My 2.3 16v has what looks like an original head unit. The car is a 1986 on a C, with a Blaupunkt CD player, what's unusual about the unit is the credit card type card which slots in the bottom of the unit. A theft protection system. It seems very advanced for the year, I remember theft protection systems for cars that age involved removing the whole unit by the flip out handle provided. If it is correct for the car, it must be worth something to a purist owner......obviously my car won't be needing a stereo. Any ideas if this is original? |

My '88 2.6 has the original tape player. It is a Blaupunkt and is very retro indeed It will be coming out soon as I like my CD's and I need MP3 play-ability. But I will keep the original. I want this car to mature into a true classic, it will need all its original bits. The original MB over-mats in that thick cord pile are another item I will remove to preserve. Al |

I think my fathers E-Class was fitted with a Toronto when it was first delivered. Stupid creditcard type thingy, but does look effective when the tray is out and the light is on when the car is locked. I don't think it is worth much though i am afraid Dan.

In Germany the original was Becker and they are going up in price now due to their originality. |
