I intend to fit an alarm to the 190 which I obviously want to control the central locking. I have discovered that the 190 has a vacuum operated central locking. Does this create issues with wiring up remote central locking to an alarm? |

yes it does with some, depends on the alarm itself..................some alarms like mine, have a facility to change from a 1 second pulse for eletric operated central locking systems to a 5 second pulse for pnuematic systems.its normally a jumper on the circuit board ![]() |

^^ what he says ^^ I fitted remote central locking to my 190, I think it was the 3 second pulse that I chose, which works fine. Longer wont cause a problem, shorter will. Mine had separate wires for each output rather than a jumper to select. I think it was short pulse, long pulse (3sec), and the same as a negetive rather than positive. |

Right, so I need to ensure the alarm I buy can emit a long pulse for the central locking. Ebay here I come. |

you could just rip out the pneumatic system and replace with electric it isnt hard to do just need to replace all 6 pumps |

It shouldn´t be more than one pump in the whole system, and the is controlled by electrical signals to the central pump from the doors. When the central pump gets a signal, it creates vacuum in one of two cylinder, in each door/ boot/ gas flap, pulling/pushing the locks to control ém. To control this system remotely you need to unplug the boot or one of the two front doors signal and hijack the input to the central pump unit. There will be three cables, and one of them is the input, where you should put in either ground or +12V to lock/ unlock the doors. Sorry to make this confusing, it´s pretty simple job to do in fact. Have done it on my own and love it, never more frozen key holes in winter and feels so much cooler in summer at the beach. |

Ok, i need some help! I've got 3 wires i need to find! One being a Positive line, another being a negative line and finally i need a wire that seems to go from drivers door to vaccum pump (the open/close signal?). I have: ![]() This has 4 wires coming out. One side with 3 wires and the other side with 1 wire. ![]() This one has 6 wires - 2 blue, 2 yellow, 2 green. Also the box has 2 wires that will flash the indicators when activating the central locking. If the wires are nearby i'd like to do them too! Would these be in the comfort box under the rear passenger side? |

Any idea if the Cobra Concept 650 is compatible with the 190 central locking? |

Mine has a Clifford G5 Concept 650 which works fine. I wonder if they are the same internals under a differant name? Just done a google search and can't find any mention of 'Cobra concept 650' Only Clifford. Edited by stwat, Sat Oct 24, 2009 7:09 pm.

ok, it's actually very easy to get the central locking working! the pump has a round 3 holed plug and a rectangle 2 holed plug. You will find the rectangle has a few red/white wires on one side, and a brown wire on the other side. The red/white wires are positive +12v and the brown wire is negative -12v. The round plug has 2 green, 2 yellow, 2 blue You have to look at the green wires and one is ever so slightly looser. That is the one you need for the actual signal! Very easy if you just want a simple remote locking. I bought THIS kit and it looks really smart. Feels just like my BMW key. |

I would think interupt the wire that goes to the rear indicators, I'm not sure now as it's a long time ago since I did mine but I think it was a Black/white or black/green, Hope that helps. |

Thanks for that. About to fit my ebay alarm soon, so this will take out some of the guess work/detection. Can't see which alarm you have as I'm at work and can't get on ebay but it might be the same as mine as it was possible to get it with a BMW type key. I went for the Audi flick knife job. |

The central locking pump is under the rear seat on the drivers side IIRC. |

take the bottom of back seats off and the pump is under the drivers side. It is hidden away in some brownish foam. You need to open the foam and you will see it! If you just want to lock/unlock doors without the indicators flashing, then connecting 4 wires is all you will need to do! 30mins max. If you are going to have a gtg with Chris this weekend, i'll pop down and show you how to do it. |
