I am currently studying Tagalog as a third language, and Thought, well hey? Might as well share it..

So here is some basic Tagalog Words/Phrases:

Mga Bilang: (Numbers)
Isa :: one
Dalawa :: two
Tatlo :: three
Apat :: four
Lima :: five
Anim :: six
Pito :: seven
Walo :: eight
Siyam :: nine
Sampu :: ten
When saying -Teen (Eg, Fourteen) use labing-

Labing-isa :: eleven
Labindal(a)wa :: twelve
Labintatlo :: thirteen
Labing-apat :: fourteen
Labinlima :: fifteen
Labing-anim :: sixteen
Labimpito :: seventeen
Labingwalo :: eighteen
Labinsiyam :: nineteen
Dalawampu :: twenty

When saying Twenty - (Eg, Twenty One) Use dalawampu't


Dalawampu't isa :: twenty-one
Dalawampu't pito :: twenty-seven

Tatlumpu :: thirty
Apatnapu :: forty
Limampu :: fifty

Animnapu :: sixty
Pitumpu :: seventy

Mga Araw ng Linggo (Days Of the Week)

The word linggo means both "week" and "Sunday" -- in the latter case, it is written capitalized.

Lunes :: Monday
Martes :: Tuesday
Miyerkules :: Wednesday
Huwebes :: Thursday
Biyernes :: Friday
Sabado :: Saturday
Linggo :: Sunday


To say "On," use "Sa."

Sa Lunes :: On Monday
Sa Martes :: On Tuesday
Sa Miyerkules :: On Wednesday
Sa Huwebes :: On Thursday
Sa Biyernes :: On Friday
Sa Sabado :: On Saturday
Sa Linggo :: On Sunday

Mga Halimbawa (Examples)

Darating sila sa Sabado.
They're coming on Saturday.

Saan ka pupunta sa Martes?
Where are you going on Tuesday?

Nandito ka ba sa darating na Lunes?
Will you be here this coming Monday?

May tao ba rito sa susunod na linggo?
Will someone be here next week?

What is taglog? I think these words were made by throwing scrabble pieces at the walls and seeing what you get. LOL. What country speaks this?

Tagalog is the main dialcect of the Filipino nation.

Steven, thank you for putting this up. My mother never taught it to me, so this might prove useful.

Meat, Sea Food, Vegetables, Fruits, Nature, Occupations, Family, Body Parts, Holidays or Months of the year

Those there are the nine other lessons I am willing to do, in any order you like. Holiday includes Birthday/Christmas greetings, and food’s have been split into different categories. Occupations, Family and Body Parts cover the basics and each of those will have a Mga Halimbawa (Examples) to give you basic Tagalog dialect.

Also after all those nine lessons I can also give you some more words such as:

  • Simple Greeting
  • Question words
  • Directions/Compass points
  • Basic “Thanks”

So who is up for what?
