NGK leads / spark plugs - anyone using them?

As the topic says, is anyone using NGK leads and plugs??

Story so far: I bought a 190E which was running poorly on 3 cyl and now doesn't run, hence the cheap purchase price of $A1150. I'm thinking I might like to change the leads, and the Bosch ones are hard to find and expensive. I've been told NGK make a set for the 190E, and they are about 1/3 the price of the Bosch set.

Now, prior to getting into MBs, I spent all my time on Mazda RXs (RX2,3,4,7) and you wouldn't run anthing but NGK plugs and leads on those cars. In fact although Bosch made leads and plugs for them, they made the wankel run as rough as a piston engine.

So what do people think, try the NGK leads or spend the extra on the Bosch?

I prefer to use NGK V-groove spark plugs in mine. I found mine tended to idle slightly rougher on bog-standard Bosch plugs.

But there is very little between the two products - just that Bosch cost much more. NGK are a good quality product IMO.

Ok so thats a thumbs-up for the NGK spark plugs, does the same go for the ignition lead set?

The difference here is quite significant - $A54 for NGK lead set, $A139 for Bosch lead set..

I suspect plugs for a rotary are far more critical than for a commom four stroke. So you maybe your comparing apples & oranges to some extent. I've use Bosch, NGK & Champion and in all honestly never noticed any difference nor had any problems. Plug leads I can't comment on but I'd advise using Bosch distributor cap & rotor as the other brands don't seem to be of the same quality.

P.s. I'd be happy using NGK plug leads.

Most of the folks on here that can , use OEM Bosch or Beru . Bosch are more expensive but last a lot longer , making them cheaper in the long run , but I do respect the fact that it is a much larger outlay .
