I know I asked about wilwoods, but in the intrests of keeping my options open and maybe one day helping someone else out I would like to know the following.

Will the 300mm 4 pot vented setup from an R129 500SL fit the front?

Will the 278mm 2 pot solid setup fit the rear?

What else is needed? I have braided lines already. Master cylinder upgrade would be wise I imagine :)

Thanks in advance.
R.

SL rims are 16" at least and these are needed to cover the brakes.
Backplates are different / lager and difficult to change in the rear.

This setup is the same as of the EVO and should fit every 190.

Christian

You could do the same as me and go for the W124 E320-TE rear calipers and hubs (You will need the hubs too but with W201 arms not W124 arms ASAIK).

I'm not sure on the dimensions of the discs but they are vented and worked very well on Carl McGraws 2.3-16 Turbo.

First off with 4-Pot Wilwoods on the front, and then the now famous massive "Pink" Winner Power Pro 8-Pots, bells and discs on the front (From a Subaru Sti Upgrade package with custom alu brackets).

This was with RedStuff all round and a Sprinter 109 master cylinder upgrade. Suggest you get the master cylinder new as i think we had a "good" second which popped its seals on the way round the ring, and then chucked its guts on the ferry.

Just a question, but how much of an upgrade are the 4-Pots from the R129 SL500 in real terms over the standard 16v set up?

I'd have thought a set of EBC TGDs with red stuff (as has also been tried and tested) wouldn't be far off from the standard SL setup, or even better?

Not sure that upgraded SL discs are that easily available, or indeed the pads.

One thing that has always bugged me, and i have never got to a stage yet to lay the money down, is that with performance in mine, life-value of the consumables (discs and pads) should be taken into account at a very early stage. Some of the retro-mod versions from other models are far more cost effective than others. Replacement parts differ hugely in price - as does the cost of pads for different applications from EBC.

Does that make any sense?

Oh, and one more thing, rebuild kits for the 16v calipers from Mercedes are only approx £10 a side - i fear it may be much more for any of the other calipers.

Just really depends what you want to do with the set up i guess. Fast road, normal road driving, track days, or track only/hillclimbing. All have very different options.

Just ask at the dealership like i did, they'll track it down. ;)
