It has been hinted upon on another news thread and some of you may already have stumbled on it, nevertheless I'm here to announce that the CaS submissions system has gone through yet another significant and highly positive overhaul. What exactly kind of overhaul? Well, submissions are now entirely driven by forms! Perhaps the ancients may think this isn't anything new, as in the earliest periods forms were used for submissions and requests on BWSCIIICG. However, the forms back then only allowed a single character submission per entry, lacked aesthetic appeal, and results were only published directly to a single e-mail account. Only now have we been able to deliver both a robust form experience as well as publish results directly on the forums, which is an important necessity for a non-individual site team. The new submission forms provides an easier, simplified and hassle-free way of character submitting with less opportunities for errors and confusion. Compared to the previous system where one had to post a new thread, then navigate their way through possibly confounding bits of pre-pasted text labels, the forms system effectively eliminates all of this. So how do I access the submission forms? Simple. Just head over to either the SCIII or SCIV submissions forums, then click the forum indicated "Submit Soul Calibur III Create-a-Soul Characters" or "Submit Soul Calibur IV Create-a-Soul Characters" and both shall redirect you to the respective submission form. After you fill out the form, the results will be published in the new database forums. Database forums are essentially the old giant submissions forums where all the submissions threads are held, worked on and taken care of by the site team. Additionally things are made even easier, as there are now quick links to both the SCIII and SCIV submission forms on the front page under the Soul Calibur Submission forum. Anything cool to be noted? Two things: * The submission forms lets you submit anywhere from 1 to up to 7 characters at once in a single entry. Furthermore it will also allow infinite submissions via resubmission of the forms as well. You simply choose how many characters you'd like to submit and the system does the work for you. * Guests are now able to submit, however they will be tracked by IP and will only allow 1 single submission (1 per site) until they register and gain enough points. Hopefully this allows possibly more content on the sites while keeping the guidelines in check. Demo or use the new form submission system: Submit CaS for SCIII Submit CaS for SCIV |

It's really great and hopefully, increase productivity with a standardized form ![]() Problem however, The submission Forum contains too many Subforums. Maybe you should opt to put the subforums in a List style on the forum description. Also, the main forum page looks a bit messed on IE9 (switching to Safari now). |

I changed the board settings so it only displays first level of subforums instead of all, so that cleans it up a lot on the main page. The submissions subforums are still kind of messy, but the only way to fix this is to eliminate support forums and move all the threads there to the main submissions forums. I didn't like this idea earlier since it makes more sense to have all the informative and help threads in a separate support forum. The submissions forms limit has been raised to 7, also character numbers are color coded so it'll be easier to fill out. Edited by C.T, May 31 2011, 01:13 PM.

It was changed to reflect in game labels. Originally I missed the labels hence it was made up mostly from bits of SCIII. Anyways, I wanted to announce that submission forms are now required. Meaning you are required to use the form if you want to submit any character, and not add topics in the database (which have been disabled). I also realized e-mail can be viewed by anyone on the database, so it's now optional and no longer required. |

This is some pretty cool news. I was pretty fond of the forms, though for the longest time I was wondering why nothing would happen when I hit Submit. One question, though. If it allows infinite submissions via resubmissions, is there anything keeping people from putting in 50 at once? Or do you not mind if 50 are put in at once? |

I think people should be limited to 2 or 4 submission per month per Account/IP. |

Can you elaborate a little? When you hit submit, the results of the form is submitted to the database. There isn't anything else that is supposed to happen (i.e. you aren't redirected to your submission or some other place). There is however a indicator where the submit button is telling you if your submission is successful or not. The database is of course moderated regularly. If people submit more than they are allowed then the consequential entries will be closed/deleted. Guests are allowed 1 submission per IP until they register and build points. All others are allowed 10 depending on their points. Ineligible submission entries are closed/deleted. That's not how things should work. 10 is the max amount of submissions per user and it should be allowed to submit 10 characters a month. It's guests that have to be regulated and allow 1 submission per IP until registration. UPDATE: Character Presentation Video Type option now added to all SCIII submissions forms, allowing you to now select either default Battle Theatre 1 Round Versus or Weapon Demonstration video for your characters at the moment you submit. So Perse, no need to nag everyone what they prefer on submissions lists.

C.T, is it possible to drive the formula field on form as well? Some of the SC4 formula submission still use old field naming (e.g. "Torse" instead of "Upper Body". Or is it too much field if we use pulldown menu for all fields? The discipline list in SC3 need to be sorted (at least alphabetically). Also, I propose we add Abyss, Olcadan, and Night Terror. |
