I have heard rumors floating around the Net about a Soul Calibur movie, and then during one of my Anime Club meetings, someone said that there is a Soul Calibur Movie in production. According to the rumors, there are several people who might be in charge of production/directing: Peter Jackson, George Lucas, Vijay P. Agarwal, and Steven Spielberg. I was surprised to see both Lucas and Spielberg as potential producers. They're great producers and directors, don't get me wrong, I just never thought that they would get involved in a video game movie adaptation. Peter Jackson is the one I hope will be producing it! I don't know who Agarwal is. My biggest fear is that this movie will be just like Mortal Kombat, Wing Commander (it wasn't bad, nor was it good; it was so-so), Doom, Resident Evil, and Street Fighter: terrible adaptations of great games that have captured the hearts of many gamers in the world! Let's hope that Hollywood doesn't mess Soul Calibur too!

What are y'all's thoughts about this? Oh, BTW, there is a site featuring it, and according to the site, the movie is due this year!

Here's the link: http://www.soulcaliburthemovie.com/index.htm
:siegfried: :siegfried2: I hope Siegfried is one of the main characters!

I never heard about a Soul Calibur movie before. That'd be pretty awesome. You're right, SCfighter...let's just hope they don't mess it up.

Live action movies that are based on games should never be made

ex. Tomb raider (Only good thing is the stuffed bra on Jolie) , Super Mario Bros. (WTF), Mortal Kombat--2 (All of a sudden Rayden has a hair cut?)

Instead make Soul Calibur into a CG movie, look at the detail they put in on the intro for SC3, put the top of the line VG voicecast, A SCRIPT and you got maybe a good movie

*Sigh* I sincerely hope that doesn't happen...well, I might have more of an open mind depending on how Peter Jackson's Halo movie turns out...if it's ever released, that is. As has been proven many a time (not least in this very topic), Hollywood has a tendency to completely butcher cinematic adaptations of games, and Soul Calibur will doubtlessly be no exception (for one thing, who would be cast as Voldo?). Now, a Soul Calibur anime might be worth seeing...Streeties got better treatment in that medium than in live-action...

A CG or animated Soul Calibur movie would be much better, I agree. Voldo didn't have any lines (except for hisses and growls) in the game, so whoever does him wouldn't have any spoken lines. However, let's hope that the people who are doing the movie have at least played the games. That's the major problem whenever Hollywood tries to adapt a game to the big screen: majority of the people involved in the movie have never played the games. If you are making a movie based on a game, you should always play the game before making the movie.

I've seen most of the Movie made VG and every movie sucked even more then the other...the only movie I liked is Tomb raider...But hey, I like girls...

But VG wise...Everything sucked with Street Fighter as number one! Damn in the commercial breaks I've thrown up a lot of dinners if you catch my drift...
If there's a Anime/CG movie for SC that would be a very good one... BUT FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE NO REAL PEOPLE!

A live-action might work, but only if they do it RIGHT!

A live-action might work, but only if they do it RIGHT!

Nope, Live action always fails misrably. Simple reaso because they cannot really stick to the story. And if they do they always have to do something stupid. Example: Street Fighter.

Main story in game: Bison organises a tournament for streetfighters all over the world. You are a competitor.

Main story in movie: Bison wants to take over the word, Guile wants to stop that and end the reign of terror..

See any resemblance? I think not!

The only VG to Movie story that's correct is Mortal Kombat.

And I'm not talking about Armegeddon and other MK franchise...

If you watch any of the SF OAVs, I think thats what Bison is trying to do

CG movies actually worked like the first FF movie...except somebody forgot to put a real PLOT

Sometimes live-action works, and sometimes it doesn't. Those times it doesn't work is when the movie is about a fighting game (an exception is the first MK movie). A CG Soul Calibur movie would be better as you can do a lot of stunts and make the characters look real. By real I mean Lizardman doesn't look like a guy in a rubber suit!

In Street Fighter Alpha Bison was trying to take over the world,in Street Fighter 2 it's like how Fhan said he organizes the torunament & you're in it,the movie's plot was set as Street Fighter Alpha using the Street Fighter 2 cast(Akuma would definately have been in it cause you should already know his fanbase by now)so the Street Fighter movie pretty much didn't do the whole thing right :/

As for a Soul Calibur Movie live action it'll suck no matter who they put or who they use,an anime use Freeman for Seig's voice & it'll rock  but it's still a good alternative specially since some pics of the first Soul Calibur were in anime form :o ,a CG movie would be perfect since they would only worry about voice actors(Seig's SCIII voice, everyone elses SCII voice)

It is insane if they will make it like Street Fighter. I'm being disappointed on game videos would turn out to be an acting scenes or action live. It must be like Final Fantasy Series.
