ATF in a manual gearbox.; Can that be correct ?

Member Posts: 3,833 Group: Members Member #1,062 Joined: March 15, 2007	Before it gets too cold I want to do a few more jobs on the car.I want to change the oil in the rear axle and in the manual gearbox. So I just looked in my Haynes to check what to get. For the axle it lists Hypoid SAE 90, thats fine. But for a MANUAL gearbox it lists Automatic Transmission Fluid, ATF. Can that be correct ? I have never heard of that before. Mike.

Sales Rep Posts: 1,826 Group: Members Member #1,387 Joined: June 9, 2007	Its a bit of a struggle but it can be done with the 1 litre bottles and a length of hose, I have also seen cheapo trolley jacks turned into gear oil pumps.
