I know this topic is old, and extremely drawn out, but... It's real life, folks. The concept of the characters eating Pokémon is so outrageous, huh? Eating something that feels and responds? What do you call a normal cow? It feels and responds, just as the perceived Pokémon does. I think it's one of those things that should remain a mystery- because the battle goes both ways. During gameplay, normal housepets are replaced with Pokémon... as well as Miltank farms, ect. Would it be considered a crime to eat a friend, a pet? Or simply what they do to survive? A top-of the food chain deal? Like I said- it goes both ways... But I don't think they meant for viewers to pique their food choices, haha. And Zer0, I found your post funny. Call me a cannibal if you must. :D |

I wish I didn't read this thread, but it annoyed me quite a lot with what people said. I'm agreeing with Nya says completely here - in the pokémon world they'd kill pokémon for food. The chances are, the animals that are mentioned are pokémon that they don't include. Do you realise how hard it would be to have every species of animal on the planet become a pokémon? They cut corners, and the animals aren't mentioned a lot, but the chances are they're pokémon. Yes, they eat pokémon. And here's the quote that proves it:
They went to eat the Magikarp. Why did they do this? Because they were hungry. Magikarp is a fish, and all the boys (+ Jesse) hungered for the Magikarp. To them, Magikarp is another fish - they're comfortable trying to eat it, which means they eat meat. Now, assuming that all animals are just un-identified pokémon, they must eat pokémon.
EXACTLY! What's annoying me, is that people keep saying this, but other people can't accept it for some reason! Seenter, your first post in this topic annoyed me, possibly the most. I don't mean to have a go or anything, but I gotta say this - get this off my chest.
... What? Okay, you would be a veggie, so you're not at the moment, right? This means you eat animals. As I have said, pokémon are these animals in the pokémon world, so it wont be freaky in the slightest.
No. No no no no no no no! Absolutely not! Are all cows put up for the slaughter? No! Miltank are probably bred for the slaughter, like lambs, pigs and cows. The ones that are going to be killed will be bred that way, so that would be their purpose from the moment they're born. The ones that battle will be perfectly safe, because why would a trainer give up their pokémon for food?
I've already said my stuff about this one.
Meat is meat. In reality, it's animals. In pokémon, it's pokémon. Berry's cannot count as a source of meat. As for the Mightyena things, what? So, you're saying that if humans eat fruit every now and again, they're pretty much veggies?!
Ergh, no! That's rediculous. Okay, in the pokémon world, pokémon are smarter that animals in our world, but that doesn't mean they understand us. In the TV programme, they do that for the kids, like they would animals in cartoons. The main thing is, the anime is a kids show. It's for kids. They can't exactly say "Mmm, I'm so glad they kill those Miltank so that they can make these awesome burgers!" That's a big no-no! Pokémon is walking on wafer thin ice, any episode that's even slightly contraversial needs to be axed from the air, so of course there is no reference to pokémon being killed for food!
No, it's not. Anphros was curious about it, and stupid remarks, like your soilent green comment, made it more of a joke. Sorry if I offended people, or angered anyone, as I said, I wish I didn't read this topic now, but having read it, I needed to put my two cents in, which is exactly what I did. Like it or not, this is my opinion. EDIT - Nick, you should probably close this thread before it gets really out of hand =S |

Actually, I think they do have animals. Clickie I got bored, and found this, so I am thinking that they do have real animals, we just don't see them. Don't attack me please, I am just offering some insight... Read the description for Fire Red... Though, it would be kind of funny to see a butcher chasing a Tauros around town

Actually, That is no actual proof of animals. Its The Mouse Pokémon. It is the equal of a mouse in are world, but there arent any in the Pokémon world. That pokedex entry is for us, and not the IC charecters in the game. Its giveing use some Idea of its power. |

I have issues. Anyways, I just thought of something. Maybe they have a combination with the Pokémon and the real animals, have like farms that are half Miltank and half cows, and like, they kill the cows. Just a thought. |

Well, to be honest, I don't think they have mixed animals and Pokémon in their world. Let's be realistic, animals don't stand a chance. I know some of you said "It's possible!", but it's really not. It's called natural selection. Pokémon have abilties that will allow them to... A) Eat the plants, berries, etc. quicker than an animal. B) Catch, kill, and eat animals. C) In territorial battles, such as Crocodile, any Pokémon could easily beat it. For example, Arbok. It has a variety of abilties to destroy Crocodile easily. Sure, Crocodile has "bite", "tailwhip", but that's it. They aren't capable of defending their territory, defending themselves, and or living alongside Pokémon while in competition for food. |

Point taken. Maybe they eat Pokémon we don't know about, and then stop eathing them just before the game they are in is released? Maybe. Or, maybe they used to eat Pokémon and now eat some Meat Replacement stuff, like they have for sugar? |
