Hi Guys, My blower only heats on the drivers side. The heat it produces here is minimal at best. I've read that "Duo valves" (i may be a million miles off the mark here) are known to have issues. Can anyone tell me where it is on my car? 1.8 petrol 190e (1992) Any other suggestions as to what could be wrong greatly appreciated also. Newbie. |

The heater controls are vacuum operated. Possibly the vacuum pipe on the relevant side has been disconnected, or cracked. |

When i had this problem on my old 2.0l it turned out to be a leaking heater matrix. after a while it started leaking into the passenger side front and rear foot wells through the heater ducts. I chucked some radweld in(i can just hear lots of people stirring in their seats and groaning LOL) and it cured the problem for years afterwards. |

I agree in theory with the worry about radweld but it held my 2.6 for over 6 months before I changed it. The merc does have thin waterways which can get blocked but it worked for me. I think if the vacuum fails you tend to get hot all the time rather than only cold. Not 100% sure but thats the effect I had on my 2.0d. In fact I have the same on my w124 although I have no idea if its the same system. |
