Caution: This article was written in a third person perspective and may contain hints of exaggeration, sarcasm and lies. Please take it with a grain of salt, if you are human. I. Rise of the necessity of a forums As BaneWolf’s Soul Calibur III Create-a-Soul Guide Damn That Is Such a Long and Stupid Name became increasingly more popular by the day, there was a sudden tendency to release a message board for the fans, in order to start a community and discuss Soul Calibur III “CaSing” as well as other interests that the site, guestbook or e-mailing didn’t provide. The original idea behind a message board was derived from da1goat’s Soul Calibur III “Create-a-Wrestler” site and his own “Create-a-Wrestler in Soul Calibur III” board, but the idea was also depicted from many of C.T's failed website creations that had incorporated a message board of some sort, having the perfect resort for the majority who wanted to exclaim the sites’ excessive suckitude to the public. Submissions and requests also became a real subject matter, as C.T’s inbox was massively flooded on a constant basis with results generated by the poorly implemented site forms, as well individual requests e-mailed by person. Boy, you wouldn’t even begin to IMAGINE how much of these there were a day. By allowing a message board where these inbox innecessities can be placed, it would soothe up C.T's e-mail and allow for the normal and nice things, such as e-mailing his mom or contacting his co-worker. Taking everything in mind, the forums were officially created with Invisionfree’s service on December 22nd, 2005 (jot this down so you know when the board’s birthday is!) and was later tucked away until C.T found the fitting time to publicly release it. And yes, the board was as ugly, no, UGLIER than a teenage millionaire. II. Forums official opening and initial members Following a period of idleness and non activity, the forums finally opened its curtains on the 9th of January, 2006. This important event was marked due to a site fan who had urged C.T to publicly release the URL. C.T was in dire straits and thus very reluctant to make the board public, due to a fear of failure and inactiviteness. Had Buster Wolf not sent that one, godly e-mail, the Soul Gateway Forums of today would have been delayed for months and develop into something wholly different. The copy of the e-mail message, as it stands unedited and genuine: (At this point in time, Buster Wolf was not a pervert, or at least his secret remained unknown) “You should give it a try at least,if it becomes way to inactive then you can delete it,think for a moment you can get more characters that way, plus I have been remaking the CotS characters in CAS I could give you those if you'd like...when I finish all of them, please think it over & hopefully you'll do it,that & it'll be better if more than one person can see the request a CAS Chao ![]() Buster Wolf” During the opening period the forums saw a determined amount of members, not as large as a flock of seagulls after you throw your stale rice away in the backyard, but were enough to create a decent, starting community. The initial lineup of members were Buster Wolf, D3adP0ol, MetadragonX, Atom45, Chaos, and PyroTechnks. No, Jukain isn’t on here, as he joined at a much later date *surprise, surprise*! III.The first ever thread The first ever thread, aside from ones that C.T has set up initially, was D3adp0ol's "2 naruto CaS and 1 Fire emblem CaS" thread, posted on January 9th, 2006 at 03:18 PM - 9 long months, some days and some hours ago from the present. And it is thanks to this post that caved way to a great blossoming of further posts, up until this very day. IV. RoseTinted appointed as first moderator Throughout the first fusty month or so of its opening, the forums had no moderators and only one (and amazingly still) administrator, who took care of all the forums' operations. With the rather minimal amount of members, it seemed needless to crown anyone an extra step above their members rank and have them resort to forums maintenance, as there wasn’t much to take care of. However, as the member and post numbers begins to increase, their was a sudden thought that “two hands and a computer was no longer sufficient.”. RoseTinted was one of the few members that helped advertised and spread word about the site on boards when it was just an unpopular infant. With no excuses in mind, RoseTinted was almost immediately granted her moderation abilities. V. Jukain presents a strong odor of posting above all else One of the more memorable and noteworthy moments was observing Jukain's odd behavior of posting, as if his specialty was to post 30 messages in a day, or if he was born with a disease that attached him to this message board. As his posts climbed rapidly to 1,500+, he was preceded with acclaim, criticism, some envy, slandered as a spammer, and was even humorously awarded with the title that proclaimed “It’s official, I post too much”. Jukain was also known to be the “perfectionist” of the board, who has the sane ability to immediately correct member’s marginal misspelling, grammar, game facts, what shoe you’re really wearing, your age, the difference between Seong Mi-Na's underwear and Setsuka's thong, and whatever else he believed was wrong to him. Due to his rather obsessive mind, he’s creating his own army of followers and haters, yet to be named – continue to stick with the side of your choosing. VI. Jukain appointed as second moderator Observing Jukain was close to observing a fruit fly and its decaying fruit, even if we shoo it away they will always come back for more. Throw the fruit down a grinder and the fly will likely follow it into the tunnel. Knowing of his great level of activeness above others, he was offered to represent the forums as a second moderator, which he immediately agreed to. So far he’s been doing a good job with his role, but tends to miss some things, which is acceptable, although he’s probably busting out his skull with a shovel at the very moment. VII. Sudden tidal wave of guests On February 13th, 2006 at 07:43 PM; the forums witnessed a curious amount of guests online for a brief period of time. Initial guest counts were low as 2 to 5, but swiftly rose within minutes. There was a total of 21 guests online in the end, along with 4 registered members. This rare event marked the forums' highest record of the most online users at a time. The surge of guests are still unexplained, but may relate to some sort of unknown advertising done with the forums on a major site / board (such as GameFAQs). VIII. Member count reaches 100 At a certain point in the forums' history, although unknown exactly at which certain point, the number of registered members reached a staggering 100. It may have not be such a “staggering” amount to those who consistently dwell on craptastically giant boards such as GameFAQs or IGN, but for a small community that wasn't expected to be successful, it’s quite a stirring amount. This count later excelled to 150+ and we are currently on our way to 200 members. IX. ALL POSTS ARE BELONG TO JUKAIN Jukain continues to post.. and post... X. Online members KaBOOMED The forums hits another record as 13 registered members came to the board at the same time. Unfortunately, this event was not recorded anywhere, but a screenshot has been captured: ![]() XI. “What are you listening to now?” becomes a favorite forums hobby Raizer Sabre, the man that listens to a lot of cool bands, was responsible for creating the most populated thread, and ironically creating the most utterly useless off-topic thread. "What are you listening to now?" currently holds the thread record on the forums with 1,400+ replies and over 7,000+ views. Recently, it has to come to our intention that this device could be a devil’s tool. Where newcomers and desperate members could use it unintentionally and as easily as a snap of their fingers to boost their post count, and in addition it was extremely spam prone. Supporters of this so-called “I’m listening to this and you’re probably listening to something else and we almost certainly don’t give a sh*t” concept argued that it had a valuable importance, and could bring the community closer together if we find similar music interests. So far, that’s almost certainly not the case. Yes, we have people who like rock, metal, hip-hop, video game music, and even far-fetched genres such as Chinese pop, Japanese rock, and music that declares I’ll piss on your toilet seat; but as far as individual artists go, you can assured that we are virtually separated. Although, what do you really expect from such a small and condensed community? It has been decided a multitude of times that the thread be moved to the forums games area of the board, where it could help avoid post abuses; however, due to the thread having no significance of being a game of any kind whatsoever, it has been kept in the Off-Topic section of the board. XII. Post count reaches 10,000 The forums reached a high peak when post count rose to 10,000 total. This was noted initially by RoseTinted, stating somewhere between the lines of “Yay! We’ve achieved 10,000 posts!” and Jukain responding with something completely unrememberable. I’m still waiting on Jukain to post 10,000 lollie smilies to celebrate such an amazing 10,000 posts. XIII. Transition from BaneWolf’s CaS Forums to Soul Gateway Forums On July 19th, 2006, C.T decided that it would be the best in his intention to do an overhaul of the board and website to celebrate almost 6 months of good success. The plan initially needed to dealt away with the awkward and over personal name of BaneWolf, in order to develop the two into a more diverse locale. Thus, a name poll was created to gather opinions from forums members and the official voting was carried out 4 days later, with "Soul Gateway" gaining the winning entry in the results. The winning entry eventually led to a full skin makeover of the forums and a temporary site layout preview that was later scrapped, due to observable criticism and issues. Site hobbyist, who liked the current layout, exclaimed gracefully they would rather "gouge their eyes out with a fork, than to stare at the preview layout for more than 35 seconds". Following disapproval of the preview layout, a new one quickly went into development, and is currently working its way into official implementation, as we speak. Note: You can still view the preview layout here at XIV. From what-the-hell is BaneWolfCT to simplistically C.T “Hey Bane, Bane, Bane, Barne, Baney, BANNEWOLF!!1” – “Shuddup, my name isn’t Bane, BaneWolf, Baney, or Barney the dinosaur – it’s C.T.” XV. Buster Wolf joins in as a third moderator During a search for a third moderator to suit the forums' now larger audience, Jukain turned his nomination to Buster Wolf. Knowing that Buster had helped establish the forums' opening and disregarding the thought that he was a total pervert, he was without hesitation awarded as the forums' third moderator; so long as he is not inclined to replace every image link to one of an upskirt photo. XVI. tribaL216 becomes the first suspended After claiming everyone that was inferior to him as scrubs, and even our own Jukain as a scrub, tribaL decided to desert his past with GameFAQs in order to join Soul Gateway. Unfortunately the ill-effect of his scrub-calling behavior has greeted him with a very unwarm welcoming, even though he hadn’t technically insulted or called anyone a scrub. Tribal was, and god-bless he was, very inactive throughout the duration of his attachment to the forums. Tribal was also a very good boy at times, who even congratulated “Scrubkain” on his amazing feats at his obsession game “Guitar Hero” - “damn i hate to admit it, but you kick ass! i never played guitar hero before in my life, but that looks awesome and hard, so you must be good. i guess you understand the guitar more than soul calibur... hooha.”. Unfortunately, things went a bit haywire when he decided to setup an account under the administrator’s old name, BaneWolfCT (no, not BaneWOOOOLF). The reason being unknown, but likely as an impersonation account to post “I’m such a f*cking n00b and scrub omg look at my e-mail!!” under BaneWolfCT. Before he can attempt to post such a gibberish as this however, he was immediately greeted to a boot of about 7 days from the forums. After this embarrassment, he was never seen on the boards again and hopefully, had learned his lesson. XVII. Rise of C.T "the sloth" In the early, flourishing periods of the forums, C.T had been very good about carrying out submissions that was sent to him on time and as they were scheduled… and even deeply rewarding the viewers and submitters with extra characters, resources and tidbits in announcement threads, had he failed to achieve his many deadlines. However, C.T has been excessively slumping with getting tasks and submissions done on time, almost certainly due to an over consumption of pizza and long, straight hair that required 10 hours a day to prepare. C.T has been notably becoming more “busy with his life”, quoted as this may actually be a lie or an excuse to just procrastinate. Just be advised that C.T will likely no longer attach dates to tasks, or if there is a date attached, expect a general delay of 3-5 months, divided equally for his hair, his pizza and his “busyness”. XVIII. Complete submissions overhaul On the 22nd of June, 2006, Soul Gateway forums witnessed an immense overhaul to its submission system - bringing confidence to postaholics such as Jukain while disheartening and embarrassing others of their few speckles of posted material. The submissions overhaul also placed order on the forums, allowing only those that participate in the forums be subjected to qualification of any submissions. Selfish and ignorant children still cry and pull out fists for the new system, how long must we wait for them to grow up and see that it’s a fair trade and that “you get what you worked for”?? XVIII. Major forums additions The forums became more dynamic in the middle of August, 2006 when C.T implemented a slew of different forums additions, that wasn't just an alteration to a member rank title or a re-colored pip for a moderator. These additions came to be known as the Soul Calibur Avatar Gallery, Soul Gateway Jukebox, Soul Gateway Arcade, and New BB Codes. The Avatar Gallery, Arcade and New BB Codes were responded with much delight and participation, however, unfortunate failures such as the Jukebox became evident – as this virtual tune box was blasting out music no one completely cared about. Maybe it explains the reason why people have their own computer and their own “Jukebox”. XIX. First Honor Member Slinn Thiefy Highly appreciated of his work organizing and putting up submission lists in the news section without being individually asked to – Slinn Thiefy was awarded as the forums' first Honored Member, entitling him to a very unique looking status, a larger inbox, and the ability to become a moderator in the future. Congratulations Slinn! XX. THOU SHALL NOT STOP POSTING Meanwhile, Jukain is still posting, with an amount of posts up his sleeve more than individual chunks of feces from a bad stomach ache. XXI.Second Skin Transition The forums underwent another complete skin makeover on November 12th, 2006, as the poor member’s eyes were being rotted away by having to stare at such illuminating blue and green colors. Fortunately even after months of this suffering, no one has been blinded or injured, but may now be declined to use their computers for long periods of time to avoid seeing Ivy’s green colored breasts appear. The skin makeover was done in conjunction with the development layout, and graphically designed to match that layout. C.T also indicated that the new skin would be the forums' final skin, unless a new layout replaces the current development layout. Yes, that means you can probably stare at Chiharu’s breast for as long as this forums exists. XXII. Sudden, unknown departures of major members Recently, a decent amount of forums veterans that were almost considered legends to us, decided to depart from their once thriving community, as if God had sent them a message declaring they are no longer worth the patheticness that is this board. Regardless, we really have no idea of their whereabouts or just what in the hell they were thinking, but they will be eternally missed; like the savoring chicken breast that just traveled down my abdomen. Some of these members include Samrai_Reaper, Pyrotechnyks, TirMcDoh, and most recently, RoseTinted and Sponge-Zer0. Some members additionally declared they went away as a vacation, much like DarkBlade99’s gone gaming declaration; however, it could easily be assumed that this was just an excuse to join the deceased members' bandwagon and thus, disappear into another world. XXIII. Soul Gateway’s Downfall …soon to be documented… XXIV. Fall of Jukain ...never to be documented... |

Fansites can have their individual Wikipedia pages, I know this for a fact as I've seen some. The site might have to be a big or very popular one to qualify, though. And thanks to all the comments, I'm glad you guys had a fun time reading it (it TOOK SO LONG TO WRITE! ><;). In the beginning I intended to be completely informative, but then I figured people would be half asleep by the second event so I tried to add a bit of humor in it. Btw, I'm suprised you didn't offer any responses to Slinn's events about you, Jukain.. o_O; some of it was very criticizing... |

The forums aren't so big, and I doubt if they're popular. That's why I think it wouldn't work. to C.T: Can you list at least 5 fansites that have articles on Wikipedia for me? |

KOEI Warriors at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KOEI_Warriors was the only one I remembered, sorry. And I think having the forums as a Wikipedia article is a waste of effort, as not enough people will know about it to read and research it on Wikipedia. The site is would make a better article, but then the history article may not be suitable for it.

The True XXI XXI: Arrival of Jeri and Frogger. Apparently, this forum was about a lot of CaS, and not as much fun, as there were, as I saw, quite a couple of arguments, like Slinn vs. Jukain, and Seong Mina vs. Kilik, etc. Then, the arrival of two new members added more fun that ever to the forum. The first of the two to come was Frogger. He was looking at Bane's site, looking at the CaS on the forum, wanting to submit his now forum famous Karma. Signing up, he was quickly welcomed into here. He was smart, being one of the first to challenge Jukain in some CotS trivia, funny, and creative, starting the story games. One of his games fueled one more pointless argument, but, nevertheless, Frogger is still today one of the many well respected members on here. And who says Fighting Video Games was a male thing? Flame Winged Angel was one of the only remaining well known women on the site before Jeri came to the site. I don't know how she found out about it, but I'm glad she did. She added to the fun factor of Soul Gateway, with her jokes, pixel art creations, and, if her CaS looks like her in real life, amazing beauty. She, along with Frogger, are the two main people who brought more fun to the forums. |

I agree with your entry, but why XXI and not XX?? Actually, your entry would be somewhere inbetween XVIII (Major forums additions) and XIX (First Honor Member Slinn Thiefy), if we wanted to keep the timeline correct. |

I'm not going to alter the article with others' entries since I tend it to be kind of my personal written experience of how the forums hatched and lived. However, like I said earlier, feel free to post your own entries. It's the reason why I had this thread opened for posting. And yes, I did get your PM. |

Soul Gateway Contests opening The forums officilay met the opening of a new sub-section: the Soul Gateway Contests section, in which Tournament-esque events are created by C.T, and the winners can gain prizes. Currently, there is only one contest, in which you have to write a fictional story about at least 3 of the forum members getting warped to the world of Soul Calibur, and can involve your CaS or Soul Calibur characters. The 1st place winner will get 5 characters added to the site, regardless of post count and how many CaS he/she already has on th site. The 2nd place winner will get 2 characters added, and the 3rd will gain +15 posts If I'm not mistaken. |
