to late. Looking around you tried to find any trace of the Pokémon. A rush of air behind you caused you to swerve and face the noise. A huge black blob was hurtling through the air towards you, not knowing what it was it smashed into you, hurling you backwards. Shadow Ball, maybe you shuold avoid it next time. Picking yourself up you ran towards the Pokémon and swiped at it with your claws, this time it was ready for you and neatly Teleported high into the surrounding trees to avoid you. Maybe this wouldn't be as easy as you thought..... Lv 5 15/35 80%![]() 25/35 65% |

Finally, it's time to put together everything you've (hopefully) learned into one final section; separated from the rest of this stuff partially as a final trial and partially because I couldn't decide where else to put it, general refs! Please note that by "general" I mean "any kind of ref you bloody well want," not some kind of codeword for Alien vs. Predator ripoffs... though, in fairness, I suppose you could do that if you wanted. Just give me three refs to show you actually have any idea what you're getting into, and don't do more than 1 battle ref in the three. They can be quest refs, travel refs, finding a wild Pokémon refs, or even death refs if you want. Seriously, as long as you do them well, I don't give two shits what they're about. |

Ref 1 The sun broke through the heavy cover of clouds that had been shadowing you all day, casting long shadows around you and your Pokémon. It was a nice change though, even if you despised the bright, happiness of it all. Making your way to Tauros Town was proving even more despicable than you had thought it would be. All you had wanted was a quick hike there and then to start working for the Black Roses. That was your life, which was all you had to depend on. You were broke; all your stuff stolen by some dumbass kid, all you had was Gastly. Trudging along the route, Gastly hardly even visible against the harsh sunlight, you wondered if this could get any worse. I mean you had been robbed, Gastly was close to fainting and this blasted sun was blisteringly hot. You continued to struggle down the route barely managing to stay on your feet, Gastly sinking lower and lower until the Pokémon was almost dragging itself along the ground. Suddenly the sun disappeared, blotted out from the sky by some obstruction in the road. Struggling to lift your head, you looked up at the obstruction. Two large Heracross stood in the way another bloody delay and trouble for you, which was all you needed. Just as they began picking at you, you passed out. ----------------------------------------------- You woke up what seemed to be minutes later, but judging by the darkness it was many hours later. You started to get up but had to grab a branch to stop yourself from falling from the tree in which you had been perched. Gastly did not seem to be with you and the Heracross were nowhere to be seen so maybe you could escape, or you could wait for them to return. It was your choice........ Ref 2 He held you softly in the rain, tenderly hugging you to his chest. Despite the torrential downpour it seemed like bliss. He was whispering words of comfort, of protection, and never wanting to let you go. Although he and you were drenched the world around you seemed to evaporate and you him seemed to be all that existed. Putting his arm round your shoulders he walked you down the street, still whispering words of love and care. He was your dream and the one you had been searching for, this was the best time of your life. Guiding you through the streets of Kadaraa, he seemed to know where he was going but you didn't care, as long as he was there you would be safe. His voice tightened suddenly, his tone changing, now begging for forgiveness. You finally took in your surroundings; you had left the main streets and were now wandering the back alleys. His face seemed to emit his plea for forgiveness as he continued guiding you through the streets. You struggled to break away, to run, but still he guided you. He turned into a derelict building guiding up the damp stairs and into a mouldy room. There was a man there; he seemed to be waiting for you. Slowly he rose and came across to you. "So you found her then," he said to Sean, who was now looking down at the ground with tears streaming from his eyes, "You knew it had to happen, she knows to much, she got in too deep." "Please," Sean begged, "Just do it quickly" "You know I can't, I have to teach her a lesson." Sean lunged at the man, knocking him backwards and into the wall. As soon as it started two large men burst into the room and grabbed Sean. They lifted him up like a sack of potatoes and carried him out of the room. You heard a thud as he was thrown down the stairs. You looked back to the other man who was picking himself off the ground and he slowly made his way towards you. You started backing off until you reached the wall; there was no escape now. Pulling a long knife from his pocket, he continued to advance towards you. He got closer and closer until he was pressed right up against you. An evil sneer on his face, he slowly brought the dagger to your throat. You could feel him throbbing against your leg as he slowly brought the dagger down slicing through your shirt. You realised what was going to happen and there was no escape. He had you now; you just had to pray it was over quickly. ------------------------------------------- An hour later, after he had finished, you were dumped in a mangy room in the building. There were no windows and the rain came through the roof. "I'll be back again," the man sneered as he left the room, the clear sound of him locking the door behind him. You had been defiled and he was going to do it again. You were probably going to die as well, but perhaps there was a chance, perhaps you could escape. It was up to you now........... Ref 3 It was beautiful, the lake seemed to reflect the pure beauty of nature. Calm yet seeming to emit an air of danger from it. Who knows what resided in the depths of the expanse of water but for know it was beautiful. You surfed across the lake on the back of your Lapras, taking in the amazing surroundings of the lake, gently cruising the water. This was the life, your Pokémon by your side as you explored the beauty of nature and lpumbed its secrets. The water rippled around you, dark shadows moving beneath you, seeming to circle you and your Lapras as you surfed across the lake. Lapras sped up, sensing danger it wanted to get out as fast as it could. Something was wrong. Looking behind you there wer four or five fins sticking up out of the water, quickly pursueing you and closing down fast. Suddenly they surfaced, five Sharpedo were after you, seeming intent on harming you or your Pokémon in some way. What would you do, you couldn't reach the shore before they got you and going in the water was maybe not sensible. So what would you do....... Lv 27 Lv 23 x4

...Well, okay, I think you win the award for having the first fake ref wherein someone gets raped. I've seen little girls playing jumprope with intestines, deathmatches against fat people, and Ronald McDonald killing people to preserve his secrets, but no rapes so far >_> As a token of that and the fact that everything else was great, welcome to modship! <3 Seriously, nice job. |
