You sat on the steps of your front porch, taking no notice of the cold sea breeze that ruffled your hair and tugged at your clothing. Was you attention not solely trained on the object in your hands, you may have noticed the chills raising goosebumps on your skin, or how your bare fingers were begining to turn a bit numb.

But none of that mattered. You thoughtfully twirled the red and white ord again. After 18 or more years, you had finally gotton your own pokemon. You had all but forgotton how much you had adored them as a child, until that dusty little photo album brought the memories back.

We're you to old to start on your pokemon journey? Some people may think so, but then, what do they matter?

Fate has allowed you this first step, it was up to you to take the next.

Scuenco rose from his position on the porch. He looked down at the object he was holding, a Pokeball. He smiled. "Today," he started, "I begin my adventure. They say I'm too old. Who knows? Maybe I am. Twenty-eight is the age most retire from Pokemon training. But I'll never know unless I try." Scuenco looked down at his Pokeball again. "Me and Spoink will do our best to prove them wrong!" Scuenco smiled and leaped off his porch, proceeding down the road to... who knows where.

  • Your steps lead you quickly onto one of the main roads of Ayer and you breath deep that fresh scent you'd known for years- one entirely unique to this delightful little town. Sea salt, fresh air, and the heavenly scent of flowers, even in this late season. Oh, how these grannies could garden! It seemed everything their gnarled hands touched sprang up from the dark beds of soil. That much was proven to you over and over as you walked the cobblestone road, where each home seemed to have a flower bed the one before could not compete with. It was an ever lasting beauty pageant that had caused much unspoken strife through the years, even a hint of vandalism, but soon enough you'd leave that all behind.

    Long moments pass and you find yourself at Ayer's cross roads and unoffical square. In each main direction there seems to be something of interest. To the west, the docks and pale beaches where the town's youths spent their lazy hours, to the east the tourist road of Ayer, where there was a shop for nearly every occasion (yet still no pokemon center, despite all the complaints). But to the north you could catch sight of a group of trainers, the oldest of them perhaps thirteen, their pokemon about them, every last one of them looking fairly riled up and ready for blood to spill. But the south yielded a far more calmer perspective. On the horizon you could see the dull sign proclaiming the name of the routes which could lead you to the great cities that dotted the explored plains of Tohea. So many choices, so much to do. But the day was young! The hours many. No worries, surely.

    {Oh, before I forget! Your link doesn't actually bring you to your journey/profile. When the popup asks for the url put in the address code for your journey, okay? To make sure it works, test it. And if that fails post in the help board.}

Scuenco looked around at all of the paths that he could take. He considered the docks which are pretty much the only way to get off the island, admired the number and usefullness of the many shops, envied the youthfullness of the child trainers, who seemed to be every bit as headstrong as he was when he was in the picture, and eyed the sign containing the list of routes he could take.

After careful consideration, he headed west, towards both the beach and the docks. He approached a booth which was situated near the main docks and cleared hist hroat. "Excuse me?" he asked. "I need a ship. Preferably the one leaving the soonest and heading for the mainland."

The manin the booth, looking to be in his late forties, beer bellied with scraggly cheeks and chin sporting a 3 day growth, looked at you with one eye, chewing the end of a cigar. He looked you up and down.

"Mainland is it? Which mainland would that be? Dosn't matter much though, the only boat we got heading out of Tohea that'll take passengers is the one heading to Togea."

The man chuckled, taking his cigar in hand to spit off to the side,

"Ain't much of a mainland that."

"Doesn't matter to me," Scuenco replied. "I just want to get to the mainland as fast as possible." He quickly realized how suspicious that must sound. "See, I'm starting my Pokemon journey." Not much of a cover. "So, how about it? Can I go to the mainland, please?" He looked at the man, waiting for an answer.

The man frowned and leaned across the top of the little booth, rolling the cigar between his teeth. "I told ya, kid. We ain't got any ships headed to anywhere 'cept Togea, and that's no mainland."

He pointed out towards the sea, his hairy arm rather too close to you for the sake of cleanliness, as it smelled of cigar smoke and plenty of sweat. "The only time you'll get a ride t'one of the other Regions if they send a ship here. 'At don't happen often," he stated sharply, eyeing you as if you were a brick wall he was trying to explain a complicated concept to.

"Well, I suppose I can always travel to the other places by foot." He nodded. "Goodbye, then. Thanks for you time." When he was finally out of earshot he began mumbling something. When he reached the crossroads, he headed down the roads which lead to the varying routes out of Ayer. "I need to teach Spoink Psywave soon..."

The stroll to said split in the road was a slow one, and as uneventful as you might expect it to be in a town so small as Ayer. Though people passed, they were few enough, perhaps becaues of the snow that continued to fall.

The sign that you were presented with as you reached the split, caked with snow though it was, was clear enough that you had no trouble making out your choice. Route 1 or Route 2? The first looked a bit more forested, a little more pleasant, while Route 2 seemed a bit more rugged, rougher terrain and, maybe, rougher Pokemon. You had a choice to make, it would seem.

Scuenco looked down both routes. He then thought back to the map he saw of Tohea not too long ago. Taking route one would eventualy lead to the bustling city of Kadaraa. Route two would lead him to the much more popular city of Riverwood.

After considering the two paths, Scuenco decided to head down route one. The path would be easier for a person new to Pokemon training and Kadaraa was not abd city. Before he left, he pressed a button on one his Pokeballs. In a flash of red light a Spoink appeared.

"Spoi-spoink!" Spoink grunted happily. He hopped around a bit andt hen turned to face Scuenco. "Spoink!"

Scuenco laughed. "Well," he said, "you sure are full of energy! Alright, Sponik! Time for some training. Today, we're learning Psywave! You ready?"

Spoink's eyes burned with excitment and he grunted in anticipation of a new power.

"Good!" Scuenco said and pulled out his Pokedex, looking up Psywave. "According to this," Scuenco instructed, "first thing you need to do is close your eyes and purge your mind of all distractions."

Scuenco complied, and as he entered his meditative state, his pearl grew darker to show he had ridded his body of distractions.

"Good!" Scuenco commented. "Next, channel your psychic energy into your pearl and try to imagine many rings circling around it."

Spoink did, and his pearl glew many different colors to show that he had tuned himself into his psychic being, and was almost ready to unleash the attack. He shuddered with the power that rushed over him.

"That's it!" Scuenco said delightedly. "Now, open your eyes and bring those rings into the physical plane. Then, fire them off at that rock!"

Spoink opened his eyes and focused his psychic powers on demolishing the rock which Scuenco had pointed out.

Somewhere in the little Psychic-type pig, the rush of energy and feeling of power, almost a kind of elation, felt wholely natural, something so normal as bouncing or breathing, and yet at the same time, it had an unweildly quality, like a baby just learning that it was only they who controlled their limbs, but had yet to figure out how to actually control said limbs.

In essence, the attack was a success. Non-physical energy was accessed and controlled through the crystal atop Spoink's head that served as a catalyst. This energy was imagined into form, and fired. It wasn't, however, quite complete. Having a bit of a wild grasp on both the concept and the energy itself, the rings, two of them there were, shimmered in the grey light.

They had been nearly Spoink's size, but rather than being completely visible rings of energy, they had wavered, fading and brightening as if their power source wasn't quite reliable. Their movement to the target, the size shrinking and solidifying a bit as they neared it, was slower than it should have been, and would have been easily dodged if the stone had had the ability to do so. Lucky for you it wasn't a Geodude. Each of the two rings dissipated into the air before reaching the target, the energy loosing its cohesiveness and simply diffusing, leaving nothing in its wake, and no damage before it.

Frowning, as he seemed to sense that something wasn't quite right, Spoink looked up at you, awaiting orders or congratulations, whichever was most appropriate in the given situtaiton.

"That was good," Scuenco said, "but not quite good enough. Try it again. Access your psychic energy in a larger quantities this time, and then try it again. Got it?"

Spoink grunted and nodded. "Spo-spoink!" he called out, ready to try the attack again, hoping to get better results. Spoink closed his eyes and accessed his psychic powers.

"Remember!" Scuenco called out to him. "Access your psychic energy in greater amounts this time!"

Spoink barely heard him as he drained psychic energy into his pearl, which colors glew and changed and swirled. He visualized the rings again, but this time the psychic energy enabled him to see more detail about the surroundings. He opened his eyes, feeling the attack to be complete. He focused on bring the rings into the physical plane and flinging them off at the rock once more.

The energy flowed through his body, this time filling each little nook and cranny as if it belonged there, as if his body were a perfectly fitting glove, and his jewel shone all the brighter for it.

The rings formed again, yet only three, though their image didn't waver, didn't shimmer, they were as near corporeal as anything purely energetic could be. Flinging his hands forward as if commanding them through such a medium, the three rings flew forward, shrinking and condensing yet more as they moved along, until each slammed into the rock. It was here that the energy loosened, encountering phsyical, static energy. The damage on the rock was minimal, a few small cracks and a single chip.

They had been real, they had been solid, but their cohesion had been loose. After a while, when Spoink was a little better versed in the attack, they would become stronger. He just needed a little time, really.

{Please PM an Admin or Gmod and ask them to add the attack to your profile.}

"Alright," Scuenco said, petting Spink's pearl. "That was good. Just needs a little more time, that's all. You'll have control over it in no time at all! So, shall we proceed down Route 1 towards Kadaraa?"

Spink, obviously pleased by Scuenco's praise, grunted an energetic, "Spoi-nk!" He happily hopped around Scuenco before returning to his side.

"Good!" Scuenco said. "Let's go then!" With that the two proceeded down Route 1, begining their journey's together.

It was certainly a pleasant enough day for such a stroll through the Route, as it was one of the nicer one's to begin with. The snow was falling softly still, and it really looked like something out of a Christmas card, so serene was it. Your footsteps crunched through the white substance, and the Spoink left tiny holes in the snow where it bounced along at your side.

There really wasn't anything remarkable visible though, not even any Pokemon tracks, which was a little surprising, given how easily visible they'd be, and certainly no sign of human habitation Who would live out here when the city was so close?

After several long minutes, you saw a rather odd, yet also humanoid shape, standing off to the side, completely white, with something of a top-hat on. A snow man? Interesting...that would mean there are people nearby, right?

{Please put in your ref req post that you request me for a while; I've got a plan. Mwahaha.}
