The best damn thing

The pitter patter of steps over the rumbling of thunder was barely audible, but it was certainly there, and the source of the sound, a girl about knee high, drenched in the comings of the weather, stalked along the paven road. Adorn with a dark raincoat, one thats color could barely be seen in the downpour of rain, but was very black. A large bulge hit within the coating along her abdomen, where her arms were hidden. The bulge was too big to be just her arms; it was a Pokémon. Curious bypassers twirled and stopped to get a glimpse of the mystery creature, but none had seen whatever was so bundled up. Whatever it was, the woman, Who seemed to be in her early twenties, looked worn by the weather and from lack of food and water, made well to keep it so hidden. She seemed oblivious to the others passing her, seemingly focused on something far in the distance.

A better look at her, a person could see silvery white locks and eyes dark as the sky, tinted a bit red. Her eyes were circled and underlined with dark marks, and her eyes were pained with red. Bangs were grown long, and tied into odd looking, cross bands. From the looks of her greasy hair, she hadn't bathed in a while. She continued down the path with an odd intensification on whatever was coming up to her left. The bundle within her clothing began to squirm, and she looked down apon it with a harsh look before mumbling something, not in English, to the abscess. The bundle gave up its plight at once, becoming still almost instantly. The girl looked troubled after this, looking forward a bit more nervously after this.

She was marching up a hill on a neat sidewalk, while paven crudely with various potholes and rotting foliage. This was the street leading into Ayer from the East, and although those who reside along the street often complain about the noise and hazards of this, the city has never made an attempt to change this. The smell of rotting fish and salt was sticky in the air, all the side effects of the beach without the beach. The houses built alongside the road had various types of palm trees and tropical plants adorning their lawn. It would be a 45 minute walk to the beach, rarely does anyone walk into Ayer for anything else. It was an extremely tourist-aimed town, and its rather hard to even find a market alongside the rows of tourist shops.

After what seemed a long time, the girl approaches what seems to be a bustling city. The streets are much less crude now, various Ayer residents pass on their bikes. Walking with confidence and without stopping, she heads straight for the Town Square. Whatever she desired here she had visited many times.

Hanging from the door to a rather small log cabin, nailed haphazardly, was a sign welcoming you to Lori's Inn of the town Ayer. Breathing with what seemed to be relief, she walked much faster than she had towards the Inn, ripping the door open with eagerness as the Pokémon within her coat began to stir again. This time; however, it didn't seem to bother her. The sky was so darkened and the rain so heavy, it look as if the sky was falling to those inside the Inn as she opened the door. Once inside, she closed it quickly, as if it might follow her in.

Food. The girl thought in the back of her mind sourly, Bed and food.

"
Great to see you, April," A older woman stalked towards the girl with white locks with a warming smile. "I thought I told you not to call me that," April snapped back moodily, holding a grim smile. Her eyes bore into the sagging skin of the older woman, Lori, so much so that her smile disappeared completely.

"
Ah, yes, Moshii then." Lori spoke quietly as to not bring attention to herself, knowing it was better to leave her young counterpart alone for the time being, even if she strongly disapproved of her other name. Moshii didn't seem to notice Lori's concern at the moment, but was too preoccupied unzipping her drenched long coat with a scowl. Others in the room seemed inept with their own business, some using the only available Wi-fi for miles, others reading the local news, and a group of girls about Moshii's age chattering enthusiastically among themselves.

After a bit of a struggle, Moshi had managed to release the coats grip. Sighing blantantly, she fell back in a chair, followed by the mysterious lump that had been hiding so well under it. Stepping gracefully over its soggy shield, a Flareon emerged, looking quite as tired of the bad weather as her trainer. Each of its legs were wrapped up in 20 so various black belts with little arrangement, many of the belts overlapped each other. Two black, plastic rings were latched the Pokémon's lip, spaced from each other like a snake's fangs. Flareon's ears were weighed down by the rings and barbells adorned to it. Various people in the room gaped at it with part disgust, part intrest, while others whispered about it. The Flareon paced to its owner that had collapsed in the arm chair, leaping to the chair next to it with ease. Stroking her Pokémon, Moshii looked up at Lori again, sensing she wished to talk. The older woman spoke quickly, as if she knew what the young woman was thinking.

"
If you're looking for Lachesis, she left Ayer couple days ago, I heard. Didn't say where she was heading, not that much of a sh-"

"Did I say I was looking for her, hun?" Moshii said darkly, stroking the Flareon who now seemed a bit uncomfortable with her trainer. Lori; however, looked much more uncomfortable than the Pokémon, and one couldn't blame her with April Inoue looking so sadistic. Breaking the tension, the teenager suddenly yawned, looking completely unconcerned with Lori's worried expression. She leaned forward, drawing herself closer to Lori's aged face, that looked suddenly beyond her years.

"Sorsha. Sorsha Medevil."

When I'm gone

"Raito, we're going."

Moshii left her room early, leaving her bed seemingly unslept upon because she had passed out on top of it without even taking off the spread. Raito, her Flareon, would much rather stay and sleep in her cozy arm chair included in the room, but she acknowledged her trainer had places to go, things to do-

People to kill.

She knew Lori enough, and if Lori knew Moshii at all she knew that she wouldn't dare ask her to pay. She was out on business, although the Artemis Basque would certainly pay for the room for her, because of her Elite Hunter status. Of course, the girl much prefered saving money and causing trouble for the old Inn keeper rather than that alternative.

Once she had raided the all you can eat buffet (and left it almost empty), Moshii headed out into the bustling town of Ayer. Street lights were hung in case of another storm, candles within them glowing strongly. The ground was paven with tropical looking tiles- probably to amuse the tourists into thinking their having a real island experience. She snorted dryly at the thought. No, she had never been to Ayer as a tourist- always for business, particularly for the AB, or Artemis Basque. This was another business trip, mind you.

The rain had stopped, although various puddles sprung up here and there. Raito walked alongside her master freely, now that the weather had subsided. It didn't damage a Flareon to be out in the rain, it was just... Extremely unappealing to them. Today, a white, rather cheap looking gown adorned her figure. Her face was bright and hair clean, showing signs of a good night at Lori's. A few guys passed her longing looks on the street, which she returned with a smile. The rest of the AB referred to her as "The Basque's one and only slut", and Moshii enjoyed their company so much it didn't bother her. A real family wasn't exactly something she had, or would ever go back to.

Hell, Mum and Dad probably already adopted some Chinese kid, Moshii thought churlishly. Moshii was boiling with so much unspeakable hatred for her old family, that she left of her own will, that she had almost walked completely past the walk-down to the beach. Flareon had yipped, and thats the only reason Moshii did walk off down the street she had come on a day earlier. Turning with a warm smile for her companion, she raised the Pokémon to her chest as she walked by, planting a thank you kiss on its cheek before placing it on the beach beside her.

The sand was so heavily walked apon that she sunk in ditches from other's feet with every step, and the woman wasn't very short. Flareon lept in front of her, displaying her superior jumping skills and showing up her master. Moshii shouted after her in Russian to stay close by as Flareon circled to return to her side. A team of girlish and weak Pokémon, it was a suprise she had made the team to most. Those few hadn't ever faced her in battle, however. There was a reason she was considered an "A level threat" in 3 regions. In the criminal community, she was known as a superior fighter who gives off a wrong impression- those who challenge her see soon enough.

After an hours walk, and many stumbles, she approached what seemed to be the end of the good beach. The sand was much softer here, but one wouldn't dare go out into the sea, as the waves were tall and fierce, with many rocks along the shore. A few yards from the shore line, the elevation rises much higher, and if one was to take a route up the hill and to the left, he would se a rather green cliff that protruded into the water, looking quite foresty. Panting slightly, Moshii made her way up the slope that from closer inspection looked suspiciously man made. She turned at the tip, heading for the forested area apon the cliff.

As she approached, through the trees she could observe two figures with gold skin. The closer she came, the more obvious it became that the creatures were Pokémon- Kadabra. Both were standing around a fire with an eerie green glow, making it more than obvious they had used some sort of psychic abilities to do so. "I thought Tobias had told them specifically, 'No blowing :censored up with up with your minds'." Moshii whispered with a strong ping of annoyance in her voice. Flareon didn't seem to be bothered by the opposing Pokémon or their fire, she looked more bored than anything else, as if this had become routine.

Moshii made her way up to them, both Pokémon seemed intense on each other, surely they were communicating through their minds between themselves. One of the Pokémon was holding a stake, a punctured Rattata was plastered on. Blinking almost stupidly, the one holding the meal took a savage bite out of it. Moshii felt her lip contort a bit in disgust, but succeeded in washing it away. The fair-haired woman held her hand up in greeting, Flareon following Moshii with her eyes more than usual.

"I'm going to need you to take me across, gatekeepers."

No breathing

"
Well then, Human. You know the procedure." The left one spoke, the one with the charred Rattata in it's teeth. The voice was within Moshii's head, only being heard by Moshii. It was an odd sensation, the voice sounded charming, like a young mans, but like an echo. Her head always felt tingly afterwards, as it was now, so she shook her head lightly. The two Pokémon didn't seem to notice her unease. It wasn't like she hadn't been through the "procedure", Moshii just hated dealing with them; and, more importantly, them being in her head. The two Kadabra's exchanged glances, before the one with free hands approached Moshii, it's eyes examining her carefully.

Are you ready, human?

It's Moshii, you should know me- and yes. Moshii thought with a bit of unease- she never understood how people could stand Pokémon in their heads like that, knowing everything they knew. The thought of something all-knowing like that made her stomach turn. She was apparently showing signs of sickness externally, too, as the Kadabra cocked his head. Noticing his gesture, without speech she nodded quickly, and the creature looked deep into her eyes, and her into his. It sounded like a love story. Moshii's head suddenly felt tight, like someone was taking her blood pressure by her head. It tightened, then relaxed- the worse part was coming.

Her eyes stung as she saw her entire 22 years flash before her, strongest memory's included sound, incidently. It was a stong feeling, impossible to over come. An entrie like this could make grown men crumble. While this was happening, her eyes didn't seem to blink, as theyt stung like a sharp wound she yelped a bit. Moshii swore on her life she'd never get used to it.

Gyarados...

A girl, only 13 or 14, shot into a forest. Pokémon ran from her sides, dashing away with protest. The teenager didn't seem to care- or she couldn't. She was drenched in water and sweat, choking on tears as she ran. She tripped, fell to the ground and her knee bled all over her white clothing.

Blood, drenched in blood, she sat crying against a the stump of a tree, the moon looked suddenly red, or maybe it was just blood. She had never felt the burn of running so hard in her life, barely moving her limp-

Gasping for breath, her whole was bent down, hands clutching her knees as they were about to give way. Flareon shot her a concerned look, then another look back at the Kadabra, who almost seemed to have a bit of pity for her. After a profuse silence, he broke into her feeble mind again.

Ready to leave, April of the Inoue Family?

Panting like a sick dog, Moshii didn't have the energy to correct him. She barely managed a nod, and the Kadabra stalked behind her, and it took her a minute to realize she had to gather her Pokémon. She barked something hoarsly to the Flareon in French, and Raito leapt into her shaking arms. Kadabra, sensing all was in order, placed it's arms over her heaving chest tightly, not before Moshii could swing around to comment ("Naughty Pokémon!"), followed by a low growl from the gatekeeper, which Moshii took to mean for her to keep her mouth shut if she didn't want to end up in the middle of the ocean.

Growing impatient, the Pokémon didn't take the time to warn Moshii they were teleporting, and as she felt her body flake away, she sworn she heard a chuckle from the other Kadabra. For a split second, everything was white and she was alone, before she felt herself falling to the organic, wet floor of the island of Tohea, Togea. Wiping her face of sweat, she turned to ask the gatekeeper about what she had seen while teleporting, but he was gone. Flareon too was feeling a bit aggitated of being dumped in the wet. Raito's look of pure distaste made a slight giggle cross Moshii, suprising both of them. She hadn't laughed since Dave put a Magikarp in the brand new watercooler- a long time ago, obviously, as Moshii is no longer fatally retarted enough to piss off Onri.

Thinking deeply, she rose and brushed herself off, Raito following. She was surrounded by trees and bushes, various tropical bird Pokémon brushed by her on the way to the Artemis Basque headquarter. Approaching a large tunnel, Another set of a gatekeepers come into view. Cursing under her breath, she prayed they would know her and let her pass without incident. Fortunately, it happened to be the pair she had used a few weeks ago, who remembered her kindness (or lack there of) and only searched her memories a few months past. Whipping past them, she decided she had to have a word with Onri about these annoying guards every where.

Now in a bad mood and cursing under her breath, she turned the corners of the base sharply, bumping into many who give her nasty looks. The base was underground, held steady by steel bars they had inported months back. The base was large and growing complicated, Moshii almost made a wrong turn at Zero's office. Raito and Moshii had gotten seperated for a few minutes, and through sheer luck found each other nearest the healing center.

Moshii fumbled into the pockets of her white gown, men passing by giving her dirty grins. She managed to find her Hello Kitty wallet through the mass of lint, and pulled out her AB Key Card. She smiled sweetly at her picture plastered on the card- she looked very nice the day the picture was taken. Twisting her wrist in an attempt to get the card to face the right direction, she ran the card down the reader that was nailed to the wall next to the automatic door. It beeped cutely, before stating her name in a deep voice "Moshii". The door threw itself open, Raito leaping into the room, followed by the fair woman.

A man was busy typing away at a computer, but that quickly changed the second he spotted Moshii. "
Ah! Moshii, Ma'am!" He struck a military salute, but Moshii only smiled warmingly at him. The room was one of the few wallpapered and decorated, beige with light shaded desks holding plants placed sparingly around the couches and chairs, that looked very comfortable (and were). There were 3 steel machines- the ones you see in a Pokémon center. The man was behind a very acutely cut counter, that looked really nice with a bonsai tree near his computer. You could see the door to the back room behind him- it also required key card.

"
Your Lapras is right here, Ma'am. We successfully modified her defensive abilities," The man told her, Moshii noticing a bit of pride in his voice. He handed her another Pokeball, red and white in color and shining strongly. Moshii couldn't help but smile a bit- they even waxed the ball without asking! Definately beat the Pokecenter. Of course, the Pokecenter wouldn't do illegal modifications to your Pokémon.

A simple thanks graced her lips before she turned, white locks whipping behind her, and stalked from the room in a particularly good mood.

Rest in me

Hours later, Moshii walked along the populated streets of Kadaara, people brushing past her as they walked. Her open shoulders were red and sore from the bumping, Moshii rubbed them gingerly as she came quickly apon Kadaara's gym. The city was much more north than Ayer, no where near the beach, and with all the pollution perhaps thats a good thing. The city was horribly over crowded and crime was high- not exactly a place for tourists. Taxi's honked and people were talking loudly, homeless children stole something from a shop every now and then.

Yawning casually, Moshii decided she'd had a good day today, besides the gatekeepers. She turned a street corner, getting a couple flashy looks from some street goers. A smile graced her lips as she rose her head to look at the enormous Kadaara gym. "They certainly know how to do things right in Kaadara," Moshii commented to no one in particular, Raito's ears perking up at her masters voice. When the Flareon turned to her, she quickly shook her head, indicating it was nothing.

Moshii approached the building, tall and painted a nice light beige. There was a sign by the entry that caught Moshii's attention, causing her to walk towards it and place her hands around it. It was glass, and ingraved in the middle of the plate was a name.

Sorsha Medevil, Electric Gym Leader and land holder.

Smiling darkly, her fingers curved around the sign as she thought of the chase of battle once more. She wasn't only in the base to retrive her Lapras, but to get directions to the Kadaara gym from Onri. She let the sheet of paper in her hand that she had been following fall back into her gown's pocket. Flareon, sensing her owner's excitement, let her mane of flames act up, consuming her face and making her eye's shine yellow. Moshii practically skipped to the door, as it opened for the approaching being. Too bad the automatic door didn't know what April Inoue was about to do to it's owner.

She flashed into the room, Raito leaping behind her. She was going fast now, approaching the front of the room. The gym was adorn with various lighting rods and ornaments, all to help an electric Pokémon survive. Sliding to a stop near a set of stairs, she met eyes with her prey, Sorsha. The leader was silent, looking at her with no particular expression. This angered Moshii a bit, as she always liked to see a good reaction. She swooped up the stair, Raito trailing her with ease. As she emerged from the case of stairs, Moshii noted her surroundings. The ceiling was very high up, made of glass that seemed easy to penetrate, perhaps for use of the sky's thunder. How creative, Moshii thought dully, ignoring the situation at hand.

Sorsha was placed in an arm chair, the same beige as the room, that looked almost like a thrown. Moshii sneered as she rose. The gym leader looked hard at Moshii, as if examining her for ticks.

"
I take it you're here for the Basque."
"Nothing slips past you, does it, hun?"
"
My allegance to the guard is none of your concern, childish pawn. I will defeat you like the others they sent."
"Oh, really? I'm not like the other weaklings."
"
And why is that? Why should I think of you any more so than the others?"
"I understand your feelings; but prehaps you'll reconsider as you bleed at my feet."
"
Talk is nothing, let's get started if you are assured of your victory so well, best not to waste time."
"As you wish."

Their intese gaze's broke apart, both preparing for the battle ahead. Moshii reached for her belt of Pokeballs she latches to her thigh, pulling 3 from it. From what she knew, the leader had only 2 Pokémon, and she was so sure of her victory she was going to play by the rules. "Raito," Moshii spoke rather loudly, so Medevil would know she was recalling her Pokémon.

"Come back."

Raito would have protested if he hadn't disappared in the flash of light so fast. Sorsha made a soft sigh from her side, both of her Pokémon were already called. Perhaps she assumed Moshii was sending out something stronger, but this was hardly the case. Holding the two remaing Pokeball's, she tapped their center lightly, sending two figures out in a blaze of light.

A Lapras and Vaporeon faced the opposing team.

Sorsha looked as if she was witholding a guffaw, Moshii noticed. The woman's smile widened, tossing one of the Pokeballs in the air and catching it cooly.

"Yeah, I'm going to beat the Electric Gym Leader with water Pokémon."
