"I do not think there is any thrill that can go through the human heart like that felt by the inventor as he sees some creation of the brain unfolding to success... such emotions make a man forget food, sleep, friends, love, everything." - Nikola Tesla

The little bird shivered in the snow, large eyes turned up to you, pupils locking with yours out of reflex more than any kind of intention. You were immediately lost in them, however, pulled deep into an intelligence that was far beyond what you might expect of an animal you would immediately imagine to be below you. They held you for what felt an eternity, and you could feel your mind and heart being picked apart and examined by the gaze as if it were testing you. After a long, tense moment, it looked away and seemed to calm a little bit, though it still shivered. This was as much permission as you were going to get, it seemed. |

"Come on," Scuenco said, bending down to scoop the young bird up. He placed his hands in front him, the warmth they radiated obviously inviting. He picked them up and placed them around the small green bird. He wanted to hold the bird close to his body so that whatever warmth he might give off beyond his wet clothes untill he could get him to the Pokemon Center in Ayer. He gave off an inviting smile to the bird, trying to coax it along. |

Not a single feather moved as you approached. The small bird didn’t turn to look at you either. It seemed to be ignoring you, now that it deemed you as no threat to it. You managed to scoop it up in your hands and pull it to you without being bitten, which was a start. Your smile was never noticed, though the warmth from your body was welcome. You could feel the bird’s body relax into you a little. It didn’t relax much though, for it was still shivering from the cold. Now that you had it pretty much settled; you had to get it to a Pokemon Center. You wasted no time, as the poor little bird seemed to have precious little left before it froze. The nearest center was in Kadaara. Ayer was also close by as well, but it was too small to have its own center. You would have to make your way to Kadaara, and quickly. |

A thought struck Scuenco. Ayer was close, but didn't have a Pokemon Center. He couldn't go there. "Spoink!" he called. The small pig immediaely stopped hopping around and looked up at Scuenco. Scuenco transferred the Natu to his left hand and used his free hand to return Spoink to his Pokeball in a flash of red light. He put the Pokeball away and returned the bird to both hands. Scuenco, now fearing for the bird's life by the way it was shivering, began to run towards Kadaraa. |

Ah, how fast you ran to try and get to Kadaara in time to save the poor Natu! Still, the road was long; you were already tiring and the city was not yet in sight. Natu was not terribly heavy, but it still was weight that you had to carry while sprinting along on a route. Who knew how much further Kadaara was? It could take another hour of running to get there! You had to stop and rest for a bit eventually, as you just didn’t have it in you to run so far at one time. You weren’t a marathon runner after all. A few hours and a hot meal later you were rested and refreshed, raring to go at it again. You made sure you had Natu, then started to run towards Kadaara once more. You hardly felt the cold as you ran, the exercise warming you more than any coat could. Boy, if this kept up you’d get to be in great shape! However, Kadaara was still a ways away, so your run was far from over. |

Scuenco panted as he ran. Kadaraa was still was still a ways away. It would be a while until he reached. But it seemed that Natu's life was not in any immediate danger. It would be fine until they could Kadaraa. He looked down at Natu as he ran on. It was a beautiful, green bird with intricate patterns on it. He smiled down at it and then shifted his gaze from the Pokemon to the path ahead of him. He swiftened his pace a bit, hoping to reach Kadaraa soon. |

Yes, you were getting much closer to Kadaraa, but were still a long way off from the city. Natu was beginning to fall asleep as you jogged. The rocking movement and the warmth from your body were too much for it to resist. It was quickly lulled to sleep. Now you didn’t have to worry about it trying to peck you while you were working at saving its life. The fact that it was warming up also meant you had more time to get it help. In fact, the heat was already helping Natu to feel better. It was still essential that you get it to the Pokemon Center ASAP, but at least you had the extra time needed to get to Kadaraa. You thought you caught a glimpse of buildings through the trees, but couldn’t be sure. Yes, trees, for you were running through a small stand of woods in the middle of the route. It wasn’t long before you came to the end of them and could see for miles once more. You had to be nearing Kadaraa now! |

Scuenco's heart leaped at the realization of how close he was to Kadaraa. He kept on running, holding Natu closer to his body. Desperate to get there as soon as possible, Scuenco picked up the pace, almost excerting the maximum energy he was capable of. "We're almost there!" he said happily. He scanned the surrounding area for anything telling him he was getting close to Kadaraa. |

As you were so expecting and hoping, the buildings of Kadaraa were indeed beginning to take the place of the trees as nature thinned around you to give way to the monoliths of man that comprised one of the larger Tohean cities. The snow beneath your shoes thinned until it was nothing but a light covering over what was now asphault. People bustled around you in their pursuits of daily life, ignoring your presence for the most part, but for the random person who would cast you the friendly smile of a stranger, and you got, in general, a good feeling from the city. Might not be so bad a place. "...two officers dead, gunned down!' "Children were there too..." You stopped, blinking. Did you seriously just hear that from random conversation? As there were people talking and muttering all around you, you couldn't tell precisely where it had come from, but it certainly seemed as if something was amiss in this otherwise decent town. |

Scuenco listened. It sounded like some sort of crime had taken place. But there were so many conversations going on at once, it was impossible to tell where one conversation ended and the other began. He looked down at the asphalt ground. It felt so good not to worry about falling through. He looked at Natu. It seemed very safe now. The rush to get to the PokeCenter had declined. Still, he walked briskly, looking for something that indicated where the PokeCenter was. |

The chattering continued as it seemed that all of the conversations were running together. "Death....Children...Officers....Fear!" It was all very frightening and not too appealing to be in a town with all this talk of death was about. But with fear in your heat and in your mind your walk soon became into a jog and then into a run as you began to run from the conversations as best as you could. You ran a few feet before reaching the Pokemon Center. Finally! A place of peace and tranquility or so you hoped. You opened the door as a small ring signaled that you had entered. Nurse Joy's head poked up, "How may I help you today?" |

"Hello!" Scuenco said pleasantly as he approached Nurse Joy. He placed Natu on a table near them. "Can you please take a look at this Natu?" he asked. "I found it in the wild and it seemed very cold, so I thought you might neede to check it out." He pet the small birds head. "It's not that bad anymore, but I'm still a little worried." He looked into the eyes of the little bird, trying to figure out what it was thinking. |

Nurse Joy gasped as she looked the Natu over and quickly removed it from your hands. "This cold weather always makes my job so much harder, but I have a feeling that this Natu will be just fine it is just a little frostbitten nothing we can't fix." Nurse Joy snapped her fingers as a Chansey walked up and took the small green bird from her hands as she wisked it away to the back. "There are no worries now so if you would like to wait on your Natu then you can just take a seat in the chair over there." Nurse Joy pointed towards a red chair as she left and went to the back again. |

Sceunco gave the nurse a friendly smile. "Thank you so much," he said and whirled around as he remembered something. His expression had grown slightly more grim. "I overheard some people talking about something big that happened here. It sounded like there was a lot of guns and cops and violence. Do you know anything about it?" He wondered how Nurse Joy would react to his questions. |

Nurse Joy turned around and looked at the kid blankly. Slowly her eyes began to water, and fought back the emotion that was about to come out of her mouth."Yeah, some criminal went into the Pokemart, and killed the shop attendant, stole a bunch of items, and then outside the person ran a muck on the police department. Killing alot of officers...the worse thing about it is they never caught em." Pausing a moment to fight back the tears as she wiped them away from her face. "Noone is safe anymore, you can't trust anyone in this city anymore. What has the world come too where someone would kill someone just for an item." Calmly quieting down she turned back around and got back to her work. |
