As you may have noticed on the site news, our current SCIV CaS site shoutbox (provided by cbox.ws) is currently plaguing Internet Explorer users with forced pop-up advertisements on every page on the site visited. This occurs regardless if the user has enabled pop-up blocking or not. The shoutbox will either be upgraded to preminum service or be rid of and replaced with a shoutbox from a different provider soon, such as shoutmix. The reason shoutmix isn't being used is because it lacks the appearance/styling of cbox and several important administrative features. If you wish to not upgrade at the moment to a superior browser that is Firefox (which with its built in pop-up blocker blocks ALL types of pop-ups), then you can follow these simple steps to enable Internet Explorer to disable the pop-up ads and constant prompting on the site and all of its pages permanently. Note: The following applies to Internet Explorer version 7 only.
Note: If you happen to already ran and installed the add ons by accident which are responsible for the pop-ups, simply disable them in the add ons manager under Tools > Manage Add Ons > Enable or Disable Add Ons. Disable both DHTML Edit Control Safe and MSXML 3.0 SP10. |
