I have removed what is described as the "idle speed actuator" for inspection following an engine backfire. Is this what is also called the "idle control valve", please? The pipe that was blown-off after the backfire went to this from the idle air distributor. I wonder if the valve might have been damaged after the backfire?. I can see through the valve (it is not fully closed), but it moves freely. Should it be fully closed? The car will now start but tickover is high at 1200 rpm and it doesn't accelerate under load. I cannot see any other damaged or detached pipes. Your help, please? |

hiya, i was having the same problem with mine. i still haven't cured it fully as it still backfires on occasions. i think the ICV is meant to stay open, but NOT too sure. please dont quote me on it. i replaced my one and it too was open. |
