Using a 'cunning' swap trick can do this. However, only the event with Olcadan is working. The rest is either hang up or have your character just lie down (invalid character digit).

yeah. i can get the character to show up, but their frozen either standing up or lying down. but because of that makes me think its not entirely impossible. i'm bowing to the code-hacking masters for this one :thumbup2:

A bit technical note: When you set a character digit, it's not only the character digit that is changed. Example:

Character Digit 01 (Mitsurugi)
Stage set to Battle in the Strait
Moveset set to 01 (Mitsurugi)
Cinematic Animation set to 01 (Mitsurugi)

for 60 (CaS), it might be:
Stage set to 00 (Egyptian Temple)
Moveset Set to 00 (invalid)
Cinematic Animation set to 00 (invalid)

If somehow I can screen the memory, I could guess the addresses. Unfortunately, that's only possible using emulation, and memory dump is only one time :(

Are there any codes that allow you to adjust the timer and match settings in Battle Theatre? It seems like it's eternally stuck at 50 secs/2 rounds with no options to alter it.

Isn't pressing 'Start' at character selection screen bring up some menu to alter the matches?

Ah, thanks. How could I have missed the most obvious? Nevermind my previous post then.

By expanding Unlock Codes, it's possible to do it, but as you might know, the behaviour of the CaS is the same (eg. lying down all the event, etc.)

allrighty. i get the same thing, either standing still or lying down. i even tried Tales of Souls, then switching to the CAS at the select screen, but when the screen turns black, the game freezes :(

What events are worthy enough to replace your CaS in? Nightmare vs Siegfried perhaps. Even if it did work without the motion bug, how would the game know how to speak your character when it is required?

Anyways, I discovered there was a way to alter arenas and play in various non-playable areas, like the watery intro screen.

Anyone know the code and its accompanying digits?

That's using stage select codes. and you're the one that can do it now, C.T, since you're able to emulate SC3...

I have to emulate SCIII in order to use the stage select codes? Or is that the method you use to find codes? Clearly, the videos in the above links are from the PS2 version of SCIII.

The easiest method to find the code is by using emulation. Those people might be filtering memory using old Gameshark (which is not availabe nowadays). I find most of PS1 code (that isn't listed anywhere) using emulators. I'm sure I can do thesame for PS2.

If you're interested, I can give you a full-length guide.

Figured so. As long as you are able to fish out interesting codes I guess I can be your tool.

Thanks :) First thing first, we neeed the right tool. My tool of trade is ArtMoney, downlodable from http://www.artmoney.ru/. ArtMoney has a built-in emulator memory search including PCSX2.

Option to set in ArtMoney:
Option > General
Refresh time (ms): 1
Freeze time (ms): 1
Option > Additional
Uncheck: Refresh the values in table only on form focus

Searching memory in ArtMoney is simple. If you have a game like, example, Warcraft III.

  • Start WC3 and play a skirmish. Notice how much gold in your mine. example you have 25000 gold in the mine.
  • Alt+Tab out of WC3 and run ArtMoney.
  • On select process pull down, choose 'WarCraft III'
  • Now press Search.
  • Set search to 'Exact Value' (As you know how much the number is)
  • Enter 25000 on value
  • Type filed: to know what the number type is, you only need to use your logic. Click on the '...' button to select type.
  • Since the vaue is 25000, no way it can be an Integer 1 Byte (Max 255). And it can't be Integer 2 Byte either (Max 65535). Usually money value is set to Integer 4 bytes (highest money amount I know is 99 999 999, while Integer 4 byte max amount is 4 294 967 295).
  • Check the Integer 4 Byte and uncheck other options. Press OK
  • Your Type field should read 'Custom'
  • Leave address range to ALL
  • Click OK
  • Depends on your processor clock You should get a list of adresses in a minute.
  • Go back to WC3.
  • Command one of your peon to enter the gold mine, thus reducing the gold amount by 10. Now in the mine your gold will be 24990
  • Alt+Tab to ArtMoney
  • Click on Filter button
  • Enter 24990 in the value field.
  • Click OK
  • Number of sdresses should be reduced.
  • Go back to WC3 and command one of your peon to enter the gold mine, reducing the gold amount by 10. Now in the mine your gold will be 24980.
  • Alt+Tab to ArtMoney
  • Click on Filter button
  • Enter 24980 in the value field.
  • Click OK.
  • Repeat going to WCIII, reduce the gold in mine and filter the address.
  • Sooner or later you'll get 1 address.
  • Click on the adress on the left table and click on the red arrow button.
  • The address should move to the right table where you can edit it. Input another value, example 100 000. NOTE: Value won't change if you still has the text cursor inside the value field!
  • Go back to WC3 and see if the gold mine is updated. If yes, the congrats! You've done your first address filtering!
At this point you might want to toy around with ArtMoney a bit until you have the 'instict of address choice', especially searching memory in lesser console emulation. In some cases, the address won't be down to just 1 address. An experienced memory filter (such as me ) could guess 1 correct address out of 100 without much filtering.

If you're ready, here we go to SC3 emulation. Start PCSX2 and ArtMoney. Your PCSX2 should run on windowed mode to prevent Alt+Tab out of fullscreen that in some cases fatal to emulator. First, before finding any code, we need to find a tie-ins code because ArtMoney memory list is for PC, not for PS2. The quickest and easiest code to find, IMHO, is Life amount for Player 1.

P1 Life Search

  • Start in Vs. Standard Mode.
  • While in battle (P1 life is still full) Go to ArtMoney:
Search: Unknown Value; Type: Integer 2 Byte; Address Range: Emulator; Game System: PS2; Emulator Type: <Choose one fit/nearest your PCSX version>. Click OK.
  • When search is over, go back to PCSX2 and reduce P1's life.
  • Back to ArtMoney.
Filter: Unknown Value; Value: Was Decreased. Click OK.
  • Reduce P1's life and filter. Keep filtering until there's 1 address left.
  • Add the address to the table.
  • Change the value. Does P1's HP changed? If yes, then bingo. We can transfer addresses between GameShark and ArtMoney.
Stage selection (will be hard, trust me):
I guess stage selection code type is Integer 1 Byte, as it's maximum amount is 255. Even the stages aren't that much.

Go to practice, select any character and its opponent. NOTE: You character MUST BE THE SAME on this whole proccess. Don't use any CaS.

Method 1: Egyptian Temple as Reference

  • Select any stage (except Egyptian Temple).
  • In battle. Go to ArtMoney. Search: Unknown Value, Type: Integer 1 Byte. The rest is same as the P1 Life search
  • Go back to stage selection screen (Same characters, remember!)
  • Choose Egyptian Temple.
  • In battle, go to ArtMoney. Filter: Exact Value; Value: 0.
  • Go back to stage selection screen, select a different stage.
  • In battle, go to ArtMoney. Filter: Unknown Value; Value: Was Changed.
  • Some times, select a same stage as before. In battle, go to ArtMoney. Filter: Unknown Value; Value: Was Not Changed.
  • Repeat filtering as many as possible.

Methos 2: No reference.
This methos is the same as Method 1, but you just use Filter: Unknown Value; Value: Was Changed over and over.

I hope this is clear enough... I'll help you out anytime. If something on this guide is not making sense, please inform me.
