Hey gang,

So how can i get the damn thing out / in? best way I can see is to remove the thermostat housing?

Otherwise I just don't see how I can get a spanner at it ^o)

Help and advice as ever gratefully received......

I just used a 'Cranked' Ring Spanner, can't turn it much at a time but mine came out easy after a couple of cranks.

I removed the thermostat housing, actually it wasnŽt too much of a problem to do, three screws and off it goes. Only setback is that youŽll loose some coolant, but just refill after and youŽll be fine.

It works without taking it off, but I did take it off, so I donŽt see any way is better or worse, as long as the switch is removed. And while youŽre at it change the thermostat as well, to get the heat up in the car for the winter. ;) ;)

right I'm a bit confused with that though guys, how do you get the ring spanner over it? there's a bulbous bit on the top that the ring end wont go over.

Aha, sorry about that mate but you must have a differerent model to mine, 2 Ltr petrol, Auto. 89 model there is no bulbus top to the sensor, just a two pin plug which a ring spanner will go over.

Mind you I have noticed on this Forum that there are often missunderstandings due to the fact that the 'Model is not mentioned when posting. ;)

Be very gentle when you undo the thermostat bolts mate as they can break quite easily. Spray lots of WD40 first and let it soak a while. The plastic thermo covers also get brittle over the years and can crack quite easily too.

nice one Stu, I'll try to be gentle on em.

Presumably I'll need to pick up a gasket too?
