There is a 2 second shot of the interiors of the record breaking cars at 3:36 .
The speedo is pointing downwards at high speed :)
Lots of extra dials & guages .

Would it be possible to get a shot if this moment posted on here ?

They averaged over 150mph , so that is probably 160mph , but dont tell Will , he doesn't think they go that fast

Brilliant!

The record cars were lowered, aerodynamically slightly smoothed, radiators more covered, reverse gear removed for some reason, all of which are of course were done for top speed, not to mention them being left hand drive so without the slight power loss of the right hand drive exhaust manifold. So the 150 probably only just available in a roadgoing version with the wind or a hill. Or in fact probably not, now they're 20 years old, I dare say! Road test results at the time were 143 for 2.3 and 146 for 2.5 (which pulls lengthened gearing) which would be 2 way averages, to counter for wind direction. Sorry to be the party pooper! But i can't see a genuine 160 without it being dropped off a cliff I'm afraid.
Edit: bah humbug I'm the party pooper.

I have had an indicated 144mph on my tomtom(on a private road) with around another 1000rpm in the bank.

I'm certain that mine must have had a top end re build though as it's done over 160,000 miles and goes like stink! B)

I agree stu mine saw 140 on the speedo and tomtom ( wow correctly calibrated tyre sizes LOL) still with around 1000 rpm left and still pulling like a train until i bottled it. so i agree that i feel 160 may well be attainable. The thing is the car handled speed so well it felt like i was doing 80 or 90.

That's what really impreses me to. So stable and un fussed at high speed. And like you say they feel like they are only doing half the speed B) They feel like they could sit all day at top whack without any problems.

i dont think mine would do 160 but its straight to 130 without a problem but never had a long enough private road to go any faster
