I fitted a 16v kit to my non 16v a few months ago I also bought a full set of clips from MB cost me about €130.00 or so and that was with discount. Well worth spending the money on them IMO as most of your old clips will break when removing the other panels I put up a thread with part numbers and pictures I'll post it up for you now Here it is http://s14.zetaboards.com/mercedes_190_club/topic/6583161/ Edited by ML190E, Mon Oct 26, 2009 7:19 pm.

This is one of the things many folk don't consider when kitting these cars, I recall a chap on BenzWolrd dropping well over $200 on new clips after stupidly rushing to take the panels off in preparation for a respray. He went slowly removing the cladding at first, snapped a couple of clips, then got impatient and just tore the panels off. His thinking was "little bits of plastic, how expensive can they be?" A bit more pricey than your average paper clip...

Seems the price has gone up a tiny bit, but that does sound about right. Is this including the fixing for the wheel arches too? One thing I have noticed is that the 'screws' that Mercedes will sell you are bog-standard screws and they sell them at just over £2 each. It's the small things like this that also rack up the price. My advice is, get all the necessary clips & screws and if you see that you can get the same screws for cheaper else where, then return the unused screws to Mercedes. You may find that could save you a few £££, not many... but I guess a small saving is better than no saving. ![]() |

nah its jus for the cladding and the skirts! the wheel arches clips may probably be more as i asked about the 4 cosworth wheel arches.....£425!!! lol had a look at the thread listed by ML190e is that all you needed for the kit to fit or did u need more clips? the one i have listed come to £96..which seems fair for 93 bits. |

I know this sounds like a very obvious thing to say, but normally you should only expect to snap around half of the clips, fewer if you take the parts off very carefully and there is a knack to it! I took off my kit from a car in the scrappy with a crow bar, was careful but after a few trips to the dealership managed to track down all the part numbers and the amounts that i actually needed. I think it came to about £60 but a load of the parts i bought i just didn't need. Think very carefully, and you may not need to spend as much as you think. |

I cannot believe you lot ....last week , with absolutely no experience whatsoever , I managed to take off the entire body-kit from the 16V scrapper , without breaking or losing one clip . The was more dirt under each piece than you can imagine , and it just took some diligent brushing away and some careful unscrewing , no breakages and no losses . Mart , I don't believe you used a crowbar Jeremy |
