Play in the Front Wheels

Ok lads just had the front of the car jacked up there the other day and here is a lot of play in both front wheels almost like iv ownly got 2 wheel nuts halfway fitted anyone no whats making my wheels wobble.

Its a 2.3.

Bearing need adjustment. It's a 20 min job for both wheels.

I have just discovered this on my car as well.

Part of the problem on the drivers side is the top mount is completely gone - you can see it move when then wheel is rocked.

Some of the linkages need replacing and my lower arms, although less than 12 months old, are non MB and you can see where the bushes have already started to deteriorate and leave the housing!

I have new arms, top-mounts and linkages on order.

Check everything!

Play in wheel bearings should be addressed immediately .

Top mounts can be visually inspected , and if there is cracking all the way around then it is time for replacement .

Thankfully they are a cheap item , and they make a huge positive difference to the handling .

Mine was completely gone - ukmerctechie said he had never seen one go like that! It rattled and moved like a good'un! :no:

I know I shouldnt be proud but it did feel like I had achieved something!! :D

It has finally spurred me on to complete the sportline suspension upgrades I have started ;)
