Considering Bca-san's character is clearly gay, I take this as an insult towards women. >__>

As long as they're making me sammiches, yeah, let's do that "no insult" thing.

But Bcad can rot.

I can't believe the NERVE of every single one of you, especially Sark. What the hell happened to being able to request whoever they want? And do you absolutely HAVE to make fun of every goddamn thing that might seem out of the ordinary to you? I'm sure I could think of at least one thing to make fun of about every single one of you, but that doesn't mean I am going to go post it in a forum that the person I'm making fun of can't see! That's just plain rude, and I can't believe you willingly stooped so low. I can understand a bit of playing around, but this has gone too far. A damn Exploud with a bomb implanted in it? No, that's... you know what? Screw it. I'm getting out of this mess. If you guys want to screw over YET ANOTHER member, fine. Just don't make me a part of it.

With only $300 to spend, Gregori wasn't so sure the possibilities for blowing his money were endless. Not unless he hit some good thrift shops. Speaking of shopping, though, Gregori's parka was beginning to fall apart. There were holes in the pockets, and the hood's fur was hanging on by a small thread. At least it's warm, he thought. He just wished he had a scarf to wrap his face in. His nose was chilled, his chin frozen. He was pretty sure that the moisture in his eyes was solid. His ears were fine, as he had pulled the parka's hood over them. But cold is cold, and as he felt his mucus begin to solidify he decided he had better find a place to settle inside.

Just as this thought crossed his mind, he heard a cry ahead of him. A woman shrieked and nearly fell face-flat on the concrete. His heart leaped in excitement, his vision focused... he was, for some odd reason, entering panic. His heart rate continued to accelerate.

Then, to his surprise, out of the crowd flew a Rattata. It ran like havoc towards him, feet scurrying along the pavement. In the distance, Gregori could hear barking, but he wasn't paying attention...

The Rattata was scared, not combative. This put to rest Gregori's first instinct- to pull out Chloe's pokeball and prepare for a fight. Instead, he understood this to be an opportunity. A Poochyena came darting out of the crowd after the Rattata. This one was combative, obviously in hot pursuit of the rodent. Head clearing, epiphany rolling over him, Gregori planned his moves out fast. If this were to work, he would have to move quickly.

Pulling an empty pokeball from his pocket, Gregori crouched down in the Rattata's path.

"Hey," he whispered, "Come here! Come with me, and I'll keep you safe from guys like this."

A potential new partner was an exciting prospect for Gregori. To obtain his own Pokémon, instead of stealing it, would be extremely rewarding.

But he still had to address this bully.

Reaching into his pocket and withdrawing Chloe's pokeball, he said sternly, "Chloe! Let's take on this guy with pound!"

Lost in a Reverie
A human had crouched down into the Rattata's path. Screeching to a halt with a sharp "Ratta!" she began to scramble in a different direction, feeling as though she was purposefully being cornered. She wasn't blind, after all - she saw that fresh pokéball in your hand. But your words gave her a different impression. You wanted to protect her? Well, hey, she wasn't one to pass up an opportunity to stop and catch her breath. Ducking away from the empty pokéball, she instead chose the safety of the area just behind you, peeking out meekly at the Poochyena from between your legs.

Oh yes, there was still the issue of the Poochyena. She wasn't going to give up on her prey so easily, not with some newbie trainer standing in her way. "Poochy!" she growled at you, demanding that you get out of her way this instant... that is, when a cute pink pokémon materialized in front of her.

Chloe, your Clefairy, looked around brightly at her new surroundings. This wasn't your mom's house, but it seemed like a nice place. "Clefaaairyy~" the creature called out in a singsong voice, before remembering your commands. Floating daintily to the stray pup, she demurely reached out a hand (paw?) to strike at the creature... except that Poochyena neatly and easily dodged, leaving Chloe a little confused.

"Clefaai?" she asked, looking down at the empty space where her opponent once was. Spotting the Poochyena again not two feet away, she beamed and waddled to her, again reaching out with a slow Pound. Again, the canine hopped away.

"Yena, yena," the Poochyena sighed, rolling her eyes. She had been going easy on her since she was clearly a beginner at battling, but now she tired of this boring exchange and was ready to end it. She wasn't alone, either - the Rattata was watching exasperatedly from behind you, and had now resorted to calling out instructions herself.

"Ratta! Rattata rat attata!"

"Fairy?" Chloe turned, puzzled, to look at the Rattata, whom she hadn't even noticed prior to just now. The rat was trying to warn her fellow Normal-type of the impending Tackle attack - the Poochyena had moved away from the ditzy Clefairy and was now about to hit her.

"Ratta! Ratta! RATTA!"

"Clef, clef!" Chloe responded brightly, waving her arms all around in an energetic display. By sheer luck, Chloe had done this just in time to knock the dog upside the head with a paw, inadvertently using Pound. "Clefairy?" the little pokémon gasped in horror as she realized what she'd done. The Poochyena, meanwhile, stumbled away in a daze. The uppercut had momentarily caused her vision to blur, and the world was spinning.

"Ratta! Rattata ratta!" This time, the Rattata was shouting up at you. This dizziness wouldn't last long, and you needed to call out another attack for Chloe before she sustained some real damage.

Gregori seemed to know exactly what Rattata was trying to tell him. The Poochyena was dizzy for the moment, but the state wouldn't last very long. If he was going to act, he needed to act now.

Aware know that there was no avoiding the crowd's attention, no matter how much he wanted to avoid it, Gregori didn't bother keeping his voice down. He felt himself blush, he had never liked limelight. But this was his opportunity to prove himself, even if it was to no one but him. He could make it as a trainer, he knew it. Here, he could potentially catch two Pokémon... An exciting prospect, to be honest. Although they were both normal-type Pokémon, Gregori wasn't worried. He could train them to be stronger than any other type of Pokémon. Anyway, wasn't that what he was already doing with Chloe?

"Chloe, come on! Again with Pound, while she's distracted! Then use Growl to lower her attack!"

Hoping this was a good combination of moves, Gregori glanced down at Rattata. The poor thing had been scared out of its mind...

Gregori felt like crossing his fingers through his cut-off glove-mittens. He resisted, deciding instead to put his faith in his Pokémon. Chloe could do it, she was perfectly capable.

Come on, Chloe. I know you can get the job done!

OOC: Poochyena = Dark-type lolwut?
---

"Clefaiiiry~" Chloe waved at you with glee as you called out to her, apparently oblivious that you were trying to give her useful commands. At this point it was questionable whether she actually understood that she was taking part in a battle, much less what one was. She did, however, seem absolutely delighted that you had spoken to her. Or maybe she just recognized her own name. Was it just me, or was this pokémon getting slower by each passing moment?

In any case, she eventually remembered what she was supposed to be doing, and reached out with yet another hour-long Pound, but by this time, the Poochyena had already recovered from her dizzy spell and had timed it just right so that as Chloe's hand-like paw appendage thing came down through empty air, the Poochyena lunged forward to close her teeth on the Clefairy's soft flesh.

"FAII!" the little pink creature squealed, completely shocked by the actions of the canine. It was like she didn't realize that she deserved this nasty bite for the uppercut from earlier. "FAII! FAIII!" She seemed to be crying out to you, her little button eyes filling with tears. This wasn't so fun anymore, was it?

"Oh, that poor Clefairy!" A young girl of around nine was standing by your side, watching the battle. "It's umm, really cute, but it doesn't seem too smart. Umm, can I help, mister? Cause umm... maybe it doesn't know what you're saying, so maybe umm... you could show it what to do... Can I try, mister?" She looked up at you with deep brown eyes and a hesitant smile, then turned to Chloe. "Clefairy! Watch me, watch me!" The little girl began to wave her arms all around, like Chloe had done just before her accidental punch.

"Fairy?" the little Clefairy sniffled, rubbing her eye with her free hand as she watched the little girl. Glancing nervously back at you, she slowly began to move her arms up and down, getting faster and faster until they were in sync with the child's. The Poochyena, stubbornly holding on, was swung up and down, hitting the ground repeatedly until she was forced to let go. "Pooch..." the pup grumbled, getting to her feet. This pink chubby thing was more of a challenge than she expected. Maybe this wouldn't be so easy after all...

"See? Like that!" the little girl exclaimed, beaming up at you. She seemed really happy to have helped you. "My name's Lindy! What's yours?" Being right about your pokémon, who was now clearly a visual learner, had given the child a boost of confidence to talk to you. With precocious cleverness like that, this girl might become a great pokémon trainer herself someday. Surely you wouldn't shrug her off?

OOC: oops... Gregori's bad :P

---

Lindy was a lifesaver, and Gregori wasn't about to shrug her off. Besides, he liked children. Er... enjoyed children? Gregori was no kind of pedophile, he just got along well with younger folk. Back in Celadon, he had a four-year-old neighbor who was constantly playing in his yard. Gregori joined him on more than one occasion, and had had a better time than he usually had with boys his own age. Besides, this girl was extremely helpful. Gregori looked down at her, beaming.

"Lindy, was it? Thank you... bunches."

He hadn't forgotten her last quetsion, but the battle was still going strong. Chloe was indeed a bit... slow... probably a stereotype for Clefairies. Gregori couldn't be sure. But he was sure of one thing: he would have to act out each of his commands until Chloe began to understand them. Kind of a training. After all, he was a trainer, wasn't he?

"Chloe, Growl!"

Gregori knew he would look like a fool. He knew if anyone he knew saw this, they would never let him live it down. But this battle was important; it was his first. So he screwed up his face to make it look as cute as possible... and growled. A cute, gurgling growl that came from his throat. He kept one eye on Lindy, hoping in the back of his mind that she was amused.

"And after that," he called, "Pound!" He threw his arms up and down in the air like Lindy had done. Smiling down at her, he whispered,"C'mon, help me out here!"

He turned back to the battle, keeping his eyes on both Chloe and the Poochyena. He hadn't forgotten about the Rattata, either, and he glanced down at her every now and then to make sure she was alright.

"By the way," he whispered to Lindy, as to not draw Chloe's attention from the battle, "I'm Gregori."

Lindy giggled at your cute thank you. I mean, bunches? It would make anyone lawl. "You're very welcome!" she replied brightly.

"Ratta, ratta!" the Rattata called up from beside your leg, greeting the little girl.

"Hi there, little mousie!" the girl exclaimed, crouching down to get closer to the Rattata's eye level and tentatively extended a hand to pet it. "Is she yours, too? They're all so cute!"

"Rat..." The feral rodent's voice trailed off, having been about to correct the girl that she was wild and no pokémon of yours, but she was rather swayed by the affectionate petting she was receiving, and decided it wouldn't hurt for the child to think that.

"Nice to meet you, Greggy!" Lindy called up to you, beaming and giggling and being a little girl and what have you as she stood up straight.

Meanwhile, your embarrassment at acting out commands wouldn't last long. After all, not only were you acting them out, but you were saying the name of the move along with it. Soon, before you knew it, Chloe would be able to make that connection herself. Lindy and the Rattata both turned to watch, as Chloe in turn watched you growling. The Poochyena, who had by now begun a running Tackle attempt, screeched to a halt as she found the Clefairy standing there, swaying cutely and making gurgly growling sounds, almost a perfect imitation of yours.

"Pooch?" she blinked, tilting her head in puzzlement. What on earth was it doing now? ...And why did she feel less of a desire to fight all of a sudden?

"Fairy, fairy fairy faiiirryyyy~" Chloe sang out, waving at you with a paw and bouncing on her heels, obviously pleased that she'd done it right, and pointing out her success to you. By this time, you were already showing her to Pound the Poochyena -- but she'd done this before, so she nodded eagerly before continuing to sing. "Clefairy clef, fairy clef..."

Annoyed by this cutesy singsong nonsense, Poochyena shook herself out of her docile state and lunged forward at the Clefairy, ramming into her. Now, normally this sort of attack would at least send the puffball flying for a few feet, but her somehow lessened energy had caused it to only tip the Clefairy onto her ass. "Pooch!" she barked in frustration.

Meanwhile, Chloe only smiled up at her opponent, still gleeful with the success of earlier. "FAIRY FAIRY FAIIIIRY~" she sang extremely loudly, startling the canine before slamming into her with a series of lighter but energetic Pounds. The end result? The Poochyena stumbled away, looking dizzy, and collapsed a foot away from her opponent, who looked ever the more pleased with herself.

Now was the time. Would you catch this Poochyena, and add her to your team (giving Chloe only half the normal experience points)? Or knock her out and give the full experience to your sweet Clefairy? If you were the type that would ask a friend to help you decide, well, Lindy was completely for you catching it, but the Rattata was rather against it, having been antagonized by it only a little while ago. However, remember that the decision is up to you, and you alone.

Somehow Chloe was managing to successfully beat this Poochyena into submission. Poochyena had collapsed not a foot from Chloe. The poor thing looked exhausted and sore, thanks to Chloe's ass-kicking. She had done extremely well, considering that she didn't understand most of the commands Gregori had given her.

Thanks to the helpful suggestion of Lindy, Gregori had managed to demonstrate the moves for Chloe enough that she understood what to do. After Chloe's growl was successful (as far as Gregori could tell), his embarrassment was replaced with excitement. Excitement at the prospect of, perhaps, defeating (or catching) this Pokémon. His first Pokémon battle... was going pretty well.

Now it was time to make a decision.

Lindy (and Gregori's mind, for that matter,) was for him catching the injured Poochyena. Admittedly, Poochyena would be a fantastic addition to his team of 1. A strong, dark-type Pokémon would help him out a lot. He could train Chloe and Poochyena side-by-side, leveling them up at the same rate... he could have a Normal-type (and cute!) Pokémon right next to a Dark-type (and menacing) one. He could easily play the good trainer, bad trainer routine.

On the other hand, it wouldn't exactly be Poochyena's decision to come with Gregori. By catching it, he was making the decision for her. And she might not like that. She could give him trouble, have an attitude, and rain on his parade. But there was a chance she would be willing to come along, be co-operative. '

But, and it's a big but, thought Gregori, if he caught Poochyena, Rattata might refuse to join him. And that would be a big loss. Having a Pokémon choose to come with him would form a strong bond between them.

So, Rattata (and Gregori's heart) was for knocking out that blasted dog and moving on with life. Chloe would gain all of the experience from the battle. Rattata would be safe from the menace. And Gregori would become partners with Rattata. He could potentially raise the rodent Pokémon into a Raticate, and have an extremely strong Normal-type. But if conditions were bad, and Gregori caught no other Pokémon on his journey... that would leave him with two Normal-types, and no variety in type match-ups.

So Gregori was stuck. Head versus heart. But Gregori had made a decision. He looked down at the Rattata and smiled.

"Well, girl, I hate to put you in this position. But I hope you'll still join me, we could be great friends..."

He shifted his gaze upward and smiled at Lindy.

"Ready?"

He reached a hand into his parka pocket and shuffled around for a moment before withdrawing a small, white-and-crimson sphere. He pressed the button on the front, maximizing the ball. He took a deep breath.

Ready or not, here we go...

Gregori swung his arm in an arc over his head and released the ball.
