Just wondered if anyone knew if these things are actually able to be put on our car because it just looks like a straight pipe to me and dont really know what a cat replacement for a 1.8 190 would look like tbh.
Cheers

is the cat not just fitted to the later 190's so why not replace the whole pipe from an earlier car

Because this way it looks like you still have a Cat for MOT purposes.

so if i was to replace the cat with the exhaust from an earlier model it would have the same effect as a decat (freeing some little horses)?

Yes however if your cars late 91 onwards then you're going to have problems when you go for a mot.

Did you do the de-cat yourself. and if so what did it involve? Just that I'm considering the same thing myself.

Hi

you should get yourself a spare down pipe from the dismantlers and decat that and keep your own down pipes safe, just in case you need to put them back, even if its just to pass the MOT...if you know what i mean!!!!

When i had my costom exhaust done it did have a cat on to start with but the heat sheld went and the baffels was coming through the cat so my mate who did the exhaust cut it out and just put a pipe in its place, there would be a bit of work to do a removable cat i would of thought.

Hi

not really mate!! you just need to weld a connecting flange plate between the down pipe and the CAT. measure up a straight pipe to the same size and weld connecting flanges, easy removal!.

Take your cat out, take it to your local exhaust place, and ask them to make a replacement pipe. Probs cost you 30quid??
Anyone any idea how many horses it will free on a 1.8?? Is it noticable?
