While we were up in Taunton today picking up parts and looking at the bodywork on the valver I wandered into Poundsavers and happened to spot some half litre damp traps - 2 for a pound. Bought some to put in the garage queen over the winter plus the valver which will not get a lot of use. Just plastic tubs with a few chemicals and crystals to absord the water. I will let you know how good they are. Nothing lost at that price

I did the same today, got 2 from my work, just a tub with white crystals in the bottom. One in front and one in back of my W140

Admin, if only I could shut up for a week or halfords had an autoglym sale neil would overtake

How do they work, can you dry them out afterwards and reuse them ?

I have a bit of a dampness problem in my 124, cant be bothered to fix it but 2 for a pound these my do for a while. I was considering the charcoal option. Its meant to work pretty well.

I have the same problem in the 124 estate, its the rear side window seals that are to blame for the damp in these cars apparently.

Not sure whether or not you can dry these things out but you can buy bulk bags of crystals on the internet to refill them with.

If you dont have a Poundland near you there are loads of these on Ebay.

Just do a search for damp traps and they have lots.

I think they are usually used in caravans to prevent mould building up by absorbing moisture.

My dad uses them in his TVR when not in use and they seem to work well. Not sure how long they last for but I know the crystals have to be replaced every now and then.
