My Evo II's have 215/40/17 and never rubbed on my 2.0 litre petrol on standard shocks and springs but saying that I have a feeling they would on my diesel which has a HnR Cupkit 60/40 drop. |

Longest build time in history?

I agree, 215/40-17 no rubbing even when dropped, and the right amount of sidewall flex, get some good rubber and you'll notice the difference. Dependant of which tyre brand you buy will depend on whether they look round or square shouldered when on the wheel. So think about that too. |

i have 215/40/17's on my 2.0D with a 40mm drop all round ,and they dont rub ................60/40 drop on a diesel seems a bit extreme especially a 2.5 ............IMHO i think a 40 drop all round is nice (cheaper too ) lol |

If I were to do it all over I think it would be a 40/40 drop this time like Sean's saying. I live in London and encounter humps on every journey I make. Don't get me wrong the car does go over humps without touching, however you do have to keep it a lot slower than everyone else and sometimes having to slow right down for the bigger ones. It isn't really a problem on the side roads but on the more busier roads that are long where people usually fly straight over them, that's when you start agitating drivers behind you. I have a 2.5d too btw. As for rubbing I'm not convinced that if I were to put my 215/40/17 booted Evo II's on the diesel that it wouldn't rub at all like my 2.0 litre petrol which had standard suspension. On the other hand I guess I wouldn't have it any other way on the open road or the twisty bits the car handles perfectly and that's exactly what a 60/40 drop is all about! Don't know about the 225/35/17's but if you roll your arches 215/45/17's won't rub and would be sweet. |

215/40/17 is what you need. Anything bigger will rub unless your rolling the arches. |

Anything bigger than 215/40/17 on a 60/40 drop without arch work guarantees lots of rubbing. Without a drop anything bigger than 215/40/17 will still rub but as I have no personal experience of using bigger tyres than them I can't advise on whether it's going to be severe or not. Said it before and I'll say it again. 17 inch wheels on a 190 need 215/40/17 unless your rolling your arches. |
