I managed to paint one door sill in satin black and just wondered if I should apply lacquer. I do not want it to shine as it would not suit the present appereance of my car. I read on a different forum that the purpose of lacquer is to actually protect the paint. My question is if should apply lacquer or not?? |

i think satin black would look nice. regarding the lacquer, well thats a personal choice. it does protect the paint but shines too. May be best to put a few coats of satin black to make it tough? |

you can get satin lacquer. If the black paint is tough enough you can go without though. Standard paint should really have a lacquer really especially in a high wear area such as the door sills. Hmm, actually, exactly which bit do you mean by door sill ? |

I painted the door sills on mine satin black without lacquer (if by door sills you mean the plastic trim that goes along the bottom of the door on the inside?) They seem ok at the moment and havn't cracked or chiped but I guess it would depend on how much use you car gets. Just paint lots coats if you dont like lacquer or use the satin lacquer as kentronix said. |
