Ive put a 320mm mountney wheel and boss on it and the blooming thing is still too low! i feel like im drivin a go kart with a bus seat in it or something! im 6' so not the tallest of people but still finding my knees are tucked under the steering wheel. I wanna keep the car but just this position thats annoying the hell out of me! Anyone got any ideas.....Am i the only one with this issue???? |

It's a commom complaint, but usually by those who are unaware of the versatility of the seat adjustments. The raise/lower lever on left of the seat is often overlooked and it's the one, together with the knob that will give you your ideal driving posistion, whatever size of legs one has. You can put the seat rails further back , so I am told . The passanger seat in my 16V hits the rear seat squab ! Jeremy Edited by jeremy, Wed Sep 16, 2009 8:19 am.

I'd a similar problem even after fitting a 350mm wheel. So I purchased a steering wheel eccentric adaptor from Demon Tweeks, much better now. P.s. this will raise the st.wheel and tilt it very slightly. Edited by Johnboy Mac, Thu Sep 17, 2009 2:07 pm.

sparky.. when you say you've got absolutely no leg room.... do you own a north american model? i say this because the north americna models had a quite a big knee bolster installed under the dash...if you have that, then have it removed. I'm 6.2 and i've always noticed that when i sit in the car it makes me feel tiny. There really is more than enough leg room if the seat is properly adjusted. |

I'm 6'3" and never had a problem, with either the normal steering wheel or my much smaller Issotta so i have absolutely no idea what you are on about. I have long legs and a long torso, and the 190, with any seating variation is probably the most comfy driving position i have ever encountered, and i have driven a lot of cars. I don't mean to sound rude but are you sure you understand how the two stage height adjustment and slider works? One of my best mates is technically a Giant at 6'8" and used to have one, admittedly the seat was pushed back to the rear seat squab but had plenty of room and never complained about it. |

I have the same problem. I have to have a smaller steering wheel than standard, because otherwise my hands hit my thighs when I turn. With this fitted, I have to bob down to see the instruments properly. The wheel does feel like it needs lifting up, even with the seat right down. I have got used to it, but I can't think of a simple solution. Basically, either your bum needs to go down, or your wheel up. Lifting the wheel would be major surgery, the column angle would need to change, the top mountings would need altering and the dash and/or column shroud would need alteration. Lowering your bum means either surgery to the seat you have, or fitting a different seat. In my experience, 16 valve seats feel lower, I don't know if they are or it's just an illusion. An aftermarket seat and custom sub-frame is a tidy but expensive solution. Just check the back of the seat before you go any further. Look at where it is bolted to the floor. In my W124 E280, some idiot had packed it up with washers. The seat was lifted up around 20mm on copper washers fitted on top of the standard square plate on to which the sub-frame sits. Removing these made a huge difference, but the w124 is a lot bigger in there anyway. But just check to make sure there's no tampering under there, and that your seat is going all the way down smoothly. Al Edited by algord83, Thu Sep 17, 2009 3:39 pm.
