  • One of the main advantages to Tohea, as stated in its banner, is being the most realistic Pokemon RPG around. I won't lie, it is quite realistic, though here are some serious problems I found.

    The Riverwood Gym topic

The second gym ever constructed on Tohea. It is home to Fire types. The building is a large rectangle, and it's roof is very high and eventually rounds off. At the top of the roof is a gap, and smoke is always pouring out as a representation of fire. Upon entering the gym, you realize it's very large. Red walls, black carpeting. There are plenty of tropical plants in plants scattered about the Gym. However, when the one on one match (first to have all Pokemon KOed looses) starts, part of the floor opens up revealing a large pool of magma. There are floating pontoons in the magma that are constantly shifting and can easily knock someone off and into the lava. It's very hot as soon as the floor opens up.

Did you ever stop to think how hot lava actually is? Basaltic lava, in order to stay liquid, needs to remain around 1000-1250 degrees Celsius. Do you know how much energy it would take in order to keep it at that incredible heat? The Gym would be totally inhabitable (Certainly that kind of heat would travel) not to mention the fact that it says there are boats (pontoons) that travel on it. Secondly, no Gym could realistically operate if there was a chance of dying, which apparently there is. The entire Gym idea is ridiculous at best.

    Secondly...

    Kadaraa Pokemon Mart

    --------------
    Potions
    --------------
    1.  Potion - $80
Heals 5% of your Pokemons health.
    2.  Super Potion - $130
Heals 10% of your Pokemons health.
    --------------
    Ethers
    --------------
    1.  Ether - $80
Heals 5% of your Pokemons energy.
    2.  Super Ether - $130
Heals 10% of your Pokemons energy.

I thought Tohea made the switch from percentages to fractions. Why are percentages still used here?

    Thirdly...

    Kadaraa Gym

There are various lightning rods positioned all over the top of the dome in order to harness electricity and power the Gym.

I believe that this one speaks for itself, though if it doesn't, let me ask you this. Naturally, considering that Kadaraa is a large city, if lightning did strike, wouldn't it hit structures like skyscrapers rather than a "large dome"? Not to mention that you couldn't power an entire building on sporadic lightning bolts.

    Forthly...

This one doesn't have a quote because it is more of a logical error than anything else, but in order to prove my point, let's use the hypothetical character John Doe.

John Doe joined Tohea in December 2006; in his journey, he ventured from his starting location at Kadaraa to look for Pokemon on Route 1. Unfortunately for John, his character wandered off of the trail and got lost. And then a blizzard started. Now John was having some family problems and couldn't get back on Tohea until summer 2007. And as always, he asked for his journey to be unarchived so he could continue playing. But wait, the weather bar says it's going to be sunny all day, but in his journey there was a blizzard. The question is, would it magically turn summer in John's journey, or would it still be snowing? If it was still snowing, the realistic answer, than that would destroy the purpose of the weather system, as his journey wouldn't match the rest of the site.

    Fifthly...

Again, no quote, because it's another logic error.

The cities are described vaguely at best. Oh sure, there is history to each of the towns, but there truly isn't enough. Take Lori's Bed and Breakfast for example. In one referee I did, I said that it was next to the Pokemon Mart. No doubt other referees have said different things than I have, which leads me to my next point. There is no constant to the locations of buildings, or anything else for that matter. Where exactly is the Kadaraa Pokemon Mart. Is it near the edge of the city, greeting trainers coming in from Route 1, or is it in the heart of the metropolis? It's the same with almost any other building, which, although a small annoyance, defeats the realistic aspect from the RPG. In all seriousness, maps of the areas are needed, actual maps mind, with streets listed et cetera, in order to keep journeys consistent with the way the cities are laid out. To sum it all up, a lot more detail is needed in the areas.

Before you make comments like "Oh, why are you even on Tohea if you hate it so much?" or the like, I'd just like to say that I do enjoy Tohea a lot, and the reason I'm posting this is to hopefully get some of these issues addressed, to make this site even better than it already is.

Risen thanks for pointing those out. It's awesome that you are trying to help the site move smoothly. I never thought about these before and now I'm bursting with questions. lol

I would love to see a map of the cities, makes my journey easier haha, and maybe in the entrance of the city they could put the maps of the city/town, so people didn't get lost or something...

As for the whole Weather thing, I think that the refs would slowly have the weather change, so John could get up to date with the weather. =)

Firstly I'd like to say that all this stuff is stuff Nick wrote up ^_^ So you can all blame him <.< >.>

Anyway....

1. Tis a good point Risen, though I don'tt quite have the power to change the gym unless talking about it with Nick, I can only say this......
In Tohea, lava isn't as hot? Or it's not really lava, but there for the effects of it....

2. Thanks for pointing it out, I shall go change it after this

3. It doesn't say that the lightning is the only thing powering the gym, just a bit of extra juice in case of a power outage, perhaps. And we don't say how tall the lightning rods are, or how tall the dome is, or even where the gym is really lol, so it could perhaps be on a tall hill in Kadaraa, in a slightly secluded spot, thus getting the lightning...? Or maybe they're mainly for decoration purposes haha or were used more back in the day with Kadaraa wasn't that big of a city. Good point though but again I don't want to do much to change the gyms until Nick gets back.

4. This is true, but there's nothing we can do about it. We try to make it as realistic as we can. In the end, this is still just a forum. So we have to allow these little hiccups, shall we say, and get on with the journey. So if a member leaves in the winter, and comes back in the summer, well its summer, no matter if the last post was about a blizzard.

5. I dont think anyone really takes much notice of where things are haha, but more description of places is something that Nick and I have been meaning to work on, but just haven't had the time. And I personally have never gone into so much detail as to say what road I'm on in Ayer, or if Lori's is next to Mr and Mrs. Smith's house, or the Pokesmart lol,

^_^ but I'm all for trying to make Tohea better, so if you or anyone sees anything else like this, feel free to point it out and I'll try to explain it to the best of my ability, or change it if it needs to be changed.

Can i post some logic questions I have too? I will use false situations for examples.

Alright, so apparently, a captured pokemon cannot be caught by another trainer as if it were wild, right? Lets say, in situation 1, Joe catches a Rattata. Rattata escapes. Steve finds it an hour later, after Joe leaves the area and Rattata does not follow. Can the Steve catch Rattata? In Situation 2, Rattata stays wild for half a year before being found by Steve. Can Steve catch Rattata?

Next, apparently, if Joe has six pokemon, and then catches Rattata, one of his pokeballs *poofs* into the pc. Which one? Is it random? And then, is it physically impossible to have seven pokemon at ojnce? And what if those six pokemon are out? Does one get sucked up by his pokeball and dissappear? Or what if someone doesnt have a pokedex? Do they need pokedexes?

I have more questions later.

I think it depends on the ref's decision about the Pokemon and, if you do manage to catch it, if your character wants to give it back to its "original" owner. I have a Dratini that is supposed to belong to another guy but said Dratini ran away a "month" earlier and caught himself. I have a choice to keep it or give it back but I doubt my character will choose the latter just because of who it is. But it's still the ref's decision and such.

For your second question, I think the Pokemon you just caught will end up in the PC, not any others. I don't know about the PokeDex question though...

I asked the same (or very similar, anyway) of Rachel, to which she responded (paraphrased), "Wait 'til I get the tech pages up before asking any questions."

The pokedex page still isn't complete. And believe me, I've got questions that delve much farther into the apparent inconsistencies of the system.

Yeah, Kay here is totally getting to the bottom of all this Pokedex stuff. She'll be mad helpful in the ousting of the shadowy people who control the pokedex market o_O

*hugs kay*
