We tried really hard yesterday to remove the sunroof cable from the valver scrapper . Problem is , we need to remove the rear windscreen ?????? Has anyone done this before , and can guide us through it ? We have taken the headlining out and most of the frame around the casstte , but the cable seems to route through the windscreen surround somehow . This is for Kenny , who stored the car for me , so I really wanna be able to do this . Jeremy |

I'd be interested to find out too. I tried to do the same on the one I stripped, and failed miserably. Saved the motor mechanism but had to saw through the cable to do it. If ever I'm contemplating buying a 190 and the car has sunroof problems, I walk away. Sorry, make that RUN away! Even the Merc specialists hate tackling this job. |

16v sunroofs different to the rest of the 190's ?....................reason i ask is because, everyone sunroof cable i have tackled ,the cable guide comes out of the sunroof cartridge and bends towards and goes the down the nearside "C" pillar, alongside the sunroof drainage pipe..............if it is different,i can only imagine that they only re-routed the cable guide, the cable should still come out the same way i did do a post on how to remove a sunroof cable ,it only had minimal pictures though, you remove the cable from the motor from in the boot, undo the fixing plate on the sunroof panel itself, and pull the cable through, using a pair pliers and brute force. As for removing the rear window..................its a piece of cake,it just pushes out, best to have 2 people, one inside to push quite gently with their feet, and another person on the outside helping prise the rubber out..........can get it out in less than a minute |

Jeremy, you're welcome. Encouragement is my middle name. Never did get around to asking my father why... .....Oh yes, I remember now. It's because my mother never did find out who he was!
