Non-Weekly Quote:
(Updated when the fancy strikes us)
"I do not think there is any thrill that can go through the human heart like that felt by the inventor as he sees some creation of the brain unfolding to success... such emotions make a man forget food, sleep, friends, love, everything." - Nikola Tesla

A New Beginning
By: Doctor Doom

BEEEP…BEEP…BEEEP! What time is it now? 4…am…Jesus Christ…what is it this time. I thought to myself as I rolled over across my mattress. Picking up my phone and looking at the display, it was an unknown number. What the hell do you want? I thought to myself, before putting the rumble to rest and silencing it. However, something strange occurred to me as instead of silencing it, I opened the phone and answered it.

Hello?
Hello…is this Jake Schade?
Yes. Who’s this?
Sir, I am Sergeant Tom Moore, from the Kadaraa Police, stationed on Tohea.
Tohea? That’s where Justin is....
Yes sir, I am calling to inform you, we found your brother murdered in the cities’ hospital. He was found, with a bullet in the side of his head, along with his neck broken, sitting in a wheelchair. Right now we are looking for the shooter, and are having no luck so far. The person left no clues what so ever. I’m sorry sir, if you wish to come to Tohea, you can pick up his things at the Police Station.
Yeah…thanks.

That’s when it hit me. My little brother was killed in cold blood. Quickly, throwing off my covers of my bed, I threw some pants on and went into my mom’s room. Throwing open the door, I flipped the light on. Trying to hide the emotions, I tried to be strong. However, when I saw my mother’s face, I busted into tears. They say you should only cry, when things are at the absolute worst they could be. Standing at the foot of her room, I leaned up against the door frame and let it out. Not even releasing a word, my mother got out of bed, and grabbed me.

Honey…what’s wrong?
It’s Justin…he was murdered.
Come on now, you have to be brave. He would have stood strong for you if he was in your shoes.

My mom was braver than I. Justin was not only my little brother, but he was my best friend. We did everything together, even though we were 8 years apart. She pressed her hands against the back of my head as I went into her shoulder and just cried. I could feel her heavy breathing, and even a tear fall from her eye but no crying. She refused to show any emotion, and has done it since our father died.

That night, soon turned into morning. The word got out quickly, some how. It seemed like we couldn’t no more than sneeze without someone coming up to us and giving us their condolences. The both of us appreciated every little bit, It really showed how many people cared, but it seemed to be every single person. The kids who picked on him, his best friends, his teachers, the guy across the street who hit him with a car last summer, everyone… What really got me was how a 13 year old could be murdered in cold blood. Justin had to of done something really stupid to get himself killed. I guess I would soon find out.

Packing my backpack with my needed items, I headed out the door. My mom by my side, she opened the door to the car as I got in. Following me, she got into the drivers seat as we headed out. The car ride was silent; my mom just continued driving to the docks, as I leaned my head against the glass. The vibration of the road on the window was making my head rattle. What was I really supposed to say? I was still choked up that my brother was murdered. There were no clues, except the bullet. The 45 millimeter silver lined bullet that was put into the side of my brother’s head. It was still hard thinking about it I guess these things are really never easy to think about it.

Minutes turned into hours, and the car ride finally seemed to end. The boat was now in view as we stopped at the parking lot. Walking up to the counter we picked up the ticket that the Police sent us. My mom stopped as I continued to walk, turning around she froze in her tracks. Tears were coming down her face as she couldn’t help but cry. I don’t blame her though, her youngest was murdered, and now her only child left, was leaving the roost. Walking back…quickly, I ran over and hugged her tightly.

“This is for the greater good mom. Know that. His killer will be found and brought to justice. I promise you mom…”
“I know Jake, I know hunny. Please be safe.”
“I will…I love you mom.”
“I know Jake. I love you too.”

And with that I couldn’t let go. Her arms released from my back as I still was latched across her front. I didn’t want to let go, but several minutes later finally would. Turning around once again, I walked upon the boat. The guards there quickly rushed me inside as they released the ropes and pulled up the Iron Gate. The mega horn of the boat sounded and the boat began to move. Farther and farther from the docks... but closer and closer to Tohea. Running to the deck, I stared at my mom who was now in tears. I had to be strong for her; I couldn’t let the best of me get to me. It wouldn’t happen, not today.

Arrival of Tohea
