Most of the time no, they just do it for the money and cause they aren't able to get a normal job. That's a TOTALLY unrelated question to the topic, BTW. |

You can still input "Yaro Kuso" as a name Yaro means "bastard" and kuso means "excrement".

Maybe because this version of the game is in english, so it forbids only english curse words. |

That's why I said that. Cause I thought that even the guys who created the english version of SC3 don't know Japanese, or they thought absolutely all Americans didn't know Japanese as well. So, in the end, all english versions have forbidden only english curse words. I was taking into consideration Riva's case if her version is the English one. If she owns the japanese version, then that's a different story. OT: I'm really amazed... to think I wanted only to create a list for reference and then I end up seeing comments about racism, murder, drugs... |

It depends, it's Requim or Requiem? Either way... thanks for finding one more. I don't know why it's forbidden though, since they used it in in the game as the name of Siegfried's initial weapon. |

It's Requim. I have a character named Requiem, and I misspelt it. |

Well, I don't believe ESRB actually makes any money from the sales of games, so I doubt that it's to make money. Sorry for posting on such an old message...just noticed the date before this edit. Edited by Zashiwara, Jun 25 2008, 08:09 PM.

There are 10 kind of people in the world: those who know binary and those who don't. Anyone who got that, I pity you, yet honor you in a sense as well.

I found it pretty amusing that Manko was blocked, I wasn't expecting the filter to go into Japanese words as well. |

She meant the game company, as the ESRB affects sale of the games. |

Oh, I thought she meant they rated it lightly so that the raters would make more money...Kind of confused me. I suppose ESRB could rate it loosely so that the game company could make more, but by giving an inaccurate rating, wouldn't they be losing money? And ESRB is a group of people who rate the games, right? I've been messing up quite a bit lately, so I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong about that too

ESRB is the rating system and organization for video games in North America. Though the game publishers have no real input on the game's ESRB rating, they have the choice to alter the game's sent footage and resubmit it to the ESRB in order to achieve a more desirable rating, hence being able to profit more from sales in more age groups. |
