CaS Site Login System and Prototype Demo Have you ever wished you could edit or correct your own submitted character's details directly on the site and on the fly, without having to request it on the forums and have the site team apply the changes? Well that may become a reality soon, as I'm hoping to implement a login and user management system to current CaS sites that can accomplish such. The login system is already set to be place on CreatiVe Souls (Soul Calibur V CaS site) due to the new and configurable profile system; however, it can also be additionally added to at least Another Stage of History. What can this login system accomplish? As much already explained, by logging in with your username and password on the site, you can directly manage and edit all your characters. This means you are freely able to change all their changeable details, such as biography/story and author comments, all instantly with a press of a button. You can also do extra things such as disabling ratings/comments, and marking characters as private so only you can view them. In CreatiVe Souls you can instantly change all your profile details such as avatar, about me, quote, etc. Will there be a separate registration system? For current sites such as Another Stage of History, it is planned that the system will use your forums username to identify you and your submitted characters, so it will not be necessary to manually register a separate account to use with the site. Your password for the site on the other hand is different from your forums password, and will be given to you privately through the forums. The password will be freely user changeable. For CreatiVe Souls, it is unknown whether it will have separate site registration or not. Is it safe? At the moment the system is very safe, with full access security implemented on the server itself so no one except the site team will have access to the system's files. This means you can be sure that no one can hack your password or change your character details without your consent, for example. Who is coding it? This is a pure single hand project made from scratch to make sure it's the most flexible. Zero premade scripts are used, just a lot of knowledge in php and mysql. ![]() INTERACTIVE PROTOTYPE DEMO To initiate the demo, login as username: test password: test. Please note that is just a very barebones rough draft of how the system will work. At the moment the demo allows you to:

Have you tried the login in a more complex environment, such as viewing another user's page, another user's profile, several samples of AsoH page with all of its scripts, etc? |

You can already technically view another person's character page on the demo, as a guest if you haven't logged in. The guest user will not be able to change any of the character's details. To demo this, simply log out and go directly to character.php without logging in. The way the script works would only allow the details be edited if the creator name/profile name matches the name of the logged in user. I can make more accounts to demo how multiple/different accounts effects profiles and character pages, but it's not important since I just want you to get the basic idea and the guest portion is already there. Additionally coding is not even close to completion yet and will take quite a long time, so I am not able to present a feasible demo on a current CaS site yet. However, when at least the full basic framework has been completed, expect a live demo for current CaS sites. As for script issues with what's present on the sites, I see no reason for them to have any effect as all this system uses is php. Edited by C.T, Jul 12 2011, 06:12 AM.
