Post random facts!

Did you know that UFO sightings were reported in ancient Egypt?

Royal Annals of Thuthmosis III (circa 1504-1450 B.C.)

In the year 22 third month of winter, sixth hour of the day...the scribes of the House of Life found it was a circle of fire that was coming in the sky (Though) it had no head, the breadth of its mouth (had) a foul odour. It's body one rod long (about 150 feet) and one rod large, It had no voice...Now, after some days had passed over these things, Lo! they were more numerous than anything. They were shining in the sky more than the sun to the limits of...heaven...Powerful was the position of the fire circles. The army of the king looked on and His Majesty was in the midst of it. It was after supper. Thereupon, they (the fire circles) went up higher directed towards the South.

Actually technically, the word "bug" refers to the specific sub-group of insects with sucking mouth parts. Called the hymenoptera I think, but google it if you want the truth.

EDIT: Oops! It was hemiptera. My bad. Hymenoptera is the ant/wasp/bee group.

Did you know that...

"Archaeoraptor" was the name for a hoaxed Chinese fossil, supposedly part of the link in dinosaur-to-bird evolution? A clever Chinese peasant glued the fossil of the front half of the body of a new fossil bird species to the rear half of a new species of the dinosaur Microraptor. Instead of getting one new species, paleontologists ended up with two!

Now you know!

Angel is just the modern word for "messenger of God." Even the Hebrew word for angels when translated lterally means messenger.

There's some city in California with this law: if you set off a nuclear device within city limits, you'll be fined $500.

Did you know you can tell how aggressive a male is by comparing the length of their ring finger to that of their index finger? Larger ring finger = more aggressive. This has to do with testosterone exposure in the womb.
