Journalist/TV Reporter

City: Ayer, Riverwood, Kadaraa

We all know there have been some big time stories in Tohea in recent weeks. With Munch killing a bunch of cops in front of the Pokemart, to the death of my character in the hospital. Even the incline in crime has risen quite in the recent weeks/months. Roll, being dragged into Loris in Ayer to only be found out to be in a comma... What better job to have than to cover these stories up close and in person.

This could also raise the popularity of the TV station in Tohea, weither it be National station or a city based station. So far I know of one station, and that was encountered in my journey near the beginning as I was in the hospital...

Because this job can't just go to any old given person this is why there are Job Pre-Reqs:
Must be able to have a non-camera shy presence.
There could be thousands watching at any given time, you can't crack under presure.
Must be able to handle themselves in the face of a dangerous situation. IE: You may be covering the sighting of a Team Rocket headquarters. If they find you, you may be up for a battle or two. You must be able to defend yourself properly. Course this may not always be the situation but could be one.
Must be able to record what they did, in a journal and present a weekly summary via phone/email/face to face meeting with the boss. Because the boss wants to see what you have been doing if you expect to be paid
Must have a good interviewing personality
Because interviewing is half the battle during broadcasting

Pay: Negotable based on ratings and story. Face it you aren't going to get the same amount for covering the fall of a gym leader than you are if you covered the death of a well known criminal mastermind.

This is what i have so far. Thoughts, input, critisim please.

I dont think that would work with Tohea's system. With the reffing system, by the time we get somewhere exciting, whatever happened would be over. And we wouldn't have heard of it. Reporters would have to always be at the right place at the right time.

The less press, the better for TR -_-

That said, from a less... biased standpoint, it's a very good idea, though it'd need some thought to avoid what Bee brought up.

I think it's a nice idea, in fact I'm very fond of it. It may not be feasible to actually try to cover RPC events (unless pre-planned), but I think that it'd be easy to just cover stories generated by the use of simple NPCs. It wouldn't be needed for actual players to sit down and watch TV, but the general population of Tohea would, so it would still be a paying job.

I also think that it could be made to center more around Pokémon, like you would work for say, "Pokémon Planet" (Yes, a play off of animal planet) or "TPNS" (Tohea Pokémon News Station). Then perhaps the journalist/reporter could receive a Pokémon along with the job.

Anyhow, it is a very interesting premise, and IMO very workable.

The time thing isn't an issue for part of his argument... He said that they could cover stuff like Z's death (obviously not gonna be there at the right time) and how Munch killed police officers (not was killing- killed).

Maybe, though, if you really want to get there by the time the stories hadn't died, a Mach bike could be something that all journalists get, and if they keep the job for three months, they can get the bike. That's a nice incentive, in my opinion.

Update:

With much thought, I have figured out a resonable idea for news stories.

Eventually in whatever town you are stationed in, there is bound to be news. Maybe not that of a actual real character but that of a NPC. Staff all have npcs they created in training at one point or another. We could use these npcs or other characters to create news stories.

You would be contacted via phone, to get to the destination in town ASAP with an alotted time period (posts). Using foot, bike or whatever will get you there fastest. If you fail to get there, you miss the story or have to catch up with the news groups on what happened...the farther you miss your post deadline to get to the destined place, the harder it will be to get information to make a story on.

Equipment:
You will be responsible for the equipment you are given. This equipment like microphones, cameras and tape recorders can be expensive expecially if they get damaged. So the responsibility of your character will have to play a big factor. Of course you wouldnt give a camera to a stranger to film you, or leave it out in the open while you went to chase someone down would you? I sure hope not!

Which leads me to my next thing. About the watching tv post.

You wont have to watch tv...actually TV has nothing to do with this. You can easily enjoy this job title, even if you arent a reporter. This job would eventually open a new area on tohea. Which would be a Breaking News thread. After each post that deals with the story you are working onyou will be expected to pm a gmod, or admin a brief summary to have added to this thread. Non-reporters will have access to this link, not to comment on, but to read daily events, such as upcoming events to their town, certain upcoming trainers to look out for, special deals that the reporter comes across..or what have not.

About the name:
If this gets approved, I will make a logo for this job title. Since its my own idea, i will be responsible for any logos and designs that are encorperated with the news station.

Reporter Ranks:
Field Work agent
Coorespondant
Lead Coorespondant
Local station anchor
Lead Anchor
Network Anchor
Lead Network Anchor
Further station possibilities as far as management! All ranks listed above are field work agents and would take conciderable amount of time and dedication to move up in rank. You aren't just going to get Lead Network Anchor after fufilling 3 stories...

Cameraman could be a position too, then. People can't hold cameras and record themselves - those things are heavy and complicated. Could pay a bit less than the reporter's wages, or a bit more due to heavy lifting and toting.

Bee's dead right. How would you get to a scene in time? It wouldn't be possible with how tohea works. Sorry, not good.

Lol at munch, I would support this though if he says that ;P

Hmm, this job would be quite complicated, and would involve alot of journey jumping, for one thing, but just creating random news via NPCs would work....but wouldn't be as exciting haha. And then I'm not entirely sure there would be a hecka lot to do afterawhile. I mean you go to a site, talk about what's up, record it, go back home. Unless it was something like Noah suggested, where it was more interaction with what your recording. But I'll give it some thought and talk it over with Nick.
